It was different genres in one arrangement. Jazz, rock, rap etc...And the dynamics of her voice, the runs perfectly aligned with every instrument that backed her up. Phenomenal.
I remember way back before KZ was part of mainstream Filipino media, I remember in her audition, she mentioned that she had an issue with her throat (I forgot the term) and that prevented her from reaching higher range of notes. Thus, she often makes arrangements to the songs she sings to fit her range.
Don't expect any crazy high notes from KZ. She had a throat issue (polyps) when she was young so instead she uses her creativity and spunk to compete against other high belter singers in the Philippines.
That's what I love about her. She did not let anything stop her. She took what she had, modified it, and proved that, no matter what setbacks you have you can still achieve greater if you are willing to put in the time.
Truly appreciate how you evaluate KZ's tonal quality and interpretation of the song. It even made me appreciate more her skills as a singer. Filipinos are great singers indeed!
If I remember correctly KZ said in an interview that she used reverb in the intro rather than autotune. It's just that she's so good that it sounds like autotune.
FINALLY, a "detailed" reaction to my "all-time favorite" live performance! Many reactors have tried, some have even done a good job, but it really takes experience plus 37 minutes to do KZ justice! Definately, continue to react to KZ! You've barely seen half her talents!
From the same show, see KZ's cover of "Say Something". She had to switch songs at the last minute, flew in her guitarist from the Philippines, and only had one rehearsal. Also - if you look at 33:14 on your video, she caught her left earring as it came off, and you can see it in her hand after that point.
I’m happy you finally discovered one of the most talented overall musicians and performers of all time. She really can do it all. She can imitate instruments like a trumpet, she can sing several genres, whether it’s reggae, or jazz or hip-hop or folk. You really haven’t even scratched the surface. And I hope you’re going to be unlike other reactors, who just see her once or twice and stop. I want you to really dive in with interest, because she really is worth it!
She's one of my favorite Filipino singer. Shes good changing the arrangement of the songs! Shes not a belter but she has that authentic tone and style in singing that made her different from the other singers!
This was so unexpected but really pleasant to see you react to KZ Tandingan! She's a consummate performer and mixer of styles and genres. Vocal damage limited her range when she was younger but she's developed and deepened her musicality and creativity to carve a unique niche for herself! More than just a singer!
Wow KZ in the house, thank u to support our very own Philippines artist We truly appreciate that, We proud Pinoy here, the Land of singers in the world❤️🇵🇭.
She used to rearrange every song she sing and made her own, putting diff. genres and style.... Her unique versatility is amazing, and called to be the supreme soul of the Philippines...
KZ's way. She breaks down a song to pieces, picks up the meat, and reconstruct the song into a brand new piece. A new look. New emotion. New message. New sound. Here while the original was plaintive, KZ's version is defiant and resilient.
You were very close to correctly pronouncing her last name… that is to say, you didn’t (incorrectly) add a G sound to the NG part of Tandingan. So, phonetically, it’s /tAHn-DEE-ngAHn/. Soft T, accent on the 2nd syllable, & the A is pronounced as you would the A in the interjection “Aha!” Thanks for this amazing reaction and analysis (& long😅) video!🙌🏼
OMG. Here we go our KZ is here. Our ladies (Mori, KZ and Gigi) are prominently present in your video Peter and heartfelt thanks. 🙏🏻. She’s noted in rearranging all her covers herself and brilliant. Please kindly react to her Say Something and See you Again. Here her voice texture in these two songs were very clean and buttery in same show in the Singer 2018. Thank you so much for the best reaction …. 👍😊. NB: that rap section, one joke comment was “ careful when a Filipina woman gets mad” 😂
Wow, thanks for featuring KZ. Try her cover of Close To You by the Carpenters from her MOA arena concert and you will discover her hidden talent. Shes an amazing artist.
I love you, Peter, and I love your comments. I noticed you're running out of words to describe how authentic Filipino singers are! I'm truly glad you've been discovering the multiple talents they have. Yes, KZ, Gigi, and Morisette are just a handful of world class talents we have here! Keep safe always, Peter, GOD bless you! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this reaction! You’re the first reactor I’ve seen breakdown the technique of auto tune and rapping on this performance. There are so many different elements that make this an amazing performance and you do a great job of breaking it all down. I’m here for all of your Morissette, Gigi and KZ reactions.
I have never seen you so animated in your reaction vid as much as this. But I’m here for this 22:26. It’s nice to see artist being inspired by other artists. It’s like sharing your own little world with each other and giving us the privilege of being a front seat viewer.
Wooh!! I learned new stuff from you on the technical sides of singing which can definitely help me out sing more beautifully! Thanks for this video. ❤😊
Great reaction! The wide vibrato through the strong autotune sounds like an instrumental trill. I like how after KZ goes off on her own to do the rapping, she reconnects with the band through her ad libs before starting the next verse.
I always watch out for the notification of KZ's live on Instagram as it's like an intimate concert where she just sing for at least an hour, taking requests from viewers. You'll see how artistic and creative she is on the spot.
HI PETER, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING AND LISTENING TO KZ TANDIGAN FOR A WHILE AND SHE IS REALLY GOOD...BUT I DO APPRECIATE MORE WITH YOUR INPUT ON HOW YOU ANALYZED THE PERFORMANCE AND THE NEW VERSION OF "ROLLING IN THE DEEP"... I LEARNED SOME POINTERS FROM YOU ON HOW YOU EXPLAINED ALMOST EVERY DETAIL AT EVERY LINE OF THE SONG. IT WAS MY FIRST TIME TO SEE A REACTION LIKE WHAT YOU SHARED TO US...THANK YOU PETER.
Thanks again for reacting to our local artists! I learn a lot technically and artistically from your inputs. I prefer KZ's live cover of this song on the wish bus, Don't like the auto tune though, in any song. ❤️ From the 🇵🇭
Very intelligent and musical reaction! I am glad that, even with your classical training, you are able to analyze and react to more "popular" genres of vocal music - on its own terms! Not to mention enjoy yourself. Well done! (BTW, I am a professional classical musician myself. I have listened to some of your own classical music performances available online and have been impressed by your technique and expressiveness. 👍👍👍 All best.
Dear Sir Peter, This is where she showed her superiority over the other artists that you have featured...her amazing stage presence. She isn't just a good singer, she's a performer ! Thanks.
The Asia's Soul Express Singer Ms. KZ Tandingan from the Philippines. 🇵🇭 She arranged all the songs she sang in that competition. What a brilliant and talented singer /comoser/arranger. 👌
Such passion in her singing. In the autotune in the beginning where she sings "inside your hand" you can see the pain in that phrase through her movements and face. Then when the normal part starts after that she has such flair and sass! With the jazziness of it, she reminds me of Erykah Badu-it actually had me feeling like I was watching her performance of Funky Nassau in Blues Brothers. I was totally ready for KZ to start a scat at some point. Then BAM that rap?! Totally surprised. Then to what sounds like Jazzy salsa? I am loving this. Your tongue comment had me laughing lol
You should react to KZ’s other performance in Singer 2018. She even learned to sing Chinese within 2 weeks without knowing how to speak Chinese. I call her the Filipina Cover Song Destroyer.
You were right the first time you pronounced her name. It had been years since I found her and loved her from then. I was in HK before I was retired. I love all her cover performances in China's "I AM SINGER" contest. It was won by Jessie Jay but look how all the contestants and crowd and all. She is the best of so many in the country. She has her first movie and first International release titled "11:59"
This is my favorite Filipino artist! I appreciate those artist who's very good at extremely high notes and whatsoever, but KZ artistic style is equally or even more impressive to me. She is a real artist who's very artistic and creative.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally! You started off with the right video. You are close with pronunciation. "Tahn-dee-ngan" and yes you did do a 50 min video on Gigi. I'm so here for that and I hope you guys can connect ❤❤❤ Also, she rocked this so hard, her earring fell off at the end. She was holding it in her hand in the end. This is how you cover it. "ROYALS" next please
Peter that was a great reaction yet again. This was my first time listening to KZ and WOW what a stage presence and voice. Like you I also rate Morissette. You don't appear to have analysed one of her best performances yet. “Could You Be Messiah”. It is sung with so much passion, stripped back to piano and voice and done in one take. Get the tissues ready when you watch. She puts everything into this performance and she is crying herself by the end. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/g7fa7yJ4ckM/w-d-xo.html
It goes without saying, that KZ, Gigi, and Mori are phenomenal performers, but can we take a minute to express our appreciation of the musicians that back them. This band along with Gigi Vibes and 3rd Avenue are spectacular in their own right. Take a listen. Just tremendous. I would also recommend taking a voyage back to the OGs upon which this generation is built. I'm talking about Lea Salonga and Regine Velasquez. Still performing, still awe inspiring.
Really appreciate your technical take on KZ's performance, and indeed, our appreciation for her is further elevated. The way she created this energy with the band and her audience tells us something about this artistic power within her. KZ is a skilled vocalist and musician through and through 😊
Very glad to see you did this reaction and analysis to KZ. I always love her creativity and how she completely changed songs that she covered. Just an amazing artist!! Love your reaction as always!!
Katrina Velarde. But thank you for remembering her. I was looking for somebody to mention her. And his list of Filipino reactions is incomplete to me without Katrina Velarde and Sarah Geronimo. Than the Buddha cow. And of course tKatrina Velarde. But thank you for remembering her. I was looking for somebody to mention her. And his list of Filipino reactions is incomplete to me without Katrina Velarde, and Sarah Geronimo. Then the Budakhel. And of course the Filipino trinity [regine, Lani, and Jaya] which can come later.
Excellent reaction, Peter. Thanks for continuing your deep dive into Filipino singers. May I suggest Gary Valenciano covering Chick Corea's Spain (ala Al Jarreau), and Morissette's cover of Fly Like a Bird. Finally, Gig's cover of Angel Baby (studio version) will surely make you love her even more.
After watching your reaction, I think this is the most complete analysis of this performance on the internet, Period! Your experience as an operatic bass including in that Rossini style you mentioned, together with your growing up singing RAP - which enables you to appreciate and actually explain some of what she's doing and how early exposure to percussive vocals can set you up to have an "athletic" tongue - sets this reaction apart! It was a delight to see you shocked by the unexpected rapping as well! You are also able to speak to the continuous changes in color, runs/riffs, chromatic pitches and so much more! Once again, you delivered BIG with this analysis in my opinion! Keep it up bro!
Good evening Peter. America’s Got talent again had a singer from Brazil by the name of Gabriel Enrique and he had every one on their feet and got a golden buzzer. And of course I think made it to the top five but was eliminated. Such a damn shame. Check him out.
I love your inputs! So detailed and informative. It's interesting to see reactors reacting to KZ's performance because she really has so much to offer. Such a skilled but underrated singer. Anyways, keep the reaction videos coming Peter!😁
Thank you for appreciating and giving regards to Pinoy artists!I always watch your reaction videos and I am enjoying and learning at the same time..Your reactions are really legit.More power to you and keep on reacting Pinoy performances cause there's still a lot more you haven't seen..❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, thank you for such a detailed response!. I also think that in this particular case, KZ clearly demonstrated how a COVER (with a capital letter!) should look and sound. Bold, risky, outrageous, professional!
Fantastic reaction that showcases your own flexibility, Peter. KZ’s performance here was suspenseful. We didn’t know what was going to happen next. V cool!
I'm still waiting for your next KZ cover's reaction. Say something, Royals (wish bus version available too) and See You again are really great. Also, her duet with Jaya, heavenly covering 'Feelin Good' would be an exciting piece for you to react ❤
Wow your vocal analysis is very detailed and easy to understand. YOUR voice is very pleasant too like a radio announcer or commentator. With your vocal analysis I can almost imagine it like a painter. When a painter just strikes lines at the very beginning I, don't see any value but when the lines are all put together there is a Form, it's like notes and then the painting becomes more structural until a painter puts color in it the painting has its full value. The Art of Singing and The Art of Painting is somehow has congruency in its artistic interpretation. Wow I' m impressed how you extract each notes and how KZ T. Delivered it perfectly in her own style.
It always makes me happy to watch someone see this for the first time. Also see the short, heartwarming video "KZ Tandingan Meets Jessie J", which was filmed earlier the same day. KZ talks about how a vocal polyp problem limited her range. This is from the year after Dimash became well known through his performances on the same show. A couple of other performers worth checking out on Singer 2018 are Hua Chenyu (try "Nunchucks"), and Tengri, who's song "Heaven" shows a mastery of dynamics. Then there was Dimash's guest performance, covering Lionel Richie's "Hello" in a unique way.
I don't understand why people don't include links. If you want a reactor to do something for you, do something for them. Link to KZ meeting JJ: th-cam.com/video/TNNz47dMwLY/w-d-xo.html

Such a talented artist and performer! AMAZING! What should I check out next by KZ?
See her version of See You Again by Charlie Puth
next her " Say Something " please
Her Say Something is epic. Her Anak version is a must-see and -listen.
Her "say something"
Royals, Real gone, Anak, See you again 😊
She growls, she scats, she raps, she sings artistically. She even arrange her covers and make the song hers. Shes just a very creative unique artist.
eh d wow AHAHAA!
Indeed she did A---MAZING! No one can do what she DID!
V.
She's a very good artist as a singer . She 's amazing and fantastic singer !!! Bravooo !!!❤❤❤❤
You talk so much. Focus on reacting on the singer.
She herself change the style of the song. She is famous in that. Not just a good singer but a extraordinary musician.
It was different genres in one arrangement. Jazz, rock, rap etc...And the dynamics of her voice, the runs perfectly aligned with every instrument that backed her up. Phenomenal.
this is why i like KZ , she got all my favorite Genres in one!💜💯
KZ is a force of nature. She was born for the stage.
That is what I like about her. Her creativity trumps any of the powerful Filipino voices I have heard, imo.
That's obviously not reverb. Ask anyone who's used audio effects before. They'll tell you the same.
That's clearly autotune bro
Yes
reverb and autotune are two vastly different things 😭😭😭

Yes, please ... you will not be disappointed 😊
OK TRY MORRISETTE AMON
This version was "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Pure fire.
YUP. woman scorned - look behind your back hahaha

It was a performance by KZ in a SInging Contest in CHina.
So, phonetically, it’s

I'm learning a lot from ur analysis of KZ TANDINGAN'S rendition of ROLLING IN D DEEP..

I'm still waiting for your next KZ cover's reaction. Say something, Royals (wish bus version available too) and See You again are really great. Also, her duet with Jaya, heavenly covering 'Feelin Good' would be an exciting piece for you to react ❤
❤❤❤ ty peter for choosing kz as one of your choice singer in your vlog
Love it! Such a memorable performance
It's hard for her to belt so high because of a polyp in her throat, but because of that she tried to master every range she has available
She used Tagalog language on the rap part, it is the national language in the Philippines and as a Filipino he stated every word so CRYSTAL CLEAR❤
Nice Breakdown Bro. I learned a lot. Thank you.
Watching your reactions it's like watching reactions from other reactors 3 yrs ago .
Thank you for reacting KZ’s performance. If I’m not mistaken this was way back 2018 during her performance in The Singer Show in China .
Thank you for details of your analysis.. KZ’s a great performer
@@ShanLiB I tried to reply about 5 times, but it didn't stay up - and neither do links many times.
@@-R.Gray- I have heard that happens sometimes. It's never happened to me in all the years I've been commenting on YT but, I know others who have had that experience and I believe you. I see my previous comment, with the link, is still up. YT makes no sense.
@@ShanLiB Google "6 Reasons Why TH-cam Keeps Deleting Your Comments". It's reason #2. Also, in the past, after they mistook me for a spammer, it took days before even regular comments would stay up. So now, if it will do the job, I just give a title that will direct them to the correct video. If I have to narrow it down, I'll give the channel name. I hope this stays up.
@@-R.Gray- I don't see how #2 can apply because you are not redirecting to an external site with your links. I hope you can reclaim your rights. Like I said, I post links all the time and have not had this happen. Of course, the links I post will only take someone who clicks on it to another YT site. Not an external one.
