Got this kit yesterday and installed. It works great but was considerably more time consuming than I expected. Also patience is key with the ribbon cables and tiny connections that must be made. Looks incredible though!
@@ExtremeRate at first the light bar wasnt functioning but controller worked fine...I flipped the black cord and the led lights started flickering for a split sec. My light bar was working so I got excited and pushed L1 and Square but nothing..I charged it up for a bit just in case and nothing..

I bought 3 of these already. I’ve installed some for a few friends as well. I’m addicted. I just bought a chrome shell and I’ll be putting these leds on it in a few weeks. Can’t wait.
Bought one of these because I was going to open up the controller anyway to attempt to fix an analogue drift issue. First of all, I got the slightly updated version withou the longer wires, which was great. Secondly, this video was so clear, it really did make it simple, even though I'd never opened a ps4 controller up before. So my fix was successful, and the installation went great. I absolutely love the end result, and I'm resisting the urge to upgrade every controller in my life to match. Lol. Great product. I do highly recommend taking your time, and watching the video all the way through at least once, before you begin, just to minimise errors made through haste.
Super satisfied , no Leds would work at first but instead of complaining and rushing to a refund , I rewatchdd the videos and re did my steps to see my mistake which was literally only was wire being plugged in back wards , best product I've ever bought when it comes to playstation. Will be buying again when something mew catches my eye but works just fine !
This is amazing! Would be really cool if you could control the colors from a phone. Make an app and it will connect to the LED ribbon via Bluetooth or WiFi so it doesn't interfere with the connection to the ps4
just did mine looks amazing. TIP: if you know how to take stuff apart and put it back together this will be easy, no sauldering gun needed just small fingers and the tweezers helped

ExtremeRate My D-Pad is missing some colours too but I just set it to pink and made it work, it’s the only one that’s messed up now so I made some adjustments to my chosen colours so now it’s looking good as ever as long as I don’t set that one to blink or gradient it’s not even noticeable
So I have the newer model and everything activated and stuff but it won’t work( I press home button and it doesn’t turn on and the buttons won’t work either even plugged in to the charger too) also there are holes where the buttons are at too
@@joshgodfrey2131 Rubber offers a better grip. We are developing changeable thumbstick for PS4 controller, we will use a better structure of the thumstick to improve the rubber duration. Thanks for your advice.
I just ordered this, coming in around 2 days and I can’t wait to buy a new controller for this specifically due to the controller I have right now having warranty I do not want to void due time having replaced 2 controllers before this one

@@ExtremeRate I may have to order a new one. I don't know what I did wrong but when i turn it on it seems as if the left stick is stuck to the right side, and the LEDS are not working whatsoever no matter what I try, I have even tried taking out the whole kit and re-adding it all back
ExtremeRate I even took it all out and put the normal pieces back in and the controller is functioning perfectly fine but when I try to put the LED Kit in it just seems to mess with the controller. I am still using the clear buttons however

Looks cool, but I saw a video on Amazon of a guy on Amazon that combined the LED kit with the tournament edition controller. It does technically say it's not compatible, but figured I'd ask to see if anyone else has done that or not
hi the installation and operation of the stove the kit edition went well and works well, but now I have a big problem that I did not have before: the controller connects perfectly and works but after 4/5 seconds it disconnects. pressing the PS button reconnects well and then disconnects. Every one of these i see has wires from the round bits that stick around the toggle area, but both the kits i got dont have those wires, just that same flat gold substance connecting it instead. Wondering if you had to put the wires on yourself?

Replacing the analog thumb stick itself is not the issue it’s the analog stick motor, they sell replacements but you will need to de solder the leads and re solder them back and your issues are fixed
Please reposition the connection part of the LED flex with the controller mainboard, make everything aligned correctly. The 3 layers of the connection parts must be aligned and touch with each other firmly: the LED flex layer, the controller conductive film layer, and the controller mainboard.

i got everything done now i have to figure out how to get the L2 and R2 to respond they work when i press them but when the button is in, it like it doens go down far enough go the rubber things to hit the chip
the final step is the hardest, i got every thing connected just the last two ribbons are hell, the lights blink but i cant get the ribbions to stay in and connect the other and the wires are short making it hard

So I just got mine today and put it all together and once I turned it on it did not light up any colors at all than I realized the right on the d-pad was sticking what should i try to do?
@@ExtremeRate yes I can turn it on and it works as long as I dont use the right d-pad cause it just causes every button to become that button and makes everything just go right and it does not charge at all.
@@alancarpec3947 Please open up the shell and do the installation again, make sure: 1. the connection points of the LED flex and the controller flex are aligned correctly; 2. the black flex plugged correctly (not upside down), 3. the plug and port of the small PCB that connects the battery and the controller mainboard were plugged correctly and firmly.
@@ExtremeRate I did that earlier to make sure everything was good and everything was connected correctly and I was still getting the same exact problems. Right now I have it completly disconnected so I could use it.

When I switched out the Charger inputs where the top light is at, the blue wire was disconnected from the motherboard, so I just wanna know if that will affect anything involving Charging.
Already ordered it might set up a few of my controllers like this only thing I wish I could do is change the light bar color I see them swap it out in the video but they don’t show it change colors or anything there is only one video on how to actually change the light on it without doing the extra accounts but you need to solder... and it’s stuck on that 1 or 2 colors
ExtremeRate I figured out the coding for the rgb I’m going to solder and swap red and blue I know it shows the different players accounts but most games are single player or online games so I don’t use the color codes anyways but I’d love if there was a mod for led light bar there are only 2 videos on how to actually change led but I’m going to make it where it will work but with different colors ^.^

Can I mod my controller with this led together with the Remap Kit? Both with the steps of the TH-cam tutorials? Or do I need different steps if I'm gonna mod the led kit en Remap Kit on my controller?
@@jahedachowdhury3747 There are 2 parts of the LED flex has to be folded down, so on 3:50 it shows you where you have to fold (there are dotted lines printed on the flex). On 4:31 it shows you how to insert the flex connection part to the controller frame (the same place of the controller flex). On 6:05 it show you there are 4 buckles on the controller frame piece and you have to buckle the LED flex to make it sit sturdy. On 7:47 it shows you how to stick the LED flex on the joystick part.
I bought the small one. Just the thumb sticks and the main buttons. But they FUCKED up the battry stick. So now i'm a controller short. How could they fuck up the conection from the battary to the bord but not from the bord to the controller?
Bought 2 DTFS LEDs kits. The first one didn't work. The second kit worked but, only one color is available on the D-Pad and only two on the right bumper and trigger.

Mine is really different. The LEDs for the thumbsticks seems to be attached to the board while in the video, they are attached with wires soldered to the board. What exactly am I supposed to do now if I can't bend them to stay in place?
The black ribbon on the back doesnt stay in place.. neither does the gold ribbon when im trying to do both kits. I'm so frustrated. Been at it for hours

Please try to connect the controller with a USB cable to see if it can be turned on. And then please take apart the controller and re-position all the flexes.

The only complicated part for me is the damn small led strip and the little loose port and I’m starting to think somehow they made an error since my strip won’t stay in place is there anything wrong? Man I was happy until this part
Please try to use a smaller tweezers when doing this process if you have big fingers. After connect them please move everything carefully otherwise it will fall off by the force :(

I’m looking to buy this upgrade. Being able to disable the led section by section (colourless) sort of answers the question I have as I don’t want my thumb sticks to light up. But after watching this installation guide and watching the install of the thumb stick led ring with the note “make sure the thumb sticks do not get stuck. Considering the thumb sticks modules are the continuous problem I have with controllers I feel my question is still valid. Will the kit still work if I cut/remove the thumb stick led ring?
@@ExtremeRate thanks though I thought that was the problem, port a. I replaced the chip that hold port abcd with the original piece so I didn't use the port for (a) but the same problem with L1 square and right directional buttoned happend. Only when I remember every bf aside from the button replacements did it return to normal. (but I spoke with extremerate on Twitter to see if they could figure it out. No answer yet.)
So I just bought this product, and triple checked i did everything correctly and no wires were in the way of everything. But as soon as I plug in the battery, it all flashes red once and will not turn back on. I returned this product and am getting a replacement, just in case if this was a flaw. But it seems like you are answering questions here, So what do I do if this happens again?
about a month i ago i commented the same issue, the ribbon cable from the custom USB port to the controller main board was backwards. (on the main board side) i flipped it and the controller and lights were working fine. and yes it did flash once red. maybe it could be the same issue? 11:27 this ribbon was backwards. i flipped it and it worked.

The 1.0 version fit for the old model, but shoulder buttons and home button not included, and you can't set the lights with different colors on different areas.
My controller with this LED kit is staying permanently red. The settings work in terms of switching which set of buttons I want to program, but the “right on the dpad” doesn’t change the colors. Any suggestions?
Just tried installing this and somethings gone wrong. Are there any help forums or anywhere I can search for help? My L1 and R1 have gone dodgy and some buttons don't always respond. Just slide your finger over L1 and it acts like I've pressed it and sometimes will even activate when I haven't. L2 and R2 are just non responsive. Will take apart and try again but would appreciate advice. Never mind, fixed it. If anyone else has this problem, try turning the rubber bits under the buttons the upside down.
Please check if the rubber under the dpad was stuck, and the contact points of the yellow ribbon cable were aligned with the FPC of the controller correctly.

I've installed the kit and it light up temporarily like it show in the video and it also works the ps4 but it doesn't light up when connected to the ps4 or when charging.
@@ExtremeRate yes, I tried to clamp it down with the tab, but it will stay on for a second with the clamp off, and then go out. When clamping it down it stays off. Is that supposed to happen? Does it blink to tell you it’s on and go out? I emailed you through your website too if that’s more convenient. We think we have a short in the cable.
@@Ftfd888 It supposes to stay in the tab, but the tab is kind of small so you have to do the rest of the process after you clamp it down. If it doesn't stay at all, that means the tab was broken. And it's normal the LED blinks once you connect the cable, it tells you the connection between the battery and the LED flex succeed.
i got this today and installed it. At first my controller wouldn’t turn on so I fixed it. Now everything works besides the color change. I’ve held the buttons in and sometimes got it to flash. On some of the very few times it actually starts to flash it will not change colors.
Is the controller still functional? If yes, it seems the contact points of the flex didn't align correctly, or it was broken during the installation. Could you please check if the LED flex was aligned with the flex of the controller.

I found the side one since no double sided tape was with it, connecting the cable too it before attaching front shell made it way easy

Yes! You can install the DTFS LED kit with the Dawn remap kit. But it's not possible for the old version LED kit (DTF).

ExtremeRate I even took it all out and put the normal pieces back in and the controller is functioning perfectly fine but when I try to put the LED Kit in it just seems to mess with the controller. I am still using the clear buttons however

hi the installation and operation of the stove the kit edition went well and works well, but now I have a big problem that I did not have before: the controller connects perfectly and works but after 4/5 seconds it disconnects. pressing the PS button reconnects well and then disconnects. Replacing the analog thumb stick itself is not the issue it’s the analog stick motor, they sell replacements but you will need to de solder the leads and re solder them back and your issues are fixed

@@ExtremeRate yes I can turn it on and it works as long as I dont use the right d-pad cause it just causes every button to become that button and makes everything just go right and it does not charge at all.
@@alancarpec3947 Please open up the shell and do the installation again, make sure: 1. the connection points of the LED flex and the controller flex are aligned correctly; 2. the black flex plugged correctly (not upside down), 3. the plug and port of the small PCB that connects the battery and the controller mainboard were plugged correctly and firmly.

When I switched out the Charger inputs where the top light is at, the blue wire was disconnected from the motherboard, so I just wanna know if that will affect anything involving Charging.

Already ordered it might set up a few of my controllers like this only thing I wish I could do is change the light bar color I see them swap it out in the video but they don’t show it change colors or anything there is only one video on how to actually change the light on it without doing the extra accounts but you need to solder... and it’s stuck on that 1 or 2 colors
There are 5 colors of the light bar, we didn't moded it, the light bar color will be different if you log in the different player account of your PS4
ExtremeRate I figured out the coding for the rgb I’m going to solder and swap red and blue I know it shows the different players accounts but most games are single player or online games so I don’t use the color codes anyways but I’d love if there was a mod for led light bar there are only 2 videos on how to actually change led but I’m going to make it where it will work but with different colors ^.^

@@jahedachowdhury3747 There are 2 parts of the LED flex has to be folded down, so on 3:50 it shows you where you have to fold (there are dotted lines printed on the flex). On 4:31 it shows you how to insert the flex connection part to the controller frame (the same place of the controller flex). On 6:05 it show you there are 4 buckles on the controller frame piece and you have to buckle the LED flex to make it sit sturdy. On 7:47 it shows you how to stick the LED flex on the joystick part.

I bought the small one. Just the thumb sticks and the main buttons. But they FUCKED up the battry stick. So now i'm a controller short. How could they fuck up the conection from the battary to the bord but not from the bord to the controller?

Bought 2 DTFS LEDs kits. The first one didn't work. The second kit worked but, only one color is available on the D-Pad and only two on the right bumper and trigger.

Mine is really different. The LEDs for the thumbsticks seems to be attached to the board while in the video, they are attached with wires soldered to the board. What exactly am I supposed to do now if I can't bend them to stay in place?

Please try to connect the controller with a USB cable to see if it can be turned on. And then please take apart the controller and re-position all the flexes.

Please check the tin of that LED if it was desoldered, and if so, you can solder it again (but you have to very careful because it's very small)

The only complicated part for me is the damn small led strip and the little loose port and I’m starting to think somehow they made an error since my strip won’t stay in place is there anything wrong? Man I was happy until this part
Please try to use a smaller tweezers when doing this process if you have big fingers. After connect them please move everything carefully otherwise it will fall off by the force :(

I’m looking to buy this upgrade.
Being able to disable the led section by section (colourless) sort of answers the question I have as I don’t want my thumb sticks to light up.
But after watching this installation guide and watching the install of the thumb stick led ring with the note “make sure the thumb sticks do not get stuck. Considering the thumb sticks modules are the continuous problem I have with controllers I feel my question is still valid.

I replaced the chip that hold port abcd with the original piece so I didn't use the port for (a) but the same problem with L1 square and right directional buttoned happend. Only when I remember every bf aside from the button replacements did it return to normal. (but I spoke with extremerate on Twitter to see if they could figure it out. No answer yet.)
So I just bought this product, and triple checked i did everything correctly and no wires were in the way of everything. But as soon as I plug in the battery, it all flashes red once and will not turn back on.

about a month i ago i commented the same issue, the ribbon cable from the custom USB port to the controller main board was backwards. (on the main board side) i flipped it and the controller and lights were working fine. and yes it did flash once red. maybe it could be the same issue?

My controller with this LED kit is staying permanently red. The settings work in terms of switching which set of buttons I want to program, but the “right on the dpad” doesn’t change the colors.

Just tried installing this and somethings gone wrong. Are there any help forums or anywhere I can search for help? My L1 and R1 have gone dodgy and some buttons don't always respond. Just slide your finger over L1 and it acts like I've pressed it and sometimes will even activate when I haven't. L2 and R2 are just non responsive. Will take apart and try again but would appreciate advice.
Never mind, fixed it. If anyone else has this problem, try turning the rubber bits under the buttons the upside down.

So everything worked but the right D-pad button. I hit it once and it keeps registering that I’m holding the right button and I can’t stop it.
Please check if the rubber under the dpad was stuck, and the contact points of the yellow ribbon cable were aligned with the FPC of the controller correctly.

Small ribbon cable (a) isn’t going in and staying on for me?
Is the small black tab on the LED flex still there? That tab is to lock the cable A, when flip up it's unlock, when flip down it locks
@@ExtremeRate yes, I tried to clamp it down with the tab, but it will stay on for a second with the clamp off, and then go out. When clamping it down it stays off. Is that supposed to happen? Does it blink to tell you it’s on and go out? I emailed you through your website too if that’s more convenient. We think we have a short in the cable.
@@Ftfd888 It supposes to stay in the tab, but the tab is kind of small so you have to do the rest of the process after you clamp it down. If it doesn't stay at all, that means the tab was broken. And it's normal the LED blinks once you connect the cable, it tells you the connection between the battery and the LED flex succeed.
