We did everything you suggested, result opened the door but still not working. Unclipped the lead to the computer board then clipped it back in. It reset itself now everything working perfectly. Thanks so much. I believe its the red wires leading into a white connecter top back right and we did that while the power was ON.

Thank you! The power went out last night with 4 minutes left on the cycle, and it did not like that at all. It locked my clothes in, the lock light wouldn't come on, and I couldn't drain and spin. This was an easy fix.
Thanks for the help. I took the drain line off, no clog plugged it back in still had a locked door and the drain was running. So I took off the back panel and there is a drain/trap underneath there that you unscrew the cap and out comes the trap. It didn't have much build up on it. After that I plugged it back in and still drain running and locked door. Then I tried what you had just showed taking off the top and manually releasing the door and finally that reset it. So we will see after running some loads through it if that did it. Thank you for the video's I watched a previous one as well that helped out!

Thanks, that got me to unlock the door, but the problem re-occurred. Occasionally the door stays locked at the end of the cycle, but if I disconnect the power, and wait a few minutes, when I reapply power the machine makes some noise (sounds like the drain pump) the the door lock clicks open. Very intermittent problem. Oh, I did subscribe, thanks.

At some point Whirlpool moved the release latch from the top of the door mechanism to the bottom of the lock mechanism. After I googled the lock mechanism and removed the bottom front of the machine, I reached up and found the release latch.
I could use some help on another whirlpool machine. It’s a whirlpool 6th sense top loading washer only. I’ve managed to cancel a never ending cycle, the problem is I can’t open the inside metal drum holding the clothes? Please help!?
I finally got mine fixed for good and threw the POS out. It kept doing it over and over. What garbage. I worked for Whirlpool service. I am guessing all these brands use the same crappy pumps that don't work right half the time. Maytag does this constantly too. You can fix and keep resetting it but several washes later it starts all over again. Mine was only two years old, but I had finally had enough
All you need is all you need to do is press the first three buttons at the bottom 1 being wash temp 2 being shi 3 being soil three consecutive times 123 1 2 3 1 23 and it will factory reset it's that easy there is no need to take apart the washer. I hope this helps somebody who doesn't have the tools or time to deal with his ridiculously unnecessary method. Pressing those buttons and those fashions is just like a factory reset on your phone
Why does this happen though? Is it just to be expected? Because mine keeps doing it, I had a repair guy come and he told me there is nothing wrong with the machine.
I was able to get our door unlocked, & remove the smelly sloppy clothes, after 3 days but the washer wouldn't reset. It still "runs" when you plug it back in, like it does when it's supposed to be draining & start spinning. I tried plugging to reset with the door open, as suggested in the commnets but, that didn't work either. The washer still "ran" even with the door open, & the panel won't work. I'm guessing the computer panel is shot & not functioning properly, which costs just as much as a new washer. I can't afford either but, at the very least, I got the door open. Thanks!
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Yes, that's how I got the door to finally open. Did everything exactly as you did, & then did everything as listed in my comment above but it woudn't reset. The panel wouldn't light up or work at all. We bought this washer dryer set 9 years ago brand new & have had the computer panel replaced twice on the washer. They just don't make appliances like they used to. We junked the washer the other day & hopefully we can find a used one down the line when we've got a few extra dollars. Thanks again for the help getting the door unlocked :)

This happened to me because I forgot to turn on the water! Door locked button will flash red. Turn off the water then just wait about 5 mins or so then hold down the power button and see if that unlocks the door
For the no water issue, just let it run with door locked red light flashing and pump going for exactly 8 minutes without interfering and it will shut off and be ready to go. Has happened several times in our shop with secondary hose and forgetting to turn on water supply. Who would ever guess 8 minutes. 😂
Hey Peter, You can remove the drain hose from the tube in the wall behind the washer and put it into a bucket to let gravity empty the water from the washer. Once the water has all drained out the door should open👍

Gotcha, the child lock got activated.
Try holding down the child lock button for 4 seconds.

Can you remove the top panel and reach in from the top and pull up on the plastic door release behind the lock.
Make sure to unplug first .

I let mine sir and make its noise for 10 minutes and it stopped, cleared code and reset itself which included unlocking the door. 🤷♀️

Mine lock is open it says clean me I did that it won't let me start it to wash.
This does not work on all machines. Some have have to be accessed from bottom.
This does not work on older ones because you have to access and press from the bottom.
