  • Bill shows you how to install a COBB 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe with a Catalytic Converter on your 2013-2018 Focus ST.
    Purchase Product Here:
    www.cjponyparts.com/cobb-down...
    The downpipe features full 304 stainless steel construction, flex section and catalytic converter. Installation of the catted downpipe keeps your 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Focus ST street legal.
    Full stainless steel construction means the COBB downpipe holds up to the elements extremely well with high quality metal. Beautiful TIG welds seal all seams perfectly, resulting in zero exhaust leaks. CNC mandrel bent tubing creates the perfect fit every time for a no-hassle installation. Tubing is 3" in diameter with a 4" flex section. The COBB downpipe features a 200 cell count Magnaflow catalytic converter. The high flowing cat decreases restriction for better exhaust flow while staying street legal. The COBB downpipe bolts up to your factory turbo with a V-band flange as well as your factory or stock style aftermarket cat-back. Includes 2-1/2" and 3" gaskets to match stock or aftermarket cat-backs.
    Includes all necessary hardware and installation instructions.

    I'm new to the Cobb v3 Access port. What kind of map will we want to upload to the computer after installing the downpipe? Or does that depend on what kind of performance we're looking to get? I watched the Cobb v3 video and understand the Stage 1,2,3 maps, but do we need to re-upload a map after downpipe installation?

    The opening exhaust sound. Is that a focus ST and if so whats the exhaust set up? Its the perfect sound im looking for. Just a bit louder. Basically just want a catted downpipe and retain factory exhaust. The mbrp i heard honestly was like the same as the factory so maybe a catted down pipe will get the sound I'm looking for

    • @djsthemetereman
      @djsthemetereman ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely won't void warranty because of the the Magnusson warranty act which protects those who choose to modify their cars, the dealer would have to prove that the aftermarket installation caused the problem but of course it's all risky because the dealer could give you a really hard time

    I have the Flowmaster American thunder, and it was too drony down the highway at 70. An hour commute it's just plain obnoxious, and I have the sound symposer delete. I'd like to mate a downpipe with the Mountune catback I'm installing this weekend. Looks to be an fairly reasonable installation.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would suggest a tune when running a downpipe. I have no data from running one untuned but it will surely run rich and running too rich for an extended time can cause damage just like running lean. It very well might be perfectly ok but I do not have any data to back that up

      Yousuf Zuberi I went back and forth on my thoughts on that to be honest. My first inclination was lean but they I thought about the fact that the sensors should pick up that the cat is not working properly and usually the computer then dumps fuel.There was a noticeable amount of black smoke when this was first installed.

    This install was way worse on my 2018 than it looks in this video. Freakin v-band clamp was pretty much welded on the pipe. Had to bend and pry it off and the number of f-bombs used when trying to put it back on during the new install was definitely over 9000. One of the o2 sensors came out with several threads missing and basically turned to dust. Car has 6k miles on it. Seems like Ford just didn't care on the last year of the ST. Explains why they still haven't released a tune for it. Ended up going with Stratified and been very happy with them so far.

    Lol home on jack stands I have a shop and it took me awhile the hardest part is the 02 sensors there next to each other the first one is clipped on. I had to clip it off than push it together and remove... remember it's white the second one is a lot easier to unclip it's gray... Other than taking forever to unclip the first 02 sensor it went fairly well. I don't recommend doing it on jack stands cause that damn turbo flange is a bitch to get on taking it off was easy.But if you have no other Options than sad to say but good luck 😂

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I struggled with that for nearly an hour, I just disconnected the upper 02 (which is the one your talking about being the hardest) from the OE downpipe and let it hang. I put up the Cobb DP and connected the upper 02, then the lower 02, bolted up, it was all down hill from there.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ST can be run on regular gas but it will pull power to do so. The rated HP of the ST is on 93 octane. We did a video before and after on the dyno and it does lose power on 87. The Mustang and ST are two very different cars so it's tough to recommend one over the other.Drive both and pick the one you like best.

      Depends on the state you live in, it retains the catalytic converter so it's legal for PA.

    How Urgent it is to get it tuned? there isn't a whole lot of people who tune cars here, running rich isn't going to kill it as bad as running lean that's for sure, but I guess she wouldn't get all the power she could have

      I love watching your videos guys! I would have loved if youtube was around in 2000 and you guys made some videos adding performance parts to the very rare and awesome SVT Contour that I owned from 2000-2004. It was only a few tenths quicker than the Focus SVT when it was bone stock, but it looked and sounded great. It drove and handled just like my buddies E46 330i sedan that he bought in 2002. His 330i was a sport model with a manual transmission so he was able to walk my SVT on the straights, but I had no problem staying with him around the turns... That was such a fun car to own. To this day I've only seen 5 or 6 other SVT Contours on the road. Mine was Silver Frost with Blue Leather interior. It's a shame they only made them from 1998-2000 though. Anyway, thanks for all the great videos! Keep up the good work!
      Oh I almost forgot... I believe I am already subscribed, but if I'm not, I will sub after this comment.

    where can you get it tuned at

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unleashed Tuning, Freek Tune, Nishan, Stratified, Steeda, Dead Hook, JST Performance, FS Werks, Mountune. I think I am missing somebody but really GOOGLE it.

    • @zacharydanneels3088

      Cobb, Ford Racing even has a tuner..

    • @dj4monie
      @dj4monie 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only recommend Cobb if you close to one of their tuning locations, OTS tunes aren't that great. Ford's tune is conservative and not tuned for a down pipe.

      +Johnny CincoCero None at all with the catted pipe.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +littlemimus The offroad catless pipe will make a little more power with a custom tune but bot much. The catless will perform better with a larger turbo and is a must if running any sort of higher octane fuel.

    sir.. before you install downpipe!! do you install hearders or not??

    • @Zerogivengarage

      Headers? I am guessing you mean the turbo manifold which you wouldn't change unless you changed the turbo as well.

    Does this void Ford's warranty?

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      By law the dealer would have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure. Check with your dealer before making any modifications if you are worried about the warranty

    Just installed a downpipe on my st. By far the worst install Of a car part I’ve ever done. So if you are going to do this, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

      I noticed in the vid he didn't put back on the 2 piece bracket, does that not need to go back on with the new downpipe?

    • @JP-uk9uc
      @JP-uk9uc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@its_mysterion I'm sure it does since the new downpipe has legs that fit into it.

      michael smioth I blame it on the flowmaster. The mountune turbo back exhaust sounds awesome.

  • @BlackWhiteBeast
    @BlackWhiteBeast 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    This flow master catback definitely has an annoying ricer sound to it with this downpipe. I'd rather keep my cbe stock than listen to this horrible sound. Cobb's catback sounds MUCH better than this with a downpipe!

      100% Agree i have the COBB Catback and COBB Downpipe sound sooo much better then this video and installation took me 45 mins for the whole exhaust super easy.
