Hi Andrea, I tried Ammonia from the dollar store as well and I noticed that the smell was not strong. Found out it is weaker, it is not full strength Ammonia. I bought name brand Ammonia and had to do it outside due to the smell, BUT it worked great!. I kept them in a bag in a plastic tub incase the bag leaked and I waited over 24 hours as well. I did use about 2 cups of Ammonia so the grate was covered upside down. It was worth the extra cost because they washed off soooo clean. I do this every fall before the holidays and then after the holidays. Since you are pregnant I would not be around full strength ammonia I wouldn't feel comfortable with that at all.
I know you like baking soda, vinegar and such...but for burner grates, I spray them with oven cleaner and let them stand a bit...then they go into my dishwasher. Amazing how they come out clean!
Easy off regular oven cleaner works great to me. Warm up the isles on the stove and then spray and wait and it’s not hard to get off it wipes off very easily! Thanks!
I'm a landlord and when people move out they rarely clean the stove. I use the ammonia in the bag method, but over the course of several days. In other words I scrub it then re spay and rebag, scrub re spray and rebag. Sometimes 4 times to get it all off. Many times I start with oven cleaner from the dollar store to get the top crud off. I also use the side of a spoon to knock off those final stubborn black grease spots. On surfaces that are flat I use a razor blade like you would to remove dry paint splatter.

I let them soak for 48 hrs in 1 gal ziplock bags with ammonia and the formerly impossible to remove crud fell of with running water and the really burned on stuff came off with some scraping and SOS pads. Thanks so much for your post!
I used the industrial type when I was a night porter, to clean the exhaust hood above the broiler for a Burger King Restaurant. One night a big glob fell down, right onto my eye. Chemical burned me so bad that my eye was welded shut for almost 2 weeks. The whole side of my face was like a raw scab. Easy off is seriously nasty stuff.
My only issue is I have pets and I also get severe migranes from harsh cleaning products and easy off makes me head throb every time... so I try really hard to use all natural stuff as much as I can. Do you have any other suggestions that aren't as harsh? Doesn't need to be all natural just not as brutal as oven cleaner? I've tried using dawn and that got the lose stuff off but wasn't as affective as I'd hoped... I use liquid laundry soap for My oven racks which works like a charm but idk if that would ruin the grates.
Amonia, every time!!! I put my grates in a big ziploc with amonia overnight. The gunk fell off in big chunks!! Once I poured amonia over my gas stovetop because I'd cooked a huge meal and didn't clean it right away and you junk was jellied and baked on. Once I poured it all over her stove top I layered plastic wrap over it. I went to bed and the next day I wiped it clean with a micro cloth. It looked new with the only scrubbing was right around the actual burner part. There was probably residue burned stuff on there for months!
This is what I have done. Murphy's Oil Soap full strength; let it sit overnight and then Pressure wash. For really stubborn stains / deposits it may take two overnight coatings of MOS. That is just wipe in on full strength. I know not everyone has a pressure washer; however, in reconditioning homes for resale this method has proven invaluable. MOS is great for kitchen grease cleaning. We use it on cabinets as well and the results are very good.
I heard you can protect your enamel stove top from grease; by rubbing Vaseline on it once you clean it. Let it set over night and it seems to work pretty good. Just wipe areas quickly and they seem to stay cleaner better.
I had that in the worst way, tried everything 😢. Took my stove grill outside and wire brushed it with a cordless drill like new again quick and easy ❤. Wear eye protection 😊.
Hi I use a big rubbish thick plastic bag, you spray the whole thing both sides with straight cloudy ammonia & then leave it out in the sun for 12 - 24 hrs depending how dirty it is, then it just wipes off, you can also use a water blaster or hose,if you want it done quickly, works every time & I've cleaned over a hundred ovens when I house sit, because it's a job people hate doing & a nice surprise for them when they get home :) hope this helps, I do the BBQ outside the same way :)
I purchase barbecue spray cleaner from Sam’s Club for $10 you can get three large bottles plus the sprayer! This is a very strong cleaner for cleaning barbecues, (burned grease !!! ) . So you can imagine how strong this is cleaner is!!! I lay my grades in the sink, spray them sit for a half. I respray every 1/2 hour and turning them too… The more you soak them the less scrubbing you have to do!I also I use heavy duty stainless steel scrubbing balls from the dollar store. Don’t use the sponges anything else you have to use the stainless steel balls. Some of the flat areas use straight edge razor blades with a Blade holder… (Harbor freight) One key point don’t let them get too dirty, do them at least once a month…
I have the 3 of the double grates. I like the outside, no scrubbing ammonia method! I put two grates in a jumbo 10 gal ziplock bag with the top side of grate down, and I take mine OUTSIDE!!! I have hot water for my garden hose and put enough in so grates are almost covered. Then I add about 1 cup of ammonia. Close the bag, swish it around and lay it flat on ground so grates are covered. I lay it next to a drainage ditch. Let sit for about 3 hours. Then take grates out, one at a time, and rinse well with hot water hose,,, then stand up to dry for a few minutes. Then I put 3rd one in same bag to soak.. when it’s done I hose it off and let it dry While I pour ammonia water down into ditch,,, which is in my backyard on my property so no kiddos can get in it! I did this just today and used my throw away disposable Covid mask. Much better working with ammonia than without it!
What if you would soak in a vinegar baking soda mixture and then hit with baking soda and elbow grease? I might try that on mine. The bonus I have is that my grates are black already, but the grime is still clearly visible! Looks fabulous by the way!!!!!! Thanks for your great tips!
You can put those gray grates and the flat burner covers (with the same finish as the gray grates) into the oven on your racks when you run a self-cleaning cycle. The grates and burner covers come out clean except where the baked-on grease was bad. Then that comes out as ashes, and you just wipe them off with a cloth or sponge using a mild solution of dishwashing soap. Rinse under running water in the sink, and dry in the dish rack on the countertop. Easy. Too bad you can’t put the entire stovetop in the oven when running a self-cleaning!
@Mark Berenger That was my thought, I was playing dumb a bit. I just feel like an oven can't get as hot as it would need to completely obliterate buildup
Buy a XXL large ziploc bag (ex. 12 x 24) place the rack in, POUR in the Ammonia and let it sit overnight with the grate upside down so it actually sits in the ammonia. The burnt stuff falls right off.
Try the product AWESOME from the dollar stores. It's $1.00 for a bottle. And it's awesome. It will break up about any stain. You won't need alot of elbow grease either
That’s the problem with ceramic coated grates, next to impossible to clean. My professional Kitchen Aid has cast iron grates which clean fairly easily, even if I get lazy and neglect them for several months. Also, they’re one per burner which makes them easier to clean and handle. The key to using the ammonia method is using as strong of a pure ammonia as you can find, not the scented sudsy stuff. It’s actually the fumes that remove the burnt-on grease and crap from the iron. I put each of mine in a two-gallon ziplock bag and pour in a good cup and a quarter of ammonia, seal them up, swish the bag around and leave in the garage for a day. Then take then out and scrub with a steel wool scrub pad. It just melts away with very little effort. In the case of your large ceramic coated grates, you have the right idea, but instead of using sudsy ammonia or vinegar, spray with blue-can Easy Off, seal up tight, and place in a warm environment overnight or in the warm sun all day long, or, use the type of ammonia that I suggested. If using ammonia it’s key to make sure the bags are as airtight as possible, as like I said, it’s actually the ammonia fumes that remove the cooked on grease, and you’ll need plenty of it. Pour in plenty.
*Update 3/7/23 I found that taking the stove grates and placing them in a container of hot water and dishwasher pods overnight will also do the trick and you don’t have to worry about the potential fumes. The next day just rinse and dispose, preferably outside because you want the grease messing up your pipes. Using 100% ammonia and covering the stove with surran wrap overnight. Also with the grids you can soak them as well in the ammonia over night(cover in surran wrap) if you have in the house or you can leave outside.
Ammonia, one of the main components of wet diapers (I'm old, so I used cloth ones back in the good old days haha). So it's not that harmful if you use it in a well ventilated area and protect your skin from prolonged exposure. (Did you know that in the middle ages, they actually used urine to wash laundry?!)
Ammonia method will have it coming off like butter you must make sure it's enough Ammonia in the bag add more inside bag then close until next day if you have stain that's been there for months or years let set an extra day it works
I'm not sure if you've ever tried used SOS Pads/409?. Well they do good on pots & pans BUT also do a good cleaning job on your stove top for a minimal grimy stove. 409 is more of a degreaser, disinfectant, and cleaner but it does a nice job. However 409 does have a heavy cleaning smell because it's a degreaser ect. I think the plain ammonia would of done a good job but you gotta saturate the grates completely immersed in the ammonia not just lightly spray. And of course make sure to put into a large ziplock bag.
SOS pads would do the trick along with your elbow grease, after a hot bath in the dish washer. That’s what I do. I love SOS pads and also Chore Boy brand of Golden Fleece scrubbing cloths (great for all scrub jobs!). Thanks for the video. 😊
@@AndreaJean After watching your video, I was totally inspired to go and clean my stove that I’ve been dreadfully putting off. Thank God for your inspiration!
I have these exact same types of stove grates. Ugh, they drive me crazy. As soon as I see something spill on them I know I'm going to spend no less than 20 minutes scrubbing them. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, I use Bar Keepers friend for the actual stovetop with the green side of the scrubbing sponge. Then I use a pumice stone on the gray grates. It does not scratch the finish. Ofc mine are pretty old but I have found that this is the only thing that has the power to remove those super tough burnt on stains. The pumice stone still takes elbow grease but nowhere near as much as what you had to put into this. I've also used a wire brush and Bar Keepers friend. This works too but the pumice stone works the best hands down.
Andrea Jean Cleaning Awesome! If you try it, I would love to see a follow up video. Getting those grates clean is a hard job but satisfying when it's done! 😄 (Almost forgot to mention, I get the stone wet while I'm scrubbing.)
I sprayed my grates with oven cleaner and put them in a garbage bag over night. All the gung came right off, didn't need to scrub. Of course I wouldn't do it if I were pregnant.
I have found a product called Awesome in its own spray bottle and I use baking side with it and and just use a little elbow work and the green scrubber u was using let it soak 10 minutes them respray and scrub don’t us any water till your done it’s great to keep up the grease on your stove with out happening to scrub I found it at the dollars store or dollar tree just about any store carries it it melts the grease away I can use it on a lot of different surfaces hope u give it a try I clean for a elderly friend who has a stove just like yours and grease gets every where baked on grease and I new this would work but don’t rinse it off till u have scrubbed off the spots I can keep a bowl of water near by to rinse your sponge but don’t rinse till it’s off
Have seen info that says it is the ammonia “fumes” that actually do the cleaning. So put racks in garbage bags in your garage and leave overnight. Try using the smelly ammonia
Try a copper scrubber like a Chore Boy and a razor blade paint scraper. Also use steel wool instead of the green Scotch Brite pad. The yellow sponge is worthless.
If you let the item you are cleaning sit for a bit in vinegar ( you can spray some on ) and then dust with backing soda, time does the work for you. Anywhere from an hour to overnight. The longer the better. Much less scrubbing effort required.
I just saw a vinegar baking soda and dawn Soap Concoction that was quite successful in restoring all on racks , stove top which hadn't been cleaned in 6-+ years. Barkeepers friend was used to a buffed finished polish. It was absolutely beautiful and Looked Brand new. Try it ??
update: i left it to sit in the ammonia for several days, flipping the bags regularly. i also added a lot more than the lady in the video did. it melted off like nothing. barely any scrubbing. took about 90% of the black burnt on stuff off.
I used Ammonia on one of my 6. I used the pumice stick on the other 5. The ammonia worked really well removing big chunks of old concrete grease. I then used a stainless brush to get the loose stuff off and then followed it with the pumice stick. Pumice stick, about 35 min for a really bad grate. Ammonia about 10 min including prep. I soaked for about 8 hours in the sun with Safeway ammonia. My oven looks great. Next time I’ll use the combo method and try to get the little spots I missed.
You have to really have enough ammonia to cover your grates. If you don't have enough you might try to have papertowels inside to keep the ammonia in contact to your grates seal bag and in the morning the grease should just peel away from your grates! I use stainless steel scrubbers to get stubborn burned on stuff of my stove. Does not scratch. Hope this helps! Buy scrubbie pads online or if you have a Day so they carry them . Kathy
I think u just didn’t use enough ammonia and it may have evaporated. Try it again but after spraying w ammonia, dump a cup in there and knot the bag. Also if your garage is cold, it may cut down the effectiveness. Warm temperatures are better at cutting through the grease.
Also, place a dish of ammonia in the sealed bag overnight or place on the oven overnight. Two birds w/one stone…oven racks and…element racks. Always worked for me. Ammonia is amazing. The ammonia you are using is it full strength or a different percentage?
So the baking soda with a strong man will get the stove clean, eh? Got me a a strong hubs! 💪 Doing the ammonia soak right now. I heard the fumes from ammonia is what cleans the burners.
You need to use paper towels covered with best quality ammonia... then cover them plastic sheet so that moisture don’t get dried out... overnight... dollar store products are not very strong
i like what you are doing. add a 20v black and decker cordless drill to your arsenal and insert the appropriate size scrub brush attachment and attack the remaining spots. the drill with brush attachment will really give scrub power to the cleaning and drastically reduce the time. soaking overnight in a large plastic tray would be a good test too.
If nothing works, try DRAIN CLEANER POWDER. Put them in a tray, put some drain cleaner powder and then add hot water. within a few minutes, they will be COMPLETELY clean as never used before. (Take care of yourself while adding hot water and stay away for 10-15 minutes) Nothing works better than this way.
I know this was posted 5 months ago so I'm sure you already have try this but totally awesome from Dollar tree. It's just yellow in a spray bottle it's the degreaser version.
I think you have to pour ammonia to cover the grate. The woman left it outside overnight. She noticed a tear in the bag and put another bag over it and poured more ammonia and in the morning it was easy to clean
Take lime away toilet bowl cleaner (From Dollar Tree) Dilute 1/4 into a spray bottle and use in the same manner.. wear gloves this has worked on similar projects rust removal and white hard water residue.
So the take-away from this is that the best stove top cleaner is.................a husband. Just did this for my wife....used ammonia...still a good bit of work, but I'm gonna get a tupperware that will fit each trivet and soak one over night more regularly...the problem was we've been in our house for 20+ years and never really cleaned the grates well. I think with a little more frequent attention, it won't be as bad.
100% agreed - LOL! A husband is perhaps the great stove grate cleaner; mine does better than I do with bathroom tiles and fixtures. 😊 Also, the good ole baking soda scrub worked well AFTER the first stage of an overnight soak. Perhaps the overnight soak could be vinegar with baking soda; don't have ammonia and haven't used it in years. A hydrogen peroxide with baking soda soak is another option worth trying, or bleach in water.
The quickest way is to use a 2 bottles of cleaner. There is a video on TH-cam where a man cleans an oxidized greasy burnt on motorcycle rim with 1 spray bottle of muriatic acid, 1 spray bottle of ammonia, a garden hose with a lot of water, CLASS 3 REGULATOR MASK, (or greater) AND SAFETY GOGGLES, GLOVES, LONG SLEEVES. I use this now on everything greasy or grimy. You have to be outdoors and be upwind (so the vapor doesn't get near. You should search for that video as I am not going to give any advice on this subject other that it works extremely fast and that you can seriously injure yourself if you dont follow safety precautions

Once I poured it all over her stove top I layered plastic wrap over it. I went to bed and the next day I wiped it clean with a micro cloth. It looked new with the only scrubbing was right around the actual burner part. There was probably residue burned stuff on there for months!
When I clean mine, I sprayed them and then I have them laying face down in the plastic bag so they keep better contact with the solution.
You can use a cooking oil instead when you are finished cleaning.
I had that in the worst way, tried everything 😢. Took my stove grill outside and wire brushed it with a cordless drill like new again quick and easy ❤. Wear eye protection 😊.
I swear by Bon Ami. It’s gentler than baking soda and does a great job at scrubbing. I use it on the stove top, inside the oven, in the bathtub etc.
Thanks Brittany!
Gentle won’t take off baked on grease
I find that the dawn spray works wonders I spray it over night and then i softly scape them and rinse them in my shower omg looks so good new
I keep a spray bottle of ammonia and water to use on my stove for clean up after I cook to clean up grease spatters. Works well, so will windex.
I like using ammonia for cleaning the stove it cuts the grease and leaves a beautiful shine
I Put them in your self-cleaning oven and let it bake off! Mine came out beautifully with next to no scrubbing!!
I purchase barbecue spray cleaner from Sam’s Club for $10 you can get three large bottles plus the sprayer! This is a very strong cleaner for cleaning barbecues, (burned grease !!! )
Thanks Karen 👍
What if you would soak in a vinegar baking soda mixture and then hit with baking soda and elbow grease? I might try that on mine. The bonus I have is that my grates are black already, but the grime is still clearly visible! Looks fabulous by the way!!!!!! Thanks for your great tips!
Thanks Linda ❤️
Try baking soda half lime . Try sprinkles baking soda squeeze lime bubbles keep using lime stubs hard stops . Lime juice it’s work
Thanks Terri!
How does that work. Why does it turn to ash?
What a great idea!
@Mark Berenger That was my thought, I was playing dumb a bit. I just feel like an oven can't get as hot as it would need to completely obliterate buildup
I have put metal pans, woks etc with grease buildup in oven self cleaning and they come out shiny. All the grease turns into Ash. It works perfectly
Vinegar and baking soda together is the trick. Let it soak for about 15 to 20 minutes and it will come right off with no scratches.
Buy a XXL large ziploc bag (ex. 12 x 24) place the rack in, POUR in the Ammonia and let it sit overnight with the grate upside down so it actually sits in the ammonia. The burnt stuff falls right off.
Carbona grill and oven cleaner Works AMAZING!!!
Try the product AWESOME from the dollar stores. It's $1.00 for a bottle. And it's awesome. It will break up about any stain. You won't need alot of elbow grease either
Thanks Susan!
I take mine to the garage and fire up the propane torch. A few minutes and a little wiping and they are as good as new.
I use an SOS pad to clean my stove top and grates. I do clean them often so, no build up.
Yes! Priorities! I had 10 children and thank you very much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
After spraying W/ammonia, place a piece of Saran Wrap right on the sprayed surface. It really makes a difference.
*Update 3/7/23
I found that taking the stove grates and placing them in a container of hot water and dishwasher pods overnight will also do the trick and you don’t have to worry about the potential fumes.
Thank you for this! I was about to use the ammonia but will now try the dishwasher pods first instead :)
Ammonia, one of the main components of wet diapers (I'm old, so I used cloth ones back in the good old days haha). So it's not that harmful if you use it in a well ventilated area and protect your skin from prolonged exposure. (Did you know that in the middle ages, they actually used urine to wash laundry?!)
urine in a cloth diaper to take thrush out of baby's mouth immediately
From what I’ve read, urine is sterile. Some tribes bathe their newborn babies with trine.
Thanks Deanna ❤️
@@AndreaJean After watching your video, I was totally inspired to go and clean my stove that I’ve been dreadfully putting off. Thank God for your inspiration!
Chore Boy is my favorite brand of scrub pads! They work!
Oven cleaner works great. Use it also on glass cooktop’s, baking pans, tea kettles, and your metal frying pans.
How long did you leave it on?
It works great!
I am definitely going to try that stone!! Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Andrea Jean Cleaning Awesome! If you try it, I would love to see a follow up video. Getting those grates clean is a hard job but satisfying when it's done! 😄
(Almost forgot to mention, I get the stone wet while I'm scrubbing.)
I sprayed my grates with oven cleaner and put them in a garbage bag over night. All the gung came right off, didn't need to scrub. Of course I wouldn't do it if I were pregnant.
Nice!
I have found a product called Awesome in its own spray bottle and I use baking side with it and and just use a little elbow work and the green scrubber u was using let it soak 10 minutes them respray and scrub don’t us any water till your done it’s great to keep up the grease on your stove with out happening to scrub I found it at the dollars store or dollar tree just about any store carries it it melts the grease away I can use it on a lot of different surfaces hope u give it a try I clean for a elderly friend who has a stove just like yours and grease gets every where baked on grease and I new this would work but don’t rinse it off till u have scrubbed off the spots I can keep a bowl of water near by to rinse your sponge but don’t rinse till it’s off
Thanks Linda!
Andrea Jean Cleaning Your welcome 😊 give it a try let us all know how u liked it
Yellow cap Easyoff - plastic bag it and spray, leave overnight, and then neutralize with vinegar the next day. It'll look like new.
I run my grates through the dishwasher. Also Dawn works great if you don't have a dishwasher.
Use 1/4 cup of ammonia and leave over nigh. It works much better than just spraying them.
Have seen info that says it is the ammonia “fumes” that actually do the cleaning. So put racks in garbage bags in your garage and leave overnight. Try using the smelly ammonia
I like SOS pads, but not too much pressure
Try a copper scrubber like a Chore Boy and a razor blade paint scraper. Also use steel wool instead of the green Scotch Brite pad. The yellow sponge is worthless.
you can use soapy water and a single edged razor blade for those chunks of baked on grease. That ammonia is probably watered down
If you let the item you are cleaning sit for a bit in vinegar ( you can spray some on ) and then dust with backing soda, time does the work for you. Anywhere from an hour to overnight. The longer the better. Much less scrubbing effort required.
Soaking anything burnt on in a wet baking soda paste is very effective
Thanks!
would you recommend adding water to the vinegar or ammonia
For cleaning my stove grates, I use AJAX and steel wool. Let it soak for a few min and the stains come right off!
Good idea! Thank you 👍
Gotta love mother in laws! 💕
Try it ??
I just use oven cleaner. Works for me.
Good deal 👍
Just be real careful with oven cleaner. It is very caustic and will burn your skin..source: self experience
Me to. I'm lazy.
How long do you leave it on.
I wonder how oven cleaner would have done. I've used old fashioned oven cleaner to clean stove top before & it dud a great job
Great idea!
i tried oven cleaner on it, it worked somewhat but not great either. trying a lot of ammonia on mine right now. we shall see how it works.
update: i left it to sit in the ammonia for several days, flipping the bags regularly. i also added a lot more than the lady in the video did. it melted off like nothing. barely any scrubbing. took about 90% of the black burnt on stuff off.
Surprised yours didn’t come off good. I have similar gray grates and put nice amount of ammonia in a plastic bag overnight and it came right off .
After letting grates soak over night in bag, steel wool scrubbies really help.
When using ammonia pour it in the bag. I dont have double grates only single put enough in bottom of freezer bag let sit overnight and works amazing!
Thanks!!
Thanks so much!!
Doing the ammonia soak right now. I heard the fumes from ammonia is what cleans the burners.
You need to use paper towels covered with best quality ammonia... then cover them plastic sheet so that moisture don’t get dried out... overnight... dollar store products are not very strong
Make a paste with Dawn dish soap and baking soda. Leave on for 1 hour then scrub away
Thank you!!
She’s comparing vinegar. A natural cleaner vs chemical
I use a razor blade to remove the little stuck on grease spots; works well on grates too, especially when nothing takes everything off.
Have you tried easy off over night then scrub with a sos pad . I know it works great for old cookie sheets that has that baked on brown stuff.
I can try leaving it overnight 👍 thanks for the idea!
That is exactly what I do. Works great.
i like what you are doing. add a 20v black and decker cordless drill to your arsenal and insert
the appropriate size scrub brush attachment and attack the remaining spots. the drill with brush attachment will really give scrub power to the cleaning and drastically reduce the time.
soaking overnight in a large plastic tray would be a good test too.
Thanks John!!! 👍
Cleaning strength vinegar is the bomb.
Kya yeh vinegar khanay wala h kya
If nothing works, try DRAIN CLEANER POWDER. Put them in a tray, put some drain cleaner powder and then add hot water. within a few minutes, they will be COMPLETELY clean as never used before. (Take care of yourself while adding hot water and stay away for 10-15 minutes) Nothing works better than this way.
any specific brand you’d recommend? 🙂
@@grespinosa I am using ComStar Pure Lye! It is in a 1lb plastic bottle. Works great.
Dawn and brillo pads work best with the elbow grease. 😊
Thank you!!
I agree totally. dawn is an awesome degreaser
Thank you soooo much. This worked perfectly. Only thing I powered washed off the grates. They are squeaky clean. Gracias Merci and T H. A N K S
Glad it helped!
You have to let it sit overnight and spray well the ammonia method works
Borax, washing soda, or OxiClean will take it all off effortlessly.
I know this was posted 5 months ago so I'm sure you already have try this but totally awesome from Dollar tree. It's just yellow in a spray bottle it's the degreaser version.
I will try that 👍 thanks for the idea!!
Take them out side and spray them down with oven cleaner, works like a charm
I think you have to pour ammonia to cover the grate. The woman left it outside overnight. She noticed a tear in the bag and put another bag over it and poured more ammonia and in the morning it was easy to clean
Grates don’t need to be covered. The FUMES are strong enough to do the cleaning. But be SUPER CAREFUL! Ammonia can damage your lungs!!
On your grates that are the shiny type, oven cleaner works best overnight in bags. Spotless
Take lime away toilet bowl cleaner (From Dollar Tree) Dilute 1/4 into a spray bottle and use in the same manner.. wear gloves this has worked on similar projects rust removal and white hard water residue.
I clean top range in lime juice with baking powder Put small bowel wire sponge everything comes up wipe clean sponge
I would use Dawn with vinegar, and baking soda to make a paste.
I soak mine in the tub with dish soap and some vinegar. It comes clean. I soak completely for 2-3 hrs at least.
Thanks!
@@superdalmatian101 , just pour the vinegar in the water. A cup or two, I don’t measure it…lol
