Hi Paul, best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery, I hope the operation went well. Don't worry about TH-cam, we'll all still be here when you're ready and able. Good to see you adjustable anti backlash nut again!! You know if it wasn't for the Yorkshire coast at summertime I might not be here. A bit further down the coast, at Filey, is where my parents met, at Butlins, long gone now, even the station has been bulldozed!! All the best!!
hi Paul nice job on the mill, all the best with the family issues I was in Torbay that week, but you can be anywhere if the weathers good see you next time atb Kev
Hey Paul, no need to worry about us - family should always be your first priority. I pray that your wife has a speedy recovery, and know that I’ll be patiently waiting until the time is right for you to resume posting videos. Life is not about TH-cam, rather it’s about sharing, caring and reminding each other about the things that are genuinely important in life. Be safe, be well and know that even that I don’t personally know you, I care. Best wishes!!
I've always been impressed that you have managed to keep up a weekly schedule Paul, but family always comes first. Don't worry about us, we'll be looking out for the next ones, no matter what. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery.
Hi Paul, it's far more important to look after your wife than concerning yourself with a video routine. Hope she recovers quickly I'm sure all your viewers will be here once you can get back to enjoying working in the shed(s)
Hi Paul. Sending best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery from her surgery. I hope all is going well. As always thank you for sharing your milling machine maintenance. Always interesting and informative to watch, and listen to. The walk to Ravenscar from Robin Hoods Bay and back with a detour to Bogle Hole is a perennial favourite of my wife and I. It holds a special meaning to us both. ❤ See you on the next one. 👏👏👍😀
And the sound of grandkids in the background is a familiar one! We just got back from a holiday with our kids and grandsons from a trip to San Diego. I do love the ocean!!
Hi Paul, wow what a lovely vacation spot. Don't worry about the videos family comes first.. Wishing a speedy recovery for your wife. We have quite a few family needs happening here..my video making is on the back burner for a least another month. Nice job on the maintance.. shop is looking real nice. Cheers....ATB..
Engine hoist, health and safety Paul. I've seen this done with a 5 ton fork lift in a shipyard. Love your improvisation. It worked really well. Hope your wife takes it easy and recovers fully........Tony
Family first Paul! Put out videos when it works for you - and that is true all the time. I thoroughly enjoyed this one - I enjoy a touch of milling machine maintenance 🙂. Very good stuff. All looked good and solid. Really enjoyed the beach shots - proper English style beaches - many happy memories from such places, and more yet to come I hope. Best of luck to you and your wife, and hoping for a speedy recovery.
Family first Paul, hope all goes well with her procedure 🙏. I'd forgotten about your mill head rest, excellent aide. Im sure she won't mind bringing a few little shop jobs inside 😮😅. Thanks for sharing.
Hi John, she's over the Op and 12 days into recovery. Seems to have been successful and she's quite bright but is not supposed to lift anything heavier than a 'cup of tea'. I'm just beginning to get out of the house and do some stuff again. Cheers
Nice job there. Should show your fire suppression system, not seen that particular style by me, looks like it will work well in your shed, though cleaning dry powder off is a pain.
Paul, family first, TH-cam second! Of course, you could (try to) convince your wife to spend her time in your workshop! :P Seriously though, I wish for your wife's speedy & successful recovery. Edit: If you do get a set of the ball-end Allen keys/wrenches, remember to use non-ball-end Allen keys/wrenches to loosen tight fasteners to avoid breaking the ball-end off of the keys/wrench(es)!
Hi Bob it may surprise you to know my wife actually started a mechanical engineering apprenticeship as a general fitter, and that involved basic manual machining, but she quit after 2 years to follow me on my industrial experience placements. We are still together after 45 years so you could say her bet paid off 😁. But it does mean she understands/follows my workshop stuff. Cheers
As others have already said - Family First (always) Now that's out of the way I've paused at 6:44 to ask if would it be possible to temporarily swap that bolt head on top of the mill head, with a lifting eye? So you could safely lift the head on-off using your engine hoist? Just an idea, as 35 kg is a tough lift.
Hi Paul, yes I think it would. There is an oil filler cap in the top of the vertical head which could just as easily take a lifting eye. I have thought about it. I could make a small crane to bolt into the hole where you see the lifting eye on the horizontal beam. I actually have some RSJ I-beam and I have thought about making a gantry either fixed to the wall or on wheels but then it all takes up space and how often would I use it? But a small crane on top of the mill is a possibility worth considering. Cheers Paul
@@HaxbyShed I can see the drawbacks of a using a gantry crane in a shop that has space restrictions. I'm sure you have a long list of other projects lined up already, but we've all seen those small lightweight hoists that fit on lathes (hooking onto the tool post), but I guess that they cost an arm and a leg. Maybe someone like Vevor will develop a similar hoist one day and ask you to test / review it :)
Very nice work sir. Yeah the old machines need a bit of love from time to time

Always enjoyable !
All the best to the lady. We're all behind her. And in no time she will be as good as new. Or even better.
Family first, always! Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife!
That is a nice little mill.
Cheers Paul. Pass on my best wishes to Mrs Haxby Shed 👍
When she married me Matt she could not have imagined one day she would have such a exalted title. Back home and recovering well, thanks. Cheers

I can recommend the Wera Allen key sets. They do imperial and metric. I haven’t damaged a cap head since getting them 😀
Hi Julia, I see those on the web thanks. Cheers Paul
I always look forward to your videos but please look after your wife first and foremost.
Best of luck.

Robin Hood's Bay made me think of the Doc Martin tv show. Beautiful coast.
good video Paul
