Wario World is legit one of the most underrated games on the GameCube, and it's probably my favorite Wario game in general due to how boldly it shakes up the series' formula. It's a game that Nintendo rarely ever acknowledges, and I do wish it would get either rereleased or remastered so that newer generations of gamers can enjoy this hidden gem. Also, Charles Martinet was at the top of his game voicing Wario here!
It really is! It definitely does a great job of changing up the formula, while feeling like Wario. Nintendo truly should have this game remastered for Switch. Charles Martinet really did an amazing job as Wario here. Thanks for checking out the review man!
I just came across this video. How did I not know about there being a Wario 3D platformer?!? My mind has been blown. Thanks for the overview, it's done well!
wario world was actually one of my first games ever. my cousin gave me gamecube as a kid along with wario world, wind waker, luigi mansion, and mario sunshine, anddd melee. basically, the greatest starting games i could ever ask for in a million years. i often think of who i would have grown up to be had i not experienced the masterpiece that was the gamecube.
So happy to see people talking about this game more. For the longest time I seen no one give it a good dive but in the last year or so I been seeing videos like this giving it love. The speed running of this game is great too.
Such a shame a fantastic game like this was overlooked by many. But Treasure truly delivered on all fronts with this one and it's certainly one of my favorites on the system. Still remember the commercial for this with the whole "Greed is good campaign." Another great review Marcello, I need to go back and replay this gem!
It really is a shame many overlooked this one back then. Treasure really did their thing where they thought outside the box with their gameplay in certain aspects. I forgot about that commercial! Glad you enjoyed the review man!!
Moral of the story is that Nintendo even after Mario , yoshi , Kirby peach still would benefit if brings this up on a forgotten land style maybe add co op with waluigi and game set . Thank you for this review one of my GameCube faves bought it a month ago again
That would easily be the best way to bring this back! I would love to see a sequel in the vein of Kirby and the Forgotten Land with co-op featuring Waluigi. Glad you enjoyed the review, and appreciate you checking it out!
Glad to hear you have memories playing this one during your childhood! The combat is definitely fun, and his quotes are awesome. The pause menu song…lmao! Thanks for checking out the review!
Great video! Wario World is such a unique and charming game that I always liked. It’s a pure example of the GameCube era that has a completely different take on a series formula. Would love to see this game get a second chance on the Switch or newest console someday!
Thank you man! Couldn’t agree more about your statement here! I really do think if this was remastered on Switch, and/or a sequel was made, it would fare MUCH better sales wise. Thanks for checking out the review, and glad you enjoyed it!
Yet another fantastic review! I've probably said it before but you are one of the few people on youtube who has the perfect blend of passion, knowledge, experience of the games you're reviewing and I appreciate your genuine, honest views on games which is becoming more and more of a rarity on this platform these days. Keep up the fantastic work! Also, congrats on 10k subs! I know you're just under but it looks like you'll be hitting it before I comment on your next video:)
I’m beyond humbled at the awesome words and high praise on the content man! Truly means more than you know! 🙏🏻 I always appreciate your support, and the early congrats on 10K!! Thank you again for checking out the review!
I have started and restarted this game 4 or 5 times in the last 2 years but never finished it. I have no idea why either lol. It’s really good. Just seems like I always jump to something else. Maybe I’ll complete it sometime soon. Great review, man. Hope you’re doing well!
Haha funny enough, I did the same years ago when I first got it. This time, I was determined to finish it and review it. So glad I did cause I had a blast with it overall! Definitely give it another try one day 👍. Glad you enjoyed the review man, and hope you’re doing well also!
Thanks for showing this game some love. This was my one of my top GC games as a kid. The Wario series as a whole is just behind Kirby as my favorite nintendo IP.
Sure thing! This has been one I’ve wanted to review for some time. It really is such a great game (and hidden gem) for the GC. That’s awesome it’s one of your favorite GC games and series! Thanks for checking out the review!
Nintendo really needs to remember that Wario exists so they can make another game focusing on him just like they did with Princess Peach just recently.
Although this game is short when I first played it, I still enjoyed playing it multiple times even though I had already 100% it because I never got bored of doing the same thing in this game.
Couldn't agree more! It's a shame this game wasn't more popular, as it's a blast to play! Hoping we'll see a sequel one day. Thanks for checking out the review man!
Ugh, the puzzle mechanics when the you were climbing the block tower reminded me of Fez and then shortly after there was a big square when you carved out another block and that part reminded me of Catherine. That’s cool that there are different endings for this game based on how many spirits you rescue. Ahhh the GB SP… my favorite game boy of all time. So cool when they connect the handhelds to the consoles in games. That’s cool that the same enemies change appearance based on setting. Gotta love a good boss battle! Awesome to see such unique ones. I don’t have this in my collection but man do I need it!! Awesome review GCG
Haha I forgot about that game Fez. The block puzzle is NOWHERE as brutal as Catherine...but still challenging lol. Yeah, the different endings based on how many Spritelings you collect is a neat aspect, and gives some replay value I suppose. Heck yeah man! The GBA SP is a FANTASTIC handheld! I loved the connectivity with the GameCube...and there will much more to state on that in the near future! The boss battles are one of the game's biggest highlights for me. Definitely add this one to your collection one day man! You'd really enjoy it! Thanks for checking out the review man!
I remember 100% Warrior World as a kid it was grand, I almost never 100% games, also the bosses were really fun, extremely easy but that doesn’t matter when visually there are blast to fight.
That’s awesome! Yeah, this game is just a lot of fun to play, and stick with to 100%. The bosses are a blast, and like you said, visually stunning! Thanks for checking out the review!
It really is so satisfying to do! I mean, really, what other game can you piledrive dinosaurs? 🤣 I wish this would get a sequel as well! Thanks for checking out the review, and glad you enjoyed it!
I think Wario World was the first game that I ever played on the GameCube actually. lots of fond memories with this one, and a really great progression from the wario land series. I wish we had more.
Oh wow, that's awesome! I agree that it was a great progression from the Wario Land series. I'm hoping one day we can see a follow up to this. Thanks for checking out the review man!!
I hope Nintendo drops a remaster for this at some point to test the waters for a sequel. Another 3D Wario game using a similar engine to Odyssey sounds like a blast
I couldn’t agree more! Here’s hoping Nintendo either remasters this, or finally has another 3D Wario game come to fruition. Thanks for checking out the review!
I wish nintendo would reference this game more, the best I can think of is his stadium in mario superstar baseball being based off the pecan sands level
Same here! That’s true about the stadium in MSB being based on the Pecan Sands level, I forgot about that. Seriously though, Nintendo needs to have this remastered for Switch. Thanks for checking out the review!
Thank you for sharing about the origins of Wario on Super Mario Land 2. Excellent review! Even though Wario World gets criticism for being short, it does provide a very unique experience in its own way that is different than the 3D Mario games. Wario's melee moves are unmatched! Nintendo definitely needs to make a sequel with mini games included. All that we have been getting is Wario Ware games 😂.
Glad you appreciate that brief origin! Wario World really does provide a unique experience, and needs more recognition. As quirky and fun as the WarioWare games are, I’d FAR prefer a new game similar to this style for Wario. Thanks for checking out the review man!
That’s high praise! I used to watch a ton of their content many years ago, so I am beyond humbled at that compliment! Thanks for checking out the review!
Thank you man! It really does deserve more recognition! I think if Nintendo remastered this for Switch (or its successor console), it would fare MUCH better. Glad you enjoyed the review!
wario world has always been my 2nd favorite gamcube game, next after thousand year door ofcause. for 3rd i always have trouble deciding between doube dash mario sunshine, pikmin 1 and luigis mansion
Wario World just came out at the wrong time. It combines brawling with 3D platforming, two things that were mostly on their way out in 2003. Imagine if this came out for Switch? The meme material alone would sell the game. lol I had a great time playing, and I completely agree about the length. I was ready for it to end when it ended, and I think part of that is the lack of progression in move set. As far as I can tell, you get all of Wario's moves at the start of the game. Most platformers give you new moves or power ups to unlock. So, by the end, it felt like I was doing the same things over and over but in different environments. Still, the charm kept me playing. Wario telling his enemies to "Have a rotten day!" is one of my favorite lines in any video game.
It really did release at a time where the odds were stacked against it sadly. If it were on Switch now though, it’d sell like crazy lol. Yeah, I agree that the game lasted the right length since there were no new moves introduced overtime. The charm and overall gameplay loop fit really well for the game’s duration 👍. Thanks for checking out the review!
100% agreed man! I can't believe they've done nothing else in the 3D space for Wario! Thanks for checking out the review, and glad I could help bring back memories through this!
Such a underrated game. Was one of my favorites growing up. I think it gets unfairly bashed just cause it tried doing something different from the Wario Land games. I do agree with you that they could've added in a bit more to make the experience last a bit longer. I think treasure did a fine job with this game. Great video!
Definitely an underrated game, and one that deserves more attention. I never quite understood those who bashed it, as this was a perfect way to bring Wario into the 3D platforming space. Thanks for checking out the review!
Wario World is one of those GameCube games in my backlog I’ve been a bit scared of. I’ve heard the negatives really hurt it, but I really want to play it one of these days. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is the other, for its difficult.
Oh dude, definitely play it! I really enjoyed my time with it, and is the right game length as well! Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is one I want to play too, as I never played it yet. Thanks for checking out the review man!
Nice review! This game looks great visually but is not one that I would play, unfortunately! At least you won't make me spend money for once, lol! Is it really a hidden gem, though? He had previous games in the series, so I'm not sure if a game that didn't sell well for a known franchise isn't just a game that failed commercially! I'm just asking genuinely as I think it's something that would be good to discuss about! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks, Dan! That’s fair man! It’s definitely a hidden gem, as most of his games that are well known are either the Wario Land games, and the Wario Ware games. This being his first (and sadly, only) 3D platformer that many missed out on, definitely deems it a hidden gem 👍. Glad you enjoyed the review!!
we need a new wario world! or we can to a walauigi land! or something like that. have wario and walauigi become the heroes, make it so mario and luigi are kidnapped or busy or simply not there and while wario and walauigi are greedy and maybe start out doing minor evil deeds, htye have to band together put aside their greed to save the day. id like that
I would buy that day 1. Add in optional co-op play, and you’ve got an awesome idea for a Wario World sequel, while adding Waluigi to finally be playable in a 3D platformer. Great idea! Thanks for checking out the review!
It's entertaining, but I would rather have the special transformations and unique behaviors from the Game Boy games translated. Might've been too expensive, but still... 🐍💭
That's fair! I still love Wario Land 2&3, easily some of my favorite Game Boy games. I did like that they tried something a bit different here. Had they done a sequel, it would've been cool to see the transformations incorporated into the gameplay, as one of the boss fights here kind of shows that element slightly. Thanks for checking out the review!
What I wouldn't give for either a remake of this game or a sequel on Nintendo Switch or it's successor. Or at least a new Wario Land game. I love WarioWare, but there's something you get out of the Wario Land series and Wario World that you don't see that often in WarioWare, and that's Wario being an actual badass. He's a goofball and the butt of jokes even in these games, but that won't stop him from plowing through monsters to get what he wants, and I think that's cool! I know I'm not the only one who misses this aspect of Wario.
Agreed 100%! As fun as the WarioWare games are, those are theoretically spin-offs, and I wish Nintendo would give those a break and bring back the Wario Land/World series! He’s a brute for sure, and this game nailed it! I’m right there with you man, you’re not the only one who misses this aspect. Thanks for checking out the review!
It's a decent curiosity, I just always wished it was priced as a curiosity, $50 back in the day felt too high for the amount of content and lack of replayability.
I mean, I’ve definitely played shorter games that costed $50, and I completely hear your perspective. After all, back then I missed out on this cause I wasn’t sure if it was worth the price when I was a teenager playing more content-filled experiences. Upon playing it now and beating it, I wish I played this back then. Thanks for checking out the review!
@@GameCubeGalaxy I mean saying from the time I would have been young teen without my own funds so game buying was limited, that does raise my ire at games with no length because I had a lot fewer things to play. Nowadays I have too much... so it bothers me less.
I do too, maybe an additional level in each world. That being said, still a great game that never overstays its welcome 👍. Thanks for checking out the review!
The first WarioLand was awesome for sure! I did really enjoy the sequel despite how different the direction was. Interesting to hear you didn’t like this version, but completely respect your opinion! Thanks for checking out the review!
I loved the Wario games on the Gameboy but the gamera in this game suuuuucks for me, fov is shit and you cant even turn the camera with the second analog stick, plus no widescreen natively, which even F-Zero GX had, Sega does what Nintendont

when you say wario game do you then mean platformers (wario land games) or everything including wario ware games?
@@jonas7417 I was referring to the platformers, as the majority of Wario games lately are only WarioWare games lol.
wario games are very fun! I remember playing the one on gameboy color

I wish this was on switch
You and me both! I feel many would actually experience this game if re-released today for Switch 👍.
Can this game PLEASE get a fucking sequel
One can only hope! Thanks for checking out the review!
The Black Jewel had a much better battle in the Japanese version. In the American version it's a pretty one note fight for a final boss.
Oh wow, I didn't know the fight was different in the Japanese version! Thanks for that fun fact, and for checking out the review!
this game deserves a remake!!
Even a remaster at this point!
I just wish this game was a little longer.
I do too, maybe an additional level in each world. That being said, still a great game that never overstays its welcome 👍. Thanks for checking out the review!
Random and unrelated, but can you review Gauntlet Dark Legacy?
First WarioLand on GameBoy is freaking amazing.
I was very disapointed by the sequel. Could not stand GameCube -version either.
The first WarioLand was awesome for sure! I did really enjoy the sequel despite how different the direction was. Interesting to hear you didn’t like this version, but completely respect your opinion! Thanks for checking out the review!
It’s a Me Wario
Lol! Thanks for checking out the review!

I loved the Wario games on the Gameboy but the gamera in this game suuuuucks for me, fov is shit and you cant even turn the camera with the second analog stick, plus no widescreen natively, which even F-Zero GX had, Sega does what Nintendont
It’s a bad game , I paid full price for this sh!t back in 2003
