Dean said to me "it must be a bit freaky, I feel like I know you well but you don't know me at all?". Well actually I know him quite well anyway from his channel, so it was not so strange really. We could have chatted all afternoon if we were not cut short by the freak storm of massive hailstones that day. Cheers
Hi Paul. Thank you for allowing us all the “eavesdrop” your conversations. So interesting to hear you talk about your career and machines. Filming from a distance also allowed us to better gauge the size of your workshop. Looks to be a lovely space indeed. 👏👏👍😀
It amazes me how similar our backgrounds are. The description of a real apprenticeship, college day release, further education and a lifelong international career. In one generation the right way has been predominantly lost and been replaced by instability. Thanks for reminding everyone of how good it was and could be again.
Hi Geoff I've been thinking about your comment and decided that I have no firm data, just a feeling that I agree with you. Back when I was training the country had a number of clear 'missions' - one of those being defense during the cold war which employed tens of thousands of engineers and scientists. Another was the telecoms revolution, then the dot-com boom. The world has globalised and possibly the UK has less influence and reach. But then again if you travel (or even just TH-cam) you will come across many Brits in professional roles internationally. So maybe it's just the nature of work that has changed. But I do know it's very hard for school leavers to find jobs with good prospects. Role models and mentors are hard to find. It's hard to aspire to something you have never encountered. Cheers
@@HaxbyShed Agree there is no firm data. Maybe its because there is so much uninformed social media and too many journalists, and opinionated 20 year plus ‘experts’. Maybe with the under current of people working normal lives, professional and others, some are blind sided to reality. Its work which brings meaning to a good life and your examples are very valid. With all the clowns and robots in No 10, it was reassuring to hear one prospective Tory leader is an Engineer who explores the issues first and makes a workable plan instead of invoking political lies based on no knowledge of what is possible. Not wishing a return to the past, only that new generations learn from it instead of trying to rewrite same. Past - learn and understand, Present - live in it, Future - plan realistically for it, nature’s rules apply, not ours even if your name is Canute.
Great to see the visitors enjoying your workshop!

Indeed Stuart. We have a nice community.
We do indeed! I couldn’t think of a better simple statement than a thumbs up. 😃 Kind of sums it up.

Indeed I am, yes.
