    Boy Ross I got beat up pretty good over putting new hydraulic hoses on my 1850 the right way as you described, I herd it all from being stupid and a waste of money and they will get ripped off by a chunk of wood ! Well Oliver ran they that way for several reasons 1 is for front mounted cultivators or for a picker but also taking pressure off the hydraulic couplers so they dont ware unevenly and keep them from popping out under pressure. We're like old blue eye's and we do it my way ! LOL Bandit

    Another use for the shake weight siphon hose.

      Faster, faster, harder, faster, switch hands, almost done! Why shake weight, you’re not exercise equipment at all are you?

    My first thought was that whoever had been in there before did not or could not read the manual, especially for that link. The old man in the shop had that link direction drawn on the wall. Having to loosen the fender is easy compared to how they have to do on many modern trucks with diesel engines (Ford especially) have to remove the fenders to get to even some simple items. Kind of like Chevy vehicles where we had to use a hole saw to get access to the spark plugs or like the famous Monza where one had to undo the motor mounts and raise the engine to get to the back sparkplugs. The Oliver fenders were a snap.

    • @ThatOliverGuyChris
      @ThatOliverGuyChris 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That link has a 50-50 chance of going in right, but somehow a lot of guys beat the odds. 😂

    I was always told to never use petroleum products on seals to always use veggie oil

    • @banditfarmer1900
      @banditfarmer1900 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If the seal is used to seal in a petroleum product in why wouldn't you use a petroleum product to lube it up ? All depends on the application of the seal for what it is used for and what to use on it. Bandit

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The only time I really use vegetable oil is putting the sleeve O-rings in the engines. If you use that luberplate, it tends to eat the seals up and they start leaking.

    After watching your videos for awhile, I wonder how first generation farmers make it. They don't have the knowledge base to keep things moving like you do. But then again there minds probably aren't as feeble as mine.

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’ve thought of that before as well. I think they had it pretty rough because they had never seen any of this stuff before they went from doing things by hand and with horses to everything mechanical and that’s why a lot of them lost fingers and hands and arms, etc.. they had to depend on the dealer for service because they had no idea what to do to make it work again. I have the luxury of growing up with the stuff and also it not being the newest technology, there’s plenty of people out there, who understand what to do that you can ask for help.

    The 3pt on my 1650 "hunts". It constantly leaks down and then picks itself back up if you have any kind of weight on it. The lever also won't stay in place if it's so far in the down position. Any idea why it hunts?

    • @rosstheoliverman
      @rosstheoliverman  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It might have a crack in that relief, elbow and let the pressure drain off. The piston could also need resealed. Either way you’ll have to pull the whole unit off and flip it upside down to do it.

      I found that Oliver has just about the best parts availability of any older tractor brand. I worked on a case one time, and I couldn’t hardly find anything. Same with MM and even AC seems to have limited availability to some extent.
