    The trick I used to get the hammer spring bracket back on was I got an allen wrench that just barely fit between the bottom of the frame and the metal bar. Then just pulled down on both sides till it clicked.

    Mine's the 1894c. I gave it the Wild West lever, fallower and ejector. As well as Skinner Winged sights for both front and rear. Put a scout rail on it. Got to tell you, I'm as pleased as punch with it. Been planning on getting the Happy Trigger. Just haven't gotten to it yet. Bought the rifle from Big5 about fifteen years ago. Just before the Remington debacle. Absolutely my favorite rifle. And the last one I'll ever get rid of. So far, it looks like Ruger's going to do things right. I'm looking forward to what they might accomplish. Thanks for the great video.

    Most informative video for us Marlin Thumper lovers. My 1895 GSBL was made in December 2017. The Remlin factory did a fantastic job. Mr. John Marlin would be proud. Thanks for the Edumacation!! Haha haha Peace Be To Journey!

    I enjoyed your video and style. I'm going to install on my Marlin Dark 1895 in .444 Marlin. To those negative comments about the looks of your rifle... I love the SBL but would probably have left the original furniture because it looks great. To those that complain about the kick I love to shoot mine. My Springfield M1A NM feels like a .22 after putting 20 through the .444 but it's a good hurt while I'm on it. The only thing I have done so far is put a Leupold 1-4 illuminated reticle scope on American Defense mount that I had sitting around. Bottom line my 1895 is one of my favorite guns and my collection would be the envy of 99.9 percent of enthusiasts and spans a wide spectrum of types. Thank you.

    I have a new Ruger/ Marlin 1895 45/70 and I put the Happy trigger kit in, The ejector makes the action a little stiff at first, After working the action about 200 times it seems smoother, It shoots fine and ejects good, I may put the factory ejector back in, I do like the trigger, About a 3.5 lb pull vs the factory pull of about 5.5
    The trigger also doesn’t have the Marlin Trigger wobble any more , Great gun

      The Remington made Marlins have a trigger pull of 4 lbs. 10oz. This is 11 oz. lighter than Ruger Marlin triggers? If Ruger is so great at making firearms, even Marlin lever guns, then what happened to the triggers that they are so heavy now compared to a Remington made Marlin?

    I agree that a Remington made 1895 CB 45-70 needs nothing to be added to it. You can shoot 10 boxes of HSM 430 grain +p ammo out of a Remington made Marlin with the extractor it comes with in the box and no problem! I think the Wild West parts are superb, just saying if you don’t have money to upgrade right now don’t feel like you have a sub standard lever gun because you don’t.

    Really like your videos man! Question for you on your Marlin 45-70...how do you like just having the red dot as an optic choice rather than a LVPO (1x4/1x6)? I'm torn on what I want to add to the pic rail but am thinking just a red dot considering I'll normally only be shooting 75-100 yards due to caliber size and use case (hog/predator) and don't really see a need for a scope at those ranges. I'd appreciate your thoughts/feedback. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

    Try some dangerous game loads from Buffalo Bore, Garrett, or Corbon. They are quite powerful and are designed to kill brown bears. They will penetrate heavy hide, muscle, and skull. They will penetrate a grizzly from head to tail.

      The Remington made Marlins after they got rid of the crappy JM parts that were left over, re- engineered all the Marlin parts for all models, set up on tight tolerance machining on brand new CNC machines, starting in 2016 Remington made the best Marlin lever guns ever! Remington made the Marlin dark series, beautiful 1895 lever guns. They put the plastic Henry X models to shame! Do you really think a world renowned firearm maker like Remington would make anything but superb Marlin lever guns? Of course not! All those false rumors are just that false negative rumors from JM fan club members. They can have their weak chambered JM’s!

I wouldn't buy a Marlin for the past 20 year's, everything Remington bought and owned they ruined. I'm backing the new Remington, because I would love an R1 limited and R1 tactical. 45-70 is a very stable round out past 1000yrds. I have used an 1895 GG for hunting, no scope and never had a range issue around accuracy. Just know your gun and your load. A man with one gun is more capable than a man with all the rest.

      Never could understand why all these guys are saying this round is not very good past 100 yards when this is what they used back in the 1800s for hunting .

    • @babagum769
      @babagum769 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They aren't reliable at 1000 yards at all. With a 320 grand bullet, you're at about 1200-1250 fps at 300 yards which means your going from supersonic to subsonic between 300 and 400 yards. When a bullet makes this transition, it starts to tumble, making its trajectory impossible to predict. A 45-70 is only reliable to about 300 yards (+- depending on the round), and with 1080 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yards, it's only really suitable for medium game at that range. Only really effective 0-200 yards, especially for hunting.

    • @frankammirati3385
      @frankammirati3385 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@babagum769 I don’t think I suggesting 1000 yards , there are guys out there loading their own rounds with longer barrels achieving 700 yards . It’s definitely not something I would take into long distance comp , however I was mostly referencing back in the day this round was their go to and they were taking game out past 300 . IMO it’s todays barrel length that is limiting it .

    • @babagum769
      @babagum769 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@frankammirati3385 OP claimed 1000 yards. 45-70 was a blackpowder cartridge back in the day which lost its popularity after rifle calibers like 30-06 came around. There's no way in hell that anyone was taking down anything larger than a rabbit at 300 yards and no way in hell they were doing that reliably. With modern cartridges, at 0-100 yards, they're capable of taking down pretty much anything on this planet. With modern bullets, they only have about 1080 ft-lbs of energy at 300 yards so only suitable for medium game. There is no doubt that they were used a ton in the 1800s for hunting but they weren't shooting 300 yards with black powder. 100 yards would have been a long shot for them to take.

      @@babagum769 exactly. I honestly think that @hansonmcbride meant to type 100 yards and not 1,000 yards.

    Can someone explain all of the comments assuming this rifle was made in Mayodan, NC? That is where Ruger built a new factory for Marlin production. This is a Remington Marlin made in Illion, NY. You can tell by the bar code BS on the left side of the receiver.
    There is no reason to replace the ejector on a Mayodan made Marlin. Also the Ranger Point Precision replacement trigger doesn’t fit the new Marlins according to RPP so I would wait until WWGW updates their parts.

Pretty much everything stays very clean and appropriately oiled except for rifles that get carried daily and used frequently, I like to know what they will take before they start slowing down, for most it turns out they will take an awful lot. Wat? The spring breaks, and it has 0 to do with the ammunition. The factory ejector was machined from stainless and the spring formed from spring stock.
    Edit: is this a Remington abortion? You're right about that ejector being mim, where the Marlin was not, at least none I've seen. Still, the spring is what breaks.

    I always use Bore snakes for cleaning my barrel. I don’t trust cleaning rods and brushes as they can easily scratch the inner bore of your barrel. This is impossible with a bore snake. Just drop it through the action and pull out the muzzle a few times and you are done. I usually spray some Ballistol oil on the brushes part of the snake the first and second time through, and the third time spray a little Ballistol on the end of the bore snake. The cleaning is perfect this way!!

      Indeed... in my experience with more customer's Marlins than I can count, about the only thing a Marlin typically needs is some smoothing in a few choice areas, and they benefit greatly from taking some of the insane factory tension out of the springs. Other than that, you can run them fairly dry, and they'll fail to close or chamber due to years of carbon build-up long before they'll break.

    When you buy a rifle, you should know what you want to do with it. Unless you are hunting bear, water Buffalo, moose, or elk in the cascades, 45-70 is overkill. I have, and love, a Marlin 1895gbl I use for self defense while riding horses or camping in bear country. I'm not shooting more than 100', maybe 200', well within effective range of a Govt 45-70 round. Good choice on the Wild West upgrades. One of the first upgrades I made.

    DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR MARLIN!!! For the most part, these WWG items are problematic solutions to problems that don't exist, or can be easily fixed for little effort and much less money. The WWG ejector in particular is absolutely fricken horrid... it puts way too much side force on the left of the bolt, causing premature wear in the ejector slot of the bolt, and right side (ejection port side) of the bolt and frame. I have seen this personally when properly tuning 336/1895 variants where the WWG ejector had been previously installed. I've been a competitive cowboy gun shooter for over 20 years... lever action silhouette where hotter loads are used, and cowboy action with lighter loads. I've never seen a Marlin ejector break on the firing line... broken firing pins?... yep, firing pin springs... yep, carrier plunger buttons... yep, but ejectors?... never. Yes, the factory magazine follower is slick plastic, as such it glides easily in the mag tube, and over the nose of the carrier during empty-tube cycling. I can't imagine a firearms designer thinking aluminum, which is more likely to gall and grab over time, would be a better solution. Stainless?... maybe, aluminum?... hard no. I've been inside hundreds of marlin lever actions... once again, I've never seen a plastic factory follower that's been broken or worn through. The WWG trigger will lighten the pull... however, you've got to take the action apart anyway to install it. Why not just disassemble the action, take some of the ridiculous tension out of the factory trigger return/lever safety spring, and lightly take the rough edges off the factory hammer and sear with a bit of fine emery cloth? while you're at it, install a reasonable reduced-power mainspring for $10. You'd be amazed at how much just those 3 things will help trigger pull, keep the rifle reliable even in extreme environments, and reduce wear. If you really want to add reliabilty, install a one-piece firing pin available from several online sites (don't want to name anybody and get accused of pimpin' their products). But, whatever you do, DON'T put the WWG ejector in... If you put alot of rounds through your rifle it certainly can permanently jack things up!

    • @randymagnum143
      @randymagnum143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The factory JM ejectors were sketchy at best. They would often allow the forward most part to project into the path of the extracted case, and tie the action up.
      I have no faith Remington did anything better. I *would* and will, try a Ruger Marlin to see what they've done. But for now, the wwg ejectors are gtg.

      The Remington made 1895 CB 45-70 is one of the most excellent Marlin lever guns ever made as far as I am concerned. People do not know that the so called Remlins were J.M. Marlin parts inherited by Remington after the buyout, and assembled by former J.M.Marlin workers. I believe what ever year mine is it was one that was all Remington. Super accurate. Aim at the bullseye at 50 yards and bullseye is what you get. This was how it was out of the box. Of course the lever action was a little stiff because Remington made their Marlin lever guns using close tolerance CNC machines. After around 100 rounds my Remington Marlin was just right. The wood to metal finish is perfect, the American Black Walnut stocks are beautiful, the finish superb!! It functions flawlessly!! No function flaws after 500 rounds. The Remington factory Trigger pull is 4 lbs. 5 oz. and I think this trigger pull weight is right where you want it to be!! Remington made mine, and I could never think that I could own a better Marlin 1895 CB 45-70 lever gun. I only paid $630 dollars retail. This was just a few years ago, brand new!! Compare that with the rip off prices Ruger is charging for theirs!! $1,200 to $1,300.
      My Remington Marlin has the 18.5 inch barrel and 6+1 rounds. It was called the CB 45-70 in 2016;when it was produced in Illion N.Y.
      After this they changed the 18.5” barrel to the Marlin 1895 CBA 45-70 standing for Cowboy Action Model. The 26” barrel remained the 1895 CB 45-70. The SBL is beautiful but I prefer the American Black Walnut.

      I ordered this WWG kit on a backorder, thinking it was the way to go to drop the heavier than desired 6lb trigger on my RM 1895. While waiting for it to come, l cleaned up the hammer and sear engagement along with the installation of a Wolf reduced power hammer spring. The net result after firing 20 rounds is a 3lb 8oz trigger that feels perfect and so far goes bang consistently. I'm going to continue shooting it in this configuration so long as it doesn't have any light strikes. I may not need this kit, but that's life. Live and learn. 😊

      Hey, they are good for attaching a flashlight and a cartridge quiver for some extra rounds on the gun. Same concept as a shotgun's side saddle. I'd say a light is very important if you want to use it for home defense. If you live in a commie state, a lever gun is a good home defense choice. Hell, it's a good choice regardless of your state's laws. Maybe not in 45-70, but a 30-30 would be ideal power wise.
