This is where the Sopranos hits a run of absolute, solid gold, flawless episodes all the way to the end.
It's also the soft start of a "new" season, the second half of six.
I can’t remember why they cut season 6 into two parts. Writer’s strike maybe? Getting nervous/excited for their reactions of upcoming episodes.
Except the end, or the end they didn't show, even though we know what really happened.
Chase (creator of the show) talks about this in the book The Sopranos Sessions. He wanted to have seven seasons but HBO wanted season six to be the last one so they did an extra long season and split it in two so they follow their contract. Interesting book about this epic show btw.
@@les-b5p The end is amazing and profound.
Bobby took his pride, Tony took his soul.
Well said.
Boddy??
"Soprano Home Movies" has one of the best endings in the entire series. The ending symbolizes Bobby standing on the shores of hell staring out into the abyss. The song "This Magic Moment" by The Drifters plays expressing Bobby's internal feelings about the special moments with his loved ones outside of his horrid mob life but also about the fleeting time he has remaining in life before his eternal damnation. He knows that he's no longer going to be with his daughter in eternity after committing the of murder of an innocent man. His "magic moment" is the few years he has left in life compared to the endless depths of eternity. Very deep message. The concepts of death and hell are reoccuring themes in The Sopranos. This series is truly a masterpiece.
"ive seen that sitting in the chair thing..."
"People sit in chairs, Jan" 😂😂😂
She was right. That's when Tony was planning to have Bobby whack someone and "break his Cherry".
Asia was exactly on point about Tony getting Bobby back by making him kill his first victim and putting that burden on him for the rest of his life. Pretty despicable from Tony, one of my fav episodes tho...i reacted like BJ during the fight, i was hyped 😂
Perhaps but when you're a Madeguy of Cosa Nostra Mafia, you're expected to do what the Boss says, especially fulfilling contracts like this. IF one doesn't want to do that do not accept induction into the secret society brotherhood of Cosa Nostra
@@LoneWolf_Cub_Ogami_Itto yeah that too, there's multiple layers...that's what makes the show so great haha.
Tony can be very petty at times. Was definitely a punishment. Bobby should have never hit him. Just go to bed. BJ’s reaction was priceless.
@@LoneWolf_Cub_Ogami_IttoTony was being petty Bobby is a capo by now. If they didn’t have the fight Tony would’ve had someone else do it.
@@Cream-2128 Yep.
Sydney Pollack, who played the inmate oncologist who killed his wife, mailman, etc., was a major film and TV director, who won both an Oscar and an Emmy. Somewhat related is the fact that the guy playing Melfi's therapist, Peter Bogdanovich, was also a prominent director who was twice nominated for an Oscar.
He directed “Paper Moon,” my favorite movie.
20:08 this song was in The Sandlot which a lot of us 80s/90s kids watched.
That ending with that particular piece of music...just awesome!
I remember the first time I saw this ending with the music. I couldn’t wait for the next episode! After all those years, this show is aging like a fine wine.
@@patrickwayne1010 The ominous weight of the song and the accompanying scenes should be shown in every film school 👍
@@patrickwayne1010 Better every time I’ve watched it.
I always love when the inmate doctor says “at this point l had to fully commit”.
That's Sidney Pollack. Great actor and director. Look him up in Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman.
@@gridlo EYES WIDE SHUT
Yes! After saying that he killed the mailman. 😂 😅
@@gridlo l love his performance in Death Becomes Her. He plays the emergency room Doctor.
@@Paul77ozee totally forgot that one. Need to rewatch. He's also great in Husbands and Wives.
"This Magic Moment" was originally recorded by The Drifters and released in 1960. Jay and the Americans had a hit with the cover version in 1969.
We've all had fights over the Monopoly board but I've never had a Hotel embedded in my cheek before 😅
LMAO. I only play monopoly on a gaming console or pc these days. Keeps things on the up and up. Everyone starts giving money to other players nearly every time I’d play live. To gang up on the leader. Used to always end in an argument.
Well you've clearly never played monopoly with a drunk mob boss before
36:00 First time ever that Carmine Jr. actually said something smart😂
The sacred and the propane for real 😂
Love re watching this with you all as a true NJ Italian..
Hell yea .. I live a few blocks from Holstein’s. May just go get myself a vanilla shake there today 😁
A & BJ; long time watcher...1st time commenting. Had to drop a note, as you guys NAILED these 2...fine episodes! Keep up the good work!!
My day starting out good, a Sopranos episode on my bday before church
You guys are the best! Thank you for all the fun!!🎉
Awesome Work Guys, Thanks!!! Greetings from Helsinki, Finland🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
I looked out my window at 8am to see swat and everything on my lawn.... lol
8:28."You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?" Remember those words.
That end scene with Phil. At the start he's hunched over, defeated, and vulnerable. The rage builds and at the end he says F this I'm not going to roll over anymore. He ends the scene sitting straight up, asserting his will, determined to get back at all those who have been stepping on him for years.
34:23 - notice that Sil doesn't 'hear it when it happens'. Mirroring Tony and Bobby's chat in the boat in the previous episode, although Sil isn't killed in this scene he's nevertheless right next to the guy who is, and he doesn't hear it when it happens. When the guy is killed, the ambient sound switches off and it's just silence, until the room comes back into focus and Sil understands what's just happened.
Dude that scene with Tony and Little Carmine at the golf course is one of the most underrated of the series
"You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?!" Bobby 8:30
The only thing that sucks about this is that it means we're one step closer to the end... all the emotional intensity of the last six seasons revs up and intensifies, it's been such a joy to watch this with y'all❤
Watch Mr Inbetween next/
“It wasn’t about being boss, it was about being happy..” Tony was nothing but envious..
“A sucker punch is a sucker punch”
Lol "A hit is a hit"-Hesh
So then it wasn't fair and square? Make up your mind.
@@leeroyjenkins6061 “I think we both know what’s what” lol. This show is so fuckin quotable it’s ridiculous
13:12 MAN, that’s a great point BJ, i’ve seen this show 100x and never even thought about the literal gut shot. Bobby cold for that one.
BJ has to release a karaoke album.
In the fight scene between Tony & Bobby they had choreographed it prior to but Gandolfini didn’t move out of the way when Steve Schirripa went to headbutt him and it actually landed hard and took him down, which they left in the shot. TBH I’d have been terrified to film a fight scene with someone as big and terrifying as James Gandolfini was. They said on the Talking Sopranos podcast he used to walk around with stones in his shoes on set to get himself agitated and psyched up before scenes where Tony would have to exhibit anger or violence.
All I've ever heard about Gandolfini is that he was a lovable teddy bear who was kind and fun with everyone. He had to put the stones in his shoes because it was difficult for him to act like he was angry. I really don't think the cast were terrified of him at all.
@@TheIronDuke9 oh I agree he was a standalone guy. I heard a story he got a substantial pay raise after season 4 and he wouldn’t continue filming unless they negotiated a bonus for the rest of the main cast. Still doesn’t mean he wasn’t a intimidating figure to film with haha
@@TheIronDuke9yeah I heard that too. Seems like James was the opposite of Tony in a lot of ways. But when he got into the character he really got into it
For years, Alec Baldwin pestered David Chase to give him a part on The Sopranos. Chase always refused, saying Alec was too famous. Then he gave Alec's brother Dan a part instead 😂
Alec is an angry, arrogant narcissist who shot and killed one of his co-workers. He would have been perfect for the show
Couldn’t take “ Larry /Lawrence “ from Cat in the Hat serious as a mobster😂😂😂😂
The best TV serie ever.
It’s neck & neck with “The Wire”!!
Asia and BJ we are all here with you curled up by the fire, one big dysfunctional but loving family watching the All American love story together. In our footie'd robes, marshmallows in our cocoa just like mom used to make. And it looks like Santa's been here because some of the milk has been drank and I see a bite's been taken out of the cookie.
First time I saw this I was like holy 💩.
Like Kong VS Godzilla
Soprano Home Movies, never been able to pinpoint why, but Bobby coming back to the lake while "This Magic Moment" by The Drifters plays always makes me unusually emotional 😅
"Soprano Home Movies" and "Stage 5" are both top 10.
At the end of the day Bobby signed up for that life.
Bobby took Tony’s pride, Tony took Bobby’s soul
Hell yeeaaahhhh! More Sopranos!!!! Phil Leotardo is gonna get his............the song at the end is Evidently Chickentown
Awesome. Can’t sleep so gonna watch this. Tornadoes and storms all night.
Midwest getting pounded with those F5. I'm not to far from Iowa
@@tinocontreras5105 Oklahoma here. Storms just kept going all night.
@@igloo2158 stay safe
texas here, so far just rain and thunderstorms
32:11 I expected the OJ joke to get a reaction
From here on out is television perfection. Enjoy it because I know I wish I could rewatch it for the first time again
Johnny saw his mother right before dying...I've seen & heard that happens often🙏
If you get a chance ? I highly recommend the mock documentary about the making of Cleaver. Very entertaining! It was a bonus feature that came out with the final episodes.
I always thought you had to kill someone to be considered being made. But bobby gots his badge without it.
Not necessarily. Some guys got in by being big earners or being born into it. Bobby’s father His father was a made guy with Junior’s crew.
Don’t get mad at my boy for knowin’ This Magic Moment, that’s a top 10 classic right there
The cabin episode has always been one of my favorite episodes 😂
Ughh this is the home stretch I don’t want it to end !!! Sopranos home movies is a top 10 episode for sure
Just remember the dialogue in this episode between Bobby and Tony while fishing. Remember this dialogue and pay attention to the scene with Tony sitting on the dock and turning his head every time he hears the buoy bell ring because it all means something in the finale. 😎
You guys should check out DeadWood. Its not as popular as the sopranos but definitely as good. You’ll love it.
I so agree. Deadwood is one of the best series HBO has ever produced.
I say check out “The Wire” next!
@@Reese8531 Just as brilliant!
That's twice now Asia has mistaken Tony's er... "happy face" for an "episode" 😂
I wonder what Dr Melfi would make of that.
Never leave guys.
That would have been a death sentence for hitting the boss
Right especially swinging on him first!! It’s another thing if the boss swing first you might make it out that situation, especially since none of the guys were around to witness it
“ 47- He was a fuckin kid “ 😂😭
I dont drink much anymore ( yay THC being legal in my state and helped quit booze) but man whenever I go on a watch of the series when SHM eventually comes around, I make sure to have a few while watching. The show captures adults enjoying themselves, board-games, and so on near perfect. Its so good w/ the music used, the shots(literally lol) and it was nice seeing the 4 of them have some fun . . . before the fight lol
You don't know that song? C'mon now lady. Y'all too cute. Having fun re-watching the show like this. Such a great show. Keep up the content.
😂Tony was mad at Janice for making the family seem dysfunctional so he then makes a very tasteless comment about her while playing board games and then it got dysfunctional 😂😂😂😂
“Home movies” is probably one of the most important episodes. “I bet you don’t even hear it” is a Bobby quote that you should never forget. Fan Theory is that the guy Bobby shot is actually Janis’ estranged son Harpo, which is real fucked up..
Watching John Sac die is incredibly hard, he was the only stand up guy in the entire show.
Here was one of the key moments of the show - you won't hear anything when they come for you.
BJ must have watched The Sandlot once or twice. When the nerdy looking kid Squints, makes out with the lifeguard, This Magic Moment, is prominently played. Played in other movies and shows, but I picture BJ jamming on The Sandlot. Lol
Youse guys putting in the work 😊
Y'all Take Care and Enjoy Your Day ✌️🤠🍻
You’re in the home stretch and yes things are really starting to feel unsettling and making you nervous at the same time. Buckle up cuz it’s gonna get more intense and take you on the biggest emotional rollercoaster you’ve ever been on doing video reactions.
03:49 hey they cut out the funniest scene from that episode--that dude taking a dump behind Tony
20:00 Wendy Peffercorn is how many of us know that song, Asia! 😂
Tony wears the undisputed heavyweight championship belt of being petty
10:02 Yup. My Monopoly rule is: A player can get loans from the bank, which then gets repaid by $100 each time the player passes go, until the loan is repaid 👍👍👍👍
At 2:38 - BJ's face got my dying 😂😂😂
Another great cameo the great director Sydney Pollack as the murderous intern. “Out of Africa”, “Tootsie”, “The Way We Were”.
My dear friend was going thru chemo and went outside and lit a cigarette...A nurse came out to give her hell...she said "SERIOUSLY????" AND F**K OFF!!!
The very last episode will piss you guys off because you love this series like I did. When you see the last part of the last episode and it makes noooooooo sense......come back to this episode to 8:30 and listen to what Bobbi said....then you'll know.
I don't think they would put Johnny sac's picture up on the wall after he admitted the existence of the Cosa Nostra on television in court
I heard a dark theory that guy that bobby killed was janices son.
I thought and said exactly that when the episode 1st aired, the hair, and I forgot other clue (s) Tony had his own nephew whacked.
Lame theory. He just happens to be the brother-in-law of the Quebec guys they're meeting? It was the guys from Quebec who brought up the idea, Tony didn't even think about it until they suggested it.
That theory is not good at all. They literally have the guy asking them and for much as a piece of shit that Tony is he was going to at the very least meet his nephew
8:28 a very very significant line there
Y’all just seem to be a fun couple to be around. Always making me laugh 😂
“ You beat me fair and square “. 😅
Enjoying these. Is there a better freakin show?
Absolutely not.
Johnny Sacks love for his wife is special and sweet!!❤❤❤👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
When Bobby comes back and his daughter comes running up and he picks her up, that's where I realized that this really does just become a job to these guys. He did what he did, and then came home to his happy family. Them kids will never know their dad came back from k*lling someone. Even if it does mess with him.
Yea BJ you’re right!!
That song is a Classic!!!
Asia is 0-2 in spotting BJs while they are happening thinking they are panic attacks
Best reaction couple on the internet. Hey BJ, Asia got a sister who likes dinner and a movie?
Asia don’t know that song???
Damn. She needs more Oldies.
That song is classic….
It’s the song played in The Sandlot when Squints fakes drowning so Wendy Peffercorn will do CPR…and he kisses her!!!
Great analysis. 100% accurate
I cry every time I see Bobby hold his little girl after what he did.
Um, pretty sure Bobby got the upper hand after he head butted Tony, then hit him with the right hook.😎
It’s said that you aren’t suppose to raise your hand to a boss. Bobby could’ve been gone for that alone. I think the fact that he’s married to Janice “saved” him.
It is curious to watch a couple of decent people come to identify more with really bad criminals that they are familiar with, and come to consider law enforcement to be adversaries.
The look at 6:51 says it all
It's just the beginning to the end
What took you so long, bin waiting!
Asia and Bj. I know you liked Grease with ONJ but if you get the chance can you react to Xanadu. Its an 80s movie. Love the channel. Been subbed forever. Thanks guys
Thank you Asia and BJ 🫶
Bobby also had to cross the border, as far as we know, Bobby has no criminal record
The true victim in this episode is Sil's dry cleaner.
Going to miss you guys.
"You probably dont even hear it when it happens"
Asia don't know that song?
I know This Magic Moment from The Sandlot
Yea but Tony would have had to eventually test Bobby if he is going to groom Bobby into underboss instead of Chris .
Y'all missed their point in the canoe convo when they talked about Bobby not having whacked anyone. Tony orders him to do it out of spite for getting his spoiled ass kicked.
Then BJ missed even more about Bobby's aversion to having killed someone by taking comfort in hugging his daughter, BJ missed it trying to show out grooving to the outro song.
Such an incredible show
I don't care what anyone else says, my personal take is: After Tony came back from the coma, Tony chose to beat up the bald musclebound driver (for slamming the refrigerator door) instead of going after Bobby because Tony knew he couldn't hang with Bobby one-on-one. Bobby is a monster -- he has age, height/size advantage over Tony. Plus, that one scene where Tony asks about Bobby's weight loss. Bobby would have smashed on Tony then, and it would have been a thousand times more embarrassing in front of the guys.
No, you're wrong. No subordinate would dare fight back against the boss in front of mob witnesses. Tony chose the kid because he had the most ripped body over everyone else. It was always going to be a one-way fight
