Nice job! Great seeing my hood! I live on the other side of that large blue boat in Cudjoe Gardens. A couple of points from an old Captain who’s “been there, done that”. Slip on a dead man switch and wear a PFD next time you’re alone or with someone who can’t handle a boat. Sets a good example for your novice viewers and could save your ass one day.
Absolutely. I've seen a few videos & heard stories where a steering component failed at high speeds & the boat took a sharp turn & launched a few out of the boat. Rare, but it happens. I delivered sail & power boats in the 80's,90's. Never wore a PFD. Even when we or I alone was motoring at 6 knotts.
I soloed deliveries a couple times but usually i required the client to pay for a mate too. Even on a manageable boat like a center console, thats a long day to do yourself! I love my garmin inreach, if I am by myself on ANY boat (even my own) i wear my inflatable vest with my PLB on it. THat boat sure is pretty though! Nice video, am a subscriber now!
Love these videos. I had the pleasure of being a florida resident from 05 to 2013. Had myself a 23 foot center console and just made great memories. Hope to move back soon
As a former FMP officer, I have run solo from Miami to Key West. Have to ask why on. Solo run, with AP driving, you would not wear a PFD? Seems like a safe thing to do?
Great video! One thing I want to add is with all your safety gear (which is great) I can't understand why you're not wearing an inflatable PFD? Especially when you are all by yourself. I'm certain it's not because of he the cost. I'm 67 YO and I'm sure I've spent a few more days out on the water than you have and I'm guilty of the same thing. I learned much later in life how important wearing a PFD device is. Way too many things can happen that are simply out of your control The prepared boater is the one most likely to make it back alive. Get yourself one. There are some fantastic choices and models out there now-a-days. It's like seat belts... after awhile you won't even know you're wearing one.
Nice job captain girlfriends prayers we're awesome. I'm 63 years old Tampa Bay is my home Waters from the Skyway to Homosassa. 75% of my fishing was offshore 50 to 100 MI before they were GPS and epirbs we navigating off a compass and charts and time we always watch the weather report and wind always left a float plan describing the area we were going the boat and how many on board if we weren't back a certain time immediately called the Coast Guard don't wait till morning my dad told me when I was young respect the water and it will respect you thank God we always made it home
Nice story. I used to deliver Boats. 35 deliveries between eastern Caribbean and USA . Lots of Intercostal Florida to Maine. (New Jersey). One time Up the Hudson to Canada. 13 locks, in a 50’ Sea Ray.
Cool trip, I know the good feeling and relief you felt once you docked that boat and tied off. Whew no issues, no problems. No foul weather. Nice run there Capt!!! Love that console layout as well!!!! Hope you film some more of your runs. I use to do this from the factory on the Atlantic side.
Sure recommend ear plugs for those long runs. You can still hear enough if something changes. After 35 plus years running like this I’m test driving hearing aids
It's been a couple decades ago, but I left out of Crystal River to take my bosses 38' Pacemaker to Key West for the Month, so he could fly down on weekends to fish during July! Id left at sunrise with a favorable tide and just before dusk got a weather report saying a skull was expected. We were off Venice Inlet, where I had grown up (Venice Nokomis) when it started blowing and the seas got pretty large in minutes, there were 3 of us because I wanted to run around the clock, but it was getting hard to stay on course. The auto pilot was overpowered and we were really catching hell so I dropped the hook. Within 10 to 15 minutes we were all on the sole, the best way to describe what we went through would be to like it to bring picked up 3 to 4 ft and dropped every few seconds and that squall, turned into.an all night body bashing. Weather had said it'd be severe but short squall, that it was not large and moving quickly so I believed it'd only be fifteen to twenty minutes, but it went on all night. We couldn't get up, we couldn't walk around, we were stuck splayed out on the sole. We were all healthy and in great shape but the beating we took, lack of sleep, meant when the storm subsided, it was early morning and the sun was up, but we all slept for several hours. Got up around noon and did a systems check on all equipment, checked for leaks and headed out. When we got to Key West Bight Marina it took a day and a half to get the boat back in shape. Pacemakers are very overbuilt so the hull looked new, everything else! Brackets, cabinet hinges and latches, the Port lights that opened and closed, it'd be quicker to tell you what didn't need fixed! Anyway, I can't count the number of times I've been to Key West, but I've never been by Car, and that trip, was worse than all other trips combined!
Man I’m not big a PFD guy myself but at those speeds and solo, why not? I guess we have more logs, rocks and shoals on the Pacific Northwest. Either way, great video I love the content. Stay safe. Cheers from Canada 🍻
enjoyed the whole vid... idk how you hit my TL, but watched the entire. Loved the peaceful scenery with the tunes, was a vibe. Thanks for the vid, safe travels.. be well!
Thanks for this one, Captain. We are getting ready to take almost the same trip from St. Petersburg to Key West in about a week. Of course, we will be averaging more like 7 knots with our group of three. Good to see a boat not hit anything out there, even at 30+!
I was watching you pulling away from the dock and thought it looked familiar and then you said Ruskin FL. We are in the Little Harbors Marina High and Dry and are in and out of there all the time. I’m planning a trip down to the keys when we get our new boat so I wanted to see how your trip went. Thanks for the video.
Been a while since I done that run. I'll take the Gulf side any day. Long day on the water beats dealing with all the BS down that way. Funny how it's faster by water than driving it 🍻🍻🍻
I would like to see more in depth how you approach tight docking with a current and wind. This is the most stressful part for with a single engine outboard. I enjoy watching your expertise 😊
Love the video. I am in different part of the country, so like hearing / learning about navigating the waters you are going through. Different rules of the road in the area, etc. Also, how you are handling boat traffic as you encounter (not much on this trip), especially if commercial.
Can i please ask a probably stupid question to you experts? But I’m assuming you’re delivering a brand new boat to a customer 250 miles south? If its brand new why are you not shipping it on a trailer to them vs beating the crap out of it driving it down there in the ocean of which you said yourself , “ I’ll have to probably be pretty hard on this boat to get it down here”? If i was the owner of a brand new expensive boat like this? That would be the last thing id want to hear…….
I think it is a valid question.I'd be concerned about engine break-in. Not sure about other brands but Yamaha wants a varied speed/r.p.m. over a certain amount of time. Also, that T-top post vibration/movement at around 18 min. is disconcerting.
It’s a boat dude, it’ll get beat on far more than this. He already mentioned it’s been up to Tampa before so has some hours on it. Far more expensive and dangerous to trailer it with all these crazy ass south Florida people.
Awesome stuff man!!! I know it will be an editing headache and you'll probably need to purchase something to make it work, but if you could blend more positioning and closeup of the navigation location details. Loved it! This is a sales channel. your are perfect because no didn't try. But you are selling so sell like that... its a Delivery, Sales oriented Systems Demo, and promoting tourism to your area.
I see you driving lots of boats! Out of all the boats you’ve delivered and trained people on, which is your favorite? And which one would you buy if you could? Thanks!
Awesome video. Wanted to ask tho. What’s that device you clip to yourself in case you fell overboard. I saw you had it in this video. Make and model if anyone knows. Thanks guys!
I was pretty sure the net behind you was going to be missing in the shot after a while. While I know you had enough fuel, wouldn't it have been cheaper to top off in Marco, grab lunch, and head to Key West, or is fuel cheaper in the Keys than I remember?
Thanks great coverage and info, let me know when you want to do a trip from Aplalachacola to Cedar Key or Tampa. Or if you are ever up our way in Orange Beach Alabama let us know. david
How far offshore were you when in the Gulf? Dat uh b 2 da left. 😂😂 Loved the video. You need a co pilot let me know I’m semi retired grew up on the water in South Louisiana so I’m accustomed to watercraft .
Beautiful day in the Bay today!!! Definitely lied and they still get to keep their jobs!! Went up the river and back to the Alafia. Flat out all day! Windy is a pretty dang good app. Usually my go to app since Irma.
Hard for me to see the mice type on a phone while moving… the iPad mini with data card mounted in a pivot case is a good option. You can mount one on the boat using the pivot holder.
DAMN!!...green water all the way,...that was a very good ride for a 20-25 g-to 28 kind of day...P.S. keep that girlfriend prayen brother she helped out.....fish on!!!

How about including a little more technical info about the boats? Is it true this boat was running twin Mercury V10s? You mentioned they were 400 hp each, which makes sense because 42 mph seemed pretty effortless. MPG was better than I would have expected for two V10 engines at 4k RPMs, but I’m a novice to boating.

Really nice boat. Beautiful day. Those canals in Key West are unbelievably narrow with nothing but hard surfaces above and below the water. Well done!
As a former FMP officer, I have run solo from Miami to Key West.
Have to ask why on. Solo run, with AP driving, you would not wear a PFD? Seems like a safe thing to do?
agree 100%
Because he does not want or need one.
Makes zero sense. Sure, he does not need it until boat is upside down. All brawn no brains answer.
I didn't see a lanyard killswitch either

no point having three comunication devices if you drowned because you didnt have a life jacket on and was knocked out when you hit the water!
Yes, please tell the professional captain how to do his job
@coreygriffore7130 professional captain would have known that he should be using the correct safety gear
Pretty straightforward safety advice. Being a professional does not mean you cannot get thrown off a boat.

There is just enough room to pass another center console. More room than you would think.
