I'm sticking with Thrawn being this seasons big bad. It just makes sense, you know? He'll be the big bad in Ahsoka, no better way to introduce him than in The Mandalorian. I guarantee he broke out Gideon, blew up Bo Katans Castle, hired the Pirate, Gorian Shard, to take ownership of Nevarro, to continue work that was done there in Seasons 1 and 2

  • @VoidDancerASU
    @VoidDancerASU ปีที่แล้ว +15

I'm thinking this entire episode was "the warning" that Thrawn is back and active already. With Ahsoka coming up, and Thrawn being a focus of hers, it's time to introduce him.
Throughout this episode we had specifically highlighted...
All the things going on all over and only a couple people are starting to putting the pieces together
The Empire's work is being done, but it's being done by pirates while the Empire stays hidden in the background so it looks random/unimportant
Gideon broken out so he can be a "returning villain" so the New Republic blames him and doesn't look any further into what's going on. And he stays the big bad for The Mandalorian show
Planted Beskar to turn allies/potential allies against each other before they can become a threat
This is all Thrawn style misdirection and subtle execution.

Time liine wise the only thing that makes sense is if Moff Giddian was freed right after he was caught, because it'd be beyond moronic to take him to Coruscant then ship him back to a prison in the outer rim. Clearly there'd be a prison in the Galactic Core they could have kept him, or anywhere but a prison near Navaro. Imagine in the old west if they captured a war criminal, shipped them back to Washington DC for a trial, then sent him back to a prison in Wyoming or Nevada where he was they were captured and isn't under Washington's control. Just wouldn't happen.

    1. The Apostate- He become one when recruited by the empire
    2. The Mines of Mandalore- He’s most def been there
    3. The Convert- By gaining the dark saber, he’s recognized (by some mandos) as a mandalorian again

While I think the most likely explanation is that the imperials framed the Mandalorians, I think it's entirely possible that the Night Owls were paid to break Gideon out of prison. 1.gideon is under the command of thrawn.
2.the reason they wiped out the mind of the genetist was because he cloned the mithosaur.
3.the end of ep.21 is a classical thrawn plot, so is mandalore's purge.
4.the attack on mandalore was also plotted by thrawn... plus the fact that it was him who aided grogu to be secluded in order to get...
5.jedis' genetic material to use camino's genetech to clone a proper vessel for the dark side.
6.originally all these were plotted by darth plagueis, who was in charge of the 3 grand admirals.
    7. Grogu is the mandalorian of the title... which leads to the hypothesis that mandalore was also a force user maybe a jedi.
    8. On top all above this is leading to a dark empire cameo to solve the issue of raise of skywalker on how palpatine claimed to wield all the siths' dark side power.
9.the way is being pirated (altered copied) for the new order's army again a thrawn's plot.
    10. The armorer might be under the influence of thrawn... so yes the real villain here is thrawn.😮

Now that Bo has been set on a course to unite her people, it would make total sense to introduce new Mandalorian factions in the show (including antagonistic ones) and that beskar-thing might be our first introdution to that. 😅
I don't really buy the framing theory on the other hand. I mean, the New Republic higher ups know the shuttle transporting Moff Gideon never arrived to its destination and thus they know he escaped his trial but did they find the derelict ship or were they just not able to locate it precisely because of the infiltrated ex-imperial elements within their ranks ? Feels rather cold not to at least recover their own people's dead bodies if they knew where to look. 😅
The point being, was this shuttle supposed to be found by anyone in the first place or was it found because of one very stubborn pilot officer ? If the latter is correct, why waste such a precious material on a surface nobody was going to look at ? 🤔

*Cara Dune being killed transporting Gideon would make sense..*
During the episode, The Rescue in Season one, she was the one that basically was keeping Gideon in check after he was captured.
It stands to reason she would personally escort him. Transporting a Moff to await trial is exactly something Special Forces would do.
Lastly, nothing less than a Mandalorian would probably be needed to take her down. Sad to see her go, but killing her off would fuel Dinn to fight Gideon with renewed vengeance.

I think "saved" may be a tragic word for Gideon as he was a) Defeated b) Had his work discredited and destroyed and c) Captured. If he is going back under the Empire control they may have gotten to him just to not let more of his reasearch be lost, but no doubt in my mind he will pay a heavy price for being saved.

sixteen episodes work together the 2 finale episodes On the whole, I definitely felt this season was not only good but also an excellent improvement over season 1. We got a lot more intriguing stuff such as the phasing out of the Clones, the Bad Batch figuring out what to do, the potential of a Clone Rebellion, etc. Also, limiting the guest characters was appreciated too, and even with the guests used such as Senator Chuchi, they were used to great effect. So yeah, I greatly enjoyed this season and look forward to season 3 (which I suspect could be the final one ends with a plot twist and leaves the next season in so many directions Tech's sacrifice was powerful, moving, and unexpected. I do however think One of my favorite seasons of Star Wars. Everything hit for me and it all paid off in the end Not enough people recognize the incredible character writing we have in star wars now. From season 7 of CW to the end of TBB s2, the squad has evolved so much. Not to mention all the other stories like Mando whose characters have majorly evolved. And of course Andor with its deeply nuanced approach. Some people see star wars as a fun action franchise, which it is, but it is also so much more and should be recognized for that Overall I did enjoy this season, definitely the best of the two so far. I think Season 3 will be great with what they have set up. We got a lot of good character development, emotion, fun stories, new worlds and characters, and a lot of good action. For what this show is on its own following this squad of characters I think they are handled well. I am personally on the side of seeing each episode for what they are and not as "filler" because it didn't follow some main storyline. Each episode follows our Batch even if some might be lesser than others. I am ready for Season 3 though and we'll see if they announce it at Celebration here soon I hope it all comes together in a satisfying third season and maybe a finale Bad batch season 2 is like when it's good, it's GREAT. Crosshair had almost ALL the best episodes and when it was bad it was horrible filler. I'm just surprised the bad batch didn't have an episode where they were doing Sid's laundry or grocery shopping. In my opinion, this show is so disappointing. Why are all of the most important character decisions off-screen? Cody leaves the Empire, Echo leaves the group to go with Rex, and the Batch leaves Cid, all of these are off-screen and irritate me I hope they cut out all those unnecessary filler episodes next season.

I believe the biggest hint to “ who” aided in Gideon’s escape is directly in Captain Teva’s dialogue; “ A fragment of Beskar alloy.” Alloy being the key word. The definition of alloy is a mixture of two different metals. Mandalorians wouldn’t dare lesson the natural strength of pure Beskar. This has Imperial shenanigans written all over it!! Perhaps there is still a diluted group of Mando Imps that wear Imperial Beskar alloy like in the
Rebels animated series. Another misguided Saxon relative! I’m just not sure that Thrawn has any motive to carry out Good Ol’ Palp’s cloning plan.

  • @idontuploadanym0re

i definitely think the Mandalorians were framed. another youtuber (i’m pretty sure Star Wars Explained) said that it makes absolutely no sense for Mandalorians to just leave a chunk of beskar laying around. they appear to be very protective of it, so they would’ve taken it instead of just leaving it embedded in a wrecked ship. also, considering Mandalorians are trained killers, i highly doubt they would be foolish enough to leave something that so clearly traces right back to them.

All great theories, but here me out... we as fans say "i think, i think i think" so often that hardly can we be right and it inevitably leads to disappointment. Reserve judgement for after episode 8, the show is based off of "chapters" not episodes and isnt meant to be judged until all the storyies have played out together.

With all the references/Easter eggs to Rebels and the up-coming Ahsoka show, what if Sabine Wren (and maybe Ahsoka) broke him out in order to find Thrawn? The dead New Republic guards is a bit off brand for them, but I wouldn't put it past Chopper to commit yet another war crime.

If you watch episode 3 when the former imps are discussing Gideon and one of the guys say that they heard that Gideon's escape was a cover story while they hooked him up to a "mind-flayer", Mia Kane's face reacts with a subtle yet definite momentary smirk. It makes me think that the empire was indeed involved in the rescue and she was somehow involved or at least aware of the plans. I do have a hard time swallowing the value of framing the Mandalorians, however, since at this point they are a fractured people without unity, a people without a leader, and a people who are scattered. They don't seem strong enough to be a threat worth framing. Still, that does seem to be the direction the plot is pointing.
