I got to your channel because of my niggles and ever so grateful that I did! Barre and Pilates are unparalleled for correcting posture and strengthening the small postural muscles bypassed by most other types of exercise. What irks me is that the vast majority of men don't do barre and Pilates, even when they know it's the best thing for them. I've told both my husband and son whenever they have muscular issues/injuries to do your videos to no avail.

Yes, it is sad that a lot of men still hold to the whole machoism of weights training. There are new trainers emerging who focus on calisthenics and primal movement. I think, often, it takes an injury to cause men to look into different forms of training. I guess I was the same to some degree. When you are so used to exercising in a certain way it can be daunting to become a 'beginner' again!

Your train and talks are my favorite. I was also big into step, cardio and heavy weights. I never felt good after, just while working out. My back paid a price, I got bad headaches from heavy weights and my hip got worse. I was terrified of low impact, lighter weights and your type of workouts. Within no time, I felt better, and I was happier. My back is bad, but that will not change. What did change was I have minimal pain there and fewer headaches and migraines which I suffer from. I also used to push myself to work out even if I was sick or exhausted from work. Now I take a nap and then walk a bit. Thank you so much for this wonderful workout.

That's amazing. I am so happy that my workouts helped you feel better. Treating your body with kindness always brings better results than pushing through. The more I learn about the role Cortisol plays in how we feel and how we store and use fat, the more I realize that working out needs to be a way to bring healing to the body rather than punishing it.

@@barlatesbodyblitzI wish my cortisol levels would go up on their own. If my body is stressed it can go down more so I need to take medication when this happens. My doctor has been slowly weaning me off and so far so good, but my numbers are still dangerously low

that's interesting. I haven't heard of many people whose cortisol is too low. I just looked into it and it seems that the natural way to increase cortisol is actually quite similar to decreasing it. it seems to be autoimmune related right? Your immune system working against the adrenal glands, either directly or indirectly through the pituitary gland or hypothalamus.
I can't remember whether you already told me if you meditate? Also, releasing childhood trauma is very helpful with auto immune conditions. I have done a lot of work on that over the past few years and I definitely feel like my nervous system is a lot more regulated now and over all I am a happier person.

@@barlatesbodyblitz mine is most likely due to the use of prednisone because of asthma. We are trying to lower the amount of hydrocortisone I use but they may never work correctly again

I LOL'd when you apologized to Mini 😹. I was a runner and kick boxer long ago. I used to be able to do jump kick in hour long kick box classes... ah I miss that so much and running. But... I had cancer, abdominal (intestinal) surgery and a knee replacement. those days are long gone. I am so very happy doing your workouts that are always a challenge yet so good for my bones and joints. Thank you for this train & talk...it was so very good!

You are an inspiration, how you didn't let the challenges stop you. You kept finding new ways to move and I am sure the younger version of you couldn't do some of the barre/Pilates style exercises you do today without crying a bit! 💪🔥

@@barlatesbodyblitz Thank you 😘. And yes, younger me ( almost 10 years ago ), when I first found you on TH-cam, had an incredibly difficult time getting through one of your standing barre with small ball videos. I was *dying* 😂, and couldn't believe it because I could do my kick boxing with 12 lb weights in my hand. It was a pivotal moment for me for sure, and has shaped my workouts for life! Can't thank you enough, because without your style workouts I would be at a loss 🤩

Loved your Body Cardio Train & Talk video today, Linda! The training was fun - even if it was hurting my pulled hip flexor a bit- that I just work through. Needless to say, the talk must have been directly for me, because I've been addicted to exercising nearly me entire adult life. And, I'm still addicted & I'm in my mid-60's now. But, due to a couple of resistant to heal injuries, age & a chronic illness, I've had to face the decision to exercise differently. But, I still push myself to exercise as hard as I can nearly everyday bc I can't stand being a less lean, more flabby senior. And, you're right, I used to think if I didn't run 7 or 8 miles daily, when I was in my late twenties, I was going to gain 100 pounds overnight! Well, that never happened, but that fear looms somewhere in my brain. So, I'm really going to try to ponder what you said about how you've changed your own exerting routine- take it to heart, so to speak. You've been my exercise role model for several years now, so if you've changed how you exercise due to body issues, then I need to listen to that. Thank you for speaking your truth today & sharing it🙏🏻👏💕

I think the fear of putting on weight has been so deeply ingrained in women from such a young age that it is hard to fully escape. Often we get frustrated with ourselves because we can't seem to stop obsessing. Even though a change of perspective can help and it is possible to re-train your mind to think differently about any issue, I think it is also very important to accept our humanity and that we are far from perfect. We have so many different parts to our complex humanity. Some parts are strong and capable and others behave like children or adolescents. If we can come to the place where we accept every part of us and don't immediately try to change or fix them as if they are bad or wrong, then we can start to relax our nervous system, little by little, which can lead to a place of peace where we can thrive. It is in this state of peace that we can hear our true inner voice and make wise, loving decisions for ourselves. Meditation is a great way to silence the inner critic. It's a journey where the process is more important than the end result!

I used a medium resistance loop, and I really liked the figure-eight trick. The loop stayed in place during the workout, so I didn't have to keep stopping to adjust it!
