The reason some of your animations aren’t booting or suspending in full screen is because you need to download the plugin called ‘full suspend’ in CSS Loader. This will then expand those animations to fill the screen instead. Highly recommend!
A small tip - you don't actually need to press Steam+X to open a keyboard in desktop mode, the combination is only needed in games. In desktop, just pressing X is enough. Figured that out mere four months after getting a deck :')

I didn't see Pause Games on here. It's my favorite one by far. Pause Games suspends the game in Linux and can help mitigate that annoying crackling audio issue on resuming a game after wake up, but what's even cooler is that you can use Pause Games to pause a game and then START ANOTHER GAME without closing the other paused game. supposedly it has no impact on performance but I've only ever tried it with a couple games at a time. Doesn't work great on multiplayer games, obviously

Be careful overdoing it on the plug-ins. I love using these plugins, but I had to uninstall some of them because some were causing problems and glitches. I had to remove Animation Changer cause it once prevented my screen from booting up. Had to download files from my computer to fix it. It was awful. It was one year ago however, still I don’t want to take any chances so for now the plug-in is uninstalled (sadly). I hope it’s better now but y’all be careful using too many plug-ins. :l
Not sure if anyone mentioned it in the comments yet, but to get full screen suspend animations you just need to install a plugin for it from the decky shop.
What if im satisfied with the UI? Seems like all these "must have" plugins are just for changing the appearance and doesn't make it do anything new. Even those proton badges are just an icon and not something that improves the Deck. Some games on ProtonDB need some extra config to get that rating. One of the batman games tells me its gold but it always crashes on launch.
Yeah, I agree with you. I used to have all sorts of plugins on my Deck, but then I had a real scare when I thought I had bricked it. Factory Reset and never installed them again. I miss some of the customizations, but not nearly as much as I thought I would. I trade customizations away in favor of having peace of mind.
obsidian is a game changer it looks amazing on the oled. I had an lcd and sold it a bit ago bc i didnt use it that much and obsidian was nice but on my new oled its amazing.
If you turn off pixels on the screen with that one feature the pixels that are turned on are more likely to wear out with screen burn, Depending. on How static you keep your system? when they're off, you're also saving their longevity because they do wear out overtime And if you're running a lot of pixels and certain areas are pure black, they're not burning their time. So they'll stay bright while the often illuminated areas become dim. The more random the pexils are lighted the less likely to get screen burn in.
Most likely won't be an issue. It's already been tested. Some guy tried it & had to leave the display on the same screen for 1500 hours for some _minor_ burn in. Literally should not be an issue.
I'm new to Steam Deck and it will be my first handheld PC and I'm planning on doing dual boot with windows on it. Does customizing my SteamOS settings and adding plug-ins affect how Windows will function after dual booting it?
i tried it and i must say it is cool but has performance impact on my steam deck. i notice that it become slower in response after installing just 2 or 3 plugins and start heavier. i only install the two of the most popular and recommended ones
I’m not saying Decky is bad or Cryoutilities is bad; but my Deck almost bricked recently, and I’m entirely sure it was because of one or both of these tools. It took me almost a week of researching and asking around on communities and Discords to get it back from the dead. The solution involved having to perform a full Factory Reset, but even after that my Deck never went back to normal - it still sometimes boots into the bios for no reason and/or restarts to the non-updated version after I perform a system update. These tools are excellent and I miss their functionality, but I decided to never install them again (at least not on this particular machine). I’d rather miss out on their functionality than risk having to go through that ordeal and stress again.
@@FBracht I mean you said you did a complete factory reset which would remove all traces of that software and now you’re getting issues like it booting into the bios for no reason. The software you’re blaming doesn’t even run until SteamOS is booted so it can’t be causing that problem. Some people have had stability issues from Decky like crashes in SteamOS, but uninstalling it and especially performing a factory reset completely resolves those issues. It sounds like you have a hardware defect that started happening around the time you used Decky and you’re blaming it on that software. If you still have warranty coverage on your Deck you should send it in for a replacement.
The built in color profile slider does not go far enough when playing games from the 360 era. Vibrant deck is necessary to make those games visually palatable.
