Yes, this works. I turned off the breaker, waited about 45 seconds, the blinking *door locked* light went out. Waited a few minutes before turning the breaker back on. The light began to blink again but stopped after a few seconds and the door latch unlocked at the same time. Thank you, Mike Cooper :-)
Mike! thank you...I've been frantic because my husband is sick, possibly with Covid...we're waiting for the test results now. Your advice saved me. I can't thank you enough. I tried turning the power off, but like you said...you have to wait a bit, not knowing that I didn't wait and it didn't work...I didn't know what I was going to do. I read the manual, no help there. I searched on TH-cam, of course, someone had the answer...YOU. I had to pull my dryer out to get to the outlet, but I was able to unplug the washer and I waited and the door unlocked! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I desperately needed to wash bedding, everything, to disinfect... I am so grateful for this post. You are an angel!
Thank you for sharing! I’m glad I ran into your quick/easy fix video here. I unplugged it for a longer period of time as you suggested and it worked the second time around. 👍🏻 now I know what to do if it happens again. Some of these digital washers are so sensitive 🤦🏻♀️. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. I had envisioned a few days lost and all sorts of difficulties. We tripped the breaker as suggested by a reader since we can't move the stacked washer and dryer ourselves. Did exactly what you said, and it worked like a charm. The waiting for 40 seconds is very important. Thank you sooooo much!
I had a similar situation to Gary Pineda's response. Other things to try Blinking 'door locked' issue: 1. I turned power off for several minutes, but no help. 2. We took the top panel off and opened the door with the pull switch, and the light went out but the draining noise continued and no response to power or other buttons. 3. Took off back panel and cleaned out the pump filter, but no change. 4. Blew out the drain pipe thinking it was a sensor, but no help. 5. Dumped water in the washer and closed the door and after a few minutes, the noise stopped and all back to normal! Not sure if any "one" of these fixed it, but that was what we did. FYI, I think the problem started with us because our hot-water-heater water supply was turned off and I think it caused a sensor issue. We did get some code, but someone powered it off before I could get the code.
Pro tip for next time, you might be able to flip the circuit breaker in your breaker panel for a couple minutes instead of unplugging the whole machine!
Yes!!! All I did was hit the power button to turn off the washer and it went into drain and door locked mode. I tried buttons on the front. I tried unplugging it. Nothing worked until I came across your clip. You are awesome!!!
Have the same washing Machine and I stop it all the time to throw clothes in. This is the first time this happened and I panicked!! It’s worked perfectly thanks so much🙏
You are a lifesaver! I did exactly what you did (tried to add a garment once the door was locked) and unplugging the washer worked like a charm. As some others had noted, pulling the machine out from the wall and getting to the plug was the hardest part. Thanks very much for posting this video!
It worked for me. I suppose that rebooting is always worth trying when faced with any problem! Computers, washing machines, relationships, nuclear reactors.
Had similar problem but unplugging it did not clear problem. Ended up unscrewing bottom of front panel and reaching through side and bottom up to latch and releasing manually. Working now.
Stella Wynia sorry it was a friends machine and it has not locked up since. It was not all that hard but I propped the front up on a sideways 2x4 to be able to see the screws. Once I remove the screws at the bottom I eased the panel open along the side with the lock. Reaching in I found the latch and released it. It is tight and I was probably reaching up from about half way between the bottom and the door. Even with a video it was mostly feeling around in there, nothing to see. If you find a parts breakdown it might help you understand what you are feeling and what the latch is shaped like. Hope that helps.
Mine would unlock on its own about 15 mins ended up the drain was half clogged up and washer had trouble pumping water out, after i cleaned drain out never had any more issues
Yep, turned the breaker off for at least a minute until the light stopped blinking and turned it back on. Thanks. This is the second time this has happened to us after a load has finished the door stayed locked. The fact that whirlpool doesn't have a manual override for this or a button press that could at least fire the solenoid latch again it's asinine.
Mine was doing the same thing and I tried your solution. Didn't work. It was making a sound like it was trying to pump something. Don't know why but I looked in the detergent reservoir and it was dry. My wife had forgotten to put detergent in it. After putting detergent in the reservoir it started back up and is working like normal.

Had same issues!! Was worried and this fixed it!! 🙌🏽👍🏼😃

I know I’m two years late, but I hope you and your husband are healthy and feeling good :)
@@neonlights3739 Ha! Hard to believe that was 2 years ago....still very grateful for the tip. We are doing well, hope you're doing well also. =)
THANK YOU! Didn’t think to leave it unplugged longer, you are a lifesaver!

Thank you for this comment! I was panicked because I can’t moved the stacked machines on my own, but going right to the braker solved the problem.
Thank you! I unplugged but did not leave it long enough, very helpful, an easy fix that I could not have accomplished with your video.

I have the same problem! What is the next step, what could be the problem!
Been without a washer for about two weeks - freaked out - IT WORKED! Thank you SO much!
Thank you so much!!! my underwear was held captive for a few minutes there
Oh man, mine was just flashing red, but completely unresponsive otherwise. You just saved my butt. God bless you, sir.
How many time do you unplugged?
Worked perfectly! Hardest part was moving the washer to reach the plug but this video saved the day! Thanks!

God's plan I thought I was gonna get grounded or something
Hahahahaha, I think I'm in the same boat!
Thank you 🙏🏾.. My fiancé was about to call a repairman over on a Sunday 🤦🏾♀️..
Thanks! That worked like a charm, and the "it'll take 30 or 40 seconds to stop flashing" was important
It worked!!! I thought I was going to have to call for service but my research found your video, Thank you much 🤗
Thanks for the info. I flipped the breaker thinking that would fix it. It didn't but unplugging for 3 minutes worked.
This video just saved my night!!!
You literally saved us hundreds of dollars thank you so much!

Thank you! I didn't leave it unplugged long enough when I tried that on my own.
Yup
You just saved me $$$ for a service call!! Always check TH-cam first. :) Thank you!

You saved me so much heartache. Thanks.

This worked perfect on my Whirlpool Duet washer. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. It locked on us today. Did what you advised us and it worked. Thank you.
I instinctively thought to do the same, but was afraid to, without confirmation. Thanks. It worked.
Again.
I already unplugged it but still couldn’t get it back on. It turned out I did not wait for a few minutes. Thank you for the reminder.
I did the same thing! Had to wait longer.

Ur the best! Thanks much! Instead of unplugging, y’all can turn it off for 2 min and turn it back on. It will work perfectly😊
Thank you for posting this, Mike! Saved the day!
Your a life saver my guy. Keep it up
Thank you so much!! I was so afraid I was going to have to buy a new washer! You saved me $$$$$
Thank you so much! The blinking light kept blinking after I unplugged it, and it was confusing me. It's fixed now.
Thank you! I unplugged the power, but it was still blinking, so I got panicked!! Thank you!
Thanks, just came home to that problem, resolved thanks to you!!

steve truman sorry I don’t remember exactly but it may have run for a short while after repluging
You need to add a video. Have had 3 repair men come to fix it. Works for about a day then locks again
