    One thing on maintenance, the aux belt is due every 3 years or 36k. It's the number 1 killer of these engines, because it's an interference engine, if the aux belt snaps, more than likely it will wrap around the timing belt, timing will jump and valves kiss pistons. This was a major issue when the cars were a few years old with many having engines changed under warranty, Renault therefore changed the service interval on the aux belt from every 5 years to the proper 3 year interval.

    Thank you very much for this video. I am about to buy my first car in Australia and it will be a Renault Clio RS 182. This video helps a lot. Cheers!

    I’ve got a French racing blue 182 cup. Owned it for 12 years and I’ve only just discovered it’s a “cup” now. Another difference was that the car comes with material seats instead of leather/alcantara.
    I had the rear arches fixed on mine as they both rusted. Bonnet front corners are a bugger too and they still need doing.
    Love the car, nice video!

      How extensive was the rust and how much did it cost to sort if you don't mind me asking?
      I have a tiny bubble on one of my arches 😢

      @@tomm9716luckily it was just surface, I paid £200 to get both arches repaired and repainted. Sold the car 2 months ago and it looked good still. Make sure whoever does it does it properly. If any is missed it’ll come back

    The early 2000s area were the peak of cars. Way more less electronics but still save to drive, furthermore the functions were more simple to handle and the prices were affordable.
    Cars these days suck because they are full packed with technology and you control almost everything via touch wich is laborious, additional you've so many shenanigans of what you don't use in 99% of cases. I would take that Clio over any modern car.

    Renault also offered Recaro front seats as a factory option on later 182s. The same seats are fitted as a standard option on the trophy model.

    Nice vid, top work! I'm in the middle of restoring mine I've owned for over a decade and one thing that has only very recently become tricky is some of the parts, you can't get them from Renault anymore so front control arms and brake lines I've got aftermarket bits from KTEC. Also the 182 Cup pack has bespoke ABS rings just to add to the fun! Sadly I think a lot of this faff means a lot will disappear very soon...

    • @markerboy2002
      @markerboy2002 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can find any rear ABS sensors on eBay, buy them. Had to replace one of mine and no one could find one. Even Renault. Ended up buying a used one

      @@markerboy2002 Think a certain vote in 2016 may have something to do with us struggling to get bits. Well, I don't think... I know!

    I nearly bought one of these last year, but was persuaded against it due to poor build quality. I had to find out myself and have to say It was the best decision I made. I opted for an R56 JCW, which is leagues ahead in terms of build, performance and looks.

    • @thefinalseries
      @thefinalseries 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As an R56 owner myself the build quality of the mini isn’t anything to write home about, neither is the performance or handling. The Clio is just as nippy and handles much better. And let’s not forget how hideously unreliable the R56s are, renowned for being unreliable. Owned a 182 a few years ago and it was a much better car than my mini, maybe not as comfy but that’s the only negative.

    Also missing some options, Recaro Trendline seats were a rare and expensive option on later 182s, so was a CD changer. Also surprised you didn't mention the plethora of colours.

    Gearboxes on these aren't the strongest. The synchros wear, normally 3rd is first to go so check for crunches. Also the selector shaft tends to leak a bit of transmission fluid. Great little cars though, love mine!

    Hi guys, i really like clio rs 172, i found that 172 is cheaper then 182, is there any 172 with that super dope dual exhaust? Or is that just 182 thing?

    • @35dd
      @35dd ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only the 182 has the dual exhaust, the 172 had no tips at all.
      Correct me if I’m wrong, the 172 had a spare tire, and the 182 doesn’t because the exhaust system takes up the space.
