Homesick is one of the greatest albums of the 2000s. I remember when it came out it had the metalcore nerds and the pop punk kids in harmony lol

100% a 10/10 album. I was finishing my junior year when it came out. I've been a huge fan since 2007, being from the Florida panhandle my friends and I used to blast Plot To Bomb The Panhandle on long drives. I hate that I've never gotten to see them live, they were in all of our top 5 favorite bands, even if the other 4 varied a bit.

Got to see their homecoming show in 2009 after this release. 10/10. Convenient timing since I only lived in Florida for 3 years.

Common Courtesy will always be my #1. Not only is it a no-skip record but the history surrounding the release not only Saved ADTR from disbanding, but set a case precedent for how artists are compensated, saving probably thousands of artists from unpaid royalties.
Such an important record not only for the Scene, but the music industry as a whole.

The trilogy run of Homesick, What Separates and Common Courtesy is basically untouchable. They’re all 11/10, no skip albums in my opinion. And to me CC is not only their best album but my #1 album of all time.

    • @RiggedandReady
      @RiggedandReady 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I guess I have to go back and really check out CC. I loved Homesick and their prior efforts. I fell off around what seperates me from you through no fault of the music. Ive revisited it recently and I like it a lot.
I'll have to do the same for courtesy.

Common courtesy has some of ADTRs best work, but homesick is iconic. The artwork, the intro, the feels. RIP 2000s metalcore

Homesick and What Separates Me from You were the literal soundtrack to high school for me. Common Courtesy dropped the year after I graduated and sound tracked my first year of college. So much lovely nostalgia for these lads. Got to see them twice too and they've got a killer live show. Absolutely love them.

This band has so much sentimental value for me. Cried hearing CC for the first time after how excited I was for it. Tattoos of the band, shirts, seeing them 14 times. They’re my GOAT. Having moved away from home for the military and hearing City of Ocala and then traveling home to see ADTR and having them play COO as I looked at the Pittsburgh skyline… all time memory for me.
    1. CC
    2. Homesick

Common courtesy came out right after my divorce. I remember just playing it non stop and going to see them twice in the same year in Nashvillle that year. Seeing them at a small venue and then at the amphitheater opening for Blink was just such a great year. They literally helped me get through the darkest time in my life and now at 30 with a new life I can still jam out to them with the same friends I met in college when this was out. Such nostalgia! Common courtesy is my #1 for that reason. But It Means A Lot To You is the #1 song because every party I went to for years straight that would play once a night and the entire house full of people would stop what they were doing and sing the whole thing together. Good times!

I found them from my cable provider. They had that on demand channel for music videos. Saw the cover of kelly clarkson and got sucked in until bad vibrations. It also got me into a static lullaby, silverstein, and bullet for my valentine. I was into blink and simple plan, so it felt cool to find that progression. Then youtube. Oh god

Homesick came out when I was a freshman in high school. I remember seeing commercials on Fuse TV for Homesick and hearing that intro to Downfall of Us All and was instantly hooked. • @zachbeckwith459

Common Courtesy is #1 for me. I know Homesick is legendary and has the anthems and amazing songs in general (for me its #2). But I think CC is their most well-rounded, complete album. It has everything someone could want from an album of theirs. Not to mention its a 16 song album and doesn't have a single "skip".

I want to see am Adam D from Killswitch Engage Deep Dive/Tier list.
The dude is a legend and is largely responsible for the sounds that Metalcore ended up being known for.
    And he’s batshit crazy.

    • @TheDude044
      @TheDude044 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Absolutely. Killswitch is great but I really think people truly do NOT realize how much of a legend Adam is as a producer in the early 2000’s scene. He produced some of the most iconic 2000’s albums, all while producing every Killswitch album as well. Can’t speak highly enough about him. He’s a genius.

I'm about the same age as Fin and grew up listening to a lot of the same music. At some point I stopped listening to much new music at all. I discovered Fin on YT a couple years ago and have since listened to a lot of the bands he's talked about on his channels. I would have probably never listened to A Day to Remember otherwise. They're probably my 8 year old's favorite band. Every time I put on Downfall of us All I look in the back seat and he has a big smile on his face.

My emotional attachment to Ocala is my brother lived there for years and he met a couple members in passing in 2005 through 2007 and he had no idea who he met because we have a 14 year age gap and he's in 40s now and I'm in early 30s. Homesick is the album that got me into heavier music. I was a real light pop punk fan, I didn't like growling vocals and I remember my friend showed me the video for downfall of us all on his iPod and my mind was blown. Like they had the clean vocals with the growls and that chugging intro with the double bass drums. I didn't like what separates us at first but I really came around on it. I'm glad you give common courtesy the praise it deserves, it is honestly a super underrated album, and the true refinement of their sound without losing what made them special like they have recently....

This was great Finn, probably the same order I'd put them in. I know you're into Emmure, they were another "what am I hearing right now?!" bands to me, like ADTR, when I first heard how heavy GTTG was. Still love Emmure and they've had a lot of interesting history, lineup changes, charismatic front man like you talk about. I'd be very interested in a video about them and an album ranking like this. Like with common courtesy coming out later but being one of the best, I feel that way about Speaker of the Dead. Anyway, great video thanks for all the consistently enjoyable content.

ADTR and WCAR are about the only bands from that time in my life that I haven't found myself "growing out of".
I'm a dad working a 9-5 in corporate America, living a pretty average life. As my life has taken a more traditional form, I'm less inclined to listen to Attila and Slipknot, but ADTR is still relatable and fun. I feel like this is the case for many people that might not necessarily go to a bunch of shows anymore but still listen to the music regularly.

For Those Who Have Heart for me is absolutely my favorite albums from them. I remember hearing "The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle" one night after school in high-school and I was hooked...I literally couldn't stop listening to the album that night and was up until 1 or 2 am with it in report. I agree with you though, none of the albums are bad. I can listen to them all and enjoy them.

Homesick and common courtesy. Very refined sound of what they do best. CC felt like an actual sequel to homesick. Miss those eras

I remember some friends and I got tickets to see them at the Masquerade in Atlanta in high school. We mainly got the tickets to see Protest The Hero who was opening for them and someone else. The show hadn’t started yet so we decided to walk down the road to get some pizza. We ate it while walking back because we knew we had to hurry but by the time we got back it was already halfway through PTH’s set. The rest of the night wasn’t bad, including when PTH’s bassist, Arif, asked if I wanted to smoke weed with them, probably because I told them their previous album was better. Didn’t have any, though, unfortunately. Anyway, not a huge fan of ADTR, but I respect the success

I stand by What Separates Me From You being their #1 album ever. No misses all hits and best of all no skips either, just straight up back to back bangers like it's no wonder why it went gold too. Maybe the fact that Chad Gilbert, Jeremy McKinnon and Andrew Wade produced the album or that this was the last album before that whole Victory mess started coming up and the last album on Victory's label but idk man I just fucking love replaying the shit out of that album

I think Bad Vibrations was a bit low, but it all depends what you are looking for in their sound, since it has a pretty good range. CC being a rock, emotionally more driven album, or their earlier stuff being more angsty and unrefined.

This pretty much aligns with my own ranking, I think. I could potentially bump FTWHH up to #1, but that's partially because that's the album that got me into them, so I'm kinda biased towards it. But that, Homesick, and Common Courtesy might as well be in some order of 1A, 1B, and 1C for me.

Smart choice for #1 👍👍 i remember being a highschooler in Orlando when Homesick came out and being completely blown away. Imo it was the epitome of Alt Culture at the time

I think what really sours their newest heavy songs (starting in Bad Vibrations iirc) is they're all co-written by Cody Quistad by Wage War, and it shows. Show me a heavy Wage War song, ADTR song, and Falling In Reverse song from post-2019 and you'll hear the same breakdowns in the same placement with a bunch of the same riffs in the same key with the same style of callouts.

I got to see them on the Gamechangers Tour back in 2011 with Pierce The Veil, We Came As Romans(RIP Kyle), and Bring Me The Horizon. To this day, that is still one of my favorite nights I've ever had.

ADTR is my favorite band and ive been listening to it since 2010 every day... For me, Homesick its a different kind of stuff, a piece that you gonna find once in 20, 25 years. Had to put the cover on my arm

Homesick is their best album in my opinion. My cousin and I were both learning to play guitar and he showed me Downfall Of Us All. He described it to me as “Blink meets Killswitch” blew my fucking mind and A Day To Remember has been one of my favorite bands ever since.

I first heard them in like 7th, 8th grade when, so like 2004-2006. I think for those who have heart was fairly new, but i loved "and their name was treason". Obviously rough but alot of stuff was rough back then like "count your blessings"

25:39 I can't tell you you're wrong because I had only ever heard of this band once before. Now, I would like to request a Deep Dive on TOOL if you haven't already because I want to see how your punk sensibilities would rank the albums.

Amazing band. One of my top 5 ever. A shame what they did with their last album but there's a couple good songs there so I know they're still good.
