      Some of the highest quality content on youtube is hidden by the algorithm unfortunately.
      They have learned that basic attention doesnt require anything educational or high quality.
      Look at the success of tiktok and short style videos.
      Not many high quality 60 second videos...

      Edil Ardina Ok you just dont have to use the services.

    • @xavierjones6048
      @xavierjones6048 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is that people are going to use the services anyways. One person deciding not to won't stop anything. Google is an important creation, but it can really skew all the information people receive if they use marketable tactics, such as campaigning for president. If all information is skewed to market to us, then how will people discern truth from a market tactic designed to influence our decisions. It's kinda scary that huge monopolies like Google can control how people think. Of course they can't directly control us but they can influence our buying decisions or political stances. It's important to hold these companies accountable for all the information they collect from their customers, because if they become too powerful how will anyone know the truth? That is a hyperbole, but the point still stands. I value truth, but if the truth is too hard to search for, do you think you wouldnt go to Google or any other search engine?

    When I get a letter from the DMV threatening to cancel my registration unless I hurry up and buy insurance on my new car, I know their constantly sharing information and using it to squeeze people.

    Meanwhile in 2024 Temu advertises on the Super Bowl and this six year old video that comes up when searching “data harvesting” has only 30,000 views. We’ve already lost and not even aware of it.

  • @Gonz0131

    Most of the video completely side-steps what the title suggests. Argument is basically "trust the guys lookign to exploit your personal information, they will just innovate". Since when have markets and large corporations held real conscience and social responsibility? What a load of crap.
    Much more likely that big data companies will get lazy, leverage their greater knowledge to exploit greater profits. Just like any company that has greater market share.

    • @hannabanana7747
      @hannabanana7747 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, I came here looking for the information that the title suggests but.. This ain't it! I guess it's no surprise as the channel is Business Insider. If anyone has some documentaries they'd suggest on this subject, I'd appreciate it!

    Just get rid of the political power and anyone can copy the ideas to compete. Also there's more than just the scale effect. For example, if there was just the scale effect, the soviet union, an all encompassing monopoly, would outcompete the west, yet it doesn't primarily because of the economic calculation problem that gets exponentially worse with size.

    Not all companies need data from their consumers to innovate. Apple is an example which creates products without relying on the feedback from consumers.
