What up yall! Grab some coffee for this one, it’s a long one but I wanted to take you on this FPV journey with me. It was, quite the experience I will say. Anyways, hope you enjoy this video! So much time went into filming and editing it!

I woke up this morning and if i’m honest, in a bad mood, hardly any sleep and with a tough day ahead; my first video of the day and suddenly i’m chuckling, thanks man! That’s a care and refresh at till for me then. You did pretty good though, I’m impressed, guess this is part and parcel of life as a fpv pilot. It’ll keep you fit though. Thanks, DJI will love this video, you showed the drones durability.
I really liked your video style. Very cool, and good info on the Avata 2!
Love the video man!. Very informative! Thank you for your time and work you've put into this!. Made my life easier!.. cheers! 🍺
Best overview of the gear and modes and um, risks! I’ve seen so far with this cool looking new drone. Thanks! I still want it, but maybe after I get some FPV practice with a cheaper micro FPV.
Gotta love FPV! Great story telling, watched the full video.
Really enjoyed the video. Loving my Avata 2. I have been a drone pilot since the original DJI Phantom. First time trying the fpv side with the Avata 2 and really enjoying it. Thanks again for the content.
Good stuff. Thanks for making the video.
Wish they made the Avata with removable prop guards. Seems like a unibody design. If there were removable prop guards then you'd just have to replace the one that's broken. no need to trim off compromised part, which might later on affect structural integrity of the drone. Besides these are so expensive. FPV inevitably crash due to the nature of their flight, as opposed to regular mavics. DJI should build them like tanks.
You have to get DJI care with one of these $50 bucks a replacement as long as you recover the drone.
It still sucks that its unibody though. Many repairs on regular FPV drones cost way less than $50 if you learn how to do the work.
@@brandon9689 Yes this is great but DJI Care Refresh isnt available to a lot of people. Why? because DJI Refresh is available only in few countries. Here in the Philippines, There are official DJI stores in malls and online as well, but unfortunately, no DJI Care Refresh is offered. This really disappointing because we are purchasing the same product. What is the logical reason why they can't offer these to other countries with official DJI outlets? DJI Care Refresh is only available to customers in the U.S., Canada, EU countries, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Mainland China.
I have just discovered that this is unibody construction. What the hell do you do when you have an impact or a crease?? I get that DJI wants to get paid on top of getting paid but damn, that's extortion. 59/ 99 dollars plus 50 + weeks of weight time for only 4 replacements over 2 years for a drone that can do between 35 and 60 mph?!
@@spiff637not true on the waiting part. I’ve used DJI CR on 4 occasions with different drones. You get your replacement in about 2 days after you file the claim on the DJI website. You send them the broken one after you get your new one.
DJI Care Refresh is a good option for the countries where it is available. But the problem is that not every country has DJI Care Refresh offered by DJI. Just a few countries can avail of DJI CR/. From where I am from (Philippines) there are OFFICIAL DJI stores but no Care Refresh Available. If DJI made the Avata 2 more user-repairable, if they offered replaceable prop guards, it would be more convenient but I guess there's less profit from these.
This was a great first time user experience video. That thin sure is durable
Nice work, I always like videos where the mistakes are included. Thanks for telling the real story.
Liking the Christmas decorations in May vibe lol
Got a coffee, watching Terry destroy a sexy, expensive drone… perfect Saturday night!! Let’s go😅🙌🏻
Did you change the settings first? It by default has lower speeds using the motion controller. I don’t mess with that at all. Like I have it but the RC3 I already knew I needed since I have the RC 2 and the first Avata. This new one is much better than the 1st though! Night and day, plus the camera is mucho better
Hey man, great video! I really enjoyed it. Also... WOW that thing can take a hit and keep on going... I have been reading where people are saying these are weak and not worth it... you crashed a handful of times, and it kept on going. Refresh is nice, I do wish the A2 was more user friendly though. It would be nice if you could have ordered the prop hoops and just swapped them out... if you know what I mean. Plus, what happens when the DJI refresh runs out? Anyway, thanks! I subscribed...
Crushed it!! Love this video!! And not gonna lie, you've got me wanting to purchase an Avata 2 (after I purchase the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro). I need to up my "Drone Arsenal"...unless DJI is looking to sponsor my Pro Channel for product reviews lol
I’m pretty sure you can track it using the app or something and you can even play a sound from it to help you find it if you lose it.
Esc beep
That seems so fun
Nice flying dude, I've been debating about getting the Avata 2..or the mini 4 pro...still undecided 😁👍
Get both. They offer different functions.
Watching the unboxing reminded me of opening up apple products. DJI makes truly prosumer grade products.
In the meantime, I need to go back to the workshop to solder up the connections to my 4 in 1 Esc board.
entertaining video, when it was snowing and you decided to fly it in the house it was like uh oh famous last words 😄 though it is something I probably would have done too lol
I had the exact same problem, didn't think about flexing the prop guard away and just spend one "life" on the care refresh to get it replaced. But next time I will use the flex ;)
Might cop one
Excellent video!
My first FPV as well. It was cool to see your journey! There is definitely a quick move from beginner to flying around fast and I think the "getting too cocky" thing is a shared experience for new folks. I know it was for me.
As far as dives and recovery, Ive found the little 4-way thumb controller helps with adding Y-axis lift and dive, adding an "up" or a "down" with the thumb controller to add to the lift or the dive. Pull back on the motion controls AND push up on that thumb controller = faster upwards lift. Extra help with this is to go into the Motion Controller settings and crank up the speeds of the 4-way thumb controller all the way. Makes them more powerful for this kind of thing.
Also, they programmed the turns and stuff to be slower and longer while in sport mode. Its dependent on the velocity of the drone. The faster you go, the slower your drone will bank. I can see why they did that but its worth knowing. You get used to how tight it banks in Normal but then you try that in Sport and it cant do it as tightly.
I wish we could flip which direction is "up" and "down" on the 4-way thumb controller so it would work similar to the motion controls (pull back on motion controller is up, so pulling "down" on the 4-way thumb controller should be up as well, just like a flight video game).
Great info
Laughed so much at this.
I’ve never seen someone crash so much for no reason 😂
Last drone I had was a mini, the first one. Fierce a couple years out I got the avata 2 and it’s brilliant.
So easy to fly, even my 8 year old was blasting it around the house, not a single crash….
Terry, wondering if Avata-bird would possibly fly in light snowfall. Heated prop blades! 😉 🙏🏾
You should put antennas on goggles up you will get better transmission signal.
I crashed my avata 1 as soon as I got it but it really helped me master flying faster , now I don't wanna slow down
Great video! That thing is tough! Is that the same Kofi who filmed for Will Tenny?
you should change to sports mode or manual mode after traning in a sim with a fpv controller. And btw u kan use dji fly app to find the drone in settings.
So its durable !? thats awesome ,I might have to pick one up
Cool cybertruck btw
Need to get those Dobo Rib riders! Once you get use to that normal mode, Next time you fly around your home it will be so much fun with the motion controller. I am loving Manual Mode with that new Avata 2. It flies so much better than the OG Avata!
Glad you got this! You are going to just fall in love with that drone!
Nice video mate. 🎉
how do you get the telemetry graphics to appear on your video?
Basic motion practice 6-10 times before moving on outdoor stuff. Many real estate surveyors use this because of the blade guarded feature! That’s where I started and before even going outside, 10-12 flights inside is a great way to start. Plus yu don’t have to worry about having an observer. I got it to FIRST use with my Mini 4 Pro’s new FPV option. Outside you are required to have one. Enjoy.
I bought a "cheaper" Aquila 16 to fly indoors and see if I liked it So much fun to fly through the then out an upstairs window. Go tour the then fly back inside. Upgrading modes makes the response sharper. You can set the camera angle. FOV is a little narrow but you get good sense of distance to objects.
To get some of those dive looking shots if you turn on head tracking. And do both at the same time it can do it to a point. Tilt your head up points the gimbal up as you are flying. And vice versa, tilting down and trying to do a Dive. couldn’t agree more with the refresh I recommended to everyone who has any DJI products
what i learn is the attitude after the crash bro, if me after that, not even mood to make the video, but in the end, i know why u still smillin, DJI Care Refresh.
Man, watching this makes me super happy, but also frustrates me. I took my A2 into some twig-branches, and got an ESC error. No scratches on the frame, but I gotta send it back. Who knows how long I'll be without it. Hopefully they see it as an MFG error, and don't strike me with one of my replacements (yes I got the DJI care!)
Maybe put a spike in your banding if you have access to that setting on the controller. It will make the drones response time way quicker to be able to do such maneuvers.
Great video man! Beginner fpv pilot here as well. Been a jet pilot for 30 years and fpv is way harder! Lol!
Subscribed great video for those thinking about buying
What camera is your friend kofi using?
My 11 year old daughter flew my Avata V1 right away with no issues. It's a great platform!
I hate that.
Irresponsible children ruin hobbies. Making it easier for them to get into it just accelerates it. I bet remote id came from irresponsible young people flying their drones where they shouldn't be.
Not saying your daughter is irresponsible.
great video fam.
I found doing a simulator first really helped me out before I flew mine. Simulator with a Controller.
It’s a Whole Different Ball Game When you Jump from Traditional Drones to FPV 💪🏽🙌🏽
It's a different ballgame when you jump from traditional drones into freestyle FPV without practicing more.
Good video. You just got another subscriber.
Shouldn't you use some bumpers?
Loved your style. If you can get used to getting the gimbal to look where you turn your it's a blast. Think VTO airplane not drone. My flight instructor emphasized stay ahead of the airplane. I know where I want to go and can take a look to plan out the next 3 or 4 moves vs. relying on reflex.
Bons vols 💪💪💪
Yves✌️
Make more drone content brotha! Subbed!
I have been on the fence about grabbing this one. I know myself and probably would push it right off the bat as well 🤣
when you crashed and you can't visibly find your drone, go to googles menu > safety setting > ESC beeping this will allow your motors to beep and should allow you to find it easily by following where the sound is coming from
It was super entertaining tho. NGL
Nice bro
I think you graduated! Now its time for the stick controller!
I have one!
🤣🤣🤣 A freakin Tonka Drone . . . ✅
The classic first time flying inside the house 😂
Looks good fun but not sure if I could do it as I had a typhoon h which you could fly fpv with your phone and goggles but every time I did I had to sit down before I fell down 😂😂😂
It started raining hard the day I bought mine. So I went home and did some vacuuming and mopping. I flew it around my house with the motion RC to dry the floors.
Once I got better weather I went outside and tried the sticks on manual mode. I was able to hit 60 MPH very easily. With a tailwind I'm sure you can do 80 in manual.
I thought you could just bail out by pushing the red button before getting it crash right?
Good video, but yeah I think I will squarely blame the operator for the damage in this case, LOL
😂😂😂😂😂
NEED one asap man im obsessed with this drone. DJI is goated
They make decent items, just look into the dark side of dji before you commit. You'll blow through more money than you thought in no time.
The ducts are plastic and unreplaceable. You will end up replacing these very often.
@@spiff637 I’m a music video director so I plan to use these for very cinematic/smooth looking fpv shots of my artist/subject. Not gonna be pushing the drone to its limits. But yea I expect to still crash and use DJI refresh. Then after that, worst case is a new drone. only $500
@@serenestateofbeing1062 I feel you bro but I’m a music video director and I’ll make the money back off this drone in 1 month. After that it’s straight profit so even if I lose a few drones, it’ll be worth it.
@@CPDFilms totally understand your use case justifies it and man just make sure you turn rocksteady off and record in D-Log 10.. this way you can use gyroflow in post. If you ever publish some content I'd love to see it
Not gunna lie, I’m shocked it’s still alive after what seemed like sure annihilation! lol
very nice video my friend 👍
In the goggles You can use the 30 secondes video before crash.
I used it for my avata 2 to find my drone.
100% I want one .. but I need one that can stay within proximity of wherever I am walking.
“I’m a real FPV pilot!” Ehhhh… *crashes* NOW you’re a real FPV pilot 😂
Terry! You need to get the originaldobo ribbed too keep the drone safe.
24p at the 22 min mark or whatever actually looked/felt good man.. do more 24p... its like the hero shot
I know. But the footage from drones looks best at 30. That’s why I did the video in 30
...DJI servers suffered a *DOS attack* with all these "Impact Detected" reports!! 😄
Sorry to say. But I think in some cases the stop button comes in handy!
Yes another one down
im scared to crash mine once . you just showed me it can take a few hits 😂
Pick up a “fpv” style drone if you wanna fly more risky, and save the avata for more cinematic flying. Carbon fiber framed fpv drones can take quite a beating. Mine have smashed into the ground, and many trees, many times. And they just keep flying.
You know the drone has an alert mode on it to let you know where it is?
Wait....wait!!!!!! Did you just fly with a small hill in between you and the drone and you still got video and control??? Or is my eyes tricking me?
I’m glad you got yours my fuckin fed ex package is “delayed” and they have no idea where it is. BRUHHHHH IM FUCKING PISSED!!!!!
Fantastic video and very brave of you. However you need More practice , experts always make things look easy.
You know about find my drone?
Dude..😢😢
This is definitely not ideal for a freestyle FPV beginner. To learn freestyle, you're going to have to crash... A LOT. DJI Care Refresh gives you 4 replacements in 2 years, so with the non-removable prop guards, DJI Care Refresh might cover you for 1-2 weeks and after that you need to buy a new drone🤷🏿
I’ve crashed my avata 2 going hard full manual over a dozen times and with the “ribb riders 2” still in mint condition. Just some scratches on the body.
First You need to spend some time in the sim, them ur gonna be alright
You say that like care refresh is free....yes you paid a fee to opt in but each replacement is also a fee....at that point you might as well have bought something else. Not everyone is going to be great at FPV and not everyone is going to as responsible. Only a matter of time as these become more affordable, that there's going to be reckless use. At the speeds these things fly....ooof....gonna hurt ppl and property.
@@Glen.Danielsenof course it's not. That's not even its main purpose. It's a cinewhoop.
@@belovedLion80 You know what this is called?
Anecdotal evidence. We would have to see the footage to determine if it was a hard crash or not.
The Video Became entertaining once you Got out if Beginner's Mode🥳👍😉
These things are not about symmetries... They actually do not care that much. The measure their position several hundred time per second and do what ever it takes to balance them self. That is actually all of the drone magic that is even behind 100% percent "manual" controlled FPV drones. They are also stabilized and balanced be the flight controller. So do not care that much about symmetry. Oscillating uneven weight balance on props is bad.
get the reg controller, way better for fpv ok,keep up your journey your doing good, but to be a tru fpv piolet you need to build your drone and fly it for to build ,fly, crash, repete.
I have one now. I know it will be much more nimble with the controller once I learn it
wait till you fly manual hahah
I just got the controller the other day lol
Did DJI send you a stronger unit? 😂 everyone says their Avata 2 easily breaks
it's a good drone but you won't improve your skills with it, not to mention you can't have real control over the drone without a real controler where you control the inputs instead of the toy like motion controler
I picked up a controller so I can practice in the simulator
@@TerryWarfield try using anything other than dji sim because it's really bad
It is ok to crash 20 Avatas.... you guys are so rich it is just pocket money :)
It’s not difficult. 😂😂😂 I would like for you to fly a PnP or custom build. Your opinion will change.
Foreshadowing, LOL. Should have bought a cheap little Whoop !
Who told you this was the drone to buy to learn FPV. should use a simulator. It's 3 dimensions. Sorry bro silly vid.
Agreed
Sorry but this was not designed for what you are doing with it. I know they said it can do it but, but it's really not advised.
Maybe learn to fly before flying into everything and then complaining when the drone breaks.
Maybe SYAU 😂
*This guy’s awareness of his surroundings is awful.*
*So many crashes that could’ve been avoided by not flying so close to environmental hazards*
*That’s what happens when a drone is given for free.*
Use bolder text next time
@@TerryWarfield I watched your video and was appalled at the carelessness with which you flew the Avata 2. There are people out there who have to save up for such a drone, or wish they could fly such a drone, but you and your friends were pretty reckless and carefree with the flying of the drone.
You flew into hazards that were avoidable and should’ve done FPV training on a computer. I sincerely hope you don’t crash a drone into someone or cause an accident.
You are the reason Drone pilots have a hard time and bad rep. You fly carelessly, wrecklessly, without any concern for anyone or anyone's safety. You let a person fly a dangerous drone who's never flown before, and instantly crashed it.
You have no respect for the airspace or aviation at all.
You should stick to the ground and learn some proper flying etiquette before you go out and endanger the public.
Where is the last crashing video? Why it was edited out?😂
I had no footage: I thought I was recording and I wasn’t, or either I crashed so hard it didn’t commit the footage to the memory
