The kid acting was BAD. I hate to bag on child actors because they’re rarely actually GOOD but SURELY there were better prospects than the children they picked in this series. The reason Star Wars was so successful in 1977 was that it came out in a shitty decade. IV came out, I always thought how cool it was to say 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,' and have technology that was old and abused looking, like the interior of the MF. The kid acting was BAD. I hate to bag on child actors because they’re rarely actually GOOD but SURELY there were better prospects than the children they picked in this series. THOUSANDS of kids would’ve done a much better job. Those girls were robotic, monotone, ran through their dialogue without a hint of inflection.

People were sick and tired of inflation, joblessness, the cold war, political bs, and the lingering stink of the Vietnam war. It was a simple story told well and was fun. That is it. Today there is so much dystopian crap on tv and it is boring! And with Star Wars people keep getting it wrong. It is not a deep, brooding, melancholy, morally questionable dystopia. It has to be fun, a roller coaster, humorous, bad guys that are just bad and good guys that are just good. Where people can joke around like normal people. "Aren't you a little short for a storm trooper?" "I''m Luke Skywalker I'm here to rescue you....." Can you imagine dialogue like that in any of the recent SW renditions? We need likeable characters. They do not need a complicated back story and we do not ever need to be told what that story is. It is better to let you invent the characters backstory. Stop trying to connect the dots. It is boring doing that.

Now when you see dead eyed deadpan Luke showing up to fight a bunch of robots, it's absolutely meaningless. I blame him, Filoni and Kathleen. They are Force is Female Acolytes.

If Star Wars wasn't dead, I'd feel better about this. I just feel like either way nothing Lucasfilm does will matter unless they full on acknowledged every failure and retconned it all (which of course won't happen)
George sold his soul years ago. His personal life journey doesn't have the ability for a redemption arc any longer.
George was great at world-building, but that's about it. JarJar, that cringy 'romance' between Vader and his wife, and just how freakin' bad StarWars (ep4) would have been if he didn't have top tier editors to save it are reason enough.
Now for them to take it off Disney+ and officially declare it non cannon. Now THAT would be a win for Star Wars

Even as a little kid, when the OG Stars Wars Ep. IV came out, I always thought how cool it was to say 'A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away,' and have technology that was old and abused looking, like the interior of the MF. It made me stare into the starry rural Pennsylvania sky and imagine that things may have happened a billion years ago way out there, on planets around stars in galaxies that we hadn't even viewed yet, and maybe never would. It breaks my heart what they did to Star Wars. I saw the first of the last trilogy, and could care less about the last two...don't know, don't care. Congratulations DEIsney...you ruining a fandom, and lost BILLIONS doing it...
