    Made them in Colorado at 8600 feet didn’t do any altitude adjustments and they came out awesome thanks! My husband was addicted to Einstein bagels chain when we lived in the city. Now that we are up in the mountains I don’t get to town very often. They are a keeper recipe. Going in my recipe box!

    Hell yes! Just made bagels for the first time from this recipe. They turned out fantastic! I followed your recipe to the letter and made a plain bagel batch, then made a 2nd batch of egg bagels (added 1 egg yolk per bagel) and a 3rd batch of onion bagels (added 1/4 tsp onion powder per bagel). My family is very happy today. Thank you, Kevin!

    I just made these bagels and they turned out well. Last week I tried bagels for the first time and made a sourdough recipe for them. They ended up on the compost pile. So I tried your easy plain bagels to learn how to make them before progressing to the more difficult sourdough bagels. My plan worked. Your instructions are easy to follow and I learned a lot about making basic bagels. Thank you! I enjoy your podcasts even though I am too old to start homesteading and raise pigs and chickens and goats. I find them very entertaining.

    Love the video! I am learning a lot from you. Actually, I am a professional chef and trained for 4 years at a Hilton hotel. This is what is so nice about my profession - you never stop learning. You guys may find this funny but if you touch something really hot like a bagel or a hot potato and want to go under cold water, try grabbing your ear lobes instead. You will be surprised. Just like I was when I found out that you can actually deep fry and oven bake ice cream lol

Can hardly wait to see what you both have in store for the following videos. Keep them coming because we’ll be watching.

    I made these yesterday and YUUUUUMMMM..., they were fantastic. My whole family loved them and the biggest critic (my 9 year old) thought they were shop bought.., could not believe that they were home made. We had them with pink salmon, advocado, baby spinach leaves and a poached egg on top. Huge hit ..., big thank you from my whole family.

    I baked your English Muffin recipe.. thanks.. it turned out great.. I had a different kind of flour.. my hubby shopped and brought home 100 lbs of "cake" flour.. instead of 25 lbs of all purpose flour.. who am I to complain.. so despite the recipe, I'm using the cake flour.. so far so good... the muffins are perfect.. now I need to try your Bagel recipe.. I bet it''s as good.

    Add a little edge to your bread board that just hangs over the counters edge and it won’t slide. My grandmother taught me that...those folks were the pioneers and now we are playing catch up. God Bless and thank you!

    Thanks for such an easy recipe.

    Still hot from the oven!!
    They are delicious and everyone is in agreement with that!
    Only change I made was used half bread flour to help with the chewy aspect. Delicious!! As my husband is chewing his first bite he said “are you making more?”
    Lol
    Even my picky daughter exclaims how yummy they are!!
    I’m gonna tackle a cinnamon raisin one next!
    Thank you so so much Kevin!! And thank you to the three lovely ladies in your life ❤️

      Thanks.

    • @masuganut2082
      @masuganut2082 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      canadice1999 sure! Well I didn’t have raisins but I dipped some in cinnamon sugar which was ok at first but then afterwards they were wet on the outside from the sugar melting in the oven .
      When I do it again I would just mix the raisins in and cinnamon before I add the water and just proceed as normal. I would eyeball the amount of raisins you want. Could even try dehydrated cranberries some time. Same with the cinnamon. You’re gonna have to judge it based on what you like. I tend to like things cinnamony 😄 I would just make sure to add all of that before the water. I was also thinking of adding a smidge more sugar in the batter but we will see. I’ll try to remember to post again when I make them.
      I made cinnamon raisin bread over the weekend so, same flavors but that doesn’t help you
      If you make it before me I would love to hear how it worked for you 😄thank you

    • @masuganut2082
      @masuganut2082 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      canadice1999 hey so I know this is way back but all I did was continue throwing raisins into the mix (before the water) until I was satisfied with the raisin ratio. Just eye balled it 😉 and added cinnamon. Again we eye balled it. They were for my daughter so when she came over and was telling me that it looked and smell good then I knew I was done ❤️

    Reading the comments, it looks like you have a good recipe. I make mine a little different. One thing I do is add a little sour dough starter to my dough. Another is letting them ferment in the fridge overnight. Lastly, I add a 1/4 cup of baking soda to the boiling water... it helps them brown nicely in the oven. I've never thought about flipping them after 10 minutes, though. I'll have to try that.

    Its was sunny and 77 yesterday (we skipped school to play). Last night got thunderstorm and tornado text warnings and a freezing advisory this morning. Sounds like a perfect time to try Kevin's bagel recipe. Almost messed up with the teaspoon tablespoon stuff, but they are on the cooking rack now, and actually look like Kevin's masterpiece. Whoohoo .... who knew bagels were boiled. Thanks guys, you are full of awesomeness :).

      I would play hooky from school too with a day like that! Hope you enjoy the bagels as much as we do!

    Love this can’t wait to try- I always think it’s weird how long bagels from the store last, I’m trying to switch over to homemade everything without preservatives!

    Kevin, I was checking out your Amazon link, some good stuff, I like the game knife set and sharpener and what is up with the crossbow?!?! I love that! glad you have that pink salt there too, that is popular. The coconut oil too, my wife loves that for our dogs to eat (just a little) and to rub it where they might have calluses.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Just wanted to mention a quick tip...place a wet cloth or paper towel under cutting boards to prevent sliding around.

    I just may attempt to make these. You make it look so easy! At what point, and how, would you add toppings? I was thinking after you removed from water, but then you flipped the bagel over when baking, so now not sure. Thanks!

    After watching several bagel makers, yesterday I chose your simple method as the one to try.
    They were wonderful! As with so much of life....it seems that simple is best! Thank you!

    Yum!
    From the looks, I would make fewer from the recipe so they are big enough to cut in half and toast

    Making them with the water used for mashed potates is also very good
