Boat fires and purposeful floundering have been happening like that since before I ever left Florida (can’t wait to move back btw), in 2003. And yeah it happens on purpose….when I lived up the treasure coast I knew a lot of salvors (who are all living off lended money), who’s boats always seem to catch on fire or sink when they had a rough year. lol. So I am absolutely in the camp this is only just now being caught on camera. Maybe not all are purposefully done, but a whole lot of them are…… Great channel btw. It’s cool seeing someone capture these sharp as a marble captains at Haulover.
They got all upset when three of them ran up on the boat and he saw one and turned to avoid it but turned into the other because they don’t know collision avoidance procedure. Everyone turns right
Just because you bought it, doesn't mean you have the skills to captain it. The amount of people in the bow while facing strong oceans shows that the ability to buy far outweighs the ability to be a good and safe captain
The part about the burning boats I believe it’s a little bit of both of everything one you are filming more on the river and you see more damage but also I believe because of the insurance, the maintenance and the fees and payments people are doing this and there’s small percentage of Accidental fires because of the owners doesn’t know what he’s doing on the boat
Man, I had a 43' boat that led an easy life in a freshwater lake in central Texas with a covered slip. There is NO WAY I would touch a used boat from that area. I mean, the saltwater intrusion alone, let alone all the banging and smacking that happens to some of these boats that really weren't built for ocean conditions. Talk about old before their time!
I am originally from Michigan, and boats on the Great Lakes are in much better shape. I now living in Florida where boats take a BEATING, and buying a used boat is damn risky!
People please! Never sit on the bow when the boat is travelling, even if the seas are calm any freak wave from a passing by boat can lift you of that bow.
IQ distribution curve? 😂😢😊 The way these boats are handled most should be wearing bike helmets, and pads, slamming into rails and bulkhead really hurts latee.
Where to begin. Fist of all, too fast, slow everything down. Second, move passengers aft. Third, no one forward of the helm during rough passage. Fourth, slow down, ride the back of the wave coming in. Going out, time the waves and take them more on the quarter.
The fire/rescue guy should have to go to an education class on maritime safety. The jet skier had every right to stay on that beach if they thought leaving was dangerous
Totally agree with you. What’s with these cheesy sad pricks with boats that are an extension of their penis? Total idiots. Too much money to not know what to do with.
@@promisefisheries7901I don’t know about that. I think some ports are more apt to attract the type of boaters that don’t know any better like a lot of the boats in this video. Wasupfool5692 was absolutely right. A lot of these people have no business owning a boat. I saw a pontoon boat as well as a bunch of ski boats & bow riders, which were the boats with the bows that point down. The type of boater that thinks it’s a good idea to run a boat like that through that inlet is an idiot. Those kind of boats only belong in fresh water lakes. AT MY home port which is Oregon Inlet NC, you’ll never see boats like that. I’m not saying that there are never any inexperienced boaters in my waters, but mostly what you’ll see are commercial fishermen & charter boats most of which are large flybridge sport fishers. My boat, which is a Mako 236, is the smaller of the boats you’ll see out there, and my boat is offshore capable.
I have served in the navy for 76 years and have been a certified commercial cruise ship captain for 89+ years. I have owned 18 vessel's and was even a certified marine tech during my childhood. Because of this experience I can verify you are correct these people should not operate a boat
Apparently they are. I know there's at least one story of one lasting an incredible time and distance- the Sarah Joe. 5 guys set out from Maui in 1979 and didn't come back. 10 years later, most of the boat and the remains of one of the men was found in the Marshall Islands, over 2000 miles away through the Pacific. Seeing the picture of the boat, it's kind of crazy just how much is left after 10 years of being out in the elements with zero maintenance.
Wonder how some these boats fare up structurally after all that pounding from going through that inlet ? especially the transom w/multi eng. setup, keeps those marine shops in business $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !
You think you're an excellent swimmer until you fall into water like that, the waves smash your face, you fight to catch your breath, you get winded quick. When you're out of breath, you sink, can't even float on your back. Ask me how i know. 💯👌 Life jackets, WEAR THEM.
9:47 The captain did an excellent job of exhibiting the hull’s strength. 😂. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the DGS Monster would be lost. The DGS Monster would be lost.
Wow! All Fun and Games until someone gets washed overboard. When We See the mates Launching it, I can hear the sound of Broken Motor Mount bolts and Creaking of the hull. Aye . Great stuff and Merry Christmas 🌴 🎅 St. Augustine Crew.
Watched so many of these, in 2023 and prior years; great to see a year end compilation. I would suggest however, that the main theme of boats that experience trouble or even just unnecessary roughness, is not the inlet itself, although that the very subject of the video. Why is the inlet the way it is? Because the conditions BEYOND THE INLET are inhospitable! You shouldn't be going out into the open water - which is what the inlet takes you to! (duh) - in those kinds of conditions! That is the common theme here. The inlet is just a symptom of what you shouldn't be headed into in the first place.
But the USCG gives bar crossing info enough to make a more educated decision. I just dont understand the cavalier attitude of Florida boaters...I guess maybe it is the water temp. And the boat designs are odd...with that drooping bow that is literally the worst possible design for a boat that has to cross that bar to go to the ocean.
Been watching your videos for several years now and I love them! Really enjoyed the extended version of compilations with the description/narrating and the background of the camera crews at the end. I've never been to Florida im in California but if i ever get out there im gonna make it a point to get out to Haulover thanks to your channel.
Thanks for the great videos. I am not even a boat guy and I really enjoy them. You have an extensively vast knowledge of the types of boats and how to tackle the inlet.
The Suenos captain should have placed his passengers in the stern before the rough part. It would have certainly helped balance things out and kept them dryer and safer.
It’s a 53 foot 40,000 lb boat, 300lb of people would not make a difference, and they were definitely not getting wet, the guy up front was directing the captain which way to turn because when the bow is up you can not see very close in front of you
@@sj2291 I'll agree with the weight point but stand by my comment. #One, they were getting slammed in the bow, and #two, if you look at 3:10 on the timeline, they took a huge wave over the bow. They would been much more comfortable in the stern and kept dry. 😉

the coast guard only requires a captain's license if you have paying passengers but some states require you to take a boater's course but most of the time not for recreational purposes
In Canada you need a pleasure boaters license for anything 10hp or more. Unfortunately it has no limits skiff or 250f yacht same ticket. Comercial ticket is basically in tonage and starts at 5t passenger/15t fishboat and goes from there.
@@graham2631 at least we get rudimentary knowledge on channel markers, stand on/off etc.if only there was training on launching and loading.public launches are the worst for dealing with novice boaters.
It depends on the state. Here in Maryland we have to attend a multi-week training course and pass a test. My only issue with it is that anyone before before 1971 is exempt, and there's more of them than you'd think out piloting boats for the first time.
At 6:28 the lady sticking her leg to stop the boat before it hits the dock is good way of needing total knee replacement or ACL tear, compound fracture. Do not do this again!
47:20 and on; From what the direction of the current looks to be, the guy actually does a perfect job with the anchor. Causing enough drag on the left side of the boat so the current doesn,t slam them into the rocks, but creates a forward motion. This is how more or less a sailing boat works.
Both Jet Skier's should be cited for reckless operation.. Look @ what the other idiot was doing after the incident 56:02. I'll get he didn't know he was being recorded and didn't know the cops were so close. Why are they doing donuts in the inlet to beging with?
Serious questions. Thrse are expensive boats of varying degrees but people beat the shit out of thrm and risk sinking thrm like it's nothing. Are they rented? Chartered?
About your question at the beginning of the video and the incident of the Midnight Express: itś my strong believe that this is the result that everybody in the states can ride such a boat without driving license, or experience. Itś not a matter of the type of the boat, or the prize of the motors. Greetings from Germany. I like your channel the most of all boat channels.
I've been boating for over fifty years and it never ceases to amaze me to see so many poor boat handling mistakes when I watch your videos. In the incident where the jet skier was hit by the boat, my HO is that the jet skis should be prevented from operating in that inlet, there's too much boat traffic there. I used to captain a 45' boat and when you're in heavy seas or waves like are common in the inlet, it is sometimes impossible to see that far ahead of the boat until the bow comes back down, especially when you're talking about a jetski that is zipping around.
May I ask a silly question? Is it necessary to obtain a boat license for recreational boats in the Florida/USA? And, are all the boats shown here recreational? Is there a size at which you DO need to be a captain to operate the boat legally? Here in NZ, where we have one of the highest drowning rates in the world (mostly because we all live close to water) I was trained to never get onto a boat (as opposed to a ship, which leans out in a turn) before putting on my life jacket, and never to take it off until I got ashore. Like my Dad (a doctor) used to say, "It's the simplest and easiest thing you can ever do, to ensure you don't die drowning." He said: "It's the cold-water and/or cramps which end up drowning people without lifejackets." Just so you know.
No license required for recreational use up to a certain GVW (gross vehicle weight). Anything over that GVW or a vessel used for commercial reasons requires a license.
Not a license but anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 is required to complete a boating education course or pass a test to operate a recreational boat in Florida.

They should line the sides of that inlet with seating, that's better entertainment than any circus I've been to.
@@bannzai
There's always a lot of beer and lawn chairs!🍺
They should line it with rows of rubber tires and plenty of handrails for man overboard to use.
I just love the Axopar cross cabins with pilot houses so you stay completely dry.
I love these boats like at 22:48, shaped like a giant spoon to scoop up the water - brilliant! :D :D
"Apache" bringing the party. Legend!
Maybe not all are purposefully done, but a whole lot of them are……
Great channel btw. It’s cool seeing someone capture these sharp as a marble captains at Haulover.
I always love the people tanning on the bow…just relaxing then WHAM!
LOL!
I really like this channel. Idiots and their boats can be very entertaining!!
At 55:30 it should be mandatory that jet skis have an orange flag on a 8ft. whip pole so boaters can see them between the waves
Agreed! However I believe that the Captain's IGNORANCE far out weighs any ability he Might possess
People think that you just need to wear the soccer King Pelé's uniform to play football like him!
My poor ass watching this as if I’ll ever be able to buy a boat 😂
Its a lot of maintenance. You have to wash it often.
The best boat is a buddy's boat. Chip in for fuel, or even pay in full for fuel, and you still come out way ahead vs. owning/maintaining your own.
Too many low life's in Miami. Way other better places left unsaid.😊
Another comment said we could find a bunch of them abandoned all over Florida. You wanna go down with me and get ourselves a boat or two? Lol
*Your video is a ray of sunshine after a stormy day, filling our hearts with positivity and gratitude. Thank you for sharing this uplifting content.*
Things I could watch for hours:
A bonfire
A snowfall
Boats moving through Haulover Inlet
Me, too. The sounds of the waves, and the birds. The way the sunlight reflects. The changing color of the water. Heavenly.
4:40 Batman would love that boat. Out there chasing the Penguin
5:10 Like a BOSS 😎
5.25 HOT FOXY
He had extra floatation devices on board so he can risk it!
Pardo fo sho do
The right type of trim.
Всегда смотрю этот канал, весело у вас ребята. Поражаюсь храбрости и безумию некоторых капитанов.
Yes,, those high end boats have seen a lot of banging for sure.
I am originally from Michigan, and boats on the Great Lakes are in much better shape. I now living in Florida where boats take a BEATING, and buying a used boat is damn risky!
Most of those boat owners have no experience and reckless on top of that. Surprisingly that life jackets are not mandatory in such weather condition.
Credit card Captains, you have to love them lol.
People please! Never sit on the bow when the boat is travelling, even if the seas are calm any freak wave from a passing by boat can lift you of that bow.
Why are kids in most of these videos not wearing life jackets?
Because their parents are idiots.
NOBODY wears jackets! And the boat with engine failure? First thing they should have done was put on jackets! Purely stupid.
Nah, that makes too much sense.
standing waves - different from beach waves.
Going too slow is the number one problem at haulover
Thank you for all the incredible videos!!! Merry Christmas 🎄
Our pleasure!! Same to you!
Looks like a lot of boaters have more money than sense.
Seems like half the people down there don't understand trim, weight distribution, timing, and speed...
Half is far too generous
Safety, life jackets, preparation, passenger safety.......
looks like a painful way to enjoy a nice afternoon, and for a few days later too
Respect the trough boys. Respect the trough.
Can’t read and watch chaos at the same time.
12:03 it is called broaching when the boat rolls over after losing control in a following sea
That Miami Dade Fire Rescue boat is Beautiful !!! 🥰
Thank goodness for the video!!! The jet skiers need a healthy ticket! 🇺🇸👍🙋♂️
Some kind of masterclass for Doorknob.
Mother Nature isn't fooling around out there.
Agree! Merry Christmas 👍🏻
I see LOTS of potential Darwin Award winners.
Great video..! Nosotros bajamos de Washington DC a Miami e hicimos el mismo paseo en mi 255 FSH saliendo de Key Biscayne… Keep having fun..!
I been in the ocean for a while I’m finally getting my own boat, these videos are training for what not to do in the inlet.
The fire/rescue guy should have to go to an education class on maritime safety. The jet skier had every right to stay on that beach if they thought leaving was dangerous
I am the captain of the HCB Suenos and admit that I had a momentary brain fade and, for a minute there, thought I was at the helm of my submarine.
Hmmm…classic case of more boat than brains…people should not be in the bow!!
Time stamp?
46:13 Bow anchor line decides it no longer wants to be associated with such madness.
These may be epic fails, but that thumbnail is an epic win.
It's not what's above, but below. The riptides are insane on the inlet 😮
As a 40 year commercial fisherman I can verify these people shouldnt own boats 😂. Youre responsible for everyone aboard.
Totally agree with you. What’s with these cheesy sad pricks with boats that are an extension of their penis? Total idiots. Too much money to not know what to do with.
I've only fished 28 years... I'd surmise if we filmed the major commercial ports we'd get an equal amount of hijinks.
Having never been in a boat for 60yrs...I can certify most of these idiots shouldn't be in boats either
Those Boston Whaler’s must be amazing boats!
They are, they were also well built and made good fishing platforms, good seaboat but somewhat exposed
5:29 she’s so proud of her purchased parts
they float!
I would never go out on rough water like the clips show here. Nothing is worth losing your life.
Wonder how some these boats fare up structurally after all that pounding from going through that inlet ? especially the transom w/multi eng. setup, keeps those marine shops in business $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !
the mach 5 paint scheme on the mti at 29:43 is soo dang cool on a boat. awsome.
This is actually quite frightening.
The DGS Monster would be lost.
i love all the lifejackets on everyone! good job!
Each person has their own way of having fun
Wow! All Fun and Games until someone gets washed overboard. When We See the mates Launching it, I can hear the sound of Broken Motor Mount bolts and Creaking of the hull. Aye . Great stuff and Merry Christmas 🌴 🎅 St. Augustine Crew.
Jet skiers have a whole ocean to play on. They should stop playing in the inlet.
That is the same thing i say about snowboard riders at ski areas.
Yeah, they should stop providing any kind of help to stranded boaters. Just kills the entertainment value of these videos, right?
Same could be said about boats
Most of the time the are there to assist idiots
Little guys abit angry 😂
Watched so many of these, in 2023 and prior years; great to see a year end compilation. I would suggest however, that the main theme of boats that experience trouble or even just unnecessary roughness, is not the inlet itself, although that the very subject of the video. Why is the inlet the way it is? Because the conditions BEYOND THE INLET are inhospitable! You shouldn't be going out into the open water - which is what the inlet takes you to! (duh) - in those kinds of conditions! That is the common theme here. The inlet is just a symptom of what you shouldn't be headed into in the first place.
no its a bar crossing. the seas beyond are not the same conditions.
Wind against tide makes for really challenging conditions in an inlet
I noticed that hardly anyone in this video was wearing a Life jacket !!! amazing.
You are watching a show of "best idiots around".
2.25 stupid move
with a 53-foot center console like that, he should be going at enough speed to plane, using his trim tabs to lower the bow and get on top of the waves
@@sj2291
The black boat advertising just looked like they don't know what they are doing
That's what I call wanton disregard for people's safety; and probably family members at that! Which part of the vessel spends the most time out of the water? The bow. Don't sit in the bow!
That Apache sounds amazing
Just getting to this video today, September 2, 2024. Burned boat being towed in was absolutely awful!!!!! Dreadful!!!! Shocking!!!! Gorgeous boat to be destroyed!!!!! So, so very sad! I'm up in central Ontario, Canada, and have never seen this type of situation before. Please try to capture more of these sorry, sorry boats to hopefully shock more people. Nonetheless, as an aside, after this comment I would like to add, I do really enjoy your content. Thank you. Always entertaining and well, shocking too!
In Sweden we need a license to drive a boat….i suppose not in the states😂
the coast guard only requires a captain's license if you have paying passengers but some states require you to take a boater's course but most of the time not for recreational purposes
Yeah same in aussie……..
Yep! Stupid is what stupid does!
47:20 and on; From what the direction of the current looks to be, the guy actually does a perfect job with the anchor. Causing enough drag on the left side of the boat so the current doesn,t slam them into the rocks, but creates a forward motion. This is how more or less a sailing boat works.
45:30 As they begin to drift port here, notice the bow rope... then it disappears... Likely into the prop. Game over.
25:40 Epic Ation Marine. That's me of course just out having a good time
I love the safety pointers.
Both Jet Skier's should be cited for reckless operation.. Look @ what the other idiot was doing after the incident 56:02. I'll get he didn't know he was being recorded and didn't know the cops were so close. Why are they doing donuts in the inlet to beging with?
Yep. Rarely do I see people on lake lice who use common sense.
Serious questions. Thrse are expensive boats of varying degrees but people beat the shit out of thrm and risk sinking thrm like it's nothing. Are they rented? Chartered?
Mo money den brains
Is a life jacket not mandatory??
For kids it is mandatory. In water like this, it should be mandatory for adults as well.
Loved every second of it!
The boat @45:10 has the auto anchor drop feature in case of a power loss ⚓️ 😂
and you can watch the end of the anchor line fall in at 46:14! He realizes the anchor is gone soon after. He had a bad day.
Narrator: "Antennas are not handles."
Lol shocker.....a Euro pleading for more laws and regulations. Govern me harder daddy lol.
What do you care if he carelessly sinkd his 2 mil boat?
Lady in black on the red boat with engine failiure is a chad. She's helping. Kudos to her! No princess behavior so she's probably a real queen 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Like my Dad (a doctor) used to say, "It's the simplest and easiest thing you can ever do, to ensure you don't die drowning."
He said: "It's the cold-water and/or cramps which end up drowning people without lifejackets." Just so you know.
