    In this episode we pull up our set lines baited with liver and heart and discover that we caught a drum. We hunt FERAL hog too!
    We fish for catfish, alligator gar, long nose gar and drum, crawfish, crawdads, or yabbies, ghost shrimp, bluegill, rio grande perch, armored catfish, flathead catfish, blue catfish, alligator, freshwater clams, leopard Frog.
    All wild foods are on the menu!
    We seek out wild edibles including prickly pear cactus pads or nopal, cactus fruit or tuna, wild onions, mulberries, wild grape, Texas persimmons, pecan and anacua, mulberry, tasajillo, turks cap, yucca pods, cats briar, oion, chili pequin, duck weed, ground cherries, desert hackberry.

    Hook sharpening on a stone, keep nearly flat to stone, always pull hook where the point is trailing; never sharpen by pushing into the point. Lay hook down side to side, but always keep a very low, flat angle. You can sharpen your fish hooks to pinpoint razor sharpness. Use as smooth a stone as you can find.
    EDIT: Sorry for having to edit so much! But AUTOWRONG keeps sneakily changing every other word I write, and I miss a few by the time I post. 😡

    We have chiggers on Tennessee. Try Aspiri Creme. It numbs the itch & the petroleum seems to smother the bite.
    We don't eat drum here. We don't even count drum as a skunk fish. There like eating carp (water possum).
    Enjoyed it, as always.
    Stay pestless.

    You can treat the bites with nail polish remover (has to have acetone in it.) It blocks oxygen which is what the chemicals in bite react with to cause itching.

    Hey, The Wooded Beardsman, on that sharpener, i want to tell you some EASY way to handle shapening your knifes casue it hurt my eyes when you do it, so here the easy way to remember to hold it right, and get the right angle to shapren your knife. do it like you would try to crave a spear, that way you have the right angle, for the side thats is suposed to cut, you absolutly NEED the right angle, if you do it like in the video, you just end up with a knife with scratches all over the blade. so remember, HOLD LIKE YOU CRAVE A SPEAR, and make move as you would cut something use the whole blade, its very easy. hope your knifes will be sharp all years now. :)

    Hi ya WB! Anyone ever tell u that u have an awesome sense of humor, love it. I’m glad the barb didn’t sink n, I know that hurt, it’s happened to me, I was lucky to. Ha, the shade sure puts a shadow on the barb wire fence huh, I thought u were gonna get stuck again, it’s a good thing u have good brakes! Wow, that was a lot of oil dripping off that drum, I’d seen in a video somewhere where they put metal a certain way under the meat while it cooked to catch the drippings using it to re base the meat. I don’t recall the eyes of ur cooked fish looking like this one, kinda creapy, I’ve been building myself up to eat eyes that look like eyes, now I gotta do same for yellow eyes. I guess Bobs been busy, saw him for a second here, didn’t on last video or two, I know he’s gonna have great videos for us to see and I can’t wait!!! This was fun, greatly enjoyed it. Thank u

    Those chigger bites and the explanation of their life cycle sounds exactly what we have up here in northwestern Canada but here it's called 'slough itch' because it appears after swimming in the lakes when they get warm. Apparently, it comes from the feces of water fowl and since the water fowl migrate north and south I'm wondering if it is the same thing.

    • @sheilam4964
      @sheilam4964 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does living on land in a humid, hot environment really make them different to swimmer's itch in a cooler and drier climate?

    • @sheilam4964
      @sheilam4964 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the doctor's description of them matches the described 'chigger' life cycle mentioned above exactly the same. So like I said "it sounds like the same thing". I don't know what else to say. It's an interesting coincidence. Right?

    Great stuff as usual! I would love to hear your thoughts on carrying a bird and trout knife as a field knife and what are some of the things you expect from a knife. Please!!!

    I think you need to try salt water drum. It's way better than fresh water drum.

      It's a great sharpener and likely the only one you need. Fits in a glove box, easy to carry, has everything.

    That knife you have, is it a stainless steel blade or carbon steel? Stainless wont hold an edge very long, carbon steel holds an edge.
