Oh my - at 78, this boat is 20 years my younger. I was just beginning my first "tour" in the fight for my life jungles of Vietnam. I so wish I was in such good condition. As the old comedian said - "If I knew I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself, but had far less fun!". Thanks, Nick and everyone involved with this amazing yacht.
Wish I could look as good as her at 59 years old. What a fabulous master cabin. A cruising boat for lazy, hazy cruising day. No rushing no racing she is a Gentleman cruiser. Classical boat..
Absolutely wonderful!!! ❤❤❤ I often feel that more modern yachts are like floating caravans. Not so with this beauty!!! What a fantastic throwback to simpler times!!! ❤❤❤
It speaks volumes that for the first time in a while I didn't know the layout. Watching your videos has meant I can work out a layout of a boat quite easily normally, not so with the beautiful example. An absolute delight. 😊
My goodness what a beauty built in Scotland the very same year I was born . Ageing somewhat more gracefully than I , massive Swallows and Amazons vibes indeed . Nick thank you from the very bottom of my cockles for gifting us the pleasure of seeing her I am all of a swoon simply beautiful ole gal .
Thanks so much for this, Nick! As one who spent many hours of his youth sanding varnish on a 1964 Trumpy, I can appreciate the quality of the brightwork on this one.
Those acres of perfectly finished brightwork sent me down memory lane too, to idyllic summers messing about with classic beauties such as this. What a treat this video was, many thanks to Nick!
The term "Classic" is bandied about these days too much BUT this yacht is truly a Classic in all senses of the word, just wonderful. Thanks for the tour Nick!
The brand-spanking-new boats (including slightly older but refurbished) are great and all, but this one boat has more character than 98% of all else we've seen on this channel. Thanks for sharing this one, and here's hoping to see many more!
Stunning!!! Character/Charm in abundance - my cup of tea indeed!!! Cheers Nick, thanks for uploading something a little more classic for your more distinguished (old) followers.
Nick, absolutely fabulous gentleman's yacht, those were the days. It's worth every penny of the upkeep costs too. Now let's hope my lottery ticket comes up trumps, if it does I'm at Camper&Nicholls door step on Wednesday morning and you would have a first cruise aboard. Cheers DougT
What a beautiful vessel! It feels like a museum but it's still very much in use! Also again something completely different! Really fun impressions of this!
Now that is what I call a “proper” yacht! None of the plastic soulless things that you normally show. The modern yachts are fine and well but they have lost that boat feel that this exudes. Most of them are just floating apartments, they are NOT boats, ships, yachts. This is as they should be. Brilliant!
I remember the Silver yard. They were still building them when I was a boy. There were two yards next to each other at the enterence to the Gareloch, now home to the UK atomic submarine fleet. 11:00 Back them the Clyde had many yards building sailing yachts. They have all gone. This would have been one of the larger Silver yachts. Even back then they were thought to be special. How life has changed, I sail a soulless Beneteau on the South Coast and the Med.
Spot on! I lived not far from Silvers yard on the Gareloch and it was always a great occasion when their latest vessel was launched. I have been aboard quite a few of these beautiful creations, and my father bought a Sivers motoryacht which was built long before this Silver Cavalier and it has been renovated by a more recent owner and is sailing the seas today.
@Bob8091 - I love dreaming my way through their offerings too! I was very blessed to have spent time aboard some gorgeous classics in my youth, varnishing my way through college...
My god! Absolutely brilliant! That a crown's Jewell! My god that's really a piece of art! Definitely Nick you are improving day by day! Thanks a lot for sharing this stunning boat! ❤ Absolutely well done Nick!
What an absolutely beautiful boat. You just keep finding the most amazing boats to show us. 2 things really stand out, for me. First, the amazing amount of storage drawers in the owner's cabin, not so much hanging space, but I'd think leisure wear works folded in drawers. Second, beam of the boat matters. These older yachts aren't as wide, and you can certainly see how that matters in this design. Just more compact. I think I could happily live on this beauty.
That’s fantastic! I’m not the right person for a true yacht like that but can definitely see the grace and beauty of it. Thanks so much for sharing with us!
Outstanding! I think you could make an entire video on all the plaques and wall hangings. But the Louis Vuitton stole the show on this one! Many thanks for this one. ❤ 🍷
More like this! Nick, maybe we can get a series of older boats like this. It was a very fun tour and a great video. I'd love to see more of these older boats.
Some of these new yachts could take a page or two from this amazing classic. I really like the seating along three sides of the salon with the integrated dinning table and the long storage side bar along the opposite side of the salon. It's just so practical and as Nick would say; works so well. Can you imagine how much it would cost to re-create this gorgeous vessel? No particle board in this beauty. Thanks for bringing this outstanding example of marine perfection to our attention Nick.
I think like most of us who watch this great channel we all dream about a 40 to 50 ft motor yacht if our numbers came up, but this is one that you fall in love with, just beautiful in every detail
That’s what I like about your channel Nick, you’re just never sure what kind of thing might be next, just as long as it floats and takes you fancy. The variation spread is better than any other channel in my humble opinion. Please continue to surprise and delight.
Magnificent! I've actually tired of seeing some of the super yachts even though they have wonderful features, but this - WoW - this boat is just beautiful and so much my wheelhouse. Even though not of the Poirot era, it does have that feeling - a true gentleman's boat.
My deepest respect to the present and former owners of this beautiful boat. The care and dedication it takes to maintain a treasure like this cant be understated.
Hang on, Nick. Where’s the pop-up TV? 😂 Jokes aside, you have done it again. Lots of nostalgia with this little beauty. Starting to feel old now. I was seven when she was built. Looking a lot better than I am. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you. 👍
What! No mirror wave Nick. That was one beautiful classic boat. Love butterfly hatches and polished timbers on these classics. Thank you for bringing us this tour.
Thanks for this trip back in time, it definitely has character and the layout breaths I need to live in the tropics Great tour Nick A few more these on occasion would be nice
Wonderful tour Nick. I had found this yachts listing yesterday as I am looking for a classic motor yacht to cruise here in Asia. Since everything is close by, she would do nicely.
Now THIS is a boat after my own heart, truly a "class act". Thank you so much for the tour! Being a sailor though, I second the wish to see a tour of the yacht to her starboard, or, actually, any of those fabulous sailing yachts on display. I wasn't really aware that Camper & Nicholson had a brokerage? I know them from having lusted after their C&N 35 back in the early seventies (wound up with a Westsail).
Thank you Nick! I went down the interweb rabbit hole, and discovered the brokerage started as a fork off the original yacht building company, which grew from a shipyard established in 1782. Same genes, different generations, although the brokerage was sold off to new management in 1989. Still maintaining the same peerless standards 200 years later.
Love the old yachts with all the woodwork on them just that old time feeling I could see myself on this for a few weeks out in the med having martinis.
I used to live right next to Silvers Boatyard on the Gareloch. It was always interesting to walk through the yard to get to the beach and it was the best place to watch the wonderful sunsets. There was always something interesting to see and people to meet who were working on their yachts. It was lovely to see this boat. A real classic. This is the boat I would buy if I had the money. A proper boat unlike some of these modern monstrosities. Thank you for sharing your tour of her.
Possibly the best tour yet.So evocative of a bygone age oozing style. You can almost see Terry Thomas and Leslie Phillips greeting each other martinis in hand and pretty young ladies on their arms, I say rather. Thanks Nick a wonderful tour.
Thank you Nick what a start of this week great this James A Silver from 1966 a classic made out of wood a superyacht of her time i think and still in a super condition accomodation for 6 guest in great comfort but also her crew have there own spave the gentemens cruiser rare but beautiful⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Utterly enthralling and mesmerising Nick ... Thank You for the tour .. (Watching in 12C NE England where the rain is lashing the glass, and I need rotary wipers like the helm glass)
I am so glad that these old girls are still on display. It's something that your grandad would have loved. It is a wonder that they have survived after all these years.
Please forgive typo meant to say 'enough' rather than English although for once correct in both instances. Also noted old F1 racing photos - hint at owners!

But then I am a sucker for wood, and 1966 was a vintage year for many reasons - I only wish I had aged that well! Thank you so much for sharing and bringing such variety and class.
Nick this is amazing. Can we see more of classic boats? Often the new ones are similar they become boring. This has so much class and own personality. Thank you for doing this.
I used to own a 1937 Silver Motor Yacht and I have to say the design and fittings had not changed much at all in the 30 years between the two. Beautiful, makes me want mine back again.

Who was that comedian anyway? It's one of my favorite sayings nowadays, although I'm only seventy five ...
@@lapsedluddite3381 was it George Burns ?
The great Yankees slugger Mickey Mantle is supposed to have said something like this, in regard to his drinking and carousing during his career.

Quite simply put:- A real gentleman's motor-yacht. Thank you Nick, for a magnificent peek into a better world.

In my opinion, new boats can't compete with the character and warmth of the classics.
Absolutely wonderful!!! ❤❤❤

I get the sense that these old boats were more about enjoying your wealth rather than flaunting your wealth.
Flaunting was very frowned upon non-Gent YOU bought high quality and retained it

I’m in love with this boat! Character doesn’t begin to describe its attributes. It’s for old school relaxation and comfort.
From the days when we held a proper book to read!
"Gentlemanly cruise at 10 knots" -- love it! 😀
The term "Classic" is bandied about these days too much BUT this yacht is truly a Classic in all senses of the word, just wonderful. Thanks for the tour Nick!

Call me old fashioned but that's nicer than most of the modern boats you show. It's got soul, character and some wood.
The craftsmanship is top shelf. Whoever did the woodwork was an absolute master carpenter. Beautiful
I'm so glad you've done this one! There's not much content about Silver but they are beautiful boats and deserve more attention.
Glad you enjoyed it!

I don't know whether to give a thumbs up or not, we had a Silver's ketch back in the 1980's. Bloody mahogany was endless varnishing, lol

As you said, several times, lovely and it is a lovely vessel. Loved the creaking timbers as you walked around. They don't make them like this anymore.
This1.4 million yacht has 100 times the class of a new 100 million dollar yacht.
We used to visit Silvers yard for repairs to our RNLI lifeboat. They built some beautiful “pieces of wood” over the years.
What a classic beauty! You have to wonder if today's designs improve the sea-going experience.
