- From BEGINNER TO MANUAL MODE - can you learn to fly an FPV drone in 3 hours as a beginner?! We take on the challenge to create a Cinematic Montage with the DJI Avata 2 in just 3 hours.
Making this video was so much fun, it really felt like getting back to our roots as creators. We went out and just had a fun day, filmmaking, pushing the limits and seeing what the new DJI Avata 2 drone can actually do - when flown by a complete beginner.
In this video we look at the first impressions of the Avata 2 Fly More Combo and see if it’s at all possible - to learn to fly FPV, with no prior knowledge or training in just one day (or more precisely, just a few hours). There’s crashes, there’s drama and as always, there’s plenty of banter too. Whether you’re thinking of buying the DJI Avata 2 and want to see how it performs straight out of the box, or you just want to see if this challenge is possible or not... this video is for you.
Finally, we give our thoughts on whether it is actually viable to film something with a pilot who has just 3 hours of experience. We test out the different beginner, normal and sports mode as well as the easy acro mode. We also switch to manual and after a wobbly start manage to get some cool fpv footage. The final challenge is to see if we can create a cinematic montage action segment of a fast paced subject.
We hope you love the video, if you did, please subscribe to our channel for more videography, filmmaking and creator content.

Brilliantly produced vid mate! Resonates with me as I also like to put a bit of humour and silliness in my vids. Loved the helmet and swimming goggles - Top stuff - 3 Hours to full manual??? Crikey! Either you're very talented or I'm very cautious! Anyway - well done! Opa! Συγχαρητήρια! 🖖
Heeey! Thank you so much for your awesome comment, we are so happy that you liked the vid. We will also definitely check out your channel and look forward to the humour ;)
Sweeet! Not bad for the first day, excited to see it in some more spicy action soon! 🚀
Absolutely buuuuzing to see what it can do once we know how to use it 😂
Love this
so glad to hear it :D
Excellent! You're making me think about going full manual this weekend. I was having too much fun with the motion controller. I just eased into the dji fpv controller 3 in normal and sport with the left joy stick spring released. I'm easing slowly in. What simulator app were you using on your phone with the controller? I have yet to try a simulator.
Hey! Absolutely, you should definitely try it 😊 As for the simulator, we were using the DJI Virtual Flight. Surprisingly the new controller worked with it just fine.
Good luck with going manual! 😊
Good job getting into manual flight quickly. They have all of these auxiliary Mavic style modes, some people call them training wheels but they are different from manual mode.
They get you into the air quicky but they don't do anything for actually teaching manual mode flight. I underestimated the difficulty of Acro flight, and I was humbled very quickly. You did a great job!
Thank you SO much Brandon! Yes, you are absolutely right that the full manual mode is EXTREMELY different to flying drones in any other mode. I was so surprised by how tricky it was to balance the right amount of yaw with banking and how different the drone was to fly. IT's definitely a completely separate skill. Thank you for watching our vid! :)
Congrats. Good video. Liked. Watching it from Brazil. All the best
Thank you so much! Wow 😲 so amazing that you watched all the way from Brazil. We can't wait to visit one day! ♥️
Solid work guys! Sweet little sequence flying between the trees after one day? Wow
Thank you! Yeah, we were really surprised by the progress - it's a really beginner friendly drone for sure. (Despite the fact I did clip like 3 branches flying in the forest :D ) but it was a lot of fun and I think still there's a LOT of room for improvement with regards to settings, calibration etc. Really excited to see how this fits into the workflow! :)
Great Video! , how do you connect the fvp remote 3 to dji flight simulator?
Hey! Thank you so much for the comment - so happy you enjoyed the video. We actually just connected it via USB-C to an Android phone and despite the app not showing the diagrams or compatibility - it worked just like with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2.
Loved this!
Thanks so much 🙏🏼 so nice to get back to making our own stuff!
Great video, as always. I'm sorry, Bartek, but Sally stole the whole show🤣
Honestly - I think she's an absolute Queen and I'm here for it. Her obstacle course was the best. :D So glad you enjoyed the vid team!
Meanwhile me with a 15 doller drone
:-Whell that's nice
Still cool though! You film stuff with it?
I love the FPV view, but I still get mad anxious and I'm not even the one flying it hahaha this is fun haha I want one now haha
It was honestly so much fun 😂 wait for our full review, when we’ve tried it some more we’ll let you know how it is and if it’s worth it!
Great video, and really fun to watch!
My opinion is that if you flew drones before then yes, its possible without FPV simulator ( which is highly recommended!!) . For someone who did never touched a drone before, its impossible to fly any FPV drone without many hours in simulator. Anyway, we need the simulators if we fly FPV for the first time considering even experienced pilots are crashing their drones😂
Oh absolutely! We completely agree that the simulator is FULLY RECOMMENDED :) We were kinda just trying to have a bit of fun with it, in the form of a challenge to see what's possible. Previous drone experience definitely helps, but I was still so surprised how different, fully manual flight was. So glad you enjoyed the video and hoping it made you smile somewhat.
@@TRIOStories loved the video! And you proved that for someone who use to fly “normal” drones its not impossible to start FPV full manual in day 1 😅 it takes some courage considering the price 😂😂
Subscribed and waiting for more Avata 2 videos!
I’m an aviator 😂😂😂😂 a Bart masterpiece
😂😂😂 we hope it put a smile on your face ♥️
@@TRIOStories loved it…
Unopened box 😂
It's in MINT condition ⚰️
Didn’t know the new fpv controller 3 worked on the DJI virtual flight..
We didn't either! We just thought we would test it and it turned out it does! :D Just connected it via USB-C to an Android phone and despite the app not showing the diagrams or compatibility - it worked just like with the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2.
@@TRIOStories My controller 3 is arriving today. I hope it will work using an iPhone. Otherwise I will be practicing just by using liftoff before I purchase the Avata 2 drone. Which control method did u tap on on the app?
@@a.moevisuals Just chose the third one (which I think looks like just the on-screen controls) and despite that, the controller still worked fine. Not sure what will happen with iphone, but fingers crossed for you! :) Best of luck with the practice and enjoy your new drone!
@@TRIOStories thank you ☺️
It also works with TrypFPV and DRL sim if you're ever interested in either of those. It should also work with LiftOff
