  • Adam Craig takes me out to try to get on some geese and ducks on his backyard pond! Let's keep eating only wild foods!
    Use code "WoodBeard" to get 10% off ASAT Camo: www.asatcamo.com
    Adam Craig Outdoors: / @adamcraigoutdoors
    I extend the challenge into DAY 8!!!!
    Wasn't sure if I would have the mental fortitude to avoid eating modern sourced foods, but in the effort to extend this series into uncharted territory, I pushed through one more day.
    The GOAL of the SURVIVAL CHALLENGE is simple: GAIN or MAINTAIN, body weight eating only WILD FOODS! FULL PLAYLIST: tinyurl.com/yc...
    Join MY TRIBE: / @thewoodedbeardsman
    Episodes will run every TUESDAY and FRIDAY 10 a.m. EST.
    Woodobo SPICE (FOR SALE): tinyurl.com/y7...
    Join me and Zach Fowler winner of Season 3 of ALONE on the History Channel. Zach's Playlist: tinyurl.com/yc...
    UNLISTED CHANNEL: tinyurl.com/yb...
    We weight-in and weigh-out and if we lose any body mass at all, we have FAILED the challenge!
    Unlike Naked and Afraid, ALONE, or Survivorman, there is no limit to the tools we are allowed to use on this survival challenge. Living off just WILD foods is harder than you think! If it's legal, it's fair use. Sometime we even do some bushcraft, but the main focus is really on eating wild foods, wild edibles and catching and cooking various foods.
    This isn't about just surviving, this is about thriving!
    Season 4: Northern Autumn, takes place in Northern Ontario with vast opens seasons including fish, catfish, pike, trout, birds such as grouse, duck, and geese, bear, deer, and moose. Also wild apples, mushrooms, berries, and so much more. We make use of all the resources in this challenge to meet the demands for calories imposed by the human body!
    In this episode we chase down some ducks and geese to put together an 8th day wild food meal. Adam Craig Outdoors. Please visit his channel here: / @adamcraigoutdoors .
    Beaver are surprisingly easy to trap and offer a ton of nutrients to the forager. A real staple item! Beaver is also great eating, usually very full of fats crucial to surviving long term in the wild.

    *On Friday we're on to our NEW SERIES..."Caveman Cooking and Savage Eating," and next FRIDAY JAN 11, we fire up the Cabin Build Series!*
    *ABOUT THIS EPISODE: I was back near "civilization" for this one...but resisted eating any modern sourced foods in order to really solidify the experiment - is the diet we were able to take from nature in the form of wild foods enough to sustain a human person? The answer is in this video. I never really came out of this season craving any particular food and in fact, aside from the relative discomfort of eating massive amounts of straight fat and trying to digest it, I felt completely fine and able to continue. First meal coming out...I don't recall. I think I just went back to eating my regular foods...no cravings. I also still have plenty of bear and beaver meat, enough to share with my tribe!*

    Where I live this is why seal was such a important animal, they have a thick layer of fat that was used as food, feed for dogs(Transportation) oil for the stone lamp for heat and lighting. Then you had the bones for tools and weapons. The skin for clothing, cut in strips for rope and also used for boats, and tents. Everything you ever needed to survive came from this one animal, a animal that was available almost year round, amazing really. Good for you to put yourself through this, many don't realize how difficult this is to do to survive from the land...

    ASAT camo is really cool. It's been around since the 80s and it still looks cool. I think it stands for "All Season All Terrain." My patterns come fro Russia. A full suit is fairly cheap and their environment is very similar to ours. One looks a lot like the expensive KUIU stuff and blends in really nicely with lichen covered rocks and tree bark. You caught precisely 1 duck more than I did.

    My name is Jake Jones im 27 and live East river in south dakota. Ive always been more in tune when outdoors, and feel a real connection I don't see anywhere else. To me nothing is better than going home to the woods. Now for the last 6 or 7 years I've been in a place I felt I had no control but in reality I did. I was in extremely toxic relationships, friendships ,and I think that's an important thing to be cautious of. Like it or not they take the most of your time, and only recently I've found my freedom again and I'm rebooting my connection with nature. Watching your life doing what you love and listening to your talks is really more help than you know. I feel we think alot alike in terms of its a man's job to be a man, and if your not willing to work for your own happiness your basically sol for any quality of life. I'm not sure if you've been in a situation like where you've felt extremely held back by a relationship of any kind and how you delt with it. I wasn't so lucky in my case. The most important people to me were the bad fruit of the tree, and their seeds grew a little to close and I still feel broken. Camping fishing hunting those are all primal drives that are my personal medicines like you said I'm done denying my instincts. Again my question is. Has anything ever held you back or denied you your instincts that was hard for you to let go of? Also how it's benefited you? P.s. thanks for showing me how to build a friction fire with the bow and knotch cut.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I change too much over time. I have different hobbies and interests. Over the years I've had many relationships with many different people depending on where my passions lead. So I guess, no, not really. I've always tended to explore and put ahead with my freedom, rather than what people thought of me, or what others were doing or more appropriately, not doing. Many people get stuck and don't evolve and that's bad thing, at least I think. I believe it's our job to continue to learn and push ourselves and grow, not try to stay still. I think we should keep pushing ourselves, but make sure we keep our things in order. When you have a family, you will understand that part, they come first and you grow more responsible and more grounded. I think you probably know what's best for you, hardly anyone else can possibly know that for you. We can be self-destructive at times, but no one can allocate resources on you as good as you can yourself. So pressure is on you to take care of you. After that, then you start looking after others.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      And more specifically to your question...let toxic people behind, relationships, and more especially girlfriends. If it's not right, walk. It's one of the biggest choices you will make, so decide wisely. When kids are involved, that's it, you WILL need to have a relationship with her for the duration of the child's life, good or bad. Vet, don't settle, research, look at her family life, her Mom, Dad, siblings, etc. That's a variation of what you'll get. So be happy with that.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman

      Exactly right. Farming is better at squeezing calories out of a small area, hunting, fishing and foraging is nuts with a large group of people...totally impossible today on a large scale...that's why.

    I’m no expert but I’ve been shooting wild fowl for many years, Chris shooting ducks make sure you are well hidden, you were to exposed lucky you got one those geese sounded like Canada geese very sharp eye sight any ways all good fun, Zach don’t need a shot gun he’s dangerous with his sling shot lol ......, what species was the one you shot ? 👍👋👌🇬🇧

    Hey WBM, “Fat is the key for wildernesses living...” -:))
    The Eskimo found that out centuries ago and look at their life span, mostly die around 50 - 60 years old of heart failure. The modern day life span in the US is about 80. Many still very active and healthy in their golden age. Just saying -:))
