We already know they refer to it as "The successor to the Switch."

"Successor to the Switch" doesn't sound anything like off the cuff shorthand devs would use among themselves.

New Switch, Switch 2, Switch Plus, Switch Evolution, Switch Focus, Super Switch, Switch Advance, Switch Elite, Switch DS, Switch 4K... what could it be?
All good names but wait here me out what about Switch Attach.

@@FTChomp9980That sounds way to similar to “Switch Attachment”. It’s literally just a few letters off. If they go that route, we’ll have a Wii U situation where people think it’s an attachment for the Switch.

I think the ‘one last thing’ for the September direct (not June) would be a teaser title for a new 3D Mario game for switch 2.
I'd be certainly fine with Switch 2 or New Nintendo Switch, doesn't really bother me, but it'll probably be called something else officially. Great video!

With games like Metroid Prime 4K, Super Mario 4K, Splatoon 4K, FZero 4K....

While DLSS is great, it's important to not overstate its abilities. As per Digital Foundry's research, the frametime cost of DLSS is directly related to the chosen output resolution. And at 4K the cost is very high, probably too high for this device. We are more likely to get DLSS upscaling to 1080p or 1440p, then outputted in a 4K container (so a second "standard" upscale that effectively just blows the image up to match the screen resolution). However, one really great bonus is that even at those lower resolutions, DLSS will be adding anti-aliasing, which is not something Nintendo has traditionally used very often, so the image will have a much higher "perceived" resolution/sharpness, with a lot less jaggies than we see on Switch 1 games running on a 4K TV. Ultimately it will look very good, which is what matters! Either way, the more we hear about this device, the more excited I get. If the recently leaked specs are true, it's going to be pretty incredible, especially if the docked configuration hits 4TF!

If the codename is Ounce, i wonder what the reasoning is behind the scenes, if any. The saying "An ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure." comes to mind. But that's more of a western saying, would say. But if that's it, maybe they're thinking that they've built a certain amount of future-proofing into the new console.
Of all the consoles Nintendo ever produced, the next console is THE console they should capitalize from the Switch name. Switch 2? Switch was a freaking awesome console, and they nailed it! Switch 2 sells the legacy and the followup in one name.
Nintendo really getting testy with us with the codename but Ounce is an odd one.
Games file size wont be in GB anymore, but ounces lol.

The "New Nintendo 3DS" was an incremental upgrade of the 3DS, so a "New Nintendo Switch" would sound like it wasn't a brand new gen device either.
Also calling something "New" will feel silly in a couple of years when it's not new anymore. :D
Clearly what they mean by ounce is going forward Nintendo games wont be like 40GB in size, file size will be measured in ounces. So the new 3D Mario will be say 30 ounces.
Maybe they’re going old school and calling it Super Switch.😝
They should call it “The Switcher” and then just focus on the female characters nobody cares about.
