Just one thing I can't seem to make work: the switching power modes. When I keep the 3 buttons pressed nothing is happening. Do I need to do it from a certain screen?
Yeah so after the update to Gamma 1.5 they removed the button combos to switch modes. The way to do it now is the Android quick menu. You can open it by swiping down from the top of the screen. One of the options there should allow you to cycle through the modes.
@@PhyrexTechs Oh, actually I prefer that over the button combo. Had that option existed before 1.5 in parallel to the button or is it a fully new substitute?
the video is awesome. I just got my rg405m and installed Gamma OS. Everything is fine but I can't run PSP and PS2 games. 1. With PSP I click the game and the screen blinks and I see the games list again 2. With PS2 I click and the screen is black. Nothing happens. Also tried another player from the list (not Retroarch) downloaded it and the game ran, but the buttons don't work and there are controller elements on the screens for touchscreen play. So Gamma OS uses RetroArch for all systems by default. However for PSP and PS2 Retroarch is not great and I always have issues. I would recommend downloading standalone apps for those. If you use the Google Play Store I would recommend PPSSPP and AetherSX2 for those systems. You can then set them as the default App in Daijisho doing what I show at 3:18.

Great video! I have my RG505 perfectly set up with GammaOS thanks to you! Some emulators need Bios files - (I think) I found where to put them, but read somewhere that they need to be named in a certain way. Do you have a list of what I need to name the Bios files for Retroarch on GammaOS?
Just downloaded. But I need to re install the other emulators for ps2, will, n64, gamecube, and 3ds. And having a problem trying to put my SD card file in the emulators won’t show up
Normally when I try to add games to stand along emulators, after selecting "add games/add folder" You are able to tap on the 3 line menu in the top left then select your SD card from the Open from menu. Then just navigate to where the roms are located and select "Use this folder". Where are you running into the issue? Does your device detect your SD card at all? Can you check the Files app to see if you are able to see your SD card?
How to determine weither the OS is Gamma OS or default OS? I just bought my 405m from someone and the guy told me its already using gamma OS. im newbie

If I use L3 and R3 it brings up the retroarch menu, but R1, L1 and R3 don’t bring up performance mode options, and the Xbox controller scheme doesn’t work either :(
Do you have the latest version installed? This may have been one of the changes made in 1.5.1. Patch notes say everything is now changeable from the android quick menu when you swipe down from the top of the screen. I'll have to check later if I can still do it.
To turn off the Android screen lock you will need to go into the Android settings then Display then in Lock screen you can disable the lock screen completely. Also in Display you can set the time idle before the screen timeout.

Most of the default retroarch emulators should be good. The ones you are going to want to download manually from the playstore/sideload are PPSSPP, Dolphin, NetherSX2, and maybe M64Plus FZ
I just used a stopwatch to get the exact times. Starting when I hold the power button down to power on it takes about 27 seconds for me to get to the G boot logo and a total of 50 seconds to get fully loaded including Daijisho. It's gonna be a little different with the rg405m. Not sure if it comes with any stock overlays. However, the drkhrse pack from my overlay video does work with it. What you will need to do is: Put the unzipped drkhrse pack folder into the Retroarch folder on the internal memory or on your SD card. Then go into the Retroarch quick menu and select On-screen overlay and you may have to enable display overlay. Then go to overlay preset and keep hitting "parent directory" until you see an option that says /storage/emulated/0/Retroarch Or if on a SD card /storage/(random letters and number) Select that and you should see the drkhrse folder.
If they are for retroarch you will want them in the systems folder in retroarch. If you are using a SD card you may need to go into the retroarch directory settings and change the bios location to point to your bios folder on your SD card.
