Who in the world would give this a thumbs down!! Kevin and Sarah are absolutely my favorite TH-cam channel. I love their character and integrity. They are great teachers! Their children are truly blessed to have these two as parents. Thank you for another wonderful recipe. God bless and much love!
Kevin, I almost cried when you said "my great grandpa made this cupboard and that's my grandma's bowl". Caught me off-guard, so sweet! Love watching. Thank you for recipes!
“You don’t like it, go buy them at the store”.....LOVE IT!!! My grandma would say “you don’t like it, then don’t eat”......amazing how everything looks good when you get hungry enough 🥰🥰!!!!
My Dad's favorite saying is : " what's the difference between what you will and won't eat? " answer: " about 3 days. " Needless to say, when I grew up, you ate what was put in front of you, no complaints. I'm thankful for that. Love this channel, yall are great
Loved the comments of your parents and grandparents! Too many children are absolutely catered to in their food choices. Eating ONLY chicken nuggets, or whatever. Before everyone freaks and starts screaming about their child with a legitimate eating disorder (usually early childhood eating disorders are linked to autism, etc,) Yes, I know in some cases it's a real thing. And I also acknowledge that some people just don't like a certain thing. But, that said, if you train your children that you will make or buy their favorite thing every time, you can end up like my brother and his wife who had to make THREE meals for dinner.....one their son would eat, one their daughter would eat, and one for them. Absolutely ridiculous. When my son was little, if we ate out at a restaurant, we NEVER ordered the kid's meal. I got what I wanted and my husband got what he wanted and we got an extra plate. Our son learned to enjoy a variety of foods very early. At home, the rule was: you don't have to eat it, BUT, you don't get something different...just what's on the table AND it's showing up again at breakfast and you have to at least taste it then. We never had to worry about him being picky at a friend's house and he will eat anything. It's great!
Ok just made these. My husband is beyond happy. I cook him breakfast every morning and these are the main ingredient. Lol We go through two packs a week. These were so easy to make and your instructions were on point. Thank you so much.
Great recipe! Thank you. Will try it. By the way, another good reason to make your own breads is that even the organic breads have TONS of preservatives and other unwanted ingredients in them! Good for you!! Stay healthy!!!
We have tried their bread, bagels, and English muffins. So appreciate these videos and instruction. We will never go back to store bought!!!! You won’t be sorry for trying these.
Hello Kevin. I like the fact that you mention alternative ingredients each time. That's pretty good because we may all have different ingredients available to us depending on where we live. Enjoyed watching your video. Thank you & be well & safe. From Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
I’ve made this 3 times now and it is on point and makes the best muffins! I double the recipe but wanted some texture so I used 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour to the whole flour mix. It was phenomenal. By far the best batch I’ve ever tasted. They freeze well. Love your channel.
I actually laughed out loud when you said "No one does a cooking video and says oh, that's terrible." Your muffins look great and your sharing this recipe is appreciated.
I love how informative your channel is and how you're not Know-it-alls! You don't tell people how to live their lives but just suggests another way that they can try or not. It just works for you. I really appreciate that. Keep up that great work! Much Love from MN!
Kevin and his wife are my favorite ones to watch. Great teachers and they are blessed. I watch them all the time for new things to make.. Keep up the good work. If I lived closer to them I would love knowing them..
I love baking too! I love that Kevin jumps in and does this. He is so right who wants machined stuff? No character. Made by hand with love the best ever! Thanks Kevin.
My grandma's pastry board was a a sanded piece of oak plywood with a lip on the edge to catch the edge of the table to knead, roll pastry or pasta.....I love your laid back easy going ways.
Oh my goodness!!! They came out PERFECT! These are so easy, tasty, and quick, who could ask for anything better?! I'm 75 and afraid to ever try making them. You have just given me the best gift. Thank you thank you♡
Kevin I love English Muffins too but stopped buying them because they are expensive. Thank you for sharing your recipe; I'm definitely going to make these.
Excellent video! Very enjoyable with perfect instructions. So glad there was no annoying music! Just great, clear instructions, the way it should be. I've been wanting to give English Muffins a whirl!!
Cast iron heated in the oven will cook much more evenly. Before shaping the dough, put the pan in the oven, turn the heat to 400f and by the time your dough is ready, move to the stove top at your desired setting and begin. You'll be amazed at how they look!
Hello from Ava, neighbor. Just ran across your channel. You are right the farmer's market doesn't have a great selection of artisan breads, especially this spring since it is closed. This is the wife by the way. Love your channel. Will make these maybe today. We don't buy any bread at the store because I make all our breads, save for the muffins. So thanks for the recipe. Bet I could throw all ingredients in bread machine just on dough setting. Arthritis stinks with kneading bread! Stay safe and healthy!!!!
Hi Kevin and Sarah, great job on these English muffins! They looked delicious! We really enjoy your videos, you guys are really inspiring. As a baker, I wanted to give you a little trick of the trade. A simple technique that will make your breads, English muffins, bagels and other baked goods taste even better and last longer on the shelves. The technique is called a poolish, it’s a pre-fermentation technique. You take part of your ingredients, mix them up and let them ferment on your countertop overnight (or at least 2 hours before). If we take your English muffin recipe as an example, you would take the third of your flour (approximately 1 cup), add the same amount of warm water(1 cup) and a pinch of yeast, mix them up lightly by hand in a bowl, cover with a wet towel and let it ferment overnight. It will be very liquid, it is normal. The next day, you add the poolish to the balance of your ingredients and make your English muffins as you would do normally. Do not forget to subtract the ingredients of your poolish from your original recipe. Here is your English muffins recipe (with the poolish variation): For the polish: 1 cup warm water 1 cup flour a pinch of yeast Balance of your ingredients: ¼ cup warm water 1 Tbsp. Sugar 1 Tsp. Yeast 2 Tbsp. Melted Butter or Oil 1 ¾ Cups flour (Plus a little extra) 1 tsp. Salt Cornmeal for dusting This technique works very well for bread, English muffins, bagels, etc. Anyways, I hope you’ll give it a try, continue the great work!!!
Terrific recipe! My mom and dad received that same set of mixing bowls for their wedding 61 years ago. The biggest one is yellow. The others are red, green and blue. Mama gave them to me when I got married. Warms my heart to see you using the yellow bowl.
I have watched this video two times now. I buy my English Muffins and they just seem to have really gone down hill this past year. I keep saying I will make your recipe, but I am the only one that will eat them. I think when I make a batch I will share with my sister, she loves them. I can't wait to make them. I watch your video's all the time. I don't have a homestead, but my family was poor and my grandparents had farms. We raised chickens and every year would butcher a cow and a hog. My dad hunted, but most of our food came from my grandparents. Thanks for your wonderful video's and your recipes.
Kevin love the simplicity of your recipes keep up the good work love Sarah and your channel really have changed our way of eating we do not home stead but we are eating healthier God Bless and Thank You both
Oh I can't wait try them. My dad passed away November 2019. I moved back home to take care of my mom. We both love english muffins. I will have to try making them. But I will try using the opening of a jar to cut them.
My hubby has told me these were easy snuff to make, but never have.. first time I’ve watched the process.. think I’m adding this to my list of things to make to ‘dazzle’ my grandkids when I head to their home in Alaska ..thanks for taking the time to show us how!

Awesome video! I am 52 yrs old and our kids are grown and on their own. I was raised in Iowa and we always had a garden and canned slot of things. Unfortunately I married and moved away at 18. Living in big cities I couldn't have the garden but I have always cooked meals for my family, 3 meals a day even with working. we ate out very little. The one thing I didn't do a lot of was baking. W
With covid I have picked up baking! I started with bread, pizza crusts, pies, cakes ect. Now I am ready for the fun stuff! Thanks for this video! Tomorrow is going to be english muffins! Also I am going to try your recipe for artisan bread! Great!!!
Thank you for sharing this recipe and “how to video” Kevin.. I’ve made these several times now and your right, they are fabulous! Today I got on a roll and made 4 batches.. I share with my kids and their families, and btw they freeze beautifully...I use my cast iron grill on the top of my gas stove and you can do a whole batch at once..just cover with a tin pan and it works great. We love this recipe.. Thank you for all the great learning videos! You and Sarah are the best! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@247KW so it’s not just me. It’s Thursday, so it’s make muffins day. I’ve taken to adding a little Italian seasoning into some of the dough for a savory taste. Great with egg salad. Cheers !
This is a great recipe, easy and turned out very good! Say hi to Sara, I hope she is healing well! I had breast cancer surgery in Mid March so I know all about recovery, take time to take care of yourself, its very important right now.
It warms my heart to see that old yellow bowl , we have one too... it doesn't get used often enough but then,we kinda cherish it and don't want it broken. All the others to the set got broken over the last 50 odd years, even the extra little white women that we used for gravy for every meal... it was white and had two different sized pour spouts on each side and had blue outlines of chickens running around it.
Just made the English muffins. They are delicious and easy to make. Love watching ALL the videos. Living Traditions Homestead is always a thumbs up. 👍 Thank you Kevin and Sarah.
You have done it again 🤦♀️ First i learnt from you both how to make bread now these, soon my hubby will have me baking all day long every day 😂😂 Thank you xxxx
l have my mothers bread board that my uncle made for a bunch of the ladies in the family, he was a carpenter, he put a raise lip around 3 edges. love it.
I keep trying to convince my 25 year old son that girls LOVE guys who can cook. He's not buying it, but I keep trying. lol I've made the crunchy bread a few times now and it is as fantastic as Kevin said. It goes great with soups and stews. It's also great just by itself, toasted, with a little bit of butter and jam or peanut butter. Oh and Kevin, nice shave and beard trim. :) I will definitely be trying this recipe out. Thank you Kevin.
It's true. I keep trying to convince my husband of that too. Not for him to get girls obviously, but because I would love cooking together with him. I really do think it's an attractive thing for a man to cook. The closest I have gotten to getting him to cook is that he makes coffee every morning and brings a cup. It means the world to me. He doesn't get why it means so much but I see it as an act of love and it makes me feel special every morning. He's been doing this since we married 16 years ago. He drives me crazy sometimes as I do him too, but I tell you I love him so much.
Kevin I making another batch today. I added half whole wheat and sesame seeds. I will be doing this way again. I have replaced my store bought english muffins and store bought buns. Hamburgers and other sandwiches are on served on english muffins now. I love them toasted best. This is my go to recipe!!! Thank you for sharing.
English muffins!! I’ve had one for breakfast every morning for 40 years. Going to make my own now! Thx for the video! Hey did you finish the duck shed? The suspense is a killer. We want to see how you make the roof! Thx!!
Kevin, thanks so much for this recipe! My husband and I have cut way back on expenses, and I have normally bought Aldi’s English muffins but guess what, they went up in price so I just decided no more English muffins. I had also seen recipes that looked very complicated. So, I’m trying yours! I just made up the dough and waiting for it to rise. It is the softest dough, and this recipe with your video I’m sure they will come out great. I’ll let you know. UPDATE: perfect! I had to cook them on medium low heat a little longer than the instructions, but that’s just my stovetop. My husband loves them. Thanks again!
I made these this morning and they are just what I had been looking for.. The grocery stores locally do not carry English Muffins . I do not know why anyone would give this a thumbs down -- tastes good to me. Appreciate you sharing this.
I wanted to write and say thank you. I saw this a few days ago and gave it a go today. Wonderful new experience making English muffins. They came out great and got me thinking about making a sourdough starter and giving sourdough muffins a whirl.
@@bonnieofbluebellbarn4181 Would think it'd be the same, just instead of rolling out/dividing, put dough directly into 1-2 loaf pans (depending on amt of dough & what size pans you used, might not all fit into one. Could prob use round cake type pan also, tho slices would def. be different than standard toast look) that were brushed w/ little oil & then dusted w/ the cornmeal... Can do same on top of dough too, if you choose. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned on top... cool.... slice... Then, toast when ready & Nom nom, have ya some!! :) Stay safe & be well.
Kevin, all my friends and neighbors thank you! This recipe is so great that since I started making it, everyone that I've shared them with, asks for them all the time! THANK YOU! BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
Finally I got around to making your English muffins. They turned out perfect. Egg McMuffins for us tomorrow morning. I get so much enjoyment from your channel. I’m 82 and you and your wife are a fine source of inspiration even for me. Thank you so much for what you do.
I made this today and it looked and tasted delicious. I posted a picture on FB and my friends were blown away with how much they looked like store bought. I stopped buying bread products after having a loaf of rye in the fridge for six months that looked like the day I bought it. This year I have also made naan bread for the first time. Will have an egg sandwich for breakfast tomorrow.😋
This is my goto video when I make English Muffins. We like the sourdough flavor, and sometimes we ferment the yeast overnight when we aren't keeping a Sourdough starter... the same way yeast is aged for Ciabatta. This recipe is great to cut in half for days like this where we have too much of everything left over from the holidays and just want a couple fresh English muffins. Thanks again, for this recipe that keeps on giving!!!!
Ex baker, here ... Love the spirit, and the common-sense. These look great. I *do* think forming a bit of a membrane on the outside of your portions by lightly rolling them into dough-balls under the cup of your hand, for their second proof, would give them a lift? But then, what they gained in lightness and consistent crust, they'd lose, in charm. And folks would tell you that you bought them.
You both are great at making videos that are entertaining and chocked full of information. I am a Christian and certainly see the importance of a simpler life, family and hard work. God bless you in your journey.
Making these tonight for supper- turning them into tuna melts. So far so good! I think they will turn out awesome. All your recipes so far have been wonderful- crackers, "soy sauce", pasta sauce...keep them coming!! You both are do talented ❤️
This is a wonderful recipe. I made this last winter several times, and have come back to watch the video again and write the recipe down. I stay out of my kitchen most of the summer here in the South, but I love to cook and bake in the Fall and Winter. I love these.
This recipe seems easy and I do have a cast iron skillet maybe a tad bit bigger than yours. Husband loves English muffins but the recipe I use takes forever. Thank you. God's blessing to you and yours
What i love is that i often go back threw your channel to find things you have done and made like this recipe, and you make it easy to follow, so today I've watched the orange juice canning ( with the flash back and yes i did like the other kitchen BUT i like this kitchen as well as it looks bigger?) but its been an educational Sunday for me, thanks again
I have never seen bc anyone do them from scratch …so wonderful to have a homemade recipe to try Thanks so much they truly look amazing and delicious ! ❤
This is quite a long video for such an easy recipe, but it SO worth it. He gives lots of helpful tips and details as well as clear footage of exactly what's going on. Feeling well-prepared now and looking forward to trying these. We have 4 boys, so I may have to double (or triple) the recipe... Thanks Kevin!
They look delicious and easy to make. There's just two in my household and I'm the only one that likes English muffins and it would take me weeks to eat all those muffins. I'm so happy to see a man who is so family oriented. That really shows in your baking and the proofing process on your granddad's and grandmother's things. Warms my heart to see young folks with some of God's grace being shown to the world. God bless you and yours.
Thank you for letting us know about your baking board, I went to Lowe's and bought a piece of oak plywood and I cut it to the size I wanted, then I rounded the corners and found a food-safe oil to rub it in to protect it. I absolutely love it.
I LOVE THIS RECIPE! I started making these about a month and a half ago. My family now requests that I make it at least every other day! I can't keep them in the house! By the way, they are EXCELLENT for making mini pizzas. I just put some sauce and toppings on (I've even used your homemade mozzarella recipe. Mine turned out softer, which was ok, because I just mixed fresh basil into it by hand, then smushed it into pizza sized circles with a spatula. Worked wonderfully!) then put it under the broiler until the cheese gets brown and bubbly. They don't get soggy with the sauce. :) Oh, and for anyone who has a cold house, try setting your oven to its lowest temp, letting it preheat, then turning it off for a few minutes. Then proof your doughs in there. It works wonders for me!

This is a great recipe, easy and turned out very good! Say hi to Sara, I hope she is healing well! I had breast cancer surgery in Mid March so I know all about recovery, take time to take care of yourself, its very important right now.
LOVE THIS RECIPE!! I travel full time in an rv and this is great since I dont have a regular oven. Cant wait to make them!
It is early morning here in north FL and I am making bread just like you. Now I will try the English muffins
Thank you Kevin
Just made the English muffins.
They are delicious and easy to make.
Love watching ALL the videos.
Living Traditions Homestead is always a thumbs up. 👍
Thank you Kevin and Sarah.
You have done it again 🤦♀️ First i learnt from you both how to make bread now these, soon my hubby will have me baking all day long every day 😂😂 Thank you xxxx
l have my mothers bread board that my uncle made for a bunch of the ladies in the family, he was a carpenter, he put a raise lip around 3 edges. love it.
I agree with you. No one ever says it tastes terrible. Good job on making the muffins!
I realized my husband was a keeper after he made me spaghetti carbonara without a recipe. He died this summer and I miss him and his cooking so much.
@@graytart I am so sorry for your loss. Keep your good memories. They will bring a smile to your face, in spite of the tears.
motherofone1 Thank you. I have over 28 years of wonderful memories.
Some girls do, and some girls don't. Everyone's different.
Thx!!
Me too! I forgot about that.
Me too.
I’m in that club too!
I love to see a man in the kitchen! My hubby loves baking and bbq’ing. He’s the best, I do the rest.
Yum! Im totally trying that!
Thank You Kevin,! I have store bought English muffins almost everyday. I look forward to making these from scratch.
Man, I love them, and I’m going to make them. Thanks Kevin
Great recipe💪
The camera needs to be on every time Kevin cooks
Need some apple butter on those warm morsels
I wanted to write and say thank you. I saw this a few days ago and gave it a go today. Wonderful new experience making English muffins. They came out great and got me thinking about making a sourdough starter and giving sourdough muffins a whirl.
Same here!
Try English muffin loaf. It's great to toast and super easy.
Do you have this magic recipe?
We’re getting our first snow in Northern Illinois too
Finally I got around to making your English muffins. They turned out perfect. Egg McMuffins for us tomorrow morning. I get so much enjoyment from your channel. I’m 82 and you and your wife are a fine source of inspiration even for me. Thank you so much for what you do.
Well that’s it. I’m making these!
It’s not just the missing hat, is it? You’ve lost weight ! Looking good, Kevin!
Kevin & Sarah ... You both are a blessing to watch! And you are both talented cooks to boot! Thank you for sharing your recipe with all of us!
I know I can trust Kevin’s baking advice because he’s willing to wear a dark colored shirt while working with so much flour.
LOL
How do I get the recipe..?
@@filomenaroberts4709 watch this Video Kevin walks You thru making it
@@filomenaroberts4709 He has the recipe in the description drop down box under the video.
@@filomenaroberts4709 it's in the notes from the video
This is my goto video when I make English Muffins. We like the sourdough flavor, and sometimes we ferment the yeast overnight when we aren't keeping a Sourdough starter... the same way yeast is aged for Ciabatta. This recipe is great to cut in half for days like this where we have too much of everything left over from the holidays and just want a couple fresh English muffins. Thanks again, for this recipe that keeps on giving!!!!
I'll take these over store-bought any day.
Omg I love English muffins, thank you thank you thank you! You really are a great teacher Kevin. Lol all great cooks have asbestos hands 🤣
You both are great at making videos that are entertaining and chocked full of information. I am a
Christian and certainly see the importance of a simpler life, family and hard work. God bless you in your journey.
Thanks Kevin! Have you tried avocado oil? It is a great light oil with no taste.
Tryllium T
I’m not a fan of Sunflower oil. Some say it’s not very healthy. Avocado oil is the bomb 👌
I love that you guys tag team your channel. You're both so easy to watch and learn from. Thanks for sharing everything with us.
Lol this is the first time ive seen you without a hat
I know right.... he looked different to me lol
@@Hcollingwoodfoxy I kept thinking did he get a haircut?
@alison webster he has in the past. Doesn't mean he isn't a gentleman.
Almost didn’t recognize him, but the tee shirt was a giveaway lol
@@Hcollingwoodfoxy me too!! LOL
my husband makes those every week. I cut them in half and toast them further in a pan on the stone......so GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I might make those next weekend 😋
Making these tonight for supper- turning them into tuna melts. So far so good!
I think they will turn out awesome. All your recipes so far have been wonderful- crackers, "soy sauce", pasta sauce...keep them coming!! You both are do talented ❤️
Didn’t even recognize you without ur hat lol
Jennifer from A Country Life made these, I will make them too. I got corn meal down on my grocery list. Thanks Kevin.
"I guarantee these aren't terrible!" Lol
This is a wonderful recipe. I made this last winter several times, and have come back to watch the video again and write the recipe down. I stay out of my kitchen most of the summer here in the South, but I love to cook and bake in the Fall and Winter. I love these.
I have been searching for a homemade "english muffin recipe". One that was not time consuming and rather easy yo make. I found it! Thank you do much!
This recipe seems easy and I do have a cast iron skillet maybe a tad bit bigger than yours. Husband loves English muffins but the recipe I use takes forever. Thank you. God's blessing to you and yours
Those are so good! I am making another batch for fishing this weekend! Thank you for a great recipe! If I can make these anyone can!
You are a great baker husband for sure. I am definitely trying this recipe. I love English muffins. Great job!
Kevin you are a keeper!!! You young man makes this old gals heart Happy....You and Sara make a lovely couple.... Bless your family!
Put them in a double plastic bag & put them in the freezer.
Thank you for letting us know about your baking board, I went to Lowe's and bought a piece of oak plywood and I cut it to the size I wanted, then I rounded the corners and found a food-safe oil to rub it in to protect it. I absolutely love it.
Today I made these and man are they awesome. Thanks for sharing the recipe...God bless you and your family from Payette Idaho
