the n64 to gamecube jump is so insane I think that graphical jump will never happen again between such a short amount of time, hardware in the 2000s improved so much compared to 90s
Fact spoken here! This was at a time where the generational leap in visuals made sense to jump on getting a new console day 1. I miss these days…

of course mate, I will watch more videos from you so I know what to put on my GPD Win 2, (btw I managed to run F-Zero GX at 60 fps except Sand Ocean, since Nintendo did not give me portable F-Zero GX, I made it myself, now F-Zero GX fits in my pocket!!!!! I have the 2019 version of GPD Win 2, it has stronger CPU m3-8100y, and is the size of 3DS XL!!!! Dolphin is optimised so much better on Windows than on Android. If you want to play Gamecube games on a 3DS type handheld, I cannot be more happy with my GPD!!! I also got it for only 400€ almost mint, so I got a bit lucky (btw since it only has 720p screen you can run Gamecube games at native resolution and still looks great)@@GameCubeGalaxy
and yeah ps4 and ps5 graphics look almost the same lmao, except ps5 has higher resolution and framerate, ps2 to ps3 was the first generation where there was actually a downgrade in framerate
Well the jump from snes to n64 was huge to I dare to say bigger, it not only change graphics from 2d to 3d it also change the way we play video games
it was just different, i really do not like n64 tbh, snes games aged like fine wine with crt royale, but n64 games look like drunk north korean videogames nowadays @@Badmojo
I didn't play Star Fox: The Adventures, but Star Fox: Assault took place, and it's a good game, and the first Star Fox game I've played.

It’s a solid game, though the comparison with Zelda does it no favours, as it lacks the range of items that defined Zelda games at the time. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun, with an interesting premise involving the tribes. Loved going up against the Red Eye’s in the Walled City.

@@thegreatestever913 The marketing of the game going back to the days when it was called Dinosaur Planet and was scheduled to come out on N64 referred to Zelda a lot.
It obviously shares certain characteristics with the Zelda franchise, least of all due to being part of the action/adventure subgenre, though the game stands well enough on its own.
It’s a very fun game. I still remember it vividly despite not having played it in well over a decade.
Good to hear Tricky doesn’t get annoying, with companions like that it can be a fine line. Oh man idk about that no jump button, that would take a long time for me to get used to. I’m impressed with how good the dialogue and cut scenes look. I like the bargaining mechanic when the merchant… that’s something that old school Nintendo games used to do and they would scold you if you tried to knock the price down too much. I never knew you left the planet and went other places, that’s awesome and I think it adds a lot to the game as well as giving hardcore StarFox Fans something with the flying segments. That’s awesome it has a day and night cycle in the game, those details go so far for me. Fantastic review, GCG! I have this in my library but never played it. I look forward to one day experiencing it.
Haha yeah, Tricky they made a fun companion for sure. The “no jump” button honestly becomes second-nature very quickly 👍. The bargaining mechanic is really neat, and I like that the game doesn’t “tell” you that…it actually gives you a visual hint that maybe you can adjust the price. I miss when games left that kind of curiosity within its mechanics. I think you’ll really enjoy this game man! Thanks for checking out the review!
6:50 very small detail but I really enjoy seeing Fox's Arwing parked to the side like a car. Reminds me of the 1993 comic where Fox (and his team) would park his Arwing outside his treehouse

Just finished the review. Good and detailed for people who haven't played yet and for the most part I thought u did the game justice with your opinions. I'm glad u didn't nitpick at the dinosaur language. Many complained bcuz there were English words in it even tho real foreign languages have English words as well 💀. But yeah good stuff bruh 💯

I first played this in 05 but could never get into it. Same for last year. I always had more fun with Assault.

I feel like Lola Bunny and Krystal have a lot to do with the furry boom in my generation 😅. I loved this game when it came out. I always forget about it.
I really do respect your opinion on Conquer's Bad Fur Day But in my opinion the jokes are just too crude for my taste But at the same time I do respect other people's opinion. Who really do like that game? But I'm not one of the very few people who enjoyed it. I personally preferred banjo kazooie Is over conquers bad fur day Because to me I grew up with that game.

I remember getting this game and was a little taken aback by the different style SFA presented . But I loved every minute of it.
My only nitpicks are
1) you really didn’t fight Gen Scales 😔
2) unskippable dialogues and cutscenes.
But that’s really about it.
I also remember being shocked about how the fur was rendered. I’ve seen fur done in a few GC games, and SFA topped them all.

The graphics and Aesthetic of The Arwing sequences are so beautiful in this game. High contrast and colorful. I would have loved to have more of them!

Absolutely beautiful game. As a fan of the starfox franchise it didn’t bother me at all to have a game of this genre. It was like a bonus to be able to enjoy this quality of a game within the starfox IP. There’s a good chance I may not have even experienced the game if it wasn’t starfox because I wouldn’t have had the initial intrigue of the franchise.

This is a really great game. However my favourite was Beyond Good & Evil. Duke Nukem lost it's "status" now...Will we ever see the second game or will it surpass Duke even further in the longest delay of a game 4 ever (see what i did there)? All the changes over the years also made me even question if i'd even consider playing it in the future.

I always knew this game looked great, but your footage in particular makes it look like total eye candy, I would always turn on the game and just hang out at cape claw for like half an hour
back then I always thought it was cool that a sequel did a total genre shift like this, so I was never a part of the hate crowd for this game not being a "real" star fox, it's a great game

This game is impressive in so many ways. They did a great job giving it rhat "Zelda" feel while still maintaining its owj identity.
If i were to change anything, as nit-pick as it is, aiming with the staff powers SUCKS. why didn't they do a 1:1 movement like the bow in OOT??? Annoying.

Never understood the hate this game gets.
Its "No proper Starfox game" as people say..

It started out as a brand New IP by Rare called Dinosaur Planet..
But Miyamoto thought because the main character was a fox it could become a Starfox game.
As an action adventure game its actually really good.
Great atmosphere, some of the best graphics you saw back then (it still holds up.. Just look at the water in this game!)
And don't get me started on the music.

Starfox Adventures was my first game when my mom bought my Gamecube in 2003. It's my first love along with Super Mario Sunshine. I can jump in and replay SA at any time and it will never get old for me. I almost forgot about the different combos using the analog stick. I use the main combo for the regular dudes and the freeze magic for the brutes 😂
Oh wow, that's awesome! Star Fox Adventures really is a game I could easily replay, and always enjoy. The different combos are nice, but I do wish he had a bit more of a combo selection. Despite that, his combat always looked cool in action! Thanks for checking out the review!
IMO, Rare's swansong was Jet Force Gemini since they were more or less forced to make SFA by Miyamoto. Also, JFG is a way better game. It took advantage of everything the N64 could do w/o the expak. It's a truly great game.
Meanwhile, SFA is just kind of a boring slog to play. Not nearly as bad as SF Zero, but still not very good. The puzzles were easy but too long & spread out for filler, the combat was either spam A or use spell then spam A, the flight missions were too short, & the last boss felt shoehorned in. The best part about it is the blue furry bait & the graphics.
I loved Jet Force Gemini! Easily one of my favorite Rare games. That's fair if SFA wasn''t for you, and respect it. I personally loved it, but always intrigued to hear other perspectives! Thanks for checking out the review!
Such a unappreciated game man I played for the first time and I had a ton of fun despite never playing a Zelda game this game was my introduction to that genre while it has some issues still a top notch game

Highly recommend playing it if you can! Thankfully this game is still even on the cheaper side of GameCube exclusives 👍. Aside from playing on the GC, there’s a Wii that you can play it on, or even Dolphin emulation (just to name a few avenues lol). Thanks for checking out the review man!

I do sometimes wonder what the final game could have been like if Dinosaur Planet was completed as its own thing. With Krystal being playable throughout the whole game.

When i got this game over twenty years ago, i though it was awesome.
But now, i hate that many levels are missing and all those cuts they had to make to get this run on DVD and sake of 60fps. Music is also a lot worse than it originally was.
It's not even planet anymore!
Even at the end when pieces of planet fuze, -you can't even enter the freaking planet anymore!
Well, at least Switch got cartridges back.
So, for anyone playing Starfox Adventures: Remember to copy your save file before final boss, or you can't enter any of the levels ever again and have to start all over!
Dinosaur Planet is better game.
I mean, I can understand the concessions that were made, and clearly made this a visual showpiece for the console, while being an excellent game still. Yeah, a lot of changes were made from Dinosaur Planet, but I still love the final result this game turned out to be personally. Thanks for checking out the review!

But as sections like Discovery Falls and Diamond Bay were completedly deleted, final result is lacking a lot. Also, desing changes on existing levels make them really disconnected to each other. Not to even mention that completedly useless NGC -exclusive "loading zones", between bigger areas are waste of time to play.
I don't mind StarFox as a playable character on Dinosaur Planet.
But i do mind when utterly stunning source material is shrinked into something inferior.
This is one of the few games where I personally identified with he protagonist: balh blah blah, just tell me the next thing i need to get for the next stone.

I beat this game for the first time last year as dont know why it took me so long haha. Better late then never. Really loved it. Anything that has a Zelda type formula, im down for as it was so fun to explore and the story was quite rich. Great review!

Nice game here! Hoping this will get remastered now that Microsoft allowed Banjo-Kazooie in Smash and legacy Rare games are in Switch Online.
And this is a pretty big jump from N64 to GameCube. Nowadays I felt like there isn't much to improve on. Only thing I notice for jumps now are details you won't notice until you look closely like hair strands or skin pores! Don't get me wrong it's cool systems can do 4K more often, 120 FPS and raytracing, but not as groundbreaking as N64 to GameCube. I don't think a PS6 or Xbox successor is necessary for about 10 years or at least noteworthy revelations happened!
You nailed it 1000% about nowadays console no longer providing a TRUE generational leap. The leaps from SNES to N64, and N64 to GameCube were truly jaw-dropping! Here’s hoping we could even just see this ported to the Switch or its successor one day. Thanks for checking out the review man!
I always think they shouldn't be on the rush to make new systems. I heard rumors that Sony and Microsoft will be making 8K enhanced models of PS5 and Xbox Series. I felt like 8K is overkill considering there's barely anything that uses 8K at it's full and the enhanced PS5 and Xbox Series consoles would be cashgrabs.@@GameCubeGalaxy
What is your absolute least favorite game from rare.
Least favorite Rare game…I’d say almost anything that landed on the Xbox 360 from them. I felt like none of those games had the soul that made Rare who they were.
This is one of the Gamecube games I remember most fondly from my childhood and I will always hold a torch for it. Back in 2003 the game's graphics were mind-blowing and honestly they still look good today. I'll always love this game.

I'm the only one stuck at the part were you have to keep this marker centered? To not get scared. Like grinding balance in Tony Hawk Pro Skater Been trying it on and off now for years and can't get past, about 60% into the game.
Ah yes, the scene I briefly showed in the review’s outro. I didn’t find that too challenging, but also love the THPS games, so I’ve got that balancing mechanic down pat lol. It’s all about easily hitting the analog stick back and forth without countering the metering too long. Hope you’re able to pass it one day! Thanks for checking out the review!

I really love this game and the people who hate it tend to be really annoying because they just look for excuses to say it's a bad game because they don't think it should have been a Star Fox game

I do agree with you that the best era of rare is definitely the nintendo sixty four era As for me my favorite games in that era Are Banjo Kazooie Donkey kong sixty four Golden eye 007 I have played, but I have not beaten it yet. But that one is just Excellent plus it helped revolutionize the first person shooter Genre. That's the era of rare I will remember.

Excellent and very detailed review!!! I'm a huge fan of action-adventure games that adopt in-game mechanics from the The Legend of Zelda franchise. The fact that Rare and Nintendo courageously departed from the traditional Star Fox format should be enough for people to buy and play this game. It deserves so much more praise than what it gets and is definitely a GameCube grail imo.
There are no traditional Star Fox games bro. Before Adventures it only had 1 game which was Lylat Wars. The war is over

Excellent review! I remember not beating this game when I was younger because it got lost or something so I bought it a few years ago closed in box and beat it. It's a really good game but I do wish it was longer and you're right to say the "second to final boss" was not as expected after all that happened in the story.
I do agree that this game has more positives than negatives but one small negative I can name is that sometimes the sound/music and voice acting was not balanced in that the voices would be hard to hear in some areas or scenes. I do like how they used the C-stick and overall user interface, one of the best in the GameCube for this type of game.

I agree with your review. Star Fox Adventures is very much an underrated gem that got an unfair shake from the Star Fox community for being different from past games in the series. I am however surprised to see that you didn't mention the force-field that can be generated at any time, while using the staff, to block attacks and prevent yourself from receiving damage. Using the Right Trigger on the controller activates the field. Would have been nice to see that feature showcased.

Bcuz unfortunately those fans are lame. Star Fox had 1 game before Adventures which was Lylat Wars. Fox ended the war and went back to his roots. Taking jobs for money
@thegreatestever913 I'm in the United States. Here and in Japan, the prequal to Star Fox Adventures is called Star Fox 64. I do want to point out that if "taking jobs for money" is considered Fox's roots, then he never left those roots as durring the conflict in Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars, he was still doing a job for money as corneria hired them to take care of Andross. However, I do agree with you that the fans that hated Star Fox Adventures are lame. lol
@@Stealthbat although that's technically true my rebuttal to that is Fox was fighting in a war during the 64. He doesn't wanna be in the army which is why he rejected the offer. In the 1993 comic Fox was actually on foot and helped out the community while fighting bad guys and taking small jobs as a Mercenary. Star Fox Adventures went back to that
@@Stealthbat if u haven't read the comic I highly recommend it same with Farewell Beloved Falco. In the Farewell comic it shows what happened right before Adventures showing Fox on foot again as well fighting with Katt Monroe. Star Fox is Dope and I'd like more foot missions 💯, Nintendo was supposed to release an on foot action and adventure before collabing with Rare on Adventures but never did it. Curious to know how that would've been

Star Fox 64 is still my favorite in the series too, but Star Fox Adventures is right up there with it for me. Star Fox Assault I want to revisit, complete and review on the channel one day. Nice review! I've never played but by looking at the gameplay, the graphics looks good! I understand why fans of the series were not too happy about it since they wanted a spaceship shooting game but it doesn't mean that this game is bad! Now would I pick it up? Not really as I'm not a platforming fan but it's the kind of game that I would have rented back in the day to try it out. Great video and keep up the good work!

I would say my least favorite game from the n sixty four era is Conquer's bad fur day To me, the jokes are just not that funny. But I do agree that the graphics are really, really good. They still hold up to this day and I do like the overall abundance of movie References But at the same time the jokes do not hold up well for me. But I do respect other people's opinion. Who really do like that game to me I go with Banjo Kazooie. Banjo kazooie Will always be my favorite of the rare games.
Oh man, I LOVED Conker's Bad Fur Day! I thought it was hilarious, and a super ambitious game for the N64.

Just played this game recently and it was better than I expected since Star Fox 64 was only one I'm familiar with and looking finishing the game from someone who never owned a GameCube as a kid.
Might be one of my favorite GameCube games!

I replayed this one a couple years ago, and although there were some parts where I got bored with the gameplay (it's not quite as engaging as Zelda), I still love everything else about it. It oozes that signature charm of Rare in their heyday, from the characters to the environments to the David Wise soundtrack.

I mean, facts are facts. It’s clearly heavily inspired by Ocarina of Time, and even the developers have stated this. That’s not a negative aspect either, as it’s literally Rare infusing their own take on the formula of one of the greatest games of all-time. Star Fox Adventures plays similar to something like Ocarina of Time, but sets its own identity as well.

Naturally they're going to be similar just like Donkey Kong and Mario but nobody calls DK "a mario clone" ik u don't mean it in a bad way but it comes off disrespectful to Adventures calling it "a Zelda clone" it makes it seem like it's not it's own game even tho it's very different despite certain controls being similar/the same

I agree, it's not really like Zelda. It's just got a few similarities, like the auto-jump & action button but that's about it. Plus, half the game was scrapped. The original concept was switching between Saber (Fox) & Krystal to complete dungeons, but after Shiggy took over he made them butcher that part of the game in favor of keeping Fox in the spotlight. Shig was always spitefully jealous of Rare, back then.

Fun Fact This game was developed by rare the same developers who Did absolute classics games like banjo Kazooie Donkey kong sixty four banjo tooie Golden eye 007 1 of the most revolutionary and best first person shooter games of all time Diddy Kong racing Just classic games and they also did a couple of underrated games as well too.

There are two really good things about this game: the graphics and the OST. All the rest is boring and forgettable.
i tried this game several times.. there`s a boss i could never defeat. like a green dragon with a long neckin circular arena. i think it is stll early on in game. i looked up solution, but never got lucky. never tried it again for several years
