My 2008 Lincoln Town Car Signature L blew its engine yesterday at 409k. Was considering washing my hands of it, but this is a hard argument that I should drop a newer Coyote into it. Great timing.

If you can’t get a coyote, find a 4v 5.4 out of a navigator and throw some goodies at it. Would be sick.

If you can't find a coyote for a good price, the 4.6 from the Mark VIII is a direct bolt in swap, and it's easy to build up.

I have a 06 L. A godzilla and 6r80 would be sweet. However you can still make a lot of Power out of a 2v 4.6 I almost feel that's more insulting to get gapped by a 2v. Either way get it back on the road. Big sedans are now a thing of the past with vanilla suv's and small cars or trucks being the only options.

The License plate is CDR Cody ...that's awesome! That's a reference to the musician Commander Cody who made a song about Hot Rod Lincoln's...the owner has an awesome sense of humor!
I have always felt that the body on frame US sedans would make great sleepers and resto-mods, and this car is a perfect example of that. What a change of pace as far as projects go, and it's unique...which makes it so cool. It's like an even more upscale Marauder, and I am sure it keeps up with a lot of vehicles who's owners would never suspect this.
Seeing stuff like this reminds me of how I keep finding near-mint early 80's Chrysler and Dodge (like a New Yorker 5th Ave) full-sized sedans for sale in my area for really reasonable prices, that would suit a modern fuel injected 392 or Hellcat engine swap, and have one heck of a sleeper. Same goes for a few late 70's and early 80's Oldsmobile's and Pontiac's I have found that would suit an LS swap all day long too.
Great video David, and keep ones like this coming!

I have always loved the previous style Towncar, but the last Towncar that I fell in love with was a 1998 Towncar. Yeah, 4.6 2 valve, but they aren't really the garbage engines that everyone claims them to be. The one that I drove was black on black like this one with limo tint all the way around as it was in Florida, and it was SO comfortable and was somewhat surprising for such a heavy car. It didn't have a T56 in it, but it was comfortable and decently quick...not fast obviously. The fastest Lincoln I ever drove was a 1994 Lincoln Mk VIII with the 4.6 4 valve. I wish I could've driven Tony Angelo's when he turbocharged one with a fully forged Terminator engine.

I fuggin LOVE 2v mod motors. I have a few tricks I do to them and on e85 they can handle 30psi. On 30psi a stock displacement 2v 4.6 turns into something undescribable and so goddamn violent I still get surprised. I've made a good living where I reside building 2 valve modular ford engines. My personal car made 1408 at the wheels with a glide behind it. There's not a manual trans under $25,000 that can handle that power. Its my drift car BTW. I have a gforce dog box in mine and every 12 hours of run time I have to pull it apart. That's running her at 22 psi. She still makes 1100 wheel. These little engines are no joke. You just have to do the right things and don't waste time on anything else because it's not necessary. Trick flow heads and cams, 1/2 inch head studs and I add 3 more per side. I machine my own main caps that have a N.S.E.W. capture. Then I deck my block and heads so flat, passing the tool so shallow you can't even see the path. I then reem a 2mm ring around each cylinder on the block. Most of y'all know where I'm going with this. The most important part is the bond of your copper ring. You cannot half ass that. I've seen some guys do some silly ass shit but the only way to do it is by practice and repetition. It took me 4 tries to get it right. I cut my rings 4mm long. Then I use an oxy torch with the ring pinned up in a stabilization rig I made for burning harnesses together. I essentially melt the ends and push them together keeping heat in them as I work to the aluminum foil I have pinched on 2mm inboard of the cut. Then I throw the things in my annealing chamber for 6 hours , work off the little rosebud on my belt sander with a 400grit belt and bobs your uncle. You now have a virtually indestructible head gasket. The weak point now are the 12 point 1/2 inch grade 8.8 ARP head studs as well as the threads they reside in. I have pulled a few thread caterpillar out of blocks don't get it twisted. But a simple, done RIGHT, helocoil job later and she's better than new. Sorry about the spelling y'all I'm a redneck.

I daily an 04 red Ultimate Town Car.
This is what I plan on doing. The 4.6 is a sleeper. It will not make much power, but it will take a bunch of abuse if you avoid any of the derivatives like the 5.4. Throw a few parts at the classic 4.6 and it wakes up without forged parts or a new cam. Delete the Air suspension and swap in a Tremec tranny and you have a great base to have fun without breaking the budget. (About 7K)
Want to drift? Throw in a better oil pan and some low coils and you can slide. (3K for car + 9K = 12K)
Want to mountain climb? Add some lift, a wench, and a real spare and you have a 2WD Ford F-150 pickup that looks like a car... (3K for car + 3-10k if you want manual = 6K-13K)
Want to look good at a meet? Leave it clean. Add some tasteful flare. Done (3K for car + 1-25K for mods = 4-28K)
Want to Drag Race? Throw some slicks, get rid of weight, add a cage, safety, and hold on. It is not quick, but fun! (3K for car + 12-20K for safety= 15-23K)
    Want to etc. etc.?
    The sky is the limit...

Don't do it. You could drop a coyote in it easier and for less money than what it would cost to swap an ls3 all in. It drops right in as the coyote is basically a newer mod motor. Keep it Ford man

Didnt competed with ls in performance but davids right, its an engine and those who had it could depend on it to do engine stuff for them everytime they called on it to. Now throw in that they love boost and before you know it youve got a good platform to modify. If i had the money for a build id consider one

People think these are heavy grandpa boats with sloppy steering etc, that just the parts used to make them “ comfortable “. Swapping out a few parts can wake these up to a whole different level- even with a the 2v. They are not as heavy as people think, and can handle pretty well after swapping out some suspension parts from a p71. The best part is they are fairly simple to work on and mod, the best would probably be swapping the rear gear from 2.73 for 3.55’s, 3.73’s or even a 4.10’s and some lower profile/larger wheels. I wish Lincoln applied the same logic they did with most of their other vehicles as in using the better 4 cam engines like the Mk8, the aviator, navigator etc.
