Adio died when the housing/stock market crashed in 2008. K2 Corp laid everyone off and sold the Adio name to Payless Shoes in the next few years. Planet Earth Clothing also ceased to exist. A LOT of the companies in this video didn't survive that market crash because a lot of skate shops also went under.
I remember there being a store in my hometown called Planet Earth that sold og electronics, pinball machines, video games, instruments, and some clothes. I don't think they had anything to do with the Planet Earth skate company but they were open through the mid 80s to early 90s. It was a pretty epic store for its time.

Hook-Ups is still going, Jeremy Klein pretty much runs it by himself, also sells boards as JK Industries, Hook-Ups/JK Industries is pretty DIY and not mass produced, some of the boards Klein hand paints. It is cool he is still doing it. Not sure if still part of Birdhouse/Baker anymore though.
I loved Web Trucks, created by Mike Smith (I think is his first name), the creator of the Smith Grind, Web Trucks were designed specifically for Smith grinds.
Ipath is high end boutique. They have countless variations of the grasshopper in stores only the rich can set foot in. At least that was the case a few years back.
4Star was my absolute favorite clothing brand. The clothes fit like a glove. And their team was off the hook. You should of mention A-TEAM. They had an all star team.
kreper trucks were made by grindking, which has made a comeback recently with the disruptor truck. i haven't tried them yet, but i want to. grindking also make rocket bolts, which are basically like those randoms you mentioned. i think i'll pass on them though
Black label also made that kind of hardware, i dont know why is not widely adopted as the standard, you dont need a damn screwdriver or key. I regret not buying a bunch of those back in the day.
Hey thanks for the mention my name is Vaughn, I work for Donald over at Grind King. We are going to bring back Kreper in the near future. For now our disruptor is widely available
@@Dodgeram1500hd krepers were pretty goofy, i get they were aimed at kids. i think what made gk great was his willingness to try out-there ideas. if you were gonna make a reissue truck, the g5 highs are the one. i have an old pair on one of my setups now. and use gk kingpins on any other truck they will fit on.
What happened to Diakka watches? I had a Clyde Singleton model.. even Muska was on there. You can even find the Diakka logo on the walls of THPS2. I loved the idea that there was a premium watch brand specifically for skaters.

It's fascinating and sad how few skate companies have any longevity in the industry. So many brands I grew up with in the early 2000s died out by the time I was an adult. We've gotta imagine how many companies that are popular today aren't going to be around anymore in just five years' time.
Yes, and its equally sad how few local core skate shops have longevity as well. Here in NJ, if any core skate shop (large or small) sees 5 years, its a miracle. Don't blink, they're here today gone tomorrow.
Zorlac was my favorite decks back in the day. My favorite clothing back in the day was Fuct… I had like 15 of those pants in all kinds of colors and they lasted forever.
The only decks I skated back in the mid 90s to mid 2000s. Were ZERO and HOOK UPS and a few others like Baker Mystery and the only 2 truck brands I skated were Destructos and King pins Grip: Black magic, wheels: alien workshop 47mm yes tiny wheels, shortys or kingpin hardware and reds bearings
My cousin used to be sponsored by Ezekiel clothing and reef shoes. They were decent skate shoes back in the day, pretty sure they only make sandals now lol. Also juice clothing was the shit!

Boy this video made me feel old, I used to skateboard in the 70s and 80s and the only brand he mentioned that I even know was Makaha, I think I still have my Makaha board somewhere. It has ACS500 trucks with extensions. Back then we rode on 2 to 2.5in wide wheels. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
hey guy from the blank gen. he said z rollers and variflex and nash. i know about them from this older guy that used to skate with us here and there. he had a huge box of 70s skateboard mags. i sat there for like 2-3 hours smoking pot and looking through them all. i started at 11 in 85 so im a second generation skater. i still get out there at least twice a week at 49
Prime is still around, they manufacture and put limited version of old world industries decks. Believe its owned by Jeremy Klein or related in some way.
@Tyler Porter Oh man you are correct ... the Think website has not been updated since 2011, which is a bummer, because Think was a good company. Pat Duffy skated for them at one point before going back to the resurrected Plan B. Thanks for the correction
Loved the A1 meats video that had the whole nofx album as the soundtrack!!! Also found a 16 deck the other day!! God i love skating so much, this brought back sooo many great memories!!!
Kryptonics were late 70's era top end wheel, more for downhill and fast cruising though i remember people riding them on the first backyard 1/2 pipe i knew of. I had a Santa Cruz 7 ply (maple, i think) board, Tracker Trucks and red 70mm Kryptonics, in 1978. Big names from the Skateboarder Magazine era, pre Thrasher.
I picked skating back up after a few years, and when I went to get a new board, I was pretty devastated that Phantom 2s didn't exist anymore. I could never find another truck company that felt the way they did. I rode my original pair for 7 years.
Fun fact about SOAP Shoes they were advertised in Sonic Adventure 2 on the SEGA Dreamcast in 2001 there’s billboards, posters and of course our favorite blue dude is rocking some cool in-game red shoes
All the attempts to revive Zorlac have been a legal shit show. It's a shame. But a little bit of Zorlac blood still flows via John Gibson and Craig Johnson in Embassy Skateboards.
TSA , DUB Brand and Droors were my favorites the when I was in Junior high and High school . Everyone dressed baggy . 1997-2004 was one hell of a decade for skateboarding. This video brought back some serious nostalgia
I just bought my 2 year old daughter a brand new kid size 22"x5¾" Kryptonics board. Wonder if someone bought the company or if it's just a copycat company that came out after the original died..
Brand x is still around. Just not as mainstream and huge as the others but still around. As a matter fact they're opening a shop in Oceanside CA across from prince Memorial skatepark.
"Wrap it up!" hah! Man, this video gave me some nostalgic vibes. I remember seeing many of these brands' ads in some 411VM VHS tapes from the 90s. Good times. There was one brand of skate shoe I bought back in the day called Axion.. I think.. They were alright but i guess they just couldn't compete against the bigger brands. Always support local shops and good video Shredz!
I'd love for HAWK to come back. Those shoes were dope and they were a hell of a lot more affordable than a lot of the other shoes out there at the time.
I was on the Motobilt team and kryptonics back in 80’s… 1980’s and 90’s! Motobilt still around? Miss my boys from the old days: Guy Mariano, Gabe,… other guys from Pablo Diaz, Rudy etc, etc. My weekend homies and the old days of Rene’s Skate Shop. Good times in my life! Thanks for the video.
I'd love to know story of phantom trucks and why they died off. Phantom units were solid and phantom 2s were lighter and smooth to grind rails but weren't built as strong and would break sometimes between the bushings but they were cheap so replacing one wasn't bad on the rare occasion one would break. Love this channel and all the content about brands I used to skate back in the day!
Hey dude, just so you know, a lot of the old brands from the '70s and 80s you mentioned are still around such as G&s, kryptonics, brand x and powerflex. Alphanumeric was the shit!

Not sure if all these brands are gone but sure miss em 🥺
WebTrucks, Destructo, Destroyer, 101, Deca, Monkey, Vallely skateboards, Reflex bearings, New Deal, Black Label, 1984 Clothing, Think, A-team, Hook-ups, Speed Demons, Speed Metal, Quickies, Black Panthers, Revolution Wheels, C1 clothing, Mystery, ON video, Grind King
Deca
Grind kings was my shit
Hook-Ups is still going, Jeremy Klein pretty much runs it by himself, also sells boards as JK Industries, Hook-Ups/JK Industries is pretty DIY and not mass produced, some of the boards Klein hand paints. It is cool he is still doing it. Not sure if still part of Birdhouse/Baker anymore though.
I loved Web Trucks, created by Mike Smith (I think is his first name), the creator of the Smith Grind, Web Trucks were designed specifically for Smith grinds.
Platinum
I feel like Ipath would be a contender for a comeback. Feels like the youths would appreciate that style shoe.
The Rasta color ways always looked so fucking good
They were really sick. Stash pocket. I still have a pair of pants unused if everyone is interested.
Ipath is high end boutique. They have countless variations of the grasshopper in stores only the rich can set foot in. At least that was the case a few years back.
I was sponsor by Navigator truck back then. With rounded axel and camber wheel lol. A never broke that much axcel in my live
Hubba wheels brought me backkkkk i remember the ads in the back of thrasher, that shit blew my mind as a kid LMAO
This is actually 49 skate brands.G&S is still around believe it or not. In fact, I just recently bought a G&S Warp 2 Round Tail Complete online.
I stocked up when etnies “reissued” those sheep shoes a couple years back, still have a couple pairs that are skateable
I was 14 when they first came out. Bought a pair out of CCS.
4Star was my absolute favorite clothing brand. The clothes fit like a glove. And their team was off the hook.
You should of mention A-TEAM. They had an all star team.
Truth!
Forgot Prime skateboards!!! Was may favorite. And I had the Keeper trucks.
was surprised that I didn't hear Media Skateboards, but sick video, definitely influencing my next ebay searches!
kreper trucks were made by grindking, which has made a comeback recently with the disruptor truck. i haven't tried them yet, but i want to. grindking also make rocket bolts, which are basically like those randoms you mentioned. i think i'll pass on them though
Black label also made that kind of hardware, i dont know why is not widely adopted as the standard, you dont need a damn screwdriver or key. I regret not buying a bunch of those back in the day.
OMG I forgot about the rocket bolts! I thought they were the sickest thing ever
@@rehsa8775 i thought they were new, they're on the gk website right now. i remember bridgebolts
Another great episode Levi. Just wanted to let you know that a portion of Hawk clothing is still alive here in the Philippines. Hawk backpacks that’s still use the original logo are one of the most popular backpacks here in the Philippines.
God bless TJ Rodgers 🙏🏽
Kick. flip the big C out your life.
Thats wild! Maybe we need to import a Hawk backpack from out there...
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Its still available here in the states too. At kholes
I was skating back in the 90s and i haven't seen any airwalk shoes since then or the H Street brand skateboards. Those were what i was rockin back then.
Cool vid guys. Loved the topic as usual 👏
ALL of these brands were in my closet in the 90s up to the early 2000s. Simple were the most comfortable skate shoes I ever had.
I’d really like more detailed go though videos of skateboard teams/brands that did not make it. At the end you went through so many that would be super cool to hear the full story! Enjoy your vids thanks for your content.
🙌👊 We’re working on a couple in depth videos on brands that didn’t make it! Stay tuned!
I was glad to hear Grind King were trying to make a comeback a few years ago. Seems they are still an outlier in popularity however.
I still skate grind kings. I bought some Thunders last year and put them on and didn't like so i put the grind kings back on
if kreeper trucks were still a thing id buy them 100%
Thanks for keeping it 💯 with old school brands!
You forgot Altamont!
Both quality brands! I think fuct is coming back! 👍👊
That would be amazing 🤘🏻
@@johnlemon149 didn’t Zorlac turn into BBC. All the Texans were riding for them.
@@marcelboogaard3809 to be honest I’m not sure… it they did this is the first I have heard of it. But you could be totally right.
I had a burgundy cap with white Fuct lettering - I left it in the pub, I was so pissed off!!
All that Hip Hop Gangsta sk8er shit disappeared some quickly
Tracker agro trucks were noisy but the did help a blown bearing an axle slip because the axle was floating
🔥🔥🔥
My cousin used to be sponsored by Ezekiel clothing and reef shoes. They were decent skate shoes back in the day, pretty sure they only make sandals now lol. Also juice clothing was the shit!
Thats sick! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thats cool to know. Ive always known Reef as the “Boomer sandal” brand , sick that they made a skate shoes.
@@oopsydaizi3s824 Diego 'the Butcher' Bucchieri was on Reef back then when he was still riding for Think.
I really miss Think skateboards and I don’t know wtf is going on with Supra footwear now. All of their accounts are promoting some NFT multiverse bs …I just want some friggen skate shoes yo! Bring back the Skytop!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
hey guy from the blank gen. he said z rollers and variflex and nash. i know about them from this older guy that used to skate with us here and there. he had a huge box of 70s skateboard mags. i sat there for like 2-3 hours smoking pot and looking through them all. i started at 11 in 85 so im a second generation skater. i still get out there at least twice a week at 49
You missed some classic 90s brands...
ATM Click
60/40 skateboards
Prime skateboards
Edward Sebastien clothing
Circuit wheels
Speed Demons bearings
Think skateboards
Planet Earth skateboards
XYZ clothing
Platinum skateboards
Think skateboards are still around Dave Bachinksy is pro for them!!!
ooof 60/40 and Platinum are good ones we missed! 🙏 Thanks for sharing!
Prime is still around, they manufacture and put limited version of old world industries decks. Believe its owned by Jeremy Klein or related in some way.
@@ShredzShop Sheep Shoes segment blew my mind. I had never heard about the origins of the brand until your video.
That's awesome! Thanks for watching!! 🙏 🙏
Oh! I need to find that video!
I had always thought Kryptonics skateboards were Walmart exclusive boards. I never knew they had an extensive history back then.
Darkstar is the new Walmart skate board brand
@Rad dog Darkstar is it's own thing though? It's been around for a while.
I rode my original pair for 7 years.
holy shit! that’s a brand name i never thought id recognize but my first skateboard had phantom 2 trucks. Hava
Bring back randoms! Still rocking mine after close to 15 years!
Fun fact about SOAP Shoes they were advertised in Sonic Adventure 2 on the SEGA Dreamcast in 2001 there’s billboards, posters and of course our favorite blue dude is rocking some cool in-game red shoes
They told me to write this in live chat so I did.
Thats a team player right there... 👊
All the attempts to revive Zorlac have been a legal shit show. It's a shame. But a little bit of Zorlac blood still flows via John Gibson and Craig Johnson in Embassy Skateboards.
Yeah that's sad, zorlac reissues would sell by the truck load!!! I'd be first in line, loved zorlac back in the day!!
Pushead!
What a video!! I remember my The Firm board with Titan trucks, around 2005 😫
TSA , DUB Brand and Droors were my favorites the when I was in Junior high and High school . Everyone dressed baggy . 1997-2004 was one hell of a decade for skateboarding. This video brought back some serious nostalgia
Funny thing, droors became DC shoes. It why they use the same star
Might get a hoodie, but man it’s hot asf here in LA
haha that's fair! We have tees coming soon too 🤫
@@ShredzShop Will most definitely buy them! Shredz logo would look clean on a tee!
BRING BACK KREPER TRUCKS!
START THE PETITION!!
I still have a Kryptonics longboard. Taking it to the park today, actually
I loved iPath back in the day. Stylish shoes.
Wow atm was cool back in day they were like 10 to 20 bucks cheaper too
Solid content bro....
Nostalgia
One x
thanks for mentioning POPWAR, i had one of their decks in the mid 2000's. Loved it
Autobahn wheels tho!!
Also, speed metal bearings.
I remeber having the bam ones & those were my favorite of all time.
Fire video, dude.
I just bought my 2 year old daughter a brand new kid size 22"x5¾" Kryptonics board. Wonder if someone bought the company or if it's just a copycat company that came out after the original died..
Ipath is back!!!
Love what you guys do never stop! Random bolts and Soaps in middle school yes brother haha!
Shoutout to MADA clothing and Web Trucks!
Never expected to see my local park show up in a youtube video... 1:42
In my area it was nieborhood with shorty Gonzalez and clothing was stamina!
Hey man any skatevideos on the web from 16 skateboards??
I have asked this many times why no talk about think skateboards or maybe you have and I just missed it or something!🤘👍
Any one remember titan trucks?
Woaw. Thanks for the video.. sad to see all these brands not making it tho…
Monster trucks, phantom trucks, 4 star, hubba (there ads were the best!) expedition all from that era
I want ZORLAC to come back..my favorite boards were the Craig Johnson and Devil Fish models...sick decks from the 80s Texas huge ramp days
Zorlac was great, some of the best graphics and brand image of all time.
I miss Split Clothing.
Hey dude, just so you know, a lot of the old brands from the '70s and 80s you mentioned are still around such as G&s, kryptonics, brand x and powerflex. In fact, I'm riding a set of power flex wheels right now.
Did you just assume any of the brands you saw in the old skateboarder magazine were dead without doing a Google search?
