if you don't have any get a 35XX, like no question about it. I got the 35xx and a 405m and while the 405m is objectively the nicer more capable device, you just can't really beat the experience of the 35XX for that price, like I got mine for 36 euro on a black friday sale and the thing is just perfect. I just threw Garlic on there and the "tiny best set" of roms which comes with some nice artwork and everything and the thing is good to go. you never have to touch anything again really and the garlic experience with no boot times and perfect autosave-load system is just MWAH *chef's kiss*
great as the 405m is I don't really like the whole android side of things (though I did get GammaOS which makes the whole thing a lot more garlic like, at least for all the retroarch systems)
35XX Plus is the best.

@@jamesyu5212 @jamesyu5212 it really depends IMO. like 36 euro with taxes and shipping, hard to beat that. I mean if I were to order the plus from anbernic right now it would cost me 84,56 euro total (shipping+tax) and most resellers come out at around that price as well. (though the RG35XX is around 50 now on alie)
that's like twice as much and for what? to play some N64 without an analog stick or play PSP on a tiny 4:3 screen? like IMO both of them are really good up to PS1 and anything extra is a bonus.
if you buy directly from anbernic though and the difference is only 12 bucks than yeah the plus is the better option.
also I really like the simplicity of the 35XX, no android, no wifi. just plop garlic and all your roms and art onto an SD card and you're done. no faffing about with scraping art on crappy wifi or configuring a dozen android emulators and shit XD..

It'd be cool if they made a more powerful 280m. Its a nice size for both home and travel, won't kill my thumbs like the 280v, and would be great if it could play GameCube!
A horizontal version of the Nano would be cool too, as it could replace my Trimui Model S as the perfect pocket device.

How's the Adam Image OS on it? I kinda want to get one but the Onion OS on the MM+ seems better and more polished
@@lucykaede5863 It works well. Though, I prefer the stock Open Dingux firmware. The stock firmware also has a video media player and easy menu screen to navigate through. Yes, Onion OS is much better than Adam Image.
Am really obsessed to horizontal handhelds by any chance do you have some time to make the best horizontal handhelds.
A little off-topic: I know garlic OS 2.0 is still cooking, but when we have a more feature released version; are you willing to do another step-by-step set up guide with the RG35XX plus. I used your first guide for the original 35XX and would love an updated video when garlic 2.0 gets a more feature rich version.

If theres anyone who really wants the 353M i was able to grab mine on a sale for the same as the RG353P, so little patience can pay off. I LOVE the blue metal color and in my hands it just feels like a solid device.
I really don’t understand why more companies don’t do 4:3 screens that are bigger like Ambernic does. To me 16x9 screens are almost useless except for PSP content. I think my dream handheld would be the specs of the upcoming Retroid pocket 4pro but with a 4inch 720P 4:3 screen. That’s the dream right there. Great video laying all this out for the new comers.
Exactly, the RP4 is enticing but it’s primarily for 4:3 content so why is it widescreen?! 🤔

RG35XX H shouldve been included, right? Was it already out when the video was released? I mean it's the new hotness for horizontal budget options, it's a variant of the RG35XX Plus, and now specifically, both of them got a working Batocera-Koriki custom firmware released.
This was made before that came out.

I have a 351p and out of the 119 PSone games ive tried. only a handful of them won't run like 4 or 5

i reallllly wish they had a 405 as a lite version.
Went with the 505 over the 405 for the analog and button layout alone. I hate offset analog.
RG280v is the answer to all the people arguing about MM+ vs. RG35xx. RG280v is the answer to those that wish the OG Miyoo Mini still existed. RG280m is the answer to those that wish for a horizontal Miyoo Mini.
For those people that claim to “need” a pOcKeTaBLe device it _ackshually is_ a smaller device than the previously mentioned 3.5” devices and all the other same sized 3.5” devices like the RG353v, XU10, R36S, RGB20s, etc.
280v is a tank and in my opinion the best of the mini handhelds.

"best" really depends on whether you want hand cramping or not, what systems you need to play, and the ease of getting in and getting out of the game (the system's OS is key here). If you have to fight the hardware/software interface then it's a bummer of an experience.
I love my rg505 especially with gammaOS. The arc D is ok just not great or perfect yet a V2 of this will be better. GammaOS is ready for the arc d too
Why the arc d isn't perfect though ? It has everything I was looking for tbh, except that it can't run Saturn at all. what are your thoughts ?
I’m also one of the ones who chose the rg505, and I’m surprised to see it since most people gush over the rg405m, and ignore this console completely. It’s not a bad device; far from it! Especially if you’re a fan of PSP, a larger screen is necessary to fully enjoy that content.
@@cyn1streit can’t run all Saturn perfect but a decent amount can so it doesn’t deserve a perfect score
@@khamla616 yeah the only, ONLY device that is actually playing Saturn accurately and with very good performance is the Odin2 with the Beetle Saturn core. Yaba Sanshiro is so inaccurate it hurts, everything seems wrong if you grew up with a Saturn. Visual glitches, sounds playing at randoms and very inaccurately etc using the best settings possible. Only Beetle Saturn on RetroArch is worth using today on Android (no disrespect to Yaba 2, but these aren't the games I've grew up with) and for that you need a very beefy chip like the 8gen2. And I'm talking over 2 and a half years of experience with both Yaba Sanshiro 2 and Beetle Saturn. Don't know about Linux, maybe some black magic is possible, but I really don't like Yaba 2 after spending so much time with it trying my best to make it run ok
@@cyn1stre I agree I prefer playing Saturn in RA with beetle too only because I'm really into RetroAchievements, so it will be a while before we find a cheap enough device for this to happen. So I'm ok with this arc for now using it for the Sega Genesis/CD games. I've been using the Saturn games on my 505, I know it's not perfect but it's "playable" in RA.

It does, but they're not good cards or roms. You'll want to replace both with your own.
So for the 405v do you recommend purchasing from Amazon with the 128gb or on the abernic site directly with the 256gb option?

Always my recommendation is Anbernic directly and the cheapest option since there's no value tied to the larger sd card or games.

None of these will do those, you'd have to jump to a Steam Deck, ROG Ally etc.

They don't upgrade they chips in hold handhelds. They make new handhelds with new chips.

I dislike Horizontal, they don't feel now because they remind me of my Switch both of them and my steamdeck, I prefer the Vertical Units it's like a breath of Fresh Air. Ordered after looking at all the Retro units even the few unit that was a few hundred dollars I choose the RV405v with the 256GB for $165 in the US, should be here in a few days. my runner ups a Retriod 3 Plus and RG405m, I just didnt like the Switch layouts of the Devices, Ambernic make some really nice devices..
I’ll personally wait for a model that runs ps2 and gamecube consistently, if not a potential to run original xbox. I know that’s probably a longshot but I can dream right?

DC is just a bit difficult to run properly. Same as N64.
