@@user-yk1cw8im4h Everybody makes mistakes, I owned up to it. I don't understand people like you that just have to say something mean for the sake of it.
Been playing mostly gba on mine but man you're really pushing this thing to it's limits here. Amazed how well it can perform with those other consoles.
Just ordered mine :)) Seen plenty of vids and yet I still love watching these reviews, can't wait. I swear to God if Miyoo releases the Flip in the next couple of days... 😑Thanks for the vid :) !
Just wanted to say thanks for video. I just ordered the transparent black and wanted to see a video of it. I've never owned a clamshell device but I like the idea of having a nice size screen on a device that I can fold and carry around with me. I have the RG28XX and as much as I like the pocketability of the device, the screen is just too damn small. Appreciate your review!
The original SP only has one locking position like the Anbernic SP. Also the og sp has a soft click to the dpad and buttons. Most videos I have watched tend to highlight the clicky sounds depending on the mic sensitivity. My Anbernic SP"s are shipped and should be here in the next few days I'm really looking forward to this device.
@HappyBirthdayPaulie I like it a lot I have mine running on muOS. The dpad and buttons have a nice feel the display looks nice as well. I have haven't had any issues build quality seems great but I'm also not rough on my devices. I have several emulation devices and mainly play GB thru SNES the only system I use more right now would be my RGB30 which is much nicer after doing the dpad fix on it.
@@PongbyAtari Hell yeah!, awesome to hear man. i currently have a 351v and a 35xx non plus which i love, but the ease of mind of not scratching the screen and taking it more with me really appealed to me (and the size factor as i have yeti hands and fingers lol) that dpad really sold me as well.
The hinge on the original SP functioned the same, and the buttons were clicky (although a little softer to press than the RGSP). So I'd say that both were intentional so as to be as accurate to the original as they could.
Can't log on to Retroachievements on the included stock OS PPSSPP emulator (keep getting error messages) on my 35XXSP but could when using the version included on the recent MuOS cfw. Did you have any luck?
The GBA SP's hinge does in fact let you position the screen at a 180 degree angle, but it's not under as much tension as the screen on the RG35XXSP appears to be, which means it doesn't have the tendency to snap back in to position when nudged. That was definitely one small oversight that Anbernic made when designing the hinge mechanism for the RG35XXSP. Regarding the software side of things, I have heard good things about running muOS on the RG35XX line. I believe it got a major update not that long ago and it shouldn't have any problems running on the SP version. I would definitely say that one of Anbernic's real weak points tends to be the operating systems that come with their devices. The first thing I did with my RG405V was wipe it and put Gamma OS on it. Massive improvement all around. Anyway. I definitely don't need this thing at all, but it's such a cool little device that I still might just pick one up at some point anyway.
Interesting, I looked at so many videos on the SP whether it was reviews or shell swaps or hinge tests etc and I couldn't find one person that would put the screen at 180 degrees so I assumed maybe it just didn't. I had a brief look at OS options currently available, I'll check out muOS again and see if I like it!
I've had mine for two days so far, love it. I haven't found any flaws yet. Why would you want it to open to 180°? I hear that a lot but laying down the angle it is is fine. I've installed Stardew Valley on muOS but until a OS is made to work with the hinge I'll use the stock for everything but Stardew.
If I play my Nintendo DSi for example it has two places the hinge will snap to, one like this and a 180° angle. In bed if I'm laying back and hold it infront of me I'll always do 180° as it's the most comfortable for me to play and see the screen.
@@-roetaka YT won't let me post the link but if you google "anbernic Short lived. Rest in peace reddit" like that it should be the first link that shows up. And for some reason the OP deleted that post but you can still see all the comments and pictures of it burned.
If you want to improve the buttons add some tape on yhe dome switches, 2 layers on the dpad and 3 on tte buttons, I used paiters tape so it might vary depending on what you use but it makes a huge difference. Also I think you said its android but its running linux.
I tried some of that tape today and it's not bad. I went for 2 layers on the buttons as I found it too cushioned. It's like a little more muted but still clicky, I kinda like it but idk if it's something I'd tell people to do. Wish I could've muted the Start/Select and Menu buttons a little but they're too small to be effective 😓
After following Joey's guide with the shaders, I tried to put the the gba overlay back on, and found that it cut off a decent portion of the bottom of my screen. For example 007 has the entire 3rd line of text dialog cut off by the overlay. Did you notice this, or did I mess something up? If you did, did you find an easy way to readjust and fix it? For now I'm opting to go without overlay
Hmm yeah that seems to have happened to myself as well, I wondered why that happened. If you go to 6:02 you'll see I'm in the On-Screen Overlay menu (in a game just press menu and scroll down to that option) and copy what I have there as I found I wanted to move the bezel a little and there are these vignette lines I wanted gone (I could've just edited the bezel itself but eh I didn't lol). Then the next you thing you need to do is back out of this menu and again to the Main Menu, choose Settings and go to Video and Scaling in there. I thought I put this part in my video but I guess not, set the Aspect Ratio to Custom, Custom Aspect Ratio X and Y Position should both be zero, Width 640 and Height 424. Once you've done this go back to the Quick Menu (can just go back into game and press menu again) and go down to Overrides, then choose Save Core Overrides and this will save what you've done to the Video Scaling to this core only so it will only affect the GBA. And that should be how you get it to look like how it's in my video, had I known it was because of the shader I would've made that correction in my video.
Fingers crossed this device gets the hardware attention the 35xx and miyoo mini did. I'd buy custom shells and buttons. This is the handheld I've been waiting for. Almost wish it was a rk3566 for arkOS.
I've been in the same boat. I bought a RP4 Pro at the start of 2024 and it can do everything this does and more...I REALLY love this GBA SP form factor though...
It looks a little bulky to my taste. How comfortable it is compared to the Miyoo Mini? Also it not look very pocketable compared to the original SP or the Miyoo Mini.
When it's close I'd say it's a bit smaller than the Miyoo Mini Plus but a touch thicker. I wasn't sure about holding it at first but after a while I personally found it more comfortable especially in regards to the shoulder buttons.
man, I really wished they added at least one joystick or something like the psp analog thumbstick or the 3DS circle pad to keep it low profile. Would've been perfect for N64, PSP, Dreamcast and some PS1 emulation

If you use the RA Games section rather than Games Room the bezels should just work, it's pre setup on the stock OS
