I killed a RG35XX and RG35XX+ and both were destroyed. The second time was a mistake, I was in a hurry and wanted to charge it. I took the wrong charger (Samsung Fastcharge) and instantly killed.

@wizzel22 The issue is that one fast charger may work, but not all, and people do not know which are safe to use. As there are alot of people who have used a fast charger and damaged thier devices.
That's sounds like a bad cable or charger, I've used plenty of fast chargers, some work done others won't charge at all..
@@N0FPVthere are multiple types of fast charging. I would assume PD would be safe, but non-PD ones could potentially overload the circuits. I use a PD charger myself, and have never had an issue with my RG35XX or RG35XX plus.

Pokemon is a dream on these, especially with a built-in cheat engine, you can change color palettes, you can move saves across games. You can fast forward. I think you should check out my pokemon video. I think youll enjoy it.

@@JaviPlayRetro with my big hands and not great eyesight I think a horizontal handheld with a bigger screen is in my near future. Do you have recommendations on one that's preloaded like the 35xx + and still has retroarch? I wish I had a way to have one setup for me but unfortunately I don't. Basically I want something already setup and ready to go for pokemon games while still having the built in cheat function
Thank you for your videos on this device. I absolutely love mine and it came dead on arrival, but with your videos I was able to flash a new micro sd card and use dual sd card method.
Watching this while waiting on my device... Really useful, as I probably would have killed the device with a fast charger if I hadn't seen this. Will be sure to flash a new card and look at your other guides!
I really like this handheld and the video of flashing of a new SD card was very helpful, looking forward to Garlic 2.0 being stable before trying it.
A comment on fast charging: I charged my 35XX Plus on arrival with a 5V/3A charger, from 70% to full. Didn't destroy my device, but the charge diagnostics showed my voltage well over 4.1V. Grabbed an old Apple brick I had laying in a drawer at my business, and voltage is now reading a much less pulse-pounding 3.81V.

Got mine just to play Pokémon Ron hacks but then remembered the countless games from my childhood that were literally just preloaded! The TMNY beat ‘em up was such a huge part of my playtime growing up I popped off hard seeing it was already on the console

I used the high-power charger 65w regularly on 35xx and 35xxPlus. My 35xx works fine but the battery dies in sleep mode around 3 hours. On the plus, it keeps rebooting again and again. Bad! Now I only use a normal charger
Exactly, latest firmware breaks a few things. Screen refresh rate, for instance. In retroarch - Settings - Video - Output, retroarch reports a screen refresh rate of 64.926 Hz. It should say 59.941 Hz.
Sorry for blowing up your comments section 😂 last thing I have to add is that the included screen protector is fine. Use wet wipe first to remove oils, dry wipe second to remove dust, then check under intense light for any dust specks remaining and gently catch/sweep them with the dry wipe. Keep the dry wipe! Then peel the backing off the protector and carefully *drop it* smack in the center of your screen. I used the fingers grasping the sides of the screen protector to help align it with the device, and dropped it from less than a centimeter above the screen. It should kinda float, allowing you to nudge it for any fine adjustments. Then, *press the center* and let the film do its thing. Grab a credit card, then *using the dry wipe as a buffer* , carefully but firmly work any bubbles (there should be minimal if done this way) out the sides. My screen protector is completely flush and transparent. Could've just gotten lucky with the cut of it though 🤷
Any specific screen protector brands you can recommend?
I hear others bought new ones online and they still didn't fit and had bubbles around the edges because the screen is a bit curved.
I can't recommend any right now. I would get one that is like a film, not a tempered glass. That way, you can cut it size by hand.
i have been having audio issues 24/7 since getting this device. nonstop humming as well as screetching noise, and can only be drowned out (not fixed) with super high volume. have tried with/without wifi/bluetooth on , restarting , resetting , etc. could i have possibly gotten a bad unit ? literally it does not stop unless device is powered off.

Anbernic says it's support C to C charging, but that doesn't mean everything charger is safe. Please be careful. These are batteries that can explode. It's probably fine. Just dont do it again. For now, just charge from your pc or laptop with the a regular usb a to usb c cable. Or use an old charger thats rated 5V/1A.

Link to wall charger needs to be updated.... the one you linked is no longer available. I do have an old iPhone charger, I guess I will use that one. This is a good one you can check out. There's also the pro 2 that has hand grips if you prefer something a little comfier but its more expensive.

Hi all, I just bought my console and was wondering if it matters how I charge it the first time. Should I fully charge it first before powering up the console or can I play with it a bit 5-10% and then let it charge?

I'm having trouble adding games. The roms I found online don't have the same file extensions as the default roms. I could just change the file extension, but I doubt that will work.

With my new rg35xx+ I went in to menu > controls> within psp game and was mapping DPAD up and down but now the up and down doesn't work at all in any psp game. Cant navigate menu to change it back. Any help?

Regarding the charger, does anyone knows if using an Anker 737 GaNPrime is safe? It's a high quality, high power charger, with safety features, so if the device cannot tell what power to use, the charger should switch to default, low power USB charging, right?
I got a 5V 2.1A charger for this console. From what I understand, the back of the console says to use 5V and greater than 1.5A.
Regarding the fast charging, i guess it depends on the charger itself. The charger should recognise the device is not compatible with fast charging and default to the lowest output. But not all do that.
Hello Javi. I just got mine and it seems the SD card has already failed. Every time I turn it on, it’s stuck on the Anbernic boot logo and not sure what to do. If I just take a copy of all the contents from the defunct card and transfer it to a 128gb card I just have laying around, will it work again? I attempted to put GarlicOS on it but I just could not get it to work.

That will not work youll need to a stock install. Also GarlicOS is not supported on the plus yet.

Hey Javi! My rg35xx plus WiFi won't refresh and I can't add a new one! Any ideas?
Just got my device a few days ago and I was finally able to get my Nintendo pro controller to work with my system but ever since I’ve been able to set that up using retro arc now the a and b button on the anbernic itself doesn’t register in the IO test. When navigating the main menu on the device I have to use the b button to select instead of the a button and the a button does nothing so there’s no way to return to previous menus.
You can try connecting the controller again and reset the defaults of that rg35xx in that controls menu

My advice is to use the original stock firmware dated 20231108. From what I've seen, the newer one 1208 is more problematic even though it adds a couple nice features.
I wish they used USB-c standard - would be nice to be able to plug it to the same brick I use for my phone and switch!
Can you share info on how to use the wifi on adding games on the device.
This is not possible yet. We need to wait for CFW for this feature.
I noticed when adding some PS1 games to my system there are "rom" folders for lots of consoles that don't seem to be in the list in the menu, like Sega CD, Atari Jaguar, Atari 2600 (mine even had a ton of 2600 games already in the folder), and a whole bunch more. Yet there seems to be no way to play them. I tried adding some Sega CD and Jaguar roms to their folders to see if the console would show up in the menu, but it doesn't. Any idea what that's about? Why would it have rom folders and roms for systems it doesn't have?
So u can add emus and cores perhaps?
@@dirty4track I don't know if you can do that without updating the OS itself, not sure. But i discovered on mine it had two operating systems installed. The stock Anbernic one, and Garlic. If i go to settings, there is an option "switch os", which turns the system off when you select it, then when you turn it back on it loads up in Garlic instead, and Garlic had all those other emulators.
Where do you go to too add ROMS , I dropped them in the gba folder for Mario advance 2 but it didn’t show up when I put sd card back into game

Hi just want to tell you that you need a 5v charger and more or equal to 1.5 amps. Using less amps will damage the battery because its Lipo

You can actually just map this in the settings. Make you use psp in the games room you can map R2+dpad as a combo and it will work the same

Mate, can you add consoles to the device ? I've got a few roms that I can't add because there's no dedicated folder (I want to add 4: Atari Lynx, Jaguar, Colecovision, 3DO)
I dont think this is possible unless you have access to a linux computer. Because the partition that contains the emulators is in a linux format. However, Anbernic lastest update did add a couple of systems but not the ones you mentioned.
I would wait for some custom firmware. Or for a better update.

Yes, RA just means it's running with retroarch aka RA Game. So you'll have basically 2 versions. One for the standalone emulators in Gamesroom and another for RA Game. These will have their own saves.

I download the, add them, and they don't show up. they are either .bin or .7z files. can ANYONE send me a message on what I am doing wrong?? please? I have looked all over and I think I just don't understand. Something just isn't clicking for me the grasp how to do it properly.
I bought my brother a rg35xx with garlic os with a 64 gig card. Bought a 64 gig sandisc ultra to back it up. I copied the original card. When i tried to write it to the brand new sandisc, it said not enough space. There's more on the original card for some reason.
So not every 64Gb is exactly 64Gb it's usually a little less. Maybe like 59.4 or 60.2 depends on the sd card. There's a chance that the sd card you got was slightly too small, and you ran into an issue
You can check this easily by putting the sd card on the pc and right-clicking it and checking the available space in properties.
Thanks for the content! It helps a lot for new users like me who are starting with the RG35XX+. For now I have installed the factory OS with your tutorial and added a rom pack. Likewise, the Stock OS is somewhat 'ugly' and I understand that it is little used. Are we all waiting for a more stable version of Garlic OS or is there any other alternative? Thanks in advance!

Hi, just bought one and when I try save inside a Pokemon game it says failed to save and freezes. If I get a new sd card will this fix? Or do I need to redownload the roms?

Actually, the very 1st thing you should do. Is get a 64gb or higher sd card and copy everything over from the jank 64gb sd card that comes with the handheld. While looking through reviews before I bought mine. I noticed people talking about everything working great until their SD card failed a day or 2 later. And yeah the card that comes with it, looks like the very bottom of the barrel of cheap SD cards. Which is understandable. Considering the price of the entire unit. Just treat the stock SD card as a 1 time use type thing and just backup the info that's on it.
I just bought the plus version and really like it. How do I change to the correct aspect ratio in mame and the Genesis, etc? It's stretched to my 42" LG OLED G2. I am using the HDMI out and I get my NeoGeo controller in a few days. Awesome video! Thank you.
How you made the pretended GB cartridge at the back?
I had it printed at my job
They really need to work on Bluetooth audio, my headphones jack has a short and their solution is for me to ship back my device(which could be 8 days or more), they receive the device, exchange for another one(which could be 8 days or more).
All of this during the holiday times, it could be a month before I get the replacement while being empty handed.
I'm trying to see if I can fix Bluetooth audio myself, maybe script it
Im sorry to hear that. My device isn't perfect either. Mine has some light bleed along the screen edges where the screen is not glued all the way. It's not noticeable in the day, but it's annoying at night. I could return it as I bought it from Amazon, but it's not really that serious to me.
I plan to fix it, myself too. Good luck with yours, though. I hope you find an easy fix! Ill let you know if Anbernic fixes bluetooth audio in the next update.

Yeah, you can. Just download games from any game archive online. Example search dreamcast archive etc

It's pretty reasonably. No issues with quarter circles or anything.
Dpad is excellent. Much improved over the regular RG35XX
It is strange because their website says it works with C2C (usb C to usb C) charger but I don´t think it exists a 5v 1.5a usb c charger...

I am waiting on this handheld being delivered to my house, I am confused though as people online are talking about charging issues, specifically with adapters and cables. The website states a USB C-C cable but some are reporting the ned for a USB A-C cable which means I am unsure what cable and adapter to purchase. Someone please reply and help me lol
Okay use a usb C to usb A cable and use a charging brick that is 5V that is 1.5A or higher and you will be fine. Don't use c to c. Don't use fast chargers.
Thanks bro, purchased a Sony Adapter Plug today with these specifications. My follow up question is about USB Cables. You recommend A-C but I am seeing cables on amazon stating "fast charging cables" compatible with USB 3.1 for faster charging speeds etc....
So my follow up question is what wire to purchase, does it make a difference and is getting a fast charging cable or 3.1 compatible cable going to enhance charging speed? Also how do I know whether my adapter plug will even accept USB 3.0 or 3.1 or whether these types of cables are compatible or can cause issues with the device itself?
@@thebiglad25 Fast charging cables are fine. Fast chargers are not. Dont use c to c as well. Just use usb a to c on a slow charger
