What a lovely summer day. With too many boats on the water, boats overloaded with passages, people drinking, people not paying attention to what they are doing and the boats around them, distractive driving, and everyone in a hurry to get to where they want to go. Resulting in accidents, people getting hurt, and chaos. Welcome to Miami River!
@@rosssmith8481 Just look at the Ocean Gate tragedy and was a high dollar enterprise that ended up being a disaster. My father taught me as a child that the ocean is a living being and that if you mess with it, it will bite you back.
They can't be everywhere. At some point people have to take responsibility for their own actions or lack of action while driving their boats. Bunch of rich kids that probably act the same way in their high dollar cars that daddy bought for them.
I’ve been that person in the water trying my hardest to swim to the boat. The current wasn’t in my favor that day. You go from being fine to panicking because you can see the boat is moving away. Thankfully my friend driving the boat actually noticed and brought the boat closer. It will be a little bit before I feel comfortable jumping in the lake again out in deep water and when or if I do, it will be with a life vest.
It will freak you out at first, but you got to get your mind away from the depth. Best thing for me was to take my jet ski to a cove where someone had one of those huge bags you can jump on and it makes you fly up high before hitting water. There's always a bunch of ppl playing on them, so there's ppl everywhere, and the more you get used to landing in deep water and having to swim back the easier it gets, and with lots of ppl around you feel safer
5:54 The dudes on the top are cracking jokes and clearly dont give a f*ck - meanwhile the brave dude on the left boat is working his ass off to rescue them :D They could at least ask if support is needed. This whole video is full of people that dont seem to care... maybe thats what you become if money and "looking cool" are your only priorities in life? Just guessing :P
As a former lifeguard this video shocks me that not one of those people in the boat would go in to help her… It was very clear that she was struggling and with all those big yachts I’m sure there was a strong current too..
That's what happens when you hang out with people who don't care about anyone but themselves. Not to mention that there were way too many people on the boat as usual.
This is my first watch of your channel. I’m going to subscribe, never seen so many many mistakes or “almost misses”. So many times that people shouldn’t have made it. That’s ridiculous.
That boat that sank. I had the same problem. There is a little Cork bung thing at the back you use to drain the water when it's on its trailer, you have to remember to put it in. My boat is made by Sears, but I bet it's the same deal.
That's how you end up hanging out with this kind of "friends". Just like bad spouses, they chose their "friends". It's really sad. Overgrown children is the right term.
State of affairs with our young people now. I have seen people having medical issues in-person & all the young people do is take out their phones and start filming. Not a care in the world about the person in need...
I read that Vanquish sank because a crew member operated one of the heads that was INOP, creating a siphon that flooded the boat. I'm not sure if that's what really happened, but it was a comment in the PowerYacht Mag blog.
I would rather them go slowly back or do nothing if I fell in the water which is what they all did. I don't want to get hit by the prop. I don't want to get run over by the boat as the back up to fast or I miss the grab as the boat comes back and I don't want the boat to turn around because that might mess up the flow of traffic and another boat might see you turning around but not me in the water so I get run over by a different boat.
@@thekekronomicon590 You also don't want to drown because you've become too tired to keep fighting the waves and the current, because those idiots didn't throw you floating devices or a life line.
So I guess we all know who the most annoying girl on the trip was 😂😂. An entire boat of people watched a girl from their group almost die, get back on the boat, and puke seawater yet only one person even acknowledged her. Either that or it was a psychopaths meetup, that was the test and 1 guy failed.

10:10 Drop that inflatable tender boat into the water and *GO GET HER!* Makes no sense to leave someone in the water, especially in a high-traffic area. Insane. She was obviously completely exhausted by the time she was pulled from the river.
@@mysteryyyyyy dude, we can all see it. It's held on by bungee cords and can be set into the water. That takes less than a minute. But you can just watch your friend struggle and maybe drown, reassure yourself by saying "we could have saved her but it would have taken too ling and been too much hassle. It was better just to watch and pray".
@@peterh222 from the looks of these boats they are called decorations. kinda like the towels in the guest bath when you were a kid... never to be used! 🤣
Not heroes just what we did as human beings. My buddy and I were anchored in 10' of water, a girl off our bow caught our attention as she was obviously struggling. She had attempted to swim to shore from a boat anchored out much further than ours. My friend and I each grapped a life jacket , dived in and swam over to her. My boat isn't easily accessed in deep water so we decided to get her in one life jacket and use the other as a flotation device for her to hang on to as we swam to shore. We were beat, she was beat, by the time we got to shallow water and half carried her on to the beach. No one on her boat came to check on her and we could see they were watching, so we left her in the care of a beach attendant who had called the police when he saw us half dragging her on to shore. She hadn't taken in any water but she was exhausted. She would have drowned if my friend and I were not there....and the people on her boat didn't do a thing to save her or even check on her welfare as far as we know. Believe me getting back to my boat and trying to get back in was brutal and we were glad to have our 2 life jackets to keep us afloat.
The fact that they got her back on the boat doesn't mean she's perfectly fine. She clearly took on water, hence the puking. Dry-drowning after a close call is a very real thing. I hope she got checked out.
@grahambrown4202 You sound like you could have been one of the guys on that boat. It's not a compliment. They're a bunch of a-holes for doing nothing while she struggled. You might be that guy, too.
@@PhoenixRisen63 ...I wonder if she actually had drowned if they would have just kept going...I would hope when she got home she sat down and assessed what almost happened to her, make some "life changes" and fine new friends who really care. 11.37: Lady went overboard, no life ring with line thrown to assist. Young boy watching on, no life vest sucking a lolly unsupervised as he walked along the Starboard side. A fall or sudden boat movement could have jammed that sucker in his throat, he then could have gone overboard unseen. He would not be able the shout/breath and no auto life vest to keep him afloat. Now that is some crew who can't even foresee danger. I used to have a safety talk with passengers and crew before letting go, crossing the English Channel that would include life vests walking on deck while underway, VHF radio emergency channel and GPS position. simple control of engines and steering. Should I be incapacitated they can summon help. When going for a great day out, make sure you end it that way.
What a scary way to know who your “friends”are. Not to mention the highly capable captain. Then the boat is sinking let’s get everyone as high as possible to make the boat more unstable. It scares me people like this exist in such abundance.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that any of the "captains" of ANY of the boats featured in this video are "highly capable". What was shown in this video is proof of that. The complacency shown in this video reflects an attitude that we also demonstrate while driving our automobiles.
None of those young men even pretended to help that woman that fell in. If I owned a boat, I wouldn't bring out anyone that wasn't of reasonably sound mind and body to be able to save themselves and exhibit a minimal interest in responsible boating practices. If someone is too heavy and out of shape to get themselves back in the boat, you can't expect someone else on the boat to be able to pull them aboard.
You can prepare for that. E.g. the girl that went swimming for that long, they could have launched the dinghy and picked her up, they could have launched the paddle board, etc... extend a swim ladder if you already have the swim platform down... However, if I was the skipper on one of these boats, I'd have held a safety briefing before slipping the lines and there would be several people busy trying to get her (or him, doesn't matter) back on board, ASAP. The skipper is responsible for everyone on board and at least here in Europe, he will face charges if someone gets injured or even dies. It doesn't matter if you're on a 5m runabout or a 50m superyacht, you're on the hook and face a possible jail term north of a decade...
A huge percent of people can't swim and/or have fear of the water. Put that together with surprise of falling in (maybe also be cold shock), possible fatigue/alcohol effects and panic can happen quickly.
Crazy that this generation just allows their friend to struggle and nearly drown whilst they play on their phones and drink their drinks and watch her possibly die.....not on of those dudes jumped in to help her out.....just sat in the boat and watched her struggle .....
Why just the dudes? Equal damn rights and responsibilities. The overboard women were irresponsible. Why should a man have to risk his life because someone wanting to look hot and not wear a PFD while getting drunk went overboard?
The 38 Meridian, I am astounded. The boat is sinking, nobody seems aware that they are in danger, nobody has a pfd on or even has one accessible. Passengers still holding onto their drinks. They only people that seem to be concerned or in any kind of hurry are the guys trying to keep it from sinking. Absolutely unbelievable!
If I was at the helm, I would ALWAYS require one person to keep an eye astern for anyone who falls overboard. Especially if my friends/relatives demand that they be allowed to bring a beer cooler.
Something similar happened to me when I was young, exact same situation too many kids on the boat, nobody noticed I jumped and couldn't swim back from the current, was eventually rescued by a yacht passing by. That was the end of the friendship with the boat owner.
if lets say you jump into water from a boat full of people where a chaos takes place and nobody notices you can blame only you, not the others.@@nareeeely
It’s amazing to me how little urgency these people show when one of there friends is almost drowning! That big boat had a paddle board right there next to the guy holding a towel!
In Michigan my daughters boyfriend (been on boats for 25 years) talks about this type of stuff all the time. Someone goes on someones boat then wants one and it doesnt always turn out good. Then you get the people that think they are floating bars and crowd more on then allowed.
The correct procedure is to throw the required "throwable" floatation device to her, make the radio call on 16 for Man Overboard and approach from downwind. If you approach from upwind you will be blown right over the survivor in the water. That orange boat about 200 yards aft of their stern would've been to that location in about 30 seconds!!!
"If you approach from upwind you will be blown right over the survivor in the water." That is only a serious risk when the wind is strong. With gentle winds, that is no risk. Apart from that, if yu have a high freeboard, most of the time the only place where you can lift the person in the water out of the water, is at the stern. Where the propellors are, which you need to keep turning when you approach from downwind. Increasing the risk therefore. What the correct procedure is, after throwing a floatation device, make a MOB call, whilst maintaining an eye on the victim, depends very much on the situation, including windspeed, manouvring space, water depth, etc.
I'm stupified that that bazillion-dollar grey yacht was somehow neglected enough to sink her SO fast. It boggles the mind. Were the pumps *_adding_* water to the bilge?
If I was working the water in that area I would go threw a summons book every day. Then there are all of the captains who must be intoxicated which should be checked out. I know they are out there for relaxation but stupidity is no excuse for what they are doing or have done. It's surprising they don't pull a body ( floater ) a day out of there.
10:18 this actually a crucial survival stroke we have taught in marine corps water survival. SAFE actions that can save your life, using little to no energy and staying afloat, great idea!!
As someone either a small 21ft that goes out on the Niagara River but avoids Lake Erie because it’s too rough. I can only imagine the icean is worse and if you’re caught in a squall I promise you you want bigger and more powerful. Much safer in lakes/ocean. Plus it’s so much fun to go fast skipping over the water. Add in dragging skiers/wakeboarders/tubers in the ocean? Bigger/taller is better.
I've been boarded for a random CG inspection. I have no problem with that. These boats (smaller ones) are so overloaded with people, I guarantee there isn't enough life jackets for everyone! There's no urgency to the people who went overboard? WTH??? The CG and Marine Police should board more boats and teach these people safety procedures! What caused the Vanquish to sink?
The 38 Meridian that was taking on water, the operator should have immediately been notified and ordered everyone to put on a PFD. Congrats to the other boat on rigging a pump.
Things have changed in Florida. While the Coast Guard may board any vessel at any time, FWC may only board if they have "reasonable and probable cause". They're pretty good about paying attention to that.
The Vanquish vanished! What happened in such a calm area for it to sink? Did it hit something we don’t see on camera? It was one of the most gorgeous boats I’ve ever seen, what a shame.

At 14:52 both vessels meeting head on in a channel are "burdened" vessels , the larger vessel was to pass on the port side of the smaller center console ( meaning he should of stayed to right I do think he was going to maintain course and stay left , luckily no collision took place , basic seamanship.
This doesn't surprise me. There's just to many un experienced boaters these days & its scary. Such little experience they don't understand what a strong current looks like so they jump in. Out of sight out of mind so they climb all around a spinning blade that could slice a body part off. Bumping into other boats because they don't know what their doing. SCARY!!
Just in case someone reading this is ever in a situstion where your boats taking on water. Considering it’s not too late, get the boat up on plane where it’s going fast enough to outrun the water that’s rushing in, most likely a plug or a seal onnthf rear of thf vessel is the culprit gravity does it’s job very well. I had a 32 foot cuddy cabin like the second one that was sinking. My rear gimbal seal around my out drive failed abd the bilge wouldn’t keep up. I got thf boat on plane sbd saved the vessel.
Unfortunately, way too many idiots on the water. Then throw alcohol in the mix..tradegedies. I have been boating my entire life and can't figure out how so many people fall off these boats. This particular area you need to know how to boat with waves, wakes and currents. Thanks Boat Zoan..love all the videos, but I'll stick to GOM and bayous. ;)
Ridiculous! What a bunch of tools! The boat is sinking, one guy is trying to pump and the rest are still acting a fool. I think CC need to do some life vest checks not to mention BUI stops. I’m surprised there aren’t more drownings.
The people who fell on this video aren't wearing lifejacket. Maybe the people who fell on the water are as irresponsible as the people who are on the boat. Either way, moral values matters in family, friendship and work place.

Well with that much boat traffic I believe most people do pretty good without incident, also its obvious how many people actually never been on a boat especially on saltwater, I wonder if the captain gives everyone the do’s and don’ts when they board their vessel, have a good time but don’t hang off the side etc, and if anyone goes overboard here’s the life ring to throw to them, thanks that was excellent video
a couple of things i noticed the Lady in clip 9 done the right thing turned on her back and floated that helped save her life where as the Lady in the previous clip was in danger of drowning, the Lady turning on her back helped her calm herself down her face hardly went under the water unlike the Lady before hand who we saw go under a few time increasing panic. both cases shock kicked in, the Lady in clip 9 was able to calm herself down and get over the shock, she then realised the current was to strong so maintained her position in the water. both 'Captains' should have been charged for neglect! especially the previous one. no immediate action was taken for a person overboard, no one responsible for keeping an eyes on them, no life rings deployed! the first Lady needed that! no calls for help let alone notifying other boaters that they had a person in the water. then another point of neglect! radio antenna's laying down! reduces range of radio even more so if using 1 watt power. but i suppose it looks good, that just shows total disregard for the lives of the people they have on board. before you think yet another arm chair 'Captain!' i served 25 years rescuing people just like that! my crew and I in that time came to the aid of over 4,000 people and they along with me managed to save 50 persons lives.

Im surprised boats dont have some sort of emergency ballast system. Like an airbag system for boats. If your boat is sinking, you simply hit the panic button and a bunch of airbags deploy that are around the side of the boat that are stored inside a water tight compartment that stretches along the side of the boat. Basically creating an inflatable life raft around the boat. This would even work if you got caught in rough seas. The airbag system would have the added benefit of essentially turning your boat into a trimaran (triple hull) boat.
@@nareeeelywouldn't even necessarily have to be hatches. I reckon you could get away with retrofitting pods on the side of the hulls quite easily. Airpods.. 😂 (I'll see myself out)

Non-Boater thinking about purchasing a small 4-Man fishing boat for inshore fishing who has just found and subscribed to your channel. Captain with over 40 years of experience here. Take a coast guard approved course in your local area that has on-water training as well. Too many people today have no idea how to handle even basics. On the water, it can go from peaceful to life threatening in seconds. Being properly prepared and knowing what to do can be the difference between avoidance or tragedy.

@stargasm1000 yeah just wanna make a quick buck

What happened to the vanquish?

Is it possible for a Gen Z or Millennial to be on a boat and not be holding a cell phone?
_NOPE_ !
Lots of these are Gen X'ers.
Lmao gen Z doesn't have money for this. How out of touch are you?
Im surprised boats dont have some sort of emergency ballast system. Like an airbag system for boats. If your boat is sinking, you simply hit the panic button and a bunch of airbags deploy that are around the side of the boat that are stored inside a water tight compartment that stretches along the side of the boat. Basically creating an inflatable life raft around the boat.
This would even work if you got caught in rough seas. The airbag system would have the added benefit of essentially turning your boat into a trimaran (triple hull) boat.
Yeah, like chitty chitty bang bang. That was real too.
Already have them, called RIB's for short.
They exist - but are not standard.
True, would be nice to have airbags that automatically deploy from dedicated hatches when the boat goes under.
@@nareeeelywouldn't even necessarily have to be hatches. I reckon you could get away with retrofitting pods on the side of the hulls quite easily. Hard-wire them up to the bilge pump or cockpit or wherever is most appropriate for sensing or even just having a manual deployment switch, and they'd go well.
Call them.. Wait for it.. Airpods.. 😂 (I'll see myself out)
How did the vanquish sink?
That black and red boat in the beginning was beautiful. I wonder what happened?
The lack of urgency with this close to drowning victims is astonishing!
I was on a large lake with my kayak and the step son on it with me, my 17 year old daughter with my step daughter on her kayak and my other teen daughter on her own kayak and we were paddling one mile back to the launch. I heard a boat coming up behind us I figured the lake is about two miles wide at that point...Yeah no the guy drives his pontoon boat between me and my daughters kayak and we were about ten yards apart. I look at him, no reason to yell because this type of a person won't care that you are yelling and he throws up a friendly wave because he didn't get it.
Non-Boater thinking about purchasing a small 4-Man fishing boat for inshore fishing who has just found and subscribed to your channel. Quick question: Is, "Might Is In The Right", when it comes to the size of the boat/s? I understand that there are maritime laws that should be followed. But after watching so many of your videos, those laws seem to go right out of the window, especially when it comes to life preservers. Life preservers, especially for small children, only seem to be used when an issue has already happened. Thank you.
There's technically more to it than "might makes right". Take a boating course so you know the most basic rules but remember that the water is full of people who don't follow them.
"Is, "Might Is In The Right", when it comes to the size of the boat/s?" Not always, it depends on the situation.
@@warpedweirdo After watching the videos I understand that I'll definitely need to take a course, even if it's just for the basic waterway rules. I used to be a Class 1 European Truck Driver for 20+ years prior to retiring, and to obtain that license I had to take 3 other driving tests. It just surprises me that even common sense safety rules don't seem to be followed by many boat captains/drivers. But thank you for your reply. I Will take a course before hitting the waters 👍
@@robinj1052 Understood. Just seems from watching the videos, even the slightly bigger boats try to master their ways through certain conditions and situations. I did start to think that it could come down to the operator's experience with their boat also. Thank you very much for your reply 👍
If I was on any of those boats, none of that idiocy would have happened, I could have saved the first $3m yacht from sinking as well.
That black boat with res seats sank literally right in front of my house I love that apartment building you can see it in the film
Why did the Vanquish sink?
I'm amazed at how many smaller boats are way overloaded with passengers. The cops and USCG could be at it all day doing boat inspections for PFD's and overloaded boats. Oh and the cops need lanyards on their handguns.
😂 I can see it.. bloop!
@@SLOCLMBR Where I am a sheriff deputy working an island job had a lanyard on his Beretta. You know at some point his gun went in the drink and his boss made him tie it up.
overloaded AND no one wearing PFDs and every one drinking. Up in Maryland State PD rides with the USCG on the bay and they do not mess around with this stuff
