there is an old birdhouse heath kirchart graphic from '96-'97ish with a cartoony silhouette of a guy with a shovel digging a grave. it is a page from a comic book "johnny the homicidal maniac" by jhonen vasquez, the guy who did invader zim. i actually have a tattoo of it on my shin. i always wondered if he did artwork for birdhouse, or if heath was a fan, or they just jacked it. i guess any/all of those could have played a part, but i'd like to know the answer. I always wanted those Blind boards back in the day. My current is a Tony Hawk Birdhouse "Chicken Skull" ripoff 'reissue'. I also have a Frankie Hill reissue as a cruiser.
I was selling skateboards in Australia in that transition from Powell to blind / World Industries and unboxing the new decks with those graphics that came through literally each week was an education in graphic design. Going from the slickness of Powell to the irreverency of the newer brands was like the changes in mainstream music of that time from Rock to hip hop. Also so many rip offs of other pop culture of the time with the Jason Lee Burger Deck.
Yeah we've got a few shops and more skateparks each year ! I'm in the south at Saint-Pierre and we have a big park that's been redone a few years ago. Pretty cool to be able to skate by the sea while watching whales or the sunset ngl@@ShredzShop

Loved the video man! \m/ Went skating today in Fort Sask, enjoying this wonderful fall weather! Current boards are a Falcon Birdhouse and a Globe Bantam mini cruiser.
I tuned in late but I got a recent one perhaps from 2 or 3 years ago. I think it’s a Jamie Foy deck with a black eye, I think that was a world industries deck from a while back.
My favorite cease and desisted board/logo is from my local, Infinity Skateshop in St. Louis. Their Paramount ripoff logo is forever burned in my head. White or silver board, black mountain and stars logo with “An Infinity Skateboarding Company” to seal the deal... the 7.75 popsicle w mellow concave is classic for my era coming up skating. The black on white logo shirts and little circle slaps were all over my town and the city too. Paramount Pictures hit them up with a lawsuit and cease and desist after their COMB video I believe. Still love the new shop decks and them paying homage to the movie industry just as much with the graphics.
I have a blind mickey pappa deck with a suspiciously similar skull and dagger Powell graphic tho the dagger is a rosary, not sure what the meaning behind it is but I love it all the same
I would steal a car, I would steal a handbag but stealing skate graphics that's just crossed the line, also levi, these graphics videos are the best keep them coming now
I think Chalmers was probably the pooerst selling board the first time around so Flip figured they wouldn't "waste" their money on his anniversary board. Which is lame; even if that's not what happened, that's the perception I have and probably what a lot of people have. I loved Chalmers' part. The Faction song, the insane Canadian flyouts, gnarly park footage before park footage really became illegal in video parts. He really stood out.
Yeah dude, I had a rising sun bandanna as a kid. I got it for Xmas one year. was late 80's, I think maybe early 1990's. I got a GNR one as well. I never knew people didn't like the Rising Sun though. I guess it probably gets more hate in the States.
It's not a copy but...My absolute favourite graphic (that I haven't been able to find again, so help me out!) is: 1993 or 1994 Made by Neighborhood Skateboards or PlanB or World Industries or The New Deal, or something like that era... My best recollection: Popsicle shape. The nose has a cartoonish sky that's blue, with the cartoon sun, and a couple of cartoon puffy clouds. Then the front truck. Then the main body of the graphic was a close up of a cartoon bunny rabbit (oriented vertically, if you rested the board against a wall on its tail). The cartoon rabbit is pictured facing you, with it's hind legs extended up past it ears toward the front truck, and it's front paws extended downward toward the back truck, and the rabbits paws are pulling the rabbits ears downward from its head past it's little white belly toward the back truck, and it has a really surprised look on its face, mouth agape and big eyes of terror. The white (maybe with some grey) rabbit is scrawny but takes up the entire body of the board between the trucks. Then the back truck, and the punchline on the tail of the deck... The tail had a cartoon graphic of a field in the distance far below, and a cartoon guy, small and in the distance in this field, making a kicking/punting motion, which is how the terrified cartoon rabbit got up to the middle of the board graphic. I think the cartoon guy punting had a red ball cap or something red in his clothing. Anyway, I thought that was hilarious and brilliant and it really hit me right in the funny (although I deplore violence against animals in real life), it just made me laugh every time I saw it when I went skating. And it was a 7.5" deck, so that thing came around FAST on kickflips. Anyway, I'd love to know what brand and whose pro deck that was. Wish I still had it, but had to get rid of it during a rough homeless stint. I've scoured the interwebs, which didn't really exist in a big way back then, searching several different times, for a few days at a time, and haven't found it. Any suggestions?
Hey I have been trying to hunt down the name of a set of trucks from the early 2000s. Its crazy I can't find them anywhere but had 2 sets as a teenager. They were slightly kinked in the middle. It would have been between 2000 and 2007 but its possible they came out a little earlier. I have been trying to figure this out for years now but no luck. Watching, skating and drawing here in Connecticut USA! As it turns out, Jeremy Klein's 'Dream Girl' graphic is somewhat a stolen graphic too. The character is actually from an obscure SNES game box art that I believe was a Japan only release.
My favorite was the doe doe bird Jayson Lee. I do however love most of the hawk spoofed or tribute graphics. I got a Thank You Deck recently that was a Duck instead of the Hawk. They made a Jeron Wilson deck and mine came autographed. I was a little torn because of the signature on it but To get the same shape on a birdhouse would have cost me $30 more. I ended up setting it up and skating it. Maybe in a couple months I will wish I hung it interested of skating it but right now in Southern California (El Centro) the weather just started to cool off and I am enjoying this board so much. We don't have a local skate shop just a couple mall shops. I did order it from a skate shop ironically named cal skate. It's Ironic because the shop is in Portland, OR. It's hopefully is supporting a local skate scene just not mine.
