Ayy, no love for the 2002-2005 Focus SVT though? Not even a mention? Those were and are still cool. Plus they're kinda rare, but still obtainable for under $8,000.
Learned on a '95 Escort, daily for high school, college, and work. Mom dropped some subtle hints that I should buy a new car after 3 years of stable work and saving up, so in 2018 I did some research into modern hatchbacks. January of this year I pulled the trigger and bought a brand new FoST and I have not second-guessed the decision since. Every commute in this thing is a joy! Really, if it wasn't for my mom telling me to treat myself I'd have missed a gem.
@@edwiryinpolanco1609 Having owned mine for a year now I haven't had any issues with it. The most common fault with it is LSPI from people flooring it at under 2.5k rpms which blows the piston rings off and destroys the engine. You can't dog these cars in high gears at low rpms since they use small turbos. If you mash it in 1st or 2nd gear you'll be fine, but 3rd onwards keep the RPMs up before you give it the beans. Having been in the forums often the most common faults are caused by people who are tuned and end up pushing their cars past their factory limits. If you leave it stock then you're fine. If you're going aftermarket then you better know what you're doing. Also be very careful buying one second-hand because I've seen what people have done to theirs. Mods shorten the lifespans of them.
Can't wait to see "So You Want a Ford Fiesta ST" There's surprisingly so little representation in the YT scene, for a such an amazing driver's car. Gonna be good to finally see a video break down of it from a big channel like you guys. Donut Media's slackin' when it comes to ST content.
Love my bagged FBO ST1. I got in it bc it was plenty fast for a daily, ton of aftermarket support, and it looks great for what it is. And now I have an absurd amount of money in it but 400lb-ft of torque doesn’t get old 🤘🏼
Martinez @clayboy_20 on Instagram there’s a build list and such if your interested! Just bought a stock turbo to send off the build the internals, should make for about 350-400 wheel horsepower with aux fuel
Tbh I’m not a big fan of instagram I’m more of Snapchat and what company u send ur turbo bay or something I’m full bolt on stage 3 tune on e30 by edge auto I was ganna do a waste gate accurater because I heard bad things bout hybrid turbo
Martinez there’s a bunch of guys on the st/rs forums that run them without any issues. I’m tuned by stratified and jst, full bolt ons as well with the aggressive torque mapping. Yeah I’m gonna go through turbo bay. If it blows it blows I’ll build the engine then, and run a g25-660
Makes sense I guess idk I had a Dsm 2g both Gst and gsx and evo 8 I remember how hard I had it when them always breaking on me I did big t28 and 16g on the dsm and I max out the turbo on my evo 8 with full e85 with 272 cam I made 389awhp but I see st after market Turbo a rip off I don’t think 2k it’s worth for such tiny gains imo
I drive a Focus SE but I slapped on a catback exhaust and only run E85 and it's pretty fast for what it is. Surprisingly it has a 12:1 compression ratio on the standard ones which is neat
I had one of the very first gen 1 Mazdaspeed3's and now have an ST3. They are very similar in stock form. MS3 slightly faster in a straight line, but the ST handles a little better, is a bit more refined, and you can run regular gas if you're willing to sacrifice 11HP (according to the manual) for a 30% savings in fuel cost. ST3 interior comes with those heated leather Recaro's which are wonderful if they fit you.
One of my buddies has a focus ST, I’m in the market for a car and the ST is something I’m interested in, this vid provided a lot of information that I needed, thank you for the upload
I have a 08 Subaru sti hatch and just picked up a 14 focus st as a “ gas saver” went stage 2 and it is a BLAST to drive. I live in the mountains and taking it out on the back roads is nothing but enjoyable. It’s not the fastest or the best way to get around a turn but definitely the funnest. The back end just wants to whip out like it’s a real wheel drive car. Again can’t beat it especially for the price! Want a fast car by a STI want a fun affordable car buy a ST.
A guy at my work got one and raced everything that would line up with him. I had to show him what's up. Also had a girl talk shit with a turbo veloster till I gapped her now she dont talk to me.
@@hunterjohnson8200 I've never met a Focus ST owner who doesn't think he's always hot shit and doesn't race anyone who just lines up next to him at the stoplight.
I own a 2017 ST ST3 package and just a few things come to mind after 10k miles: 1) The fuel tank is TINY. You have 12-ish gallons (?), 10 of which are usable before the car keeps reminding you to fill up. Filling up all the time can get annoying. 2) It is extremely hard to heel toe, if not impossible. The gas pedal is WAY lower than the brake so unless you are on the brakes hard, you are not blipping the throttle for a downshift. People claim they just roll their toe over but they must have superwide feet. You can buy a spacer to bring the pedal up even with the brake but doing so raises your knees about 1.5 inches. The seats don't have knee-support adjustment so it gets uncomfortable. 3) Things start to rattle. I mean, this is not ST specific (every non-luxury car has rattles), but keep in mind. I had to smack a couple interior panels into the right place to get it to stop. 4) It is a drivers car. Pros and cons. All my female passengers complain that their shoulders are squeezed in between the seats if they are on the shorter side. It is also a stiff ride stock. It is not unbearable especially if you are the driver, but for the passenger it is not a GT car. 5) You are going to want to modify this car. Tuning the car with a $500 off the shelf tune/tuner gives a potential extra 100 lb/ft of torque and makes a HUGE difference, it really wakes the car up. The exhaust is silent on the outside (sound is piped into the cabin though). The premium Sony sound system is okay, can be better. 6) The trunk heats up. No idea why. It is not insulated from the exhaust? It can gets pretty warm especially with the factory trunk space cover. The trunk has melted and spoiled a couple ice creams so far. Still, an excellent car, 100% would still recommend. I've driven an M3 and this is akin to a mini-M3. It can keep up with the V6 muscle cars and the like.
I just bought a '16 Focust ST3 a few months back with 28k miles on it and man... I love this car, literally everything about it. I've been waiting for you guys to do an episode on this. Well done!

Bought my PB (performance blue) 15' ST3 back when the facelift just appeared and 0% financing (no brainer). Thought it would be a 1-2 year purchase only, 4.5 years later I still have the car and love it still as much as day 1 and its my daily and mine is modded like crazy. I modded it at mile 100 and ive got 57k miles on it still runs great. Still a fun car.

After having a 2013 focus st for 2 years here are 3 things that would have made the car 1000x better: ko4 rather than the ko3, 5x114 rather than 5x108, and better paint because the paint on them as well as most other fords basically falls off the car over time.
Actually, the us market got the svt focus hatch in the early 2000's (02 I believe) and the first gen ST sedan came out in the us in 2004 as the svt focus ended its run. The ST sedan had the NA 2.3L duratec tuned by cosworth and made about 150hp. I used to work at a ford dealership, one of my coworkers bought one a couple years ago along with a few steeda goodies, definitely a decent car for around the 2-3k price range.
2014 ST3. Daily driver for my wife, who demanded the replacement for our 2000 SVT Contour to have a manual transmission. Fit the budget and drove like a go-kart. Wheel hop is a bit of pain, but that only happens when I'm driving. ;)
I bought a new 2014 Focus ST over the Mustang GT at the time purely based on practical space and "what if I have a kid". I've never regretted it. I still love the mustang but the ST's are a lot of fun to push on back roads. I'd buy one again if they made them when I finally go to replace mine in a few years.

I just got a 2017 Focus ST not even a week ago and I’m loving it so far, been having a hard time finding wheels and some other modifications that aren’t made from abs plastic though
If you get an ST just get the ST1. There’s no point in getting the upgrade unless you just REALLY want leather seats in the ST3. Just upgrade the radio system and you’ll be good
Big Yoshi Then go to a junk yard around your area and buy the st3 seats out of a wrecked or mechanical broken car. I did that and it cost me 500$ and 2 hours time.

2012 fiesta se... me and my wife owned for awhile. Traded it in cause the entire sound system went out, check engine light was always on, and the clutch would always break and when you would take it in, they’d put the same freaking clutch that would break back in. Now I’m hearing about 2014 focus getting recalled now too.

Hey, I am 32, drive a 2017 Mustang and I can still appreciate a nice focus ST/RS. It's becoming more and more practical, cops pay less attention, more room for adult functionality. Ain't time yet, but I get the notion! my future mindset is on the GT, but I could definitely consider modding out a mustang eco performance (basically focus RS in a stang). A nice tune and exhaust and that thing will be sick.
Love my st, i don't care about the haters! I can do dad stuff in it and when I'm alone I can put my foot down and it makes me smile every time. Best colour imo is deep impact blue. Great vid 🇬🇧
I just bought mine a couple weeks back. It's has all the upgrade interior. Full leather seats and it was a steal (14k)I had to drive all the way to Toyota in Saint Augustine to pick it up but already i have installed a full straight pipe exhuast and it's actually not to loud but if u get it on it it screams and it pops and gurgles. I got the turbo smart bov on it and lordddd is it so sexy. You hear the spool up and it flutters. Only issue with the car i have is first gear is kinda weird. The clutch is stiff but you do get used to it... And the torque steer is wild. Pick one up!
I like raisin cookies. Also my neighbor has a 13 yellow sti with a very loud exhaust and when he leaves for school in the morning his car wakes me up and that’s how I start my day during the school year and it’s great
Turbocharger yeah I know if you want big power go n54, but I probably won’t do more then catless dp an intake and I wanted a Beamer with a warranty still. Should be enough for me
I got a ‘17 Focus ST. I have a set of Team Dynamic 1.2 18x9 +45 and a set of ESR SR11 18x9.5 +35. The 1.2s will work with a lowered car even on 255s, but the 9.5+35 of the SR11s rub hard even on 245s with a lowered car. My favorite set up is the ESR SR11s with 245/40R18 on stock height. They poke a bit but the meat of the tire makes it look so mean.

At age 50 I bought a 2017 Ford Focus ST, except this was mid 2018, they gave me that car for a song. I still have "Sunny Jim" (Triple Yellow with the Rims) Amazing little car.
I. Swear you guys are going to my craigslist car search history
I just bought a 25k mile '16 Focus ST1 several days ago. I like it. It runs good and I am happier with it than I thought that I would be. It is a fun and playful car and it wasn't very expensive. Fuel mileage is good and I like the way it looks. It is a solid economy car that doesn't make you angry when you hit the accelerator.
I’m legit amazed on how many cars you’ve reviewed on “So you want” series most of these cars I’m looking into thank you for making these videos keep it up

Congratulations brother! 🎉
Ayy, no love for the 2002-2005 Focus SVT though? Not even a mention? Those were and are still cool. Plus they're kinda rare, but still obtainable for under $8,000.
Have one they're really fun!
You can find them 2-3.5k where I like

Learned on a '95 Escort, daily for high school, college, and work. Mom dropped some subtle hints that I should buy a new car after 3 years of stable work and saving up, so in 2018 I did some research into modern hatchbacks. January of this year I pulled the trigger and bought a brand new FoST and I have not second-guessed the decision since. Every commute in this thing is a joy! Really, if it wasn't for my mom telling me to treat myself I'd have missed a gem.
Ohia Charles. Guess what. I'm getting an ST too xD
xCherry Danger how reliable are these cars?
@@ShinySeel_ OI, I never got notified of this comment! When you gettin' it?
YOOOO my video made it in, at 10:52 the blue st, it’s still on my channel lmao
Love my bagged FBO ST1. I got in it bc it was plenty fast for a daily, ton of aftermarket support, and it looks great for what it is. And now I have an absurd amount of money in it but 400lb-ft of torque doesn’t get old 🤘🏼
Clay Crooks what parts u have on it like brand names?
Bought my 17 ST1 back in October of 17 and haven’t looked back since! Amazing platform for beginners when looking to mod !
You forgot the part where after buying a st you think you are the fastest thing on the road

@@hunterjohnson8200 I've never met a Focus ST owner who doesn't think he's always hot shit and doesn't race anyone who just lines up next to him at the stoplight.
I just swapped an ST into my mk3 sedan, it's a good time. Have lots of videos.
I own a 2017 ST ST3 package and just a few things come to mind after 10k miles:
1) The fuel tank is TINY.
My cons in life I wish I had female passengers to get into complain about something.
I’ve had my focus st for 2 months now and honestly it’s kept a smile on my face everyday ❤️😩
I just bought a '16 Focust ST3 a few months back with 28k miles on it and man... I love this car, literally everything about it. I've been waiting for you guys to do an episode on this.

After having a 2013 focus st for 2 years here are 3 things that would have made the car 1000x better: ko4 rather than the ko3, 5x114 rather than 5x108, and better paint because the paint on them as well as most other fords basically falls off the car over time.
I feel like watching this 7 months after buying my ST is counterintuitive but whatever I love this car
Wheel hop is a bit of pain, but that only happens when I'm driving. ;)
