      Please, don't apologize for pausing and commenting! Some people, me included don't just want to stare to some weirdo who listens to our favourite song or performer and see him/her/whatever, nowadays, making faces and say how much they love it. Some of us actually want to learn something.
      So, just keep it that way, you're doing just fine. You clearly know what you're talking about, knowlidgeable, professional, relaxed, not overly dramatic and at the same time not boring. Thumbs up (I wish I had more of those)!

      I could see that you appreciated his switches between male and female voice at 16:05. However, I also noticed that you seemed to be focusing on the key change when he was doing his fastest switch in the song which you can see starting at 18:34.
      There, within a note, he switches from female voice to male voice, while changing keys, as you mentioned. Not even the slightest pause to prepare, or for a breath, just 1 note female voice, next note male voice in a different key. The way he is able to switch female to male normally, with just a second to prepare is a huge talent, but going from female to male within a note and changing keys was jaw-dropping when I saw it. With even expert singers, with years of training, doing something like that would be extremely difficult, and he does it without a hint of difficulty and no training. He's an amazing talent.

    Marcelito is a self taught singer. He has no formal training of any kind up until this day. He discovered his singing technique of imitating singers while he was tending chickens in a poultry pen in his teenage years.

    • @JustMyOpinion1010

      He would do well to get training now that he can afford it. Even Pavarotti trainer with a coach until he died.

    To this date, nobody has been able to explain Marcelito’s gift/talent, specially if it comes from God. As an opera singer try doing it while seated. Thanks for your reactions.

    • @JustMyOpinion1010
      @JustMyOpinion1010 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's a matter of not being able to. More so that people perhaps haven't taken the time. Marcellito has a fairly wide range, but nothing he does is particularly difficult to explain if you know something about vocal technique.

    • @vvoof2601
      @vvoof2601 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can't come from something that doesn't exist.

    • @JustMyOpinion1010
      @JustMyOpinion1010 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vvoof2601 his range really isn't astoundingly big. Yes he was anatomically blessed but you need to then make the most of it through training. It is impressive that we managed to teach himself, but now he can afford it and definitely should continue with formal training. If he doesn't it would be like butting his candle of talent under a bucket.

  • @elisadelapena4429

    Many vocal coaches and reactors say Marcelito's high- ranged voice is not falsetto. It is called counter tenor.

    • @maudglazbrooke1287
      @maudglazbrooke1287 ปีที่แล้ว

      counter tenor is the range, falsetto is the mechanism

    • @maudglazbrooke1287
      @maudglazbrooke1287 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gailseatonhumbert It is also used to quickly describe the range in which that voice type sits, on top of that counter tenors may or may not be singing in falsetto. So declaring that "Marcelito isn't singing in falsetto it's counter tenor" is remarkably like saying it's not a stick shift, it's a car. Well, some cars are stick shifts.

    Always have wondered what Celine Dion and Sarah Brightman would think of Marcelitos' impressions of them. Probably never know. If anyone cares, there is video of his cover of "Endless Love" where he imitates Diana Ross and Lionel Richie. Not quite as good, but you can tell it's supposed to be them.

    I'm guessing, but I believe he learned to sing just copying the original singers. Why? Bcuz he was homeless from age 7 until age 24. He literally sung for his food. He won Philippines Got Talent singing The Prayer, which finally got him off the street. He spoke no English or Italian. So he had no idea what he was singing. He was on the Ellen show where he needed a translator.

    • @wellasang
      @wellasang ปีที่แล้ว

      That is actually true. There are only a few Filipino singers who have really trained professionally. Most took “lessons” from listening to seasoned singers on tv. It is only when they either win in a major competition or get a contract with major tv organisation do they get some form of professional training.

    I would love to see you react to Zhou Shen performing this song. I'm curious what you would have to say about his vocal technique. He has a very high voice and apparently his voice didn't drop during puberty, so I don't even know what his vocal classification is or if he uses entirely different techniques than a normal countertenor(?) or what, but regardless, his voice is INSANE and amazing.

    • @PeterBarber
      @PeterBarber  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He doesn't always -- he switches between registers. These aren't my opinions -- these are facts about voice physiology, and I'm sorry to say the other vocal coaches are simply mistaken if they say he never sings in a falsetto or head voice.

    I've never liked this 'duet with myself' concept. It simply feels like a good singer doing a circus act. There are many songs that lend themselves to a singer displaying his wider range. Dimash sings many such songs, or re-arranged some that he covered. Marcellito would do himself more justice that way.
