Here's a weird tip. You can connect your phone to your deck with bluetooth and any audio you play on your phone will play on the deck. Another convenient way to listen to a podcast or music while gaming.
This works a little, but anything that comes out of my headphones pauses every few seconds making it pretty much unusable. Maybe it works with wired headphones and speakers, but it doesn't look like it works with Bluetooth headphones.
I think I watched every single video about the Steam deck a week before I got it delivered and yet I found a couple of nice tips that I didn't know about in this video. Thanks!
@@Medsas What tips did he repeat? He gave a few different tips related to storage instead of just saying "upgrade the storage," but he didn't repeat any of them.
Steam deck is the greatest handheld of all time, at least for me. You guys just don't know how long I've been waiting for a handheld that allow yous to play 3rd party games on the go. I've had a GB Advance, DS, DSI, 3DS, Switch, PSP, and PS Vita. Being able to play GTA4, GTA5, COD, Just Cause, day one automatically was a dream and now it's a reality. I dont have to hope and wonder if a certain game is coming out for a specific handheld anymore because if its coming to PC then it's coming to the Steam Deck.
I've had the original Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS. Sadly never got around to psp, Vita, or that Sega handheld. I've also got an Anbernic device. The Steam Deck is an absolute game changer. It's the most exciting thing I've purchased in years.
No filler tips? You can't be serious, have you read the comments? But his style of delivery of info is top tier. Makes great vids, not his fault deck is limited with tips and info.
Amazing video! I've had my deck for like half a year, so I thought I found every kink of it to optimise, but your guide gave me like 3-4 more things to play with. Thank you!
Look into touch menus in steam input if you play some non gamepad games. Its the best thing I have ever seen in any os. You can basically add infinite inputs to just one trackpad.
One thing to maybe do, is depending on the type of game you are playing or what you are doing, is you can put a shortcut on your desktop that leads you to game save folders. You can copy save game files, rename backups, and even if you set it up on a LAN with your main pc and set up a network drive, you can manually transfer save game files between your PC and steamdeck! My cloud data refused to sync when I tried to play Deep Rock Galactic one time. This save file was like 50 hours past where it was on my deck, so there was no way I was just gonna eat the loss of time. I hadnt used the desktop mode before this incident, but it really opened my eyes to just how cool the steamdeck is!
I'll be honest, most of these I already knew, but I love watching these videos for the simple things that I might miss. Like #37, I had no idea about the Xbox controller syncing and I'm excited to give this a try for myself later today. Gave the video a thumbs up and good on ya.
These are actually great tips! I love the fact that buying accessories was only one of the tips, I hate those "10 things to do before using your steam deck" that are 90% "buy this accessory"
Absolutely phenomenal video full of useful tips, many of which I never thought of (like the left trackpad as scroll wheel on the desktop mode). I’m surprised your subscriber count isn’t 20x what it should be. Did my bit to rectify that 😌
Nicely done, loads of tight packed information neatly delivered. Doing research as my Deck is comming soon. And we plan to use it as a media device next to our TV as well.
Thank you, I just ordered a steam deck and this will make my initial setup experience very streamlined and future setting fiddling much easier to navigate, also thanks for tips regarding power management and refresh rate for smother game play ❤ Liked and subscribed!
That tip about taking advantage of sales is so true. I’m getting the steam deck in a few days so I’ve been wishlisting games. I wishlisted Resident Evil 2 yesterday and earlier today I got an email telling me it was 75% off. It went down from $54 to $14! (Those are Australian dollars btw)
Great vid brother. I just ordered my 64gb model today along with a 512gb 2230 card. Yall, please dont spend the several hundred extra for the 512gb. You can easily swap out the storage card and add your own matte screen protector, all for under $100.
Look into touch menus in steam input if you ever install a game and realize its keyboars and mouse only. It gives you infinite amount of inputs in just a one trackpad.
I love my steam deck! Got it for my bday and honestly I find myself playing on the steam deck a lot compared to my pc. I love sitting in my back yard while playing black ops 3 custom zombies, Metro redux, and more. It’s also hilarious when you’re gaming with your buddies outside while on the hotspot or wifi

I found out number 17 and when I did, it made my day. Thought almost 70% of my library was actually incompatible and after just trying to run them, that number decreased to around 5%. Only games Steam Deck doesn't support so far are some using online anti cheat software, like EasyAntiCheat or similar.
Great work!! Real nice tips covering a lot of different things. Was just having issues with a game freezing and one of your tips actually solved my problem 👍👍 awesome.
@@galagast-fx I turned on "keep downloading while playing" to try it out, and was playing smaller games for a while so everything ran fine and ended up forgetting about it.. and when I played something more demanding it kept freezing. Just ordered my Deck yesterday! Can't wait. It will actually be my first time owning a proper handheld gaming console. Never had a game boy or PSP or anything back in the day. I'm just starting with the base model and a few basic accessories... and of course a dbrand skin/screen protector. I have a couple of 2TB external HDD's, so I'll try using one of those (through a USB hub) before upgrading the SSD. I'm gonna wait on the Killswitch until they come out with some more attachments for it, which they have hinted at. Eventually I'm planning to get a folding keyboard for it so I can play games like Factorio or Timberborn. Of course if anybody has any suggestions for accessories that you believe are Must Have, I'd love to hear them.

You should really add touch menus in steam input. They are totally game changer for non gamepad games and games with lot of inputs. For those who dont know its a way to add infinite inputs in your trackpads. Basiacally you can set trackpad to use touch menu, set if you want radial or box menu and add lots of inputs. When you touch the pad in game it will open menu in corner and you can click any slot that you created and it will create input. Also theres lot of icons for the slot. Like in witcher 1 I have setup slots for spells and I added icon representing every cast. Also you can open another touch menu with the menu. So that means you can have infinite inputs. In witcher one I use right trackpad to wield silver and steel swords and also slots for other weapons from 1 to 3. On the left trackpad I have slots for casts, quick slots for items from inventory and also save icon slot that opens another menu with quicksave and quickload.
Great content and smooth transitions ! thank you very much. Also, what is the game that appears round 1:25 ? looks good but i have no clue what it might be. Thank you !
