Quick tip. Stop using your real name on accounts that you use for things you'd rather not be connected to. Or just stop using your real name in general.
Good tip - Blue.
Stanley Hape endorses this message👍
Haven't used my real name or picture online, and I have been on here since 33.6k lol
Its plausible but not really practical since we have to use our real names in booking our flights, maintaining financial accounts and what not. The real problem today is that services across internet are integrated and so is our data.
nah i think i'll pass
There was that old internet etiquette we were taught back in 2000s about being careful on what you put out on the internet. Looks like nobody got the same topic back in school.
They stopped teaching it
20 years later and I have to send a picture of my identity card to fucking google to be able to watch 18+ content on TH-cam
I remember learning this in school, it made a big impression on me. Good thing because I was careful about what I posted, well until I was a teenager and stopped caring about anything and everything lol. Still never posted anything bad
Back in the Internet Wild West, you learned to trust nothing and no one.
Thankfully we learned from mostly innocuous stuff like Rick Rolls and jumpscare videos, and the classic refrain "pics or it didn't happen."
This was drilled into me at home, school, and church. Some websites, like Archive Of Our Own, will remind you when you access them. People need to remember this at all times.
"one day her boss came across these old pictures accidentally" yeah right, bet he straight up searched for them on purpose and went like "pfft i randomly found these"

@@asimanayak304 no it's not. Almost nobody else pretends they 'randomly' found old tweets, there is not much to be gained by saying that
Every time I watch a video like this, I regret having ever created my social media accounts. The internet memory is scary, and the data brokers scarier. It astounds me that private information, including contact details and residential addresses of the common public in the US is so easily available to absolutely anyone and everyone! No wonder stalking and killings are getting easier by the day! Very informative video and nicely presented, deserves way more than just the current 15k subscribers. Subscribed! Oh and you really do look and sound like Charlie Puth :D
Thank you for your support Arundhati! Great to have you on board. :)
Luckily for me, I live in India. The IP trace doesn't even get the city right, let alone the address LOL.
Ooooohh yess... its very easy to kill and stalk people now! More than ever before!
@@death_parade Google "my location". Google pinned my location spot on - but the address shown was wrong 😃
@@death_parade that's savagely awesome 😄.
After watching the movie "the social dilemma". I totally agree that privacy is a luxury in today's time. People who achieved fame know this better than those who are chasing it. And I'm glad that now your channel exists which can educate and help more people on this topic.
Thank you for the comment! This really goes well with that movie.
It's crazy how hard Facebook and other social media make it so hard to delete your accounts.. it's dystopian really
Yes sir, it is.
Just post truther content and they'll do the hard deleting work for you. They won't even ask for your consent to deletion. ^^
Which is why I never got on FAKEbook to begin with!!!

@@JudgeGideon823 it's 15.6k now 😂
@@JudgeGideon823 Here’s my reminder that I was here at 17.6k.
@@JudgeGideon823 Yeah, I expect it to climb to a 100k or so in maybe a month (maybe less) if the upload schedule stays frequent.
Even fake information put online by people that want to embarrass you or harm your reputation stays online forever unless YOU go and personally fight to get it removed. It can be harder than eliminating factual data, sometimes requiring a court order!
They don't remove anything. I deleted my Facebook years ago and they told me the same thing, 30 days and 90 days. I logged back into it like 8 years later and all my stuff was still there.
It's worse for kids nowadays too...
I can't remember who it is but there is a server company that stores Facebook data. You have to request removal through them
I feel like a posh, British 17-year-old in a suit with a concerned avuncular energy is not only far smarter than me when it comes to all internet related things, but is, well, frankly a little disappointed in my life choices... but still here to guide me. Thanks uncle-kid-dude. Subscribed.

Thats why this age is dedicated to Data Analysis.....
I was on Facebook when it was cool over a decade ago. I never used a lot of personal information and did not post pictures or mention my children. This Era was just the start of big data. I'm so glad that I jumped off social media. I refuse to be in anyone's photos bc once I do, that gets posted on the internet. When I do take photos, I'm never in them. I take photos of other things like nature, etc. The internet is forever.
For a person who's know so much about how our data can be and is used, aren't you worried that you are posting videos with your face and voice? I'm curious. 👁️👄👁️
I hope he replies to this.
Well, of course, to an extent. But I know that I'm helping people here and that's more important for me. Thank you for your comment and stay safe.
@skreul Rezan being truthful shouldn't be so damn triggering. Just move on with your life.

Learning more about internet privacy is always time well spent. Glad this channel brings that subject to light. Keep it up! I'll be waiting for future videos!
This video demonstrates how careful you have to be when posting anything. It can catch up with you.
Thank god I've never used actual names in any of my degenerate and funny times, deleted myself a decade ago from any actual online interaction between my actual self and the world, probably one of the only good things that came from my anxiety.
This kid is great!! I'm too old to have that much of a footprint but I am sure that all my snarky comments and channels and stories I love can easily paint a picture of me. Keep up the great work and I too believe this will become a very popular channel.

Till now the best video on TH-cam I have ever seen.
The way u professionally narrated the whole topic was exceptional
That's really kind of you. Cheers.
Just watched (and commented on) How to Disappear, and now this. You're channel's a real find although I'm daunted by just how much data they have on us out there, how far back it goes, and how difficult it is to extricate yourself. Still, for videos of kittens playing the piano, personal privacy is a small price to pay! Looking forward to more of your stuff.
This channel is going to blow up. Love everything about this
Thank you for your support!
I watched almost all of your videos. I hope you will keep growing
Love your channel man. The subs don't do justice to your content. Certainly deserves millions, mate.
Thank you bro! 👍

Keep It Up!
Thanks Sujal! 😃
It’s alright.
Yes
OMG, the production quality! I've never subbed to a channel faster before!
Deval, thank you. We appreciate you.
I remember someone “visiting” our school by calling us on teams. They were telling us how to be safe on the internet and one of the things they said was that something on the internet can never be completely gone (I forget their exact wording but I remember them saying complete privacy was a myth).
I think it was something along the lines of “deleted is a myth”
Well, I suppose that they've got a point. Difficult, if not impossible in some instances.
Another serendipitous find on TH-cam. Very well made, from the script , editing and production.
Greetings from The Philippines.

Just found out this video through TH-cam recommendations. Already subbed and liked the video. Looking forward to more these kind of contents.

I'm happy I stumbled on this channel. It's really good
I used a Twitter extension to comb through some of my old Twitter activity from when I was 13, and it felt magical. It manually went through and deleted every like, comment, Tweet, and retweet. It did it in such a way that it emulated a person doing it, making it faster to remove that data from the network than a deletion request.
Watching this at 3am and thinking when I'll need to do this
Unless you're "most wanted" and involved in something serious, then it is still worth deleting all your social media accounts. It's time consuming and expensive for law enforcement to do deep online searches for people and in many cases I've seen police just search for someone as any of us would. If you're not that big of a criminal or simply want to disappear, then remember how many millions of others will have the attention of authoritarians-you'll soon be forgotten.
i was here when this channel had less than a million subscribers . You guys deserve a million subscribers.. because more people needs to see this
That's why you shouldn't do bad things on the internet. Infact you should also avoid doing bad things in your computer and smartphone. Because they collect your data.
Define a 'bad thing', Jose ;)
Linux does no collect your data.
Supporting the wrong political party is now considered a "bad thing".
This channel is gold, I was here before it blew up :)!

Amazing content...one we never thought we needed 👌🏽💯 New sub from East Africa Kenya

Thank you 🙏🏻
For me privacy and confidentaility are more important than free speech unless the information being shared is important for the general public or related to a crime. In those cases publishing factual information would supercede privacy.
But the fact that people can just buy your information without your knowledge or consent is super disturbing. There needs to be way more transparency and regulation around collecting and monetizing people's data
Not all crimes need to be broadcast on the internet especially if it happened a long time ago and is not relevant and especially if the case was dismissed and the criminal record expunged. The media should not have power to overrule judges and cancel people to start a slander campaign against them. People make mistakes and we need to forgive and allow growth.
@@earthmother4397 We can't overrule judges, but corrupt judges from the government shall not overrule our right to information.
I don't understand though why your search history and cookies and all that data which people want to remove because they're being sold, that's it. If you're an average person with an average life, what is it you're afraid of people finding out about you? Is your data even worth their profit or personal gain? Even the location bit, it's only approximate.
@@timarooq2278 It's about the fact that the government has to be open to the people but not the people to the government.
And it's none of the governments business that I'm criticizing them.
My mind is blown by your production quality like seriously this a S class content. The editing is just perfect!

Things change when you get older. Some things you care about change. Younger people won't understand, yet.
When young, you care a lot about what others think of you. When you get older, you care more about what you think about your life. And I didn't intend to become that grumpy old guy, but you get tired of stupid and you don't care who knows how you feel.
