    She's such a beautiful cow. One of my favorite breeds. Do you notice hoof differences between different breeds? I know in horses (which I am more familiar with) hoof varies greatly between breeds, with some breeds having soft hooves more prone to issues and other breeds with naturally hard hooves. Do you trim hooves for any very small farms or do you only do larger dairies?

    • @NatetheHoofGuy
      @NatetheHoofGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +74

      Small differences but usually not in consistency. There environment has more to do with that. I’ve got farms I trim for that have as few as 40 cows and as many as 1500.

    • @NatetheHoofGuy
      @NatetheHoofGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes you can. I maintain at least 1/4 inch of sole on the bottom unless I’m dealing with lesions then I use a block to remove weight. The horn consistency changes and that’s when I stop. Experience guides that.

    Oh by the way, every community eventually has drama...espeically on social media. Have you heard of the YT channel Happy Feet Hoof Care? This guy really HATES the HoofGP, and has started saying so in videos. He seems to not like any other hoof trimmers and thinks his way is the ONLY way. I've watched a couple of his videos....WOW, IS HE A BUTCHER! Just grinds the hoof down with a grinder until blood is literally squirting out. Beware if you go check him out. And he's totally ok with having a cow bleed for hours due to his awful grinder/knife work. I refuse to watch him. I doubt you care for this drama...lol....but i figured i would mention it. I'm glad that the videos I do watch are all nice, gentle, and respectful of the cows. Thanks for all your hard work.

    Never seen a cross legged cow before...am sure she felt so much better afterwards. Again, I do like how slow and steady you work on the hoof

    Hi! I’ve noticed in other videos, you put a block on one and strap the other. You didn’t strap in this one. Is this because you weren’t using that technique back when you made this video? Or is it because it’s a different diagnosis? Thanks so much for your videos. Love them! 🙏🏼

    I could watch this all day, found your channel last week and have been binge watching when I get a spare bit of precious time. I make a preventive treatment for mastitis during the dry period so I've always got time for more bovine videos 🤣.

    Wow, I have never heard of that before, much less seen it. I'm still amazed u can tell what's wrong under all the muck that's on the hoofs!

    Knife work is soothing to watch. I don't own catte nor horses. Ppl like me (anxiety, depression, etc) find watching farrier work eases symptoms. Pimple videos, podiatry videos, cooking videos, and Bob Ross are also on our watch lists according to preferences.

    Amazing video but I'm amazed at the sharp tool you use and seriously wonder how they sharpen it!!
