My biggest tip for would-be hunters is to mind the pace of your abilities versus your auto attack timing. Some of your abilities (mostly Serpent Sting and Arcane Shot) can overwrite your auto shots if used just before the auto is going off, which is a lot of lost damage! If you're really into mini-maxing this, there are a few addons that can help. Weapon Swing Timer and Quartz are fairly popular for that, though each has other functions as well.
Tips: If you're consistently using the same food for your pet, you can just use the food name, and it will feed from any slot so long as you have it available: #showtooltip Feed Pet /cast [pet, nodead] Feed Pet /use [pet, nodead] Wild Hog Shank Make macros for everything. Adding a ! in front of a spell name will stop a skill double-casting and wasting mana. Set your Aspects into macros too, and add targeting for faster leveling: #showtooltip Aspect of the Hawk /cast !Aspect of the Hawk /cleartarget [dead][help] /targetenemy [noexists] You can also set up a macro for melee when something goes awry. this should usually target the mob that's in your face: #showtooltip Aspect of the Monkey /cast !Aspect of the Monkey /cleartarget [dead][help] /cast !Raptor Strike /cast !Mongoose Bite /startattack
@@andreasjohansson1990 And you would do that constantly why exactly? just bind it to + and + or make it so you scroll in and out when holding alt, shift or control to do zooming.
I recently learned that an addon to track both timers for auto shot and melee is very helpful. This way you can melee an enemy that is next to you while still casting auto shots without delay on another enemy your pet is tanking. this way you get free damage, basically and are able to kill 2 enemies at the same time quite effectively.
Sometimes it is better to pull with your ranged weapon when a group of mobs is clustered together because then you can run them to near their reset range, send the pet in to get aggro on one of them, and let the rest run to their reset distance as they chase you, then fight the one on your pet, repeat until you have thined out the group enough for you to fight them without this method. You will usually find these clustered groups around chest spawn points so it can make getting the chest much easier.

Great guide, picked up some handy little points to use, very concise. For hunters on pvp servers, always sit on a frost trap, going to be rogues for days boys.
Depends on the timings, With a slower weapon you may get 4 shots off and with a faster you may get 5 shots off. the 5 shots hit for less but having an extra 20% shots generally means more damage.
@@Ghost-fe1vp slower weapons are always better for kiting, a faster weapon with enough of a dps upgrade can definitely be better for dps, but it will make kiting without a dps loss harder as you have to stop to shoot more often. Not saying never pick the faster weapon, just that if you pick up, let's say hurricane bow, don't expect to kite well without clipping a lot of auto attacks due to how fast the weapon attacks. But yes, a faster weapon can be enough of a damage upgrade to take it over the slower one, just don't go purely on the weapons dps as it can be worse even with better dps if you can't kite with it and still do the same damage over the kite distance. Also faster weapons can result in more ammo used and a higher gold cost per dps as well. Happy hunting
I'd reccomend using something on your left hand for pet controls. Using mouse controls while controlling your pet attack mouseover macro is generally harder and takes more time.

Some lesser known leveling pet tips: At level 15-16 I would seriously go tame a wind serpent. The reason being is at this level the ones that are tamed start out with Lightning Breath rank 2, skipping rank 1. Together with 25% damage increase from happiness, one bolt does around 26-29 damage a hit, and is ranged. This is super busted, doing even more damage than arcane shot for a few levels. At level 32 I would go tame a gorilla at level 32 as early as possible. The AOE ability they know is very strong for a few level, doing around 80 damage aoe. In leveling and 5 mans its very noticeable with how much damage it can do. At level 40 taming a scorpion from Tanaris is underrated, learning rank 3 scorpion poison. What makes it so strong is that the damage comparative to rank 2 is literally doubled with rank 3. Other than that sticking to a boar and cat is completely fine, this is for those of you that looking for a gameplay change or want to do the max level of dps every level.
Nice tips! That tip about mailing supplies was really good. But i would advise caution on Aspect-swapping on and disengage unless you really need it, since it can cost alot of mana. If possible I think it's better to auto-shot-kite into range of the next mob instead while you're killing the first.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
There are reasons to use pet aggressive. Guarding flags: put your pet on aggressive and park them next to the flag so you don't have to keep an eye on it. This allows you to focus on incoming players instead of watching for ninja caps. I could come up with more. Saying it should NEVER be used is just short-sighted.
Tip for lvl 1-10. Start the fight at Max range, AA then move away as the auto shot leaves you to the target, stop when your ranged attack is ready again to AA again. This can change 3 ranged AAs before you get your pet to 4-6 once you get concussive shot. This makes the pre 10 experience much easier and faster
Aggro management tip, when fighting a stronger mob it can be better to have aggro juggled between you and your pet, so let the mob run to you as you and your pet attack it (kite for Max effectiveness) as it gets to you, give your pet aggro as you get distance again, or use CC to get distance, or both. This can minimize damage taken from those mobs that hit like a truck.
Kiting is essential (remap S key), and learning it starts from day one. I have leveled several hunters, and I practice kiting on almost every mob. As a level 45 hunter (skinning) I have farmed skins in areas 15-20 levels above me in Wrath. In full disclosure, I was geared and on a PVE server. Funny thing is Horde players would see me and stop to see if I needed help. After a min or two, they would be like... Oh. He got this, then clap/salute and leave. LOL
@@BlackBirdBlitz I did this a lot as well. but in vanilla it is a little harder because concussive shot is a longer CD, though properly using cheetah can let you kite many mobs indefinatly, even casters if you stay out of their max range... well until you reach the maps end, then you might need a little more than just kiting lol (a little CC and go back the other way usually works :D )

I usually buy crossbow skill and get the Fine Light Crossbow with 10.7 dps from the bow vendor, and use that until i can get the Raptor one. It is pretty sick, has no RNG involved, and is available already at lvl 16.
Can't wait to play hunter in classic, playing on vanilla servers with them is great, but some servers didn't allow certain farming spots (nets added to mobs etc)
also, before casting Serpent Sting hit the mob with an auto shot before, cast the Serpent Sting in the time gap between the next auto shot, much more efficient
One thing to add about killing two targets at once: Do not just let your pet kill one mob solo. Shoot autoshots on the target your pet is on, then Meleehit the mob that is sitting on you until your autoshot-timer falls off so you can weave in another autoshot on your pets target. Make your pet attack your melee target at least once before you range attack it, so you can add a fd into that rotation to gain extra range attacks on your melee target before it reaches you. Once you get the hang of that, the mob-kill/h ratio will increase by quite a fair amount.
when I was kid I would saveee buffs when I needed them.... it took me +10years to figure out that I should spam the. whem ever I can lol. Using major cpoldowns immidiedly when leveling only speeds you up and the defencive spells I saved could have been used on cooldown and I could have gotten max level faster . . .started on vanilla max lvl in lich king
Putting this comment in before I'm watching the entire video so if we do end up covering it my bad but my biggest tip for hunters in classic is engineering you need it because you can make the best ammo in the game at that point also I did the little bit of math before any of the discounts and such a 16 slot ammo pouch will cost 1 gold and 60 silver to fill it from the vendor West shit arrows or ammo the ones that you can make at 60 have over 7.5 DPS on those but with engineering all it takes is just a 20-minute farm to farm up whatever ore you need
Tip for the immolation trap: Instead of casually smacking the second mob in melee range when killing 2 at a time, kite it so you can keep shooting it for quicker kills. Incredibly effective, especially at the early levels when you just get your imo trap.
0:52 Wrong, Agressive is very very good for when you want to tag a popular quest monster that's about to respawn before anyone else. The pet will react before the model is visible and use it's charge/rush/etc move. There are other applications, all of them niche, but it's not completely useless.
You just use /target *Quest Monster* /cast Arcane Shot or u just place a fire trap under his spawn. anyway i still do it on aggresive, but its still useless, cuz every druid can target it a way faster than u :D
I know this video is really old now.. but Carrion birds are super useful, they have Screech, which lowers the attack power of all the mobs around the targeted mob and they have high armor, making them good tanking pets. ZG Bats have faster attack speed (1.0 seconds), so you want that for PvP and Carrion birds for PvE
Aggro pulling once you have feign death. Keep pet on stay a decent distance from the large group, you auto attack, concussive shot, trap, scatter, exc. To create distance between the mobs themselves. Have pet auto attack closest one, fight death immediately. This should reset all of the mobs except the one on your pet because the other mobs will only have the hunter on the aggro table and not the pet. Wind serpent is the best pet for this as it's ranged ability makes this much more reliable. You can do this with party members as well if you get the timing down however keep in mind some mobs are tethered together. So this method won't work on everything.
141:28 I find it funny how Arcane Shot and Multi-Shot have so different tooltips. Arcane shot the CD 6sec cooldown is on the left under the mana, but on the right at multishot. Also on Multishot it states it is instant, in white (in place of the 6 sec cd on arc shot line) and on Arcane shot it states it is instant in the yellow bottom text. I guess streamlining tooltips wasn't a thing back then :P
Ok, this I one thing I observed since starting playing hunter this pass weeked and I'm looking for confirmation/denial: I start with auto-shot, the quickly follow up with concussion, damage gets applied immediately. If I open up with an ability shot, like sting, I basically sit there looking at the mob until global CD goes down or auto-shot kicks in. For mobs that are below my level and don't want to waste time sending pet in, I press auto-shot key followed quickly by concussion, so the effect gets applied as early as possible, increasing the time mob gets to me, allowing me to pump in more shots.
Dash and claw are tiger specific. Owls and carrion birds have screech instead which is quite strong. Consider getting a carrion bird to learn screech and an owl for the strong offense power and screech. Screech lowers dmg of enemies in an aoe, quite potent!
@@TheBosama maybe after classic is out, I didn't get a beta so I can't make videos as I would have to use private server footage, which isn't legal to begin with, and there's a few things I would need to confirm work vs what I remember. And well I'll give punkrat the chance to do it first. See if he gets it right or not
If your ranged weapon is attack speed over 2.0 use multishot, if your attack speed is under 2.0 use arcane shot. There is leeway depending on current weapon/ammo and what current level of arcane/multishot you have but thats the general efficiency rule. Experience hunters to 60 in classic and 3 Private Servers.

I usually buy crossbow skill and get the Fine Light Crossbow with 10.7 dps from the bow vendor, and use that until i can get the Raptor one. It is pretty sick, has no RNG involved, and is available already at lvl 16.
Private server stuff. Should be 7.4 dps on live:

Sorry dudes :(
Can't wait to play hunter in classic, playing on vanilla servers with them is great, but some servers didn't allow certain farming spots (nets added to mobs etc)
also, before casting Serpent Sting hit the mob with an auto shot before, cast the Serpent Sting in the time gap between the next auto shot, much more efficient
I didn't know you would use multishot for single target, but that is awesome.
Tip nr.1 to lvling remember to have fun
when I was kid I would saveee buffs when I needed them.... it took me +10years to figure out that I should spam the. whem ever I can lol.
0:54 aggressive has its purpose. 'Never' is pretty strong.
this is a really good guide!
Tip for the immolation trap:
Instead of casually smacking the second mob in melee range when killing 2 at a time, kite it so you can keep shooting it for quicker kills.
You just use
/target *Quest Monster*
/cast Arcane Shot
or u just place a fire trap under his spawn.
anyway i still do it on aggresive, but its still useless, cuz every druid can target it a way faster than u :D
/tar arcane shot is pretty much only beat out by /tar earth shock. Aggresive pets used in the way the op described can just be unreliable.
I'm torn between mage and hunter. I'm gonna be a pretty casual player, and both have such good perks!
cant go wrong either way
Aggro pulling once you have feign death.
Super good guides, many many thanks man!
Great guide man :) Lots of little tips :)
Really good guide. Thank you
and why do no one ever mention that track hidden increases stealth detection?
Because it literally says it in the name...... Everyone with a IQ over that of a ladybug would know
Yes!!!
Can you make a guide about how to level from 0 to 60 by questing please...

Good shit man! Hopefully ull do one on each class
These Techniques are actually genius!
Much clearer video well done !!
Great video mate!
Im rolling a Hunter after this video! BTW what addon do you use for the combat/xp font?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks very good tips
Great videos m8! Keep on going !!!
DO MAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, this I one thing I observed since starting playing hunter this pass weeked and I'm looking for confirmation/denial:
I start with auto-shot, the quickly follow up with concussion, damage gets applied immediately.
Screech lowers dmg of enemies in an aoe, quite potent!
owls and bats have "dive" which is the same as dash
also, i think you may have a problem with ASMR, are you in need of an intervention? xD
@@Punkrat I like asmr 👍, you should checkout Catplant
I've never minded using ctrl+1'2'3 for pets attack
Great job !
Thank you man! Love ya
Holy pussycats.. that is a lot of info in a short timespan. Great vid 😀 Bookmarking this for Classic release.
Oh and.. have a sub.
The best part is his "info" is only about 15-20% of hunter tips / tricks
@@alfavhunter7010 .. You gonna provide the rest of it? 😆 I'll accept
@@TheBosama maybe after classic is out, I didn't get a beta so I can't make videos as I would have to use private server footage, which isn't legal to begin with, and there's a few things I would need to confirm work vs what I remember. And well I'll give punkrat the chance to do it first. See if he gets it right or not
Good guide, thx
Awesome guide !!
Immolation trap is a game changer
Go easy with work my friend ! Great vid !
Peace
I dont know how to do that lol, im quite obsessive
i made 4 videos this weekend :D
If your ranged weapon is attack speed over 2.0 use multishot, if your attack speed is under 2.0 use arcane shot.
There is leeway depending on current weapon/ammo and what current level of arcane/multishot you have but thats the general efficiency rule.
Experience
hunters to 60 in classic and 3 Private Servers.
the numbers i showed were from actual testing lol
@@Punkrat Whoops my bad, crappy screen misread, but the rule is valid and even works for your numbers.
Will edit my post to fix.
Paladin next please! Great videos man I really enjoy these
Your videos are amazing!
Love that pet attack/recall logic!
