In 2007 I heard about 2 sisters that owned a shipping company in South Caralina, I think. They shipped all kinds of stuff for the military all over the world. Someone in the company discovered a loop hole that when merchandise was sent to a "hot zone" (where active fighting was heppeneing) the shipping companies could charge whatever they want and the U.S. goverment would pay it. Basiclly a blank check. The enormous amount of abuse was unbelievable. They would charge hundreds of thousands of dollars to ship small items like packs of nuts & bolts, computers, office supplies. Millions of dollars to ship tents, new weapons, whatever. Eventually they were caught by someone in the goverment and prosecuted. By that time 1 of the sisters had died so all her kids & grandkids had to sell nearly everything they owned to pay back what they stolen. This family had become FILTHY rich from American taxpayers.

Guessing you haven't been paying attention to Canadian politics this past year. Liberals have been getting destroyed in all their riding strongholds by the Conservatives at an historic rate. Trudeau stepped down over a month ago and prorogued the government. The Conservatives have been the clear front runners for close to a year now. The NDP have indicated they will form a coalition with the Liberals to block a majority win by the Conservatives and even still most poling suggests the Conservatives will win by a narrow margin.
