BJ the actor playing Clyde is Gerard Butler , if you saw 300 thats where you recognize him from. Another great movie with him and Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello is called Shattered. Check it out you'll like it.
Clyde wanted him to stop compromising and making deals with criminals. That's why he kept giving them the opportunity to not making deals with him, they kept failing and compromising with him.
1,000%! I think that is how Clyde was able to morally justify his actions. He set it ALL up like a long corridor with a Door at the end that leads to a horrible death. But ALL along the corridor are Exit doors on each wall. All Nick had to do was make the "right" choice & he would walk out one of those exits. I also TOTALLY believe that IF Nick had NEVER initially offered a "deal" (and accepted a "loss" of a court case) Clyde would have abandoned his plans & it would have ended there. Which I why (IMO) he gets that evil smile on his face when Nick asks him, "What do you want?" in the interrogation room! He is probably thinking, "I see. You have NOT reformed/ changed/ repented, at ALL! You are STILL what I HATE about the legal system. OK, Plan: Destruction, it is.".
That’s the thing that bothers me: he didn’t make the deal about releasing him by 6am and Clyde still killed everyone. Not compromising didn’t change anything
@@merchillio The only reason he didnt take the deal was the bad image it would have given him to release him. If it was benenficial for his conviction rate or image, he would have made the deal.

I had to watch my nephew open his birthday presents 5 days later with all his "Love Daddy" gifts. The guy who murdered him was out less than 6 years later (I'm in Canada). This movie its Nicks ego that got everyone killed, once Clyde started killing. He was so worried about his perfect conviction rate. He couldn't see that he was basically putting everyone around him in danger. All the way until Jonas got killed he wouldn't let go of that ego. Nicks character made me mad.
All Gerard Butler's character wanted was effort. That's what he said to Jamie's Character after he killed his co workers in the cars. If he had tried to convict them for Murder 1 and lost, he would have been happy with that but because Jamie's character was worried about his win/loss ratio, that's what Gerrard had issues with and that's why he had an issue with The Judge, it's a flaw because their are safeguards in the law so they won't get the wrong guy but that's flawed as well. But in my opinion, that's the motivation of Gerard's character.
The rumor has always been that Jaime Foxx threw a fit over the original ending, which had Clyde killing him last. He felt his character should win. It doesn't work well, because his character didn't learn anything after all of this and ended up repeatedly breaking the law and technically committing murder, without suffering any consequences whatsoever, just to beat him.
im convinced nick was last on the list, dont think clyde went insane,he wanted to highlight the crooked system in an extreme way that would get the media attention
I don't think Clyde would have killed Nick. That being said, I would think that if Nick hadn't stopped him and not appeased Clyde in some way, that Clyde would have taken his family out to put him in the same hell he was in.
IMO, Clyde was trying to teach Nick a lesson. He wanted Nick to understand that the legal system is not the justice system it should be. I don't think that Nick was on the list. Clyde wanted Nick to understand the failure of the system.....to act outside the law (which he did in the end) would prove that Clyde did what had to be done to find justice.

I'm old school, Asia. I have a DVD collection - and this is in it. Anytime I'm in walmart I go by the big $5 bins and rummage through for some movies I like. I have yet to stream anything. I'm still hooked to a cable box which I rarely watch. $175 a month for background noise while I watch YT on my laptop. Crazy! Great reaction to a great movie. ❤
It pays to know law. He had ten yrs to study law and is now playing them for fools. That is how you beat the system. This was a great movie! Great reaction too!
It's interesting that in the end Clyde technically still won. He may have died, but it's because Nick and the cops moved the explosive to Clyde's cell, which in turn made them break the law. Criminal or not, Clyde still has rights and they not only took the law into their own hands, but basically committed multiple crimes including offing Clyde, destruction of property, and endangering the lives of others in the prison. Even if they cleared that level of the prison, there's no way to know if the blast could have affected other levels, and I doubt they could have evacuated the whole prison. Realistically, Nick and the cops should have been charged or at the very least lost their jobs, but this is a movie so they have to have a happy ending. Great movie though. One of my favorites and definitely slept on. Glad you reacted to it
The guy in the tunnel w/Jaime is Colm Meany, who was in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine for yrs. And in Star Trek: The Next Generation for a while. Gerard Butler was also in "300". He's also in a rom-com movie with Jennifer Aniston called The Bounty Hunter.
He was also in a charming movie called P. S. I Love You and in another movie called Reign of Fire. Both earlier and with a very handsome Gerard Butler.
Great reaction as usual. One of the best movies with the worst endings. Not because Clyde died (I think that is the only way he gets peace), but that Nick had no consequences for prioritizing "wins" over justice and convenience over truth. He even became a criminal (breaking and entering and assault on a prisoner, then committing murder at the end). He did the things he condemned Clyde for and got away with it.
The actor playing Clyde is Gerald Butler from 300 King Leonidas, another really good movie with Jamie Fox and Tom Cruise is Collateral. I think you guys would really enjoy that one too.
This movie is very similar to a real life home invasion turned un-aliving in my state. It made national news in the early 2000’s. The husband survived but his wife and two young daughters did not . The two men who committed the crime were sentenced to death but the state abolished the death penalty and they’re now serving life in prison. I always think of it when I see this movie. 😢❤
In the original script Butler was meant to win. Foxx kicked up enough fuss about it that they rewrote the end Clyde was originally going to succeed in bombing city hall and escape after killing Jamie's character as well. I kinda agree with Jamie Foxx that that ending wouldn't have much going for it as what's really the point. Having it end with Jamie's character learning to go outside the law and the true meaning of justice is a better resolution
Clyde existed for 10 years trying to get justice. He succeeded and he was done. He went to his family like the end of Gladiator. It was a great ending so long as you understand that he did not lose to Nick. he played him the whole way until he learned his lesson.
People hate on the ending but Clyde died in front of that courthouse when he watched Darby go free. It was bad enough that he had to witness his family destroyed and that could have broken him on its own. The tragedy that he suffered broke him beyond repair and there was no stopping him from killing anyone even tangentially related to the “justice system.” Him living would not be a good thing since he was basically a rabid dog with an extensive knowledge on how to kill.
Think of it this way: What happens when you absolutely wrong and take away everything from an "attack dog" of the government, who has been the brains of countless very shady complex successful assassinations? That "attack dog" is going to bite back. I'm more confused on why Clyde didn't pull strings in the deep government to affect the court case. But for as intelligent as he was, he was too naive to believe fully in the justice system.
As a father of a daughter i 100% feel what Clyde did, i think any real father would want to do the same thing after seeing what happend to his daughter and wife. Great movie which makes you think "what would you do if it happend to you" ?
Another point was that to find out what was going on in the properties they had to break in. They had to go outside the system to catch him. Everything they found was "fruit of the poisonous tree" and couldn't be used in a court of law. His point of the system being broken was proven by them.
Jamie is one of my a favorite actors and Gerard is one of my ladies favorites. So when this movie came out, we didn’t know what it was really about but obviously we were looking forward to seeing it. Blew both our minds and to this day it’s one of our favorites.
I spot three actors that appear in the Star Trek universe. 1. 11:37 Captain Baxton on the left (Voyager - Relativity) 2. 11:59 Chief Mile O'Brien (TNG and DS9) 3. 23:24 Doctor Dysek and one of Morn's accomplice (Voyager - Critical Care & DS9 - Who Mourns for Morn)
I once saw a documentary about the Black Panther Party, I think it was about the 60s or 70s, one of the two, anyway, it happened the police searched their domicile under pretexts, shot members of the group and planted guns on them to justify these executions as “self-defense”. The point is at some point the Panthers began to undress before such searches in order to save their lives. They were still treated badly, but because they were naked, guns could no longer be planted on them to shoot them and then publicly justify the killings as self-defense. At the point in the movie when Clyde surrenders and strips naked before being arrested, I thought of this documentary, so I guess that's why he stripped before being arrested.
"turned his neck into a sprinkler system" "killed by a phone call" BJ had all the good one liners! 😂 One of my fav Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx moves. Thanks! Love y'all!
Great reaction. The whole point that Clyde is trying to teach is simple. Do NOT make deals with guilty people. ESPECIALLY when you know that they are the main culprit. If they had just said, "No" to the mattress deal, none of this could've happened. Clyde would be in the main block, so under 24/7 surveillance. The INSTANT they make that 1st deal, his plan is able to work. They had mountains of evidence about him. But they took the easy route out.
How can you not like a movie when someone takes the law into their own hand when done wrong. He might have become the villain but you're still rooting for him.
In the end Clyde still won, he won the moment Jamie Foxx's character decided to break into the mechanic shop even though it was illegal. It's like, "oh so now the law doesn't matter, now you realize that things are more important and the justice system isn't isn't always right."
Brutal movie but the commentary was so funny. *gives longitude and latitude coordinates* “I still don’t know where where to go” “Tell me the intersections” 😂
This movie is criminally underrated as an action thriller. Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx were spectacular and really leaned into the psyche of these 2 characters
Such a great movie, . Jamie Foxx is a great actor, . Another one I'd like to recommend with him is "Collateral" co-starring Tom Cruise. . Throw it in a pole, . . Love your reactions.
This movie was amazing. The best thing about it is between our 2 main characters there’s truly no bad guy. Besides the 2 men that committed the original home invasion crime. You understand both main characters & where they’re both coming from. Rather, you can sympathize with both of them & understand why both characters are doing what they’re doing. Gerard was awesome & Jamie Fox was excellent as usual. Anyways, that’s why I loved it. Clyde wasn’t crazy either, he has a solid point. It was just wrong or rather too extreme the way he went about making his point. The law pulls crap like this everyday in America & it makes me sick.
I was introduced to this movie by my mom because she loves Gerard's movies and I love that Clyde pretty much just wanted for the lawyer to try in his case. Even if he would've lost at least he would've tried and that's all he really wanted.
I was always rooting for Clyde. Great movie. I think most of us can relate to Clyde.. Hated it when D-Day ( Animal House reference) died though. lol . Asia you are so cute when you put your hands up in front of your face all the time. BJ , you got the reason like other have said Clyde took off his clothes.
Clyde just wanted a reckoning. To teach Nick that the justice system is flawed, and that everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions. He said it verbatim in the film. He already had justice 20 minutes in. He already killed Ames and Darby. Everything else was a lesson.
Everyone who hates the ending of this movie, needs to realize that everything happened exactly exactly the way Clyde wanted it to happen A guy that precise would not leave a bomb in a case, sitting in the middle of a room unless he wanted someone to find it He wanted Jamie Foxx to learn his lesson thank goodness he finally did Then he was ready to join his family 100% control the entire way through
People act like Gerard is the good guy and Jamie is the bad guy, but they're both neither. They're both men trying to do what's best for their family, and in doing so, they both sacrifice their morals.
To me, he wasn't saving Nick for last... he was always saving himself for last. He wanted Nick to live with all the deaths because Nick made the decision to take the deal.
One of my favorite movies. Really shows how the actual justice system works too. Lawyers and DA won't take you unless you have a good chance to win/have money.

I think what they should have done is had something to where at the very end he’s trying to make his daughters show they should have ended it with Jamie foxx noticing a bomb inside the violin so when she hit a certain note it blew up or something and had Jamie scream “NO!” And the film cuts to black.
after dark knight and kingdom of heaven this is my top 3 movie of all time !
Lmaooooo i love that BJ almost lost his headphones when the judge died by flip phone😂🤣🤣
It pays to know law. He had ten yrs to study law and is now playing them for fools. That is how you beat the system. This was a great movie! Great reaction too!
He turned his neck to a sprinkler system 😂😂😂
"Why you gotta say that?!?"
Imagine how disappointing a Saw movie would be if Jigsaw lost in the end. Who thought it’d be a good idea?
Haha right? Or if John Wick was portrayed as the bad guy and the mob boss miraculously killed him in the end.
Turned his neck into a sprinkler system.
Why you gotta say that?!
😂😂 most relatable movie watching experience ever.
And rom com the ugly truth. With Katherine heigl
for Colm, I'll add Hell on Wheels to that list
@@Anonymiad Colm was in Con Air
Foxx kicked up enough fuss about it that they rewrote the end
Clyde was originally going to succeed in bombing city hall and escape after killing Jamie's character as well.
❤️ the reaction 😊
Have anyone notice this before??
If hero wins, its a good movie.
If villain wins, its a great movie (you won't forget that movie ever)
Asia: "Everybody go back in." Absolutely wonderful comedic timing. That was too funny. Great reaction, King & Queen
I spot three actors that appear in the Star Trek universe.
1. 11:37 Captain Baxton on the left (Voyager - Relativity)
2. 11:59 Chief Mile O'Brien (TNG and DS9)
3. 23:24 Doctor Dysek and one of Morn's accomplice (Voyager - Critical Care & DS9 - Who Mourns for Morn)
Jamie Foxx' partner is Colm Meany who most famously played Miles O'Brien on Star Trek TNG and DS9.
Bloody Cardassians
I remember having zero interest in this movie when I first sat down to watch it. It remains one of the most surprisingly good movies I've ever seen.
Brutal movie but the commentary was so funny.
*gives longitude and latitude coordinates*
“I still don’t know where where to go”
“Tell me the intersections” 😂
This movie is criminally underrated as an action thriller. Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx were spectacular and really leaned into the psyche of these 2 characters
Such a great movie, . Jamie Foxx is a great actor, . Another one I'd like to recommend with him is "Collateral" co-starring Tom Cruise. . Throw it in a pole, . . Love your reactions.
Poll
"He tool a deal without consulting his client."
Victims or families of them are not the clients of prosecutors. Prosecutors work for the state
This movie was amazing.
Everyone who hates the ending of this movie, needs to realize that everything happened exactly exactly the way Clyde wanted it to happen
A guy that precise would not leave a bomb in a case, sitting in the middle of a room unless he wanted someone to find it
He wanted Jamie Foxx to learn his lesson thank goodness he finally did
Then he was ready to join his family
100% control the entire way through
People act like Gerard is the good guy and Jamie is the bad guy, but they're both neither. They're both men trying to do what's best for their family, and in doing so, they both sacrifice their morals.
Nick did what was best for him. His family was barely an afterthought
He was ten yrs in the planning for this. That is a long time for a smart man to develop a plan.
Damn...Asia was dead on!
"I Won't Be Back Look." was perfect. Dawn.
Awesome review.
Ooh.. if you haven't seen it already, Ray is awesome. So is Mr. Holland's Opus. Both are incredible movies. Thanks again for all you do. ❤
The actor who played Jonas is Bruce Mc Gill. He was in the 1978 movie Animal House with John Belushi. He played D-Day.
It's going to be BIBLICAL!
To me, he wasn't saving Nick for last... he was always saving himself for last. He wanted Nick to live with all the deaths because Nick made the decision to take the deal.
I'm a french canadian guy and i think you make a great couple and i think Asia is beautiful and i love her laugh
This is SPARTAAAAA!!!😮
One of my favorite movies. Really shows how the actual justice system works too. Lawyers and DA won't take you unless you have a good chance to win/have money.
This movie was so intense! Insane plot. Great movie!
What a great movie. Nice pick guys.
“Turned that neck into a sprinkler system” 😂☠️
You two bantering back & forth about being the more Law Abiding Citizen knowing how the Law Abiding Citizen in the movie evolves into makes me laugh.
I love movies that are filmed in Philadelphia (that’s where I’m from), and this is one of the best!
