I love vintage yachts. And this one covers ALL the bases for me. You talk about a perfect liveaboard , WOW! As usual, thanks for the lovely tour, Grieg!!! ✌️🏳️🌈✌️
Mint condition? Lol it's got laminate flooring, the woodwork is a mess, not to mention the old electronics. This isn't an example of good vintage either. It's just an old worn out looking boat. They didn't even bother to clean it all up to make a video. I wouldn't pay more than 30,000 for this.
@ThomasKuhar On the contrary, I'm the proud owner of a 1980s Hatteras. It was a lovingly cared for fresh water boat. We paid less than 40,000. It still needed much loving care (meaning hard labor and ample cash). We love our boat and feel it is/was worth every penny (to us). Our younger kids and now grandkids have been cruising around the Great Lakes/Mississippi River for the last 6 years . That being said, it was priced well. Boat prices are CRAZY high now. This boat wasn't 100,000 when it was brand spanking new. There are lots of signs of neglect. If there is superficial neglect, I can guarantee it goes deeper. People need to understand how to assess a boat (and i hope to God they hire a competent boat inspector) who can explain how much work a boat of this vintage requires and how much it is REALLY worth. I can guarantee that if someone paid the asking price for this boat, they are going to spend much time on the hard, and if they ever sell, it are going to lose ALOT of money in the process. I stand by my comment. If you can't do basic housekeeping for a video or you used cheap materials, even for cosmetic changes such as the interior floors, you didn't upkeep the motors, electronics, fittings, fiberglass etc. I'd be willing to bet it has leaks in several areas now.
Hi Garnock Reviews, This is a nice classic this Huckins Offshore 58 and it looks still very nice for his age wow with 3 cabins below all there own head a spacious lounge but the pilot house is masive for a boat out of that time and still is great what a show ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A nice and charming older Lady. Needs a little bit of TLC but it looks a little bit like a time capsule. Very nice vessel and thank you for the informative walk through.
Glad you enjoyed it. I love getting on boats of all shapes, sizes, designs, and age. My next video is a 7m brand new center console. Never know what's coming up 😎
Very nice for a 50 year old boat! Some cosmetic upgrades needed, but assuming all of the existing systems work properly, the only FUNCTIONAL upgrade I'd want to do is a folding radar arch to replace the rear support of the flybridge Bimini. Unfortunately, my numbers came in a few zeroes short on Fridays MegaMillions draw LOL
When I lived in Scotland, you could play the National Lottery on direct deposit. The money automatically came out your account and renewed your ticket for you. If you won anything, it would send the money straight into your bank account. I would occasionally get an email saying congratulations, you won the lottery!......only to find it was £10 and not £10m 😫🤣
Enjoyed the tour. Needs a good decorator and looks like painting. Not sure I would trust it around sea but would be a fun liva board but for about half the price. 11:19
Huckins were one of the first brokers I worked with when I started my channel. I love getting back onboard and checking them out when I can. I'm still not used to 60ft heavy boats having a cruising speed over 20 knots! In Scotland, it was rare to see boats like this hit 20 knots max let alone cruise!
Thank you! I've seen far more classics over here than I ever saw in the UK. You could ship it to Europe but for a boat of this size and weight, I'm sure it would cost a lot to do 😬
My wife and I are looking for something to retire on. Sell our house and use the money to pay for the boat and live in it. We are good at plumbing, tile, concrete, carpentry, electrical, pre-1990’s auto engine repair and lots of other stuff. We are looking for something that is safe for traveling calm waters. We grew up on the Texas coast and are used to hurricanes. We love physical work but we are both over 60. We have very little boating experience other than occasionally renting small sailboats. For a few months at a time, we have owned and lived in a few motorhomes and travel trailers that needed constant repair. Would this be a good boat for us?
This would be perfect for you. At face value, I didn't see any work needed that you couldn't repair yourself at some point by the sounds of it. As to handling the boat, this one has both bow and stern thrusters, as well as being twin screw. You could spin this boat till you were dizzy if you wanted to 😆
Hey Brian, as far as I know, this one is still for sale. If you shoot me your contact details to Boats@GarnockReviews.com, I can have the broker reach out directly
Not going to lie, finance and insurance gets tougher as boats get older. However, you have specialists that can help source finance and insurance in a similar way you have with classic cars. This particular one is being sold through Huckins and I'm sure they have contacts on hand to help secure any resources you require 😉
@@GarnockReviews Thank you for the fast response and a comprehensive answer. I’m considering retiring on a yacht and I just don’t want to put all my cash upfront if I don’t have to. I’ll take your information and use it to do some research. Again, thank you
I appreciate the continued support. The good news is, this one appears to be structurally and mechanically sound. It went on a recent burst on the river to get photoshoot for the listing with no issues or signs of smoke etc. In the perfect world, the work I would focus on if it were my boat, is more cosmetic focused. The fact it's for sale through Huckins is perfect as they can help with any and all work required, and know the ins and outs of every design aspect from bow to stern 😉
Yes - as long as that hull is sound and systems fettled, that entire interior could be gone through as time permits. I would suggest to them they invest a day or two repainting those engines. Nothing like gleaming power plants to inspire confidence no matter the vintage.
Whoever told you that floor is water proof that's a lie it's garbage pergo .life proof is the only laminate water proof shit made nice try that boat is a tirdits nasty needs so much update .electronics are old like me .#one rod holder 😂😂😂😂 yea fishing boat not.where is the real satellite phone not a beacon 😂
@@GarnockReviews I would think in the range of $50,000USD but really it just comes across as not well maintained., which I find a turnoff for me. As you say it is sound so just cosmetic stuff, anyways always enjoy your reviews Thanks
It's about $70K overpriced. And that's being nice. You can pick up a mint condition late 90's boats in this size with far more amenities for sub $100K.
I saw this boat at st Augustine marina last month its in mint condition and beautiful
I graduated High School when this yacht was built😁 Nice yacht with some cosmetic work would make a great cruiser.
The boats older than me, but has more potential than I do 😆

Garnock, you did this boat proud with the video tour. Grand olde Dames deserve some respect, too.
Thanks Jack! I don't want to only focus on the latest and greatest. I'm all for showing virtually anything that floats, regardless of size or value 😉

Bloody hell G! I got dizzy and fell off the fly bridge, straight into the deep blue. What happened up there? Were you in a hurry or what?
Not a single mention of the hull’s condition? I think I can actually here the sound of $$ being dropped down the proverbial tube on this one.
Thank you for great content!
Anyway of getting this kind of boat across the ”pond”?
Seems all the classics is in the US

Boat values are tanking bigly
Same thing I'm seeing.
Another thing to consider on a boat this age, is getting even just liability insurance is gonna be tough.
Yes they are. Some are dropping very dramatically
With all the fresh paint on the interior makes me think????
The boat is still being used and enjoyed while up for sale. That's also why not all the personal belongings have been removed.
I'd like to purchase it

He said the Cat diesels only have 1900 hours on them. If they were properly maintained, they should have a lot more life left in them.
I agree 100%. Having open access to the engines make servicing far easier and cheaper too 😉

Perhaps you’d like to see over her.

Yeah, but then you have a 90’s boat that every other Tom, Dick and Harry owns. If you want to be average, for sure, don’t buy this boat.
@ScottRosasco id rather be average than the biggest loser, which you would be buying this pile of garbage.
