  • With the official cancellation of The Acolyte and the termination of plans for a Season 2, tensions between Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney Company continue to escalate. The focus has now shifted from Leslie Headland to Amandla Stenberg, who portrayed Osha and Mae in the series. Stenberg has begun to place blame on the fans for the show's cancellation by Disney executives.

    Call me crazy, but I think the vocal minority are the 18% of fans who liked it. The 82% fans who disliked it are not a minority but a majority. I get math is hard but the decision to spend 200 million for season 2 does, at some point, involve running the math on if that investment will pay off at all.

    When you purposely wrote a show to piss off a certain group of people and make it cater to 1% of the population, you shouldn't be surprised that the fans didn't like it.

    The problem for Lucasfilm is that there's a lack of creative direction and control. In the old days George Lucas was the artist making movies, writing stories, imagining possibilities. Lucasfilm was the engine that made his work possible and the company he created was designed to realize that singular mission. It was never a factory. Kathleen's problem is that she's not a creator, she's not a visionary, and she's not a talent. She's a bean counter and coffee getter. She facilitated production schedules and made sure that marks were hit and deliveries were on schedule. I've no doubt she can make business decisions that are good for the bottom line but when it comes to setting the creative standard for direction and talent and all that the creative process implies, she's not the right person for the job by any description. Lucasfilm needs a filmmaker/storyteller and Kathleen Kennedy isn't it. Bob Iger isn't it either.

    • @TheCriticSensei
      @TheCriticSensei  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You nailed it. George Lucas brought a unique vision to Star Wars, and Lucasfilm was built around realizing that vision. Kathleen Kennedy, while a capable producer, doesn't have that same creative spark or storytelling vision. The franchise needs someone who can guide it with the same passion and imagination that Lucas had, not just someone focused on the bottom line. It's not just about making movies-it's about telling stories that resonate, and that requires a true visionary at the helm.

    Go woke, go broke! Honestly the majority of Star Wars fans young and old just want to see Jedi and sith going at it with light sabers. Simple as that. With no woke garbage forced on us, I honestly would love to see new stories set after the 9 main films, something fresh, I’m soooo tired of star wars making shows that are in that timeline, time to move forward but keep the essence of the franchise alive with tons of badass lightsaber action, and new badass characters, with good writing and a good composer such as Ludwig gorrinson or someone. 😊

    I don't think a cancellation was ever a sure thing until it was. Look how long Discovery marched on. The mere fact that it was made or even allowed to see the light of day was just as odd as it not being canceled with no viewership. Ideology trumps all in their minds.
