@@alexdroog7236 gamepass / xbox app wont work on steamos unfortunately. Gamepass ypu need to either use cloud streaming or windows on deck

Hey guys I'm the creator of NonSteamLaunchers, first and foremost thank you to everyone who has tried to use my little script for the majority of the year. I also want to say I hear your frustrations, hopefully very soon most of these issues will be fixed, going forward, please keep your eye on the Decky Plugin Version of NSL in the Testing Store of Decky Loader. Going forward I recommend that over the desktop version.
i am trying that now and it doesn't install the epic store for me, allow it to show up, or let me boot it
Do you mean we should not follow the first half of this tutorial video and should instead just install Decky, then go to the Testing Store of Decky Loader and install the NSL plugin there and go about my business that way?
@@flowersniffin9233 I had the same issue and found that going into the apps properties > compatibility > force > proton experimental let it work for me w/out issue.

Roy, this video didn't work for me, the apps crash on launch. So I read this reply and installed Decky Loader on your recommendation. I enabled pre-release, but there's NOT any reference to your application there. Please explain what I'm doing wrong.
Holding the steamm button on the launcher will allow you to use the mouse without having to change controls too. In case anybody didn't wannna do all that extra stuff for all the launchers.

Can you describe how to do this in a little more detail? I have a deck coming and not sure what the steam button is. Do you mean a physical button or an on-screen button?

What about scrolling with the left trackpad how do you set that up? Like how it is on desktop mode
And why is Epic launcher not full screen when choosing games i choose to maximize it and its stuck at a square aspect ratio
If you move your finger clockwise on the left track pad it will scroll down.

Congrats. If for whatever reason this method doesn’t work well for you there are other methods as well. I still prefer doing each manually myself

I have been hesitant of doing anything remotely like this with my SteamDeck. I was afraid I would brick it, as I am not really computer savvy. Seeing this video gives me more confidence that I can do it. Thank you!!
You usually brick stuff updating your firmware/bios, these are simple programs so don't worry, if they cause any issue it's very very rare that a program like this brick your whole device.
If you do end up bricking it you can at least get the recovery file from steam. Will suck having to start fresh but at least it’s there as an option.
When you feel like that do it anyways dive deep into it your gonna hit snags and head/heartaches but when you succeed your gonna feel great and want to move into more ambitious projects win lose or draw you gained some xp so level up fellow gamer 😎

I had to recover mine after a dual boot I did without the sd card in 🤷♂️

Yup. I did the same on oled. It does still work. Same quirks as always tho. Sometimes it does successfully add the lau chers to steam in which case its easy to add yourself. Working on an upddated video for this guide but yea this still works

I can’t get either launchers to successfully play Fortnite. If I try to launch the app it just says failure to open properly.
@@sethsmith4963 fortnite needs anti cheat to run. You’ll have to dual boot windows. Just make a windows to go on an SD card and install it there.
@@sethsmith4963 pretty sure Fortnite is blocked on Steam Deck. Linux in general I think.

Hey guys be aware that this method keeps getting broke then fixed. I hope it gets stable as when it works like it did for me when making the video its magic. But when it doesn’t it’s frustrating. I still prefer installing all these launchers one at a time manually. I have videos for that and will be working on an updated video as well. As for this app keep an eye on it for updates and fixes. I was on stable os with just one profile logged into the deck when this was working. If you go thru the proamd the launchers arent auto added to steam for some reason. Usually you can go to where they were installed and still add them manually as you normally would. If this method doesn’t work out for you just uninstall everything and do these manually. They work great that way.
dam i just tried it and it broke my battle net link and i had diablo 3 downloaded, how do i delete it now?
This method is just bad, period. The maintainer doesn't follow conventions and everything uses a single prefix. Neither of these things are good, and this developer should be shunned until he starts doing things right. Use Lutris instead

So what’s the point of having these launchers in steam? Do all the games inside them work now? I thought heroic launcher was the way to play Epic stuff 🤔

My only question is... Do you use this only for games you own on these platforms only ? Or also for games you own in steam which use these platforms ?

This instructions was useful and great. However, how do I add the games that I installed from their respective launchers to be added to the steam library because for some odd reason I can’t find the file path of the game itself that I installed from the respective launchers on the steam deck

To the people who cant get the launchers to show in steam after installing, go to the launcher again and tap Uninstall, delete the ones that arent loading then simply reinstall them, if that doesnt work I am not sure unfortunately, enjoy and thank you for teaching us

For those of you still having issues after installing the launchers, with them not showing up on Steam. What I found to have worked for me: go to desktop mode, discover app, install ProtonUP-QT. And then install the launchers as in this video (I personally did one by one). I was missing the ProtonUP-QT step beforehand, and after that install, things seemed to work for me; hopefully helps anyone else still having issues.
I followed all steps , reboot SD and it doesn't show any launcher in my library? Any suggestions?

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but when steam restarts, non of the launchers are there. I tried to reinstall using the cleanup option and reload, but still they are not there.

Everything says installed, restarted steam but none of the apps are showing in my library at all, any ideas? i do have the tabs checked to show the different software on the games list.

@@danpelos i just had to go back the other way to do it, by going to each of the sites, downloading the launcher and adding non steam game that way. Everything showed up and was able to install that way. Sometimes these easier automated ways seem appealing and easier but not always reliable.

Thanks for this; Very smooth process and games that you install from the launchers show up as playable games in Deck Mode, which is handy (no additional configuration or "add to library" type fiddling necessary).

Okay so I just got a deck this morning as a gift from the wifey pooh.
So those of you that are having a problem with game pass, what I did was unclicked the force compatibility experimental mode. You don’t need it at all!
It then launched as an app & didn’t time out or crash while launching.
My controllers work as well. Thanks for the video fam!

A part from gog games all other launchers don't let you launch their games without the launcher anyway

Same here, so I just reinstalled everything one or two at a time and it worked. I also restarted the deck before just in case
EA did not work for me, it does not open at all.
When i double click that file you are opening it opens some text field with program names kate and it will not open the window with launchers named or anything, it's just like notepad full of lines and nothing opening . Was trying different browsers and so forth it always asks which app to use to open with and none works and there's no execute command . Such a mess
That sucks. Haven’t had that in any of my setups but ive seen other comments similar. Just doesn’t work on some decks for various reasons and it can change with updates. Takes less than 5 min to setup each launcher the old manual way. Videos on channel if u need help.
@@GameTechPlanet thanks ! I've managed to get it working , so turns out you can only download it to a desktop and open it in a desktop then it opens , any other folder then desktop doesn't work. Epic , blizzard , ubisoft and rockstar went fine then origin took long to install and only running in a deck mode after restarting deck and TH-cam, Netflix and others doesn't work . Thanks again ! All major ones work just ubisoft have issues with keyboard and login

Got my SD a couple days ago. Installed Lutris yesterday and although it was a bit clunky to set up, it seems really good (though I uninstalled it as I'm going to dual boot Windows anyway). Glad there's more options!
I tried the Heroic Launcher a while ago, but even with a seperate Proton app/ launcher I couldn't get anything to work. So maybe this app restores some faith in me being able to do this.
(I also tried Xemu on both Steam Deck and my pc and both didn't work as intented either despite following the instruction video to a tee😭😭)
So Heroic works with pretty much all games, own experience, if that's not the case with you, then you're definitely making a mistake. I suspect you have not set Proton correctly. This is installed outside of Heroic and selected in Heroic. It definitely works, the program is an absolute dream.
Same here, heroic stopped working randomly after following tutorial strictly, hope this regains my trust in these type of work around for now. Until either it's official in valves book

Non of the apps show up in my steam library automatically after the install. I have to manually browse and add them. Also the EA launcher is just completely broken. It isn't in it's install folder at all and every time I try to uninstall and reinstall it using the all-in-one software I just get error saying path not found or available.

Wait for the program to close itself it may take a bit but if you close it yourself it won't work, just follow the video.

It’s weird almost all launchers work perfectly through Proton but not Xbox App 😂
Xbox app runs through UWP and is tightly integrated into Windows which means it's just not possible to get it running on Linux through Proton. UWP apps are encrypted which is why when all Microsoft Store games were forced to be UWP apps people couldn't modify their files at all for backing up saves or modding their games.
Hey thanks for the video, but do you know if the games installed from these launchers are automatically added to the library, as non-steam games, or do I have to do something else? I wouldn't like if I must open up epic launcher, for instance, every time I want to play a specific game

Once you have the launcher and dl the game do you just use that to launch the game instead of adding the game to the steam library or should you just use it to install games and then add to library and configure proton?

Excellent video my man. I am currently looking at the Asus and the Steam Deck decided which i would go with, I am a Avid WoW player and want to know if this works to play WoW on the Steam deck? I like the extra buttons the Deck has over the Asus but i like the versatility of the Asus so, this would make the Deck a better selection if it works with my fav games that are not steam. I dont like the idea of having to stream games from my desktop to the Deck.
I use Heroic Games Launcher for Epic Games and GOG stuff, I can see this being useful for other launchers though.
Just ordered mine, a lot to unpack but so worth it.

How does updating the launchers work? Is it just opening them in desktop mode once and a while to let them update? or do you haver to use the software again?

Nice video. Some of the launchers packaged don't seem to work shutting down without an error such as xbox games pass, youtube and twitch. Any ideas what to do to get these working?
for me they are not added to my library automatically, but I could add them manually by "Add a non-steam game" feature, and they are working. But there are some app, for example the EA app where during install it doesn't ask me where to install, so good luck finding it lol
