Man I love these lcg playthroughs. Please give this same treatment to Arkham Horror and Marvel Champions. Your narrations are what make these playthroughs better than anyone else’s.
Bravo Colin! I love this for 2 reasons. First your attitude, enthusiasm, and now 4K camera work has always impressed me. Your content is top-notch no matter what channel it’s on. So great that we can actually read the cards clearly! The artwork is beautiful, and your video shows it off very nicely. Second, you kept it Modern. This game exists in 2 different states: Modern and Classic. Classic means purchasing of out of print eBay cards that are way too expensive and many cards likely will never get reprinted. Those videos are great for the “back in the day” folks who get a nostalgic feeling. But we Modern players can’t identify with it because we can’t reproduce that experience. It’s always a bummer for us when a powerful, out of print card comes in to play that’s going to cost me $100 to buy the single little pack on eBay to get it. Modern Lotr Lcg players (or Revised Content Only) jumped on board 3 years ago and will only buy the reprints. That is where FFG’s marketing is concentrated, so it is smart to make videos these days without those old out of print eBay cards that most people can’t or won’t buy. The Modern Lotr players have access to the revised core, 4 starter decks with fantastic cards from previous cycles, the scenario pack Dark of Mirkwood, 2 full cycles in Angmar and Dream Chaser with 2 complete Fellowship boxes. By the end of the year, Modern will have the 3rd Fellowship box and the whole Ered Mithrin cycle. That’s a whole lot of cards for Modern Lotr!!! Wonderful to see videos like these that Modern players can appreciate. I’m wondering if the amount of Modern players will surpass Classic players? Or have they already? You are doing a great job by focusing on Modern and helping this wonderful game stay alive and well and relevant for the new players who can’t afford the eBay cards, or just choose not to get ripped off by some schmuck selling a single little adventure pack that’s out of print for $150 on ebay. Cheers to you Colin, can’t wait for the next Modern video where I hope you can make short work of the hill troll. Or make him, as you would say, “toast;)”. Thank you for showing the community the strength and beauty of Modern Lotr!
Thank you so much!! Really made my day!! This was exactly why I did just the revised core, thought it would be helpful to get new players into the game! Thanks for making my day better with this comment!!
This game, in conjunction with Colin and Rodney’s videos are the reason I’ve spent so much money on the hobby over the last 8 years. So thanks, I think 😂!
Colin actually made the expansion of my card pool possible when I won a prize in a giveaway. Though tbh in the long run it did cost me a lot of cash as it really got me back into the game when I was struggling! lol Still really grateful! Not just for the prize but also for the great LOTR LCG playthroughs! Good times
Congrats on your 300th game! So happy you're back with this game, it was severely lacking on this channel that I started my third watch of your saga playthrough 😅
@@MeetMeAtTheTableAbsolutely! What do you mean by “another”, I see no such play on this channel. Nope, not here! Definitely not on a different channel! Must fill that void! 😅 Hey, anything to justify another saga play!
Thanks so much. I hope you'll make more fresh LOTR LCG content, aimed at beginner players (or simply playthrough content with some explanations of what you're doing and why you're doing it-the best way to learn and enjoy watching a great gameplay). Really enjoyed it!
Wow! I recently came back to this game after having played it 10+ years ago when it was initially released. Loving every minute of it now and can’t believe that at the peak of my hype Colin (my absolute favourite solo TH-camr) releases a fresh video about getting (or jumping right back) into the game 😊.
Haven't even started the video yet and I'm already excited! I loved your playthroughs on one stop and it feels like I get to watch season 2 of all those playthroughs over here. Thanks Colin! ❤
Happy anniversary :D Thanks for sharing your love of the game. I got the new base box a month ago but have not had the time to really dive in. This was the real appetizer needed to get going!
Perfect timing! Just getting back into this after a failed attempt a few years ago. I beat the second scenario for the first time last weekend...what a feeling! Going to start over and do the campaign with a friend. Then it's on to the Fellowship saga! I love that you can play scenarios that relate to the books.
Well I'm going to be "that guy" and say that at 44:15, Mendor was already Ready, so you couldn't draw a card (because of the Then condition). As you said at the start, there will be mistakes, and in a game with so many complex interactions it's inevitable. I wish the interactions were a bit more simple so it was easier to avoid errors, but it's not a competition so it doesn't really matter (though for me, I hate making mistakes as I feel as though I "cheated" a little if I win). Regardless, I am enjoying your playthrough two-handed and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the campaign unfold. Nice decks as well, the Eowyn quest-powerhouse is solid!
Finally got around to watching all the playthrough. You know by now how much I love seeing you delve into Middle Earth with the cards from LoTR the Card Game, it begs the question... What on earth took me so long! lol Great stuff Colin, as always many thanks. Looking forward to catching up with the other episodes!
Yes!! I love LOTR and this game always makes me happy. Glad you caught up on the series! 2 more are coming as the dark of Mirkwood extends this campaign by 2 scenarios!
Perfect timing Colin! I've only just got into the game with the new revised content, so I've been watching all your old plays on One Stop, very excited to see a new fresh play!
This was the best Lotr lcg play through I found. I’m new and yet to buy the game but it felt so good like I was playing with you thanks to the great angles and pleasant commentary. Ty!
Thanks so much for this. Just picked up a copy of the original core (sleeved!) for $5!! Glad to have this to watch before diving in, especially from a LotR LCG vet!
Really great video. Very informative. I learned that I misunderstood some of the rules from reading them. But I have a question: in the engagement phase of round 1 you optionally engaged the Forest Spider. The Forced ability reads “After Forest Spider engages a player, it gets +1 attack until the end of the round.” And you added this bonus to the attack of the spider. I would argue that this ability is not triggered because the spider did not engage a player (you engaged it). Am I mistaken here?
Great to have you back to LotR! Do you plan on redoing the Mirkwood cycle on this channel (and correcting a grievous error from the One Stop channel 😛) or do you want to continue where you left off on OSCS (I think Khazad Doom quests were the last you did there) when you redo these first 3 quests?
@@MeetMeAtTheTable I just finished watching! You destroyed them! Man, I love this game! The campaign rules are really cool! I'm not sure about the locked characters though. After losing horribly the first time I play each scenario, I like to prepare the deck and the hero pool for my come back! I guess it is thematic and it makes for a more consistent and difficult campaign play, which is also cool.
